They entered the office and Hadeon was there staring at the computer screen looking serious as usual.

“You took care of it?” Hadeon asked.

“Da,” Paulo replied and Andriy took a seat on the sofa, leaning back and putting one arm against the top. He crossed one of his legs over the other, his ankle leaning on his thigh in a relaxing position. But he didn’t look relaxed, he looked perplexed and angry.

  Hadeon looked at him.

  “Something wrong?” he asked.

Andriy looked at Paulo. His brother Paulo was fierce. Just like Hadeon, he always took what he wanted, and when it came to women they were never at a zero supply. The thought of trying to get Fina out of their heads by fucking another had backfired on Andriy last night. He sent the blonde home only a minute after hooking up with her at the bar downtown. She wasn’t Fina.

Andriy glared at Hadeon and Paulo.

“When are we seeing Fina again?” he said in a harsh tone.

Hadeon squinted slightly as if the mention of her did something to him. They were all feeling the same things and not talking about it. They didn’t talk about women. Not ever. They got what they wanted and didn’t even share if it were good, or talk shit like other men did. It was meaningless sex. Paulo figured that out pretty damn fast the moment he held Fina in his arms and kissed her tenderly. He didn’t kiss any woman tenderly. Not even to seduce her because he didn’t need to. Women found them attractive and basically attacked.

“I don’t know,” Hadeon said and then leaned back in the chair and stared at Andriy.

Andriy looked so fucking serious and on edge, it bothered Paulo. He could feel it. Sense his brothers needs and desires. It was crazy. The three of them never took a woman together. Yeah, they screwed a few women one after the next but not together. Never wanted to. Maybe because their connection was so strong, and they didn’t want to share that with a woman, a stranger they were using for sex only? He didn’t know but Paulo had been processing his thoughts a lot lately. He had a feeling that if the three of them took Fina to bed, they would never be the same, and she would be the first women they took together. To fill her body as one was getting harder, and harder to ignore wanting.

Hadeon went back to working on the computer.

“Be sure to speak to the new team about keeping eyes on any other suspicious regulars. We don’t need a situation here that involves cops. I have a few more hours of work here, then we’ll be done for the day. Friday night we’re meeting up with Royce and Turbo for drinks. Some place a few blocks from here. Lancasters night club.”

  “Why?” Andriy barked.

“For drinks, Andriy. They’re friends and we are going to be in New York for a while. We all do business together, and it’s good to keep trustworthy men around us,” Hadeon stated.

“Trust no one, Hadeon. We know this by now.”

“These are good men, Andriy. I understand you’re in a pissed off mood, but get over it. You haven’t even fucked the woman yet and she’s in your head. If you do get the chance to have Fina, will you be able to let her go? To dismiss her? To push her away as if she is like others? Ask yourself that. Decide whether she can be trusted to be in our lives deeper than any other women ever. This is different. We don’t do commitments. So get your head out of your ass. The reality with a woman as perfect as Fina is that she’ll want more. She’ll want to know things, to be close, to learn our secrets. When she finds out who we really are, what we went through, and learn of our pasts, of our capabilities to interrogate, to beat down, to kill our enemies, how do you think a woman like Fina will react?”

He readjusted his position in the chair.

“Now go. I have work that needs to be done.” He dismissed them and Andriy stood up and headed out of the office. Paulo followed. Hadeon was right. What did the three of them have to offer a woman like Fina other than sex? He knew it would be mind blowing. He felt as if he could come in his pants from kissing her and cupping her large breasts, inhaling her shampoo and feeling how soft, how delicate and feminine she was in his arms. Hadeon was right. They would want more and more, but without giving anything of themselves because they were ashamed of their pasts. Their time in prison, and the men they killed to survive and to also make a stand as soldiers, enforcers to Dmitri Sanclare. The man who saved their lives, and gave them life after surviving Hell.

  Chapter 4

What the hell were Jonah and Bader doing at Cassidy’s restaurant? Their company they worked for wasn’t even located near here? Did they follow me?

Fina was trying to pay attention to what Misty and Cassidy were saying about plans Friday evening but she couldn’t stop glancing toward the crowded bar. She took a picture with her phone and then kept it next to her. If they said something to her, touched her or tried anything she was going to the police. They called and texted every day this week and multiple times.

“So we’ll meet up there around eight. I want you to meet Gabriella. She’s a wild one, but she has great connections you could use when looking for favors and unique things for the parties you organize, Fina. She can be a bit eccentric, but you’ll get along with her well. Plus she has contacts for anything else you might need, even handmade things to really make the parties unique like you enjoy doing,” Misty told Fina.

“Okay, that sounds great. I can’t wait to meet her,” she said and glanced back at the bar.

“Is everything okay? You keep looking toward the bar like you see someone you know and are annoyed with?” Cassidy asked then took a sip from her ice tea. Fina had known these two women for about a year. They helped out with events she did that required assistants. She didn’t know them well enough to tell them about the situation with Jonah and Bader. Both women were very attractive. Both had blonde hair like her, too, except Fina’s was longer.

“I’m okay, I thought I saw someone I knew but it isn’t her,” she said and then tried ignoring the fact that Johan and Bader were there and instead focused on the conversation. She did such a good job of it that by the time they paid the bill and were going their separate ways she looked back at the bar and the men weren’t there. She released a sigh of relief.

Fina headed to the right and toward the subway station figuring she would go back home, check on her day trading account, and figure out her strategy before Friday came. A glance at her cell phone, she saw an alert and needed to move to the side out of the way of crowds of people heading the same directions as her. She couldn’t help but smile. She just made some money.

Suddenly an arm wrapped around her midsection and Jonah pressed up against her back.

“Fina, we need to talk. Why are you avoiding us?” he asked and he inhaled against her neck. She twisted to the right only for him to pull her back and even grip her wrist tightly. She felt the pain and knew he was getting more aggressive.

“Let go of me. Release my wrist now, Jonah.”

“No,” he said through clenched teeth and then kissed her neck.

“Let go of me,” she yelled and Bader cupped her cheeks and kissed her on the mouth, hard. She tried pushing them away, but he as bigger and didn’t budge. Jonah pulled her wrist back hard and instead of resisting, she shoved back and elbowed him in the gut. He grunted and Bader released her lips and she screamed out for help finally grabbing people’s attention.

“Hey, let go of her,” some big guy said, and then other people started coming closer yelling at them.

Bader pointed at her. “This isn’t over, Fina. Not by a long shot.” He grabbed Johan and they hurried away.

“Are you okay? Ex-boyfriend or something?” one woman asked.

She was shaking and embarrassed as the people said things to her.

“Call the cops,” one guy in a business suit said and some black woman spoke up next. “Why bother. The cops won’t do anything,” she said, and Fina looked around to be sure that Bader and Jonah weren’t there.

“I’m fine. Thank you for the help.”

  “You should call the co
ps if those men are harassing you,” the guy said to her.

  “I am. I’m going to.”

  “Good.”

Fina hurried away from the people and toward the bus station. She needed to go to the police. She had to file an order of protection against them. She had to do something. They basically just attacked her, forcible kissed her and restrained her on a busy street. What would they do if they caught her alone one night? She rubbed her wrist and the tears flowed. She didn’t want to go home to her apartment. She was scared. Who should she call? Donata? Maybe she would go with her to the police station? She didn’t want anyone to know. She needed to keep this from all the guys. What if Hadeon, Paulo, and Andriy found out? They would think she couldn’t take care of herself and that she was some sort of tease or something. They would think the worst. Why that bothered her, she didn’t know. She liked them. She couldn’t stop thinking about them all week. If one of them were with her this never would have happened.

But they were players. They screwed around with women all the time, didn’t commit, and were all wrong for her. She held her phone, her hand shaking. The scent of Jonah and Bader’s colognes filled her senses and were embedded in her clothing. She wanted to spit after being forcibly kissed like that.

She looked at her phone, the tears fell. If she called Rayanna then Dmitri would know and he might tell Andriy, Hadeon, and Paulo. They would think she was weak and needed protection or worse, that she was somehow at fault and looking for attention. She wasn’t ready to be intimate with them or give them more control over her. No, she needed to call someone she could trust to keep this a secret for a while longer as she figured out what to do next. She didn’t know if it was the best thing to do or not, but it seemed Adelina always had answers and connections. The phone rang and she couldn’t even talk.

“Adelina,” she said, her voice cracking.

“Fina, what’s wrong?” she asked, immediately knowing something was up.

  “I need help.”

“What? How bad? Where are you? I can have Vinny, Sunny, or one of the others pick you up or meet you.”

“No Adelina, please. I don’t want them to know. I don’t want anyone to know. Please, Adelina, can I meet you somewhere? I’m on Broadway and Terrace. I can take a bus, taxi, or subway to your office or somewhere in between.”

“Go around the corner to Byran and stand near the police station. I’ll meet you there.”

  “Okay. Please, Adelina. No one.”

Fina waited there, looking at her wrist that was already bruising and red with finger marks. She still couldn’t stop shaking. Fifteen minutes passed when the SUV pulled up and immediately Adelina got out of the passenger door. Fredo and Toro, Sunny and Vinny’s cousins, were with her. Adelina told them to wait there and then she headed right for Fina and pulled her into a hug. Fina cried. “I asked no one come with you.”

“You know I can’t go anywhere alone. Fredo and Toro won’t tell a soul, unless it’s necessary. What the hell is going on?” Adelina asked.

Fina explained the whole story to her. Everything from the start and up to today.

“Fucking assholes. Who the hell do they think they are?” Adelina asked and then shook her head.

“What do I do? Do you think an order of protection will work?”

“It’s a start and if they try worse at least it’s on record that you reported the harassment and them stalking you. You should have done that sooner.”

“I realize that now. Today they were super aggressive. I’m scared,” she said and rubbed her wrist.

“Let me see.” Adelina raised her hand and saw the bruising, the redness and finger marks.

“Here’s your two choices. One, we do this the legit way and see if the police can be any help, you file an order of protection, show proof that they are harassing you, which you said you have recordings, pictures and of course this bruising, or, two, we let the family handle it,” Adelina said and held Fina’s gaze.

“I don’t want anyone to know, and I don’t know what Jonah and Bader are capable of. What if they get threatened and it makes them angrier and then they try worse?” Fina asked.

“Fina, by the time the guys get through with these two assholes, they won’t ever be in the same place as you ever again.”

“I don’t want anyone to know about this. I didn’t even sleep with them or really even fool around. I don’t know if an order of protection will make them stop or make them angrier and more determined to scare me. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want anyone to get into trouble or make my problems theirs.”

“Slow down. You’re overthinking this. They grabbed you on a busy street, bruised your wrist, and forcibly kissed you. What if you’re walking home alone at night, or they break into your apartment, then what?”

Fina felt the tears fill her eyes.

“Come on. You won’t even have to walk into the police station and take the chance of getting some jerk who thinks you’re lying or tries to minimize what is happening here.” She pulled Fina toward the SUV.

  “You okay, honey?” Alfredo asked.

“She will be. Head to Fina’s place please,” Adelina said and they got into the SUV.

Adelina pulled out her cell phone. “Let me see your wrist and then a full picture of you.” She took the pictures and then made a call.

“It’s Adelina, I need a favor,” she said and looked at Fina, giving her a calm smile.

“Of course it’s legit, moron, why else would I call a detective?” she said and then chuckled listening to the person she was talking to. Fina listened, too, and couldn’t believe it.

“I’ll send the pictures over now, and then the recordings, and any pictures Fina has, as well. I appreciate your quick assistance with this. Today’s incident was extreme and she’s very afraid. I don’t know what they’re capable of, but this is your line of work. Can this happen quickly?” Adelina asked and then covered the mouth of the phone.

“Are you available to sign any papers needed tomorrow morning at ten?” she asked.

“Yes,” Fina said and then Adelina continued to talk to the person, moving on to talk bullshit about some place in Queens, and then she mentioned an Uncle Johnny before laughing and ending the call, confirming tomorrow at ten.

“He’ll get everything in order. Plus you won’t even have to go before the judge either. His uncle plays golf with one of the judges in charge of this stuff. He can sign off on it, too. It will work out fine. In a couple of hours those two assholes won’t know what hit them, and they’ll be locked up for a little while until things get worked out,” Adelina told her.

“Thank you so much, Adelina. God, I was scared and didn’t know what to do. I was afraid to even go out later or tomorrow night to meet friends in a half business, half pleasure night. I think I’ll cancel anyway. I don’t think I’ll feel safe or comfortable.”

“Nonsense. These two morons will be in jail tomorrow. You’ll have your order of protection and they won’t be able to come within a hundred feet of you, and they’ll get the message loud and clear. It will work out fine and no one needs to know a thing.”

“Thank you, Adelina. Thank you so much.”

“Hey, I want you safe, and if they dare come near you anyway, you call me. They won’t have a second chance. Understand me?”

  Fina nodded and Adelina smiled.

“Now, tell me about Friday. What’s the half business, half pleasure thing?” she asked and Fina told Adelina all about Misty and Cassidy and the woman they knew and how her busy she was with the party planning business. By the time they dropped her off at her apartment, Fina was feeling pretty positive that it would all work out fine. Danger was a thing of the past, for sure.

  * * * *

Hadeon wasn’t too happy about sticking around Landcasters night club, but Royce and Turbo wanted to buy them a drink after the meeting they had upstairs, He shook his head as Royce gave his shoulder a nudge.

“You guys not into the action at the cl
ub scene?” he asked.

Hadeon looked around them. There were a lot of good looking women, young, flirty, and looking to have a good time no strings attached. Those were the types he and his brothers always ended up with to ease their needs. Tonight though, as he stood by the bar with his brothers and friends, he couldn’t help but to see things a little differently.

“Net,” Hadeon said and looked away from the dance floor and toward the other bar to the side of them.

“I don’t know. I think you guys could find something that interests you,” Turbo said to him, Paulo, and Andriy. They were there fifteen minutes and already women approached them several times. Just then three women came over to them and one placed a hand on Andriy’s shoulder and smiled.

“You are one big guy,” she said slowly and licked her lips, showing off her boobs in the tight green metallic dress she wore.

The others started flirting and then Royce widened his eyes as Hadeon was telling the women to take a hike.

“Holy crap is that Fina?” Royce said to Turbo and then Turbo gave a wave. Hadeon and his brothers turned to look and sure enough there was Fina with three other women leaving a table and heading through the dance floor. Her eyes landed on the women and she shook her head and turned away.

“Shit,” Hadeon said and Royce and Turbo chuckled as Andriy headed after Fina, and Hadeon and Paulo told the women to get lost.

“Is there something going on with you guys and Fina we didn’t know about?” Turbo asked Hadeon and Paulo.

Hadeon exhaled and looked to see if Andriy caught up to her.

“No one mentioned anything to us,” Turbo said and held Hadeon’s gaze.

“Nothing is going on,” Paulo told them.

“Then why the hell did Andriy run after her?” Royce asked and chuckled.

Turbo gave his arm a slap.

“We’re just fucking with you. We saw you with her the other night at the club and figured you were making a move. She’s gorgeous,” Royce said.

“Fucking hot. That body and long blonde hair. Smart, too. Heard she made most of her money being a day trader and she does party coordinating on the side,” Turbo added.
