Which is when I decided to follow my gut - to propose right there, in the clubhouse, instead of later as we danced under the stars. Maybe, just maybe, Maggie’s clubhouse would give me the extra special push I needed to actually make this woman mine.
I dropped to one knee as I fished around in my left pocket for the silver ring I had dropped in there that morning.
“Leia, will you be mine?” I asked, holding up the ring in the light, the diamonds twinkling in the late afternoon sun.
And then she was crying and hugging me and slipping the ring on her finger and saying, “Yes oh yes oh yes,” and crying some more…
And I had never seen such a beautiful sight in my life.
