“Chase Adams,” he says. “You have made my life wonderful. You have brought joy, when I had none before. You have brought ease and comfort, as well as happiness and sheer pleasure. I need to know one thing: will you marry me?” he asks in a tremulous voice.
I smile through my tears. I haven’t felt this happy before in my entire life. Emotions surge through me as I reach for his hands. “Yes, Blake, of course I’ll marry you,” I say through my tears. “I’d love to be your husband.”
He kisses me tenderly and places the ring on my finger. “I can’t wait to be your husband too, my love.”
I turn to look at him, clasping that handsome face between my hands.
“But what about you? I don’t have a ring for you,” I stammer.
He smirks. “Here,” he says, pulling out a matching band and slipping it onto his finger. “This works, doesn’t it?”
I stare suspiciously at him. “How long have you been planning this, Blake?” I ask, searching for the truth. He smirks again.
“Officially, I bought this a month ago,” he says, dangling the rest of his sentence in front of me. I clear my throat and nudge him for more.
“And unofficially?” I ask with my eyebrows raised.
He laughs out loud this time. “Well unofficially, I had the jeweler put our bands on hold after our fifth date,” he says. “I just knew, Chase. I knew that we were destined to be married, husband and husband.”
The breath catches in my throat as I gaze into that cerulean gaze.
“So am I going to be Mr. Chase King?”
He nods, assertive and sure. “Yes. I would love for you to take my last name,” he says before leaning in for a deep passionate kiss. “It would mean the world to me.”
I open my mouth beneath his, giving myself to the adoration that surges between us. The CEO went from being my secret lover to my boyfriend and now, he’s going to be my husband. He’s still my boss, but we can live with that because we understand each other on an intimate level. After all, I was born for him, and he for me, and we’ll never let anything get in the way of our love again.
