Vampires' Lair

Page 8

Hunter Blaise stopped in front of two massive doors, doors that stood at least fifteen feet tall. The doors had no handles that she could see. Hunter stood facing the giant doors, putting his right hand on one of the doors and his left hand on the other. Both of his hands seemed to melt into the doors. The locks creaked as the doors unlocked. They sounded as if they hadn't been opened in many years.

The doors released their grip on Hunter and the giant doors swung open. The chandelier in the room lit up as the doors opened revealing a circular chamber made entirely of white marble. There was a bench that encircled the chamber walls which was also made of the same white marble. In the middle of the chamber, there was a glistening white marble burial vault. The vault had three sliver handles running down each side of the vaults lid. Hunter led her to the vault. Looking down onto the vault, Jasmine noticed an inscription. Inscribed on the vaults lid was a name that she had not expected to see. It was the name of a person who she had only heard stories of. The name that was etched into the marble was, in fact, was the name of one of her distant grandmothers Sophia Willow. Jasmine gasps at the sight of her grandmother’s name upon the vault. Sophia Willow was the only person in her family tree that her family had suspected to have magical powers, and here deep in the Carpathian Mountains lay a burial vault with her name on it. Jasmine had no choice but to believe that she was descendent of a witch.

  Chapter 30

An overwhelming desire to touch the vault came over Jasmine. She slowly placed both of her palms on top of the vault, closing her eyes she let all of the thoughts slip from her mind. A vision of her ancestor flooded her thoughts Grandmother Sophia Willow. They could have been sisters, Jasmine thought. Sophia Willow had the same long flowing strawberry blonde hair, and her skin was just as fair as Jasmine’s. Grandmother looked to be slightly older than Jasmine. This didn't make sense to Jasmine in the stories that were told to her, Grandma Willow lived an extraordinarily long time. This must have been the image that her grandmother wanted to be portrayed to her.

Sophia Willow spoke to her in a soft loving voice, sort of like she was taking to a small child.

“My dear great-granddaughter, I have come to you to guide you on this journey which you are about to embark. Your destiny is to become one of the most powerful Fires Angel's that ever lived.

This journey will be a treacherous one, but it is a journey that must be taken. Our paths will cross again granddaughter until then trust only those who your soul tells you to trust.”

With those final words, Sophia Willow faded away into a misty fog.

Jasmine jerked her hands quickly from the vault. Jasmine did not if she had just let her imagination run away with her or if she really had a true vision. Whatever it was, she would heed the warning to trust only those who she felt that she could trust and at present, she did not know if she could trust anyone within this castle.

The only thing that she knew for certain was that she wanted to run as far away from Castle Blaze as she could.

Jasmine headed toward the doors, she had no desire to stay a minute longer in her grandmother’s burial chamber or in the castle for that matter.

Hunter called after her. “Jasmine! Where are you going?”

She did not reply. Jasmine continued walking toward the door, but by the time that she reached the doors Hunter had passed her up and stood in front of the doors blocking her passage.

  “Move!” she shouted.

“No, I won't, I won't let you leave. Not just yet,” he quickly added.

“You won't let me?” Jasmine replied. Now this was the one thing that Jasmine would not tolerate, being told what she could or could not do.” I will not be held here against my will!”

“I don't want to hold you against your will either,” Hunter replied. “I just need you to stay and let me explain to you why it is that I brought you here.”

Hunter did not know that Jasmine had -had the vision of her great grandmother.

Jasmine already had a pretty good idea why Hunter had brought her to her great grandmothers final resting place. The vault must have a magical spell cast upon it. A spell that was surely meant for Jasmine. If she was to believe all of the magical witch and vampire --supernatural nonsense that was supposedly going on around her.

Jasmine relaxed somewhat and agreed to let him explain whatever it was that he so desired. Hunter went on to tell her most of what had transpired between he and Sophia Willow many years ago. He had told her what she already knew that she was indeed the descendant of a legendary Fire Angel. Hunter had also told how he vowed to be there as her protector and guardian for all eternity.

Jasmine did not know how to respond to all that he had said to her, especially that last part on being her protector and guardian.

It was close to dawn when Hunter Blaise led her back to her quarters, leaving her there in her room to take in all that had been revealed to her this night.

Before he retired to his own quarters, he assured her that she could count on him for anything that she ever needed or desired. He bent over and placed his lips on hers, an ever so slight tingle could be felt by the both of them. He bid her goodnight and left her with the promise to see her again the following evening at sundown.

  Chapter 31

The time had come for jasmine to decide if she would return to her solitary world hidden away in the Florida orange groves or would she stay in this magnificent castle hidden from the outside world deep in the Carpathian Mountains. She could explore more of this castle and gather information on grandmother Sophia Willow, whom these people seem to know about than she. She could do a little more research on this witch clan that seems to think that she is some powerful Fire Angel, and these people or beings who think themselves to be vampires. This was a choice she needed time to ponder. Why couldn’t she give this unknown world a chance? If anything, it would make for a great vampire romance novel.

The wind could be heard whistling around the castle walls as Jasmine Willow closed the heavy curtains around her bed blocking out the rising sun and let the sounds of Castle Blaise lull her to sleep.
