The Dare: Sterling U: Book 1
Page 19
"Sure thing, babe. I'll meet you there in a few? By our spot on the couch?" I smiled and nodded. Yeah, my favorite spot has now become our spot. I walk in the library making my way straight to the front desk where Savvy has her head down in a book. "'Scuse me, miss could you tell me where I can find a book on how to keep from screaming at the top of my lungs when my boyfriend gives me an orgasm?" Savvy huffs out a laugh, "Girl, if I knew we had a book about that I woulda thrown it at you a while ago," she looks up at me and laughs, "but you're lucky I love you enough that it doesn't bother me too much. Nothing a pair of headphones or a night out can't fix." I smile at her, cooing, "A night out with Nate?" Savvy shakes her head, smiling like a fool.
"Things are....they're really good between us and that's all I'm saying right now." She looks up at me, smiling before her gaze drifts off over my shoulder. Her eyes glaze over and I know without having to turn around that Nate is standing somewhere behind me. I slowly turn watching the small group of hockey players talk and shake hands. Nate, Kyle, Mason, Drew, Ronnie and a few others are standing around shaking hands with a guy I've never seen before but my eyes are focused on the god-like being that is my man. Standing with a smile on his face while he talks, holding a tray of hot drinks with my bag slung over his shoulder. "They really are something, huh?" I say breathlessly to Savvy who nods her head. And to think only a few months ago they were nothing to us.
Brooks and Nate walk over to us, the new guy trailing close behind. Caramel skin, light brown eyes, long black hair slicked back in a bun. He looks about an inch shorter than Brooks and Nate but still tall enough that I have to look up slightly. "Ladies, your drinks." Brooks hands off a drink to Savvy, who takes hers and thanks Brooks with a kiss to his cheek. I take mine from him, giving Nate a hug hello and taking my books from Brooks. "Who's this?" Savvy asks, eyeing the fresh hunk of a man standing in front of us. I'd be lying if I said he wasn't attractive. I smile at him but something off in the distance catches my eye and I growl a little.
"Whoa. Sorry girlie, what'd I do to piss you off already?" I giggled at the new guy, shaking my head, "Oh, sorry. No. That wasn't about you. That was about her." All eyes glance over to the little fox, arms draped around a football player named Zack, and I chuckle a little when I see Ky roll his eyes. "Hmm. So I'm guessing that by the amount of eye rolling going on right now she's someone I should stay away from?" A collective "Yes'' sounds from all of us and we laugh. New guy chuckles, reaching his hand out to me. His eyes trace me up and down. Smiling he says, "I'm Ocean. Ocean Blackwell. Nice to meet you, sweetheart, and you are?"
I laugh when Brooks' arm immediately wraps around my waist, pulling me closer to him, "This is my girlfriend, Letty." Oceans eyes widen a bit but he recovers quickly with a small laugh, "Oh, shit. Sorry, man. You're one lucky dude though." I smile at the new guy, feeling Brooks pull me closer, whispering in my hair, "I know."
Ocean turns his attention to Savvy, his eyes raking over her before Nate slaps him on the back, "Nope. Not her, dude." Ocean nods, "Got it." After introductions are made, finding out Ocean is a new transfer from the west coast and was scouted for the hockey team for next year, Brooks and I make our way to my favorite couch. "Was that really necessary? The whole possessive thing back there?" Brooks looks over at me before smiling and sauntering over to pull me close. Our mouths inches from each other as he gazes deep into my eyes. Butterflies fill my stomach as I sink into his hold. His emeralds sparkling, "Yeah, baby, it was. You're mine and I want the whole world to know it!" I smile at his words, giving him a chaste kiss, my words coming out breathless, "Good, because you're mine."
"Always." Brooks says before kissing me, "Always." I grip him tighter to me, relishing in the taste of his lips before drawing away. We sit down on the couch, getting comfortable and lost in our studies. I look over at him, smiling. The guy I used to hate and despise, is now the guy I can't imagine my life without. The man I love. And to think, it wouldn't have happened without a dare.

Acknowledgements
First and foremost I have to thank the girl who suffered through all of my crazy text messages and constant questions. Jenny, girl, thank you beyond words. Without you, The Dare would not have gotten out. You inspired me beyond words and you know exactly why. Thank you for letting me blow up your phone everyday. I am beyond grateful! You were there for it all and I can't wait to text you even more for the next books to come.
I need to thank all of the indie authors out there and the wattpad readers and writers because without you I wouldn't be here. I have always had a passion and love for writing but had never finished the many stories I had written. With a little courage and a big jump I decided to push the fear away and say screw it.
I hope that one of my books touches the heart of one of my readers and you fall for the characters just as much as I have. Letty and Brooks became a part of me and this book will forever be one of my favorites. I can't wait for you all to see what happens in the rest of the series.
Want to know what's going on with Savannah and Nate? The Pact will be out in 2021.
