Felix kissed my cheek. “I don’t know what’s running through your mind right now, but let it rest for at least tonight. Just allow yourself to be happy.”
“I’m not sure I know how.”
“When I was going berserk on that field, do you know what brought me back?”
“My kind, loving words?” I cracked.
“In a way, yes. No matter what happens to me; I’m going to know you. I’m going to love you. That will always ground me. Even battle demons and warrior faeries can love.”
I looked up at him and snuggled closer. He really knew how to say the kindest things.
He began to slowly rub my back and I allowed myself to melt into his touch. “So, whatever comes our way, we can handle it. And we will save talk of the new mission Azrael just told me Monica sent us for tomorrow.”
New mission? The hell? I shot up, ready to fight the air. Did that wench really think we were going to work for her again?
Upon seeing my rage-filled face, Felix grinned and rolled me on top of him. “Tomorrow.” He kissed me again, this time on the lips, instantly simmering my boiling anger.
Yep, he was right, save telling off an archangel for another day. Tonight, I would enjoy my bit of happiness. I didn’t know when I would have it again.
