  “Happy Birthday!”

“Thank you so much!” I greeted everyone.

“I’d like to make a brief announcement,” Thayde smiled at me and our guests quieted. “I’ve asked Morgan to do me the honor of marrying me and she’s accepted.”

Another cheer raised and instantly people were shaking our hands and hugging us. Making our way to Mom and Tammer, we accepted everyone’s congratulations. Tiesa’s eyes bulged out when she saw my engagement ring and she squeezed my hands excitedly.

“Hopefully, soon I’ll have one too!” She said.

Mom kissed Thayde’s cheek and Tammer gave me a quick hug.

“Congratulations to you both.” He shook Thayde’s hand.

“Thank you for your blessing.” Thayde answered and held me close.

“How could one possibly top an engagement as a birthday present?” Mom asked. “It’s impossible, but we thought you might need a little something, as you’ll be going back and forth a lot throughout the rest of the school year. You will be completing school, am I right?”

“Yes, Mom,” I chanted and we followed her out the room to the front doors. Parked in the driveway was a silver Cobra Venom race car. The mansion lights reflected off its brand new paint and I could see my shocked reflection in the darkened windows. I was overwhelmed.

“I don’t know how to thank you!” I ran my hand down the smooth paint of the door. “It’s more than I could have hoped for. I don’t deserve this.”

“Sure you do,” Tammer opened the driver’s door and motioned for me to get in. “Besides, you needed something to rival Thayde’s Ferrari.”

I climbed into the seat and touched the wheel.

“It won’t bite,” Thayde said from the passenger side.

“Do you know how to drive a six-speed?” Tammer asked, doubtful.

I rolled my eyes and started the car. It growled to life and I looked back at Tammer.

  “Of course I do.”

“Why don’t you guys take it for a spin?” Tammer suggested, shutting the door.

Thayde closed his door and leaned across to kiss me.

“Where are we going to go?” He asked.

I smiled, “Anywhere we want,” I answered, “as long as we’re together.”

  “Forever and ever?”

  “Always.”
