Wicked Honeymoon (An Ivy Morgan Mystery Book 19)

“Maybe we should call the detective and tell him to check that out.”
“I think the detective has things well in hand. He clearly cared about Cara.”
“Yeah, about Cara ... .”
Jack moved his hand to her back. “You’re bothered by the fact that you made Cara visible to everyone.”
“That’s weird, but I’m more bothered by the fact that I didn’t realize I was doing it. If I can’t control these things, Jack, other people could find out. Tyson heard us talking. What if he tells someone?”
“What if he tells someone that we worked with a ghost to take him down? They’ll think he’s bucking for an insanity plea.”
“But—”
“Honey, you don’t have to worry about that aspect of it. The detective is going to have a lot of questions regarding Cara. If Tyson cuts a deal and leads them to the bodies and she’s among them, then it’s going to turn into a local legend. Something tells me Cara would like that.”
“I guess.” Ivy rubbed the back of her neck. “She’s gone now. She was gone before she left our view. She just kind of faded away.”
“Does that make you sad?”
“No. I think she moved on to a better place. Harper says she’s seen that better place, so I’m happy if she found peace. I just don’t understand how I could be responsible for making everybody see her.”
“I don’t understand either. You did it, though. I know you did.”
“What about the weird footprints? We still don’t know what caused those.”
“I’m going with Bigfoot.”
Ivy choked on a laugh. “Excuse me?”
“It just enhances the story, and the truth is, we have no idea what caused them. I have no intention of sticking around to find out.”
“Yeah, me either.” Ivy lapsed into silence for a beat and then spoke again. “Aren’t you afraid of me?” Her eyes were earnest as she searched his face.
“Nope. I’m never afraid of you.”
“But—”
“No.” He shook his head, firm. “I love you. I love everything about you. This is just a new facet of ... you.” He flashed a smile. “I happen to like you and think you’re a marvel.”
“And I think that I could get us in trouble if I’m not careful.”
“You’re aware of it now,” he pointed out. “You can be careful. I’m really hopeful there aren’t going to be ghosts hanging around our tropical paradise. In fact, to ensure it, I’m thinking of locking us in our room the entire time.”
She snickered at his expression. “What about the beach?”
“We’ll enjoy the beach ... when it’s just the two of us. In fact, I would be happy if we didn’t see another person for the rest of our honeymoon.”
Honestly, Ivy wasn’t opposed to the idea. “So ... camping is done. Despite everything that happened, I’m a little sad.”
“Camping isn’t done.”
“I thought you were going to declare yourself an indoor boy.”
He laughed. “There will be camping. It might be in our yard, or out at your fairy ring, but there will be camping. It’s just not going to be anytime soon.”
“So ... a moratorium of six months?”
“Dream on. We’re talking at least a year.”
Ivy heaved out a sigh. “I guess that’s fair.”
“More than fair.” He leaned in and pressed a kiss to the corner of her mouth. “All we need is each other. The rest of this, the witch stuff, is going to work itself out.”
“And if it doesn’t?”
“I’m not a defeatist. I have you so I believe anything is possible.”
She pressed her eyes shut and then grinned. “You always know exactly what to say to make me feel better.”
“Not always. Today, though, I know exactly what you need ... and it starts with a bath.”
“In other words, you want to get me naked.”
“Yup.” He slipped his arm under her legs and heaved her up, never breaking eye contact. “The honeymoon officially begins now.”
“Long live the Morgans,” Ivy teased.
“That’s exactly what I was thinking.”

About the Author
I want to thank everyone who takes the time to read my novels. I have a particular brand of humor that isn’t for everyone – and I know that.
If you liked the book, please take a few minutes and leave a review. An independent author does it all on their own, and the reviews are helpful. I understand that my characters aren’t for everyone, though. There’s a lot of snark and sarcasm in my world – and I know some people don’t like that.
Special thanks go out to Heidi Bitsoli and Phil VanHulle for correcting the (numerous) errors that creep into a work of fiction.
If you’re interested in my future works, follow me on Facebook, Twitter or join my mailing list. I do not believe in spam. I only announce new releases or free promotions.
This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
