Broken Deeds MC: Second Generation #1
Page 3
I glance up to see Bee nod in understanding. Fuck. Like I said, this woman blindly trusts me as I trust her, no matter how we rush through life and seemed to have skipped a few months of intimacy while we handled the dragging responsibilities of living.
“When I returned to the clubhouse, I grabbed the file of the case Galen was working on before he was killed. There hasn’t been anything new added to it and those cases are still unsolved. Are you able to run a few checks in the system? See if any cases like the ones mentioned in the file have popped up the last couple of months?”
I point at the file again and Bee leans forward to take it. “Sure, I’ll read through everything tomorrow and will let you know what I find.”
“I know it’s not connected with Galen’s murder,” I start, but Bee cuts me off.
“A mugger killed him, right? And you picking up this file after visiting Zuri…you want closure for Galen since it was his case?” she questions while glancing over the papers in her hand as she muses, “Sven was with him that night.”
“He was. Good thing too since he shot the mugger.” I release a deep breath. “You’re right, I grabbed the file to try and get some closure. Galen never got to wrap it up and over time I haven’t been able to either.”
Sadness hits me remembering as if Galen died yesterday. Sven–a cop and an acquaintance–called me back then. He explained how Galen wanted to meet because he wanted to go over some details. He said they were walking out of the bar and when they passed the alley the homeless man wanted their money, held them at gunpoint. Galen lunged forward and the man fired, killing him point blank. Sven returned fire, killing the homeless man.
Without looking up Bee asks, “Sven still around?”
“No. He wanted to become a prospect but with the shit happening with the CIA at the time and the shift in leadership, I didn’t want anyone new adding to the mess. Wyatt ran into Sven two months ago and he did ask again if he could–” I shake my head. “Let’s just say we all agreed not to add anyone new for the time being.”
Bee gives me a soft smile. “No outsiders you mean? With you guys having enough new…family blood following in the footsteps of the first generation.”
A grin spreads my face. “Yeah. Kray’s twin boys, both prospects now, they start tomorrow. We have enough on our hands with those two.”
“You mean the stray pussy have enough on their hands.” Bee snickers.
I wince at the reminder. “Yeah, let’s not discuss that shit.”
Bee giggles but instantly turns serious when she holds up a piece of paper. “Every single case in this file says the victim is a criminal. Is this why the cases are unsolved? The government think it’s a low priority, one less bad guy on the streets to worry about?”
I shake my head. “Criminal or not, it’s a human life that’s been taken by a killer. Someone out there has blood on their hands and we need to know who it is.”
“Most are tiny drug dealers…hmmm…I see. You want to know if there might have been a bigger fish cleaning the streets to make room for himself. Something like that?”
“Something like that. I have no clue and like you mentioned this one scenario, I’ve tried searching for a few other reasons but couldn’t find any link or reason. These aren’t pressing matters but–”
“But it was Galen’s case he was working on when he died and you want it solved. For his sake,” she easily supplies.
“Yeah,” I croak.
She closes the file and places it back on the table. Standing, Bee stalks over and leans in to give me a kiss as she murmurs against my lips, “We won’t stop until we find out what happened to every single one in this file, okay?”
I’m about to reply but Queenie gives a shrill cry.
“I’ll get her. Why don’t you take a shower and wait for me in bed? I’ll be right there,” she says and it sounds like music to my ears.
Even if I’m tired as hell, I can’t wait to get in bed together. It’s been months of short nights for the both of us and I make a vow right here–right fucking now–I need to divide my tasks and responsibilities better. I could at least try to make it to bed early to have some time together and hold her in my arms. I miss our time together; I miss her. Even if we’re right here.
I’m OCD with handling everything myself but today has been a day with shoving my nose into the fact that life can be over in the blink of an eye. I owe it to my daughter–to my wife–to be there for them. And how can I when I’m juggling a truckload of tasks?
Another thing to add to the agenda tomorrow; handover a few tasks to my VP. It’s been a little over a year since I became the president and I’ve proven my worth, now it’s time to lean on my brothers, knowing we have a solid brotherhood. This is also why the only new blood added to the MC will be guys who are already family.
Second generation Broken Deeds MC since the first generation made loads of offspring to keep it flowing. Though some are too young and still either getting an education or are in training. We handle cases for the government and this means every single one of us should have both working experience as the correct training and education.
Bee starts to walk away but I grab her wrist and pull her against me. “Starting tomorrow I will hand over a few tasks to clear some of my schedule. I’ll make sure to come home earlier every day, okay?”
She taps my president’s patch. “I became yours knowing who you are and what it all entails, Archer. I’m right here. I understand. And I’m not going anywhere.”
My fucking heart rips from my chest to melt with hers. Fuck. She already had it in her hands all her damn life but the kind of solid bond of friendship and understanding we have is rare.
And she needs to know, “I’ll never take you for granted, Bee. Eyes wide open, walking through fire right along with me deserves the same kind of treatment in return.”
“I can think of a treatment or two I would like in return,” she huskily replies but steps away just as fast as she heads for the stairs. “Shower, Archer. And wait for me.”
“Always,” I vow with a damn smile in my voice as I watch her curvy ass sway out of sight.
I make a final round to make sure everything is locked before I head upstairs. Hearing Bee hum a song to our daughter, I stroll into our bedroom and start to undress. It takes a few minutes to take a shower and get ready for bed. But when my head hits the pillow my body can’t live up to the promise of waiting for my woman when I quickly crash into oblivion as sleep overtakes me.
Waking up in an empty bed adds to feeling like an asshole for falling asleep before my woman could join me. I stroll into the bathroom and do my business before I dress and head downstairs where I find Queenie in her playpen.
Leaning in, I take her into my arms and take my time to greet my little queen. She starts to babble and I gently put her back and hand her a rattle, instantly bringing it to her mouth. I spend a few more minutes watching her play before I stalk into the kitchen in search of Bee.
“Coffee?” she questions and holds out a mug for me to take.
I place it on the counter and reach for her instead. Gripping her hips, I drag her close and nuzzle her neck. A sexy as fuck giggle escapes her and it makes me rock hard.
“I could eat you for breakfast,” I murmur against her skin, feeling her shiver at the mere thought of having my mouth on her.
Bee’s fingers slide into my hair, nails raking my skin as she pulls my head back and crashes her mouth to mine. Feverish. Demanding. Starved for my touch as I am for hers. My hands slide to her ass and I pull her closer to press my hard dick against her belly, making sure she knows exactly what she does to me.
I devour the moan vibrating on my tongue and I feel as if our lives would end if I can’t bury myself inside her right this damn second. Reaching between our bodies, I start to open the button of her jeans but there’s loud knocking on the door, interrupting our moment.
“Fucking hell, why now, dammit,” I growl.
“You can say that
again,” Bee huffs and closes the button of her jeans. “Drink your coffee while I get the door. We both know it’ll be someone coming for you so you’d better get some caffeine inside you.”
“I’d rather get some of me inside you,” I grumble as she walks out of the kitchen.
Her laughter only makes my dick harder. Releasing another curse, I snatch the mug from the counter and take a few sips of coffee when I see Wyatt stroll into the kitchen.
“VP,” I grunt.
“Prez.” Wyatt shoots me a grin, as if the fucker knows he interrupted something between me and Bee.
Bee strolls into the kitchen with Queenie on her hip.
“Hey, beautiful,” Wyatt coos. “How are you today?”
“Stop fucking flirting with my daughter and state your business,” I grumble.
“Use your dick, don’t be one,” Wyatt snaps back. “I’m here because I wanted to touch base with you about the new case, the one thrown at us yesterday.”
I place my mug on the counter and take Queenie from Bee. “The one with the four-year-old kid?”
“Yeah. It was the father, I’m sure. But I did a little research this morning. Seriously, an hour of work and I can’t believe other authorities didn’t catch it, but get this…the fucker is busy with starting a new family. New wife, new life, and he obviously wants a new kid since the four-year-old with the ex didn’t quite fit in.”
I try to hold back my anger and cuddle Queenie close. To think an asshole murdered his own kid because he didn’t want to be linked with his ex; wanting a clean cut to start over with a new woman. There are some seriously twisted people walking this fucked-up planet.
“Do you have the proof you need to bring him to justice?” I ask through clenched teeth.
“Working on it, but I need your eyes on the shit I found because we can’t screw this up, one chance is all we get.”
I nod at Wyatt’s words.
Bee takes Queenie from my hands. “Go, I have work to do too.”
She shoots me a wink as she stalks out of the kitchen. A moment later she strolls back inside emptyhanded and I’m sure she’s placed Queenie back in her playpen.
“I’m going to make some more coffee and get behind the laptop. Oh, don’t forget to ask your sister to swing by this weekend. Your mother was asking about her, Esmee has been avoiding her calls and messages.”
“Esmee is busy with her new job, her new man, and her new life. I’ll call her and extend the invitation, but I’m not making any promises.”
She places a kiss on my cheek. “It’s all I’m asking.”
Bee’s about to step away but I wrap an arm around her waist to keep her close.
“A damn swift kiss on the cheek won’t do, woman,” I growl and take her lips in a hot kiss.
When I pull back, I relish in the way her eyes are still closed followed by a dazed look when she blinks a few times.
“I’ll be home early,” I promise.
She leans in close and whispers, “Another promise for sex? Are you sure you’re able to stay awake this time?”
Motherfucker. I’m about to smack her ass but she dances out of my reach. Jabbing Wyatt’s shoulder she says, “Take him out of here and get to work, boys. I have things to do.”
“Fly, fly away, little Bee,” I murmur. “But I’ll catch you every damn time.”
She leans against the counter, lips twitching. “Uh huh.” Her head slowly tilts to the side, eyes closing as she starts to snore.
I repeat. Motherfucker.
A growl rips from me and Bee squeals before dashing out of the kitchen. Wyatt laughs a full belly laugh and shakes his head.
“Man, I’m not sure I even want to know what married life is all about with you two. But the impression you guys give me? There’s loads of action…but is it the right kind?”
“Shut up,” I grumble and head out of the house, dead set to get this day over with so I can return home early and spank my wife’s ass before I sink my dick deep inside her sweet pussy.
CHAPTER THREE
– BEATRICE –
“You smell delicious. Grandma is going to eat you,” my mother coos and tickles Queenie, making her giggle.
“Wait till there’s a surprise in her diaper, then you wouldn’t be all excited about the way she smells,” my dad grumbles but the corner of his mouth twitches when my mother shoots him a glare over her shoulder.
“Archer working again?” my father asks in such a tone it makes his dislike known about the fact Archer isn’t around much.
I know Archer is working most times they come to visit and how I’m always swinging by their house with only Queenie with me, but he knows damn well Archer loves me and would do anything to protect his daughter and myself.
I narrow my eyes. “He’s waiting outside until you leave because your diaper smells.”
My mother laughs and joins my father on the couch. Bumping his shoulder she says, “Stop being grumpy.” She glances at me and adds, “His bike broke down this morning and he had to walk home.”
“You should have brought it in for repairs a long time ago, dad,” I scold.
“I don’t like not being able to ride my bike when I take it apart.”
“Well, now you can’t ride it at all,” my mother simply states. She points at my laptop. “Did you take it apart to check?”
I shove the tiny tracking device in her direction. “I did.”
Dad points at a sticker still on the laptop and grins. “The one you found is a distraction for the obvious. We always add a new high-tech one.”
“Thanks, I’ll rip it off later.”
My father turns the laptop and pulls off the sticker himself. Taking the other tracker off the table, he shoves both into his pocket. “We’re all about recycling.”
“We would like to ask you something.” I tilt my head and wait for my mother to continue.
“Would it be okay for our granddaughter to stay a night at our place? We could either bring her by in the morning or you could pick her up yourself, whatever works.”
I give the both of them a smile. “Addictive to the cuddles and the way she smells, huh?”
My father stands and strolls over to take Queenie out of her playpen. My father might not have been happy–overstatement of the year–when Archer and I got together, but when I was pregnant it all turned around. And the first time he held Queenie I watched him melt into a puddle. He still might be grumpy and mention Archer in a bad way, but he doesn’t mean any of it.
My dad secretly is a big grizzly bear; a stuffed one meant for cuddles. How he handles Queenie reminds me how safe I always felt when he hugged me close as a kid. I love my parents and I love the both of them spending time with their grandchild.
“Sure. I’ll grab her bottles and pack a bag.” I try not to sound too eager since my mind is obviously on having the night alone with Archer.
Fingers crossed there won’t be any club interruptions so we can finally have some sex. Yikes. Now that does sound too eager in my head.
“I’ll help,” my mother says and follows me up the stairs.
I pack an overnight bag while my mother is leaning against the door.
“I thought you said you’d help?” I question.
She tilts her head. “Are you okay?”
I hand her the bag. “I am. And you guys taking Queenie till tomorrow gives me some free time to dive into some work. I’m actually itching to let my fingers dance over the keyboard, it’s been way too long.”
She shoots me a grin. “There’s my girl. If you need anything, I’m just a phone call away. And you know we could take her for two days if you need more time.”
I quickly shake my head. “I would miss her too much. I also don’t need to work, it’s just some distraction I’m craving. It also should be easy enough to work around the times she’s awake.”
“The offer stands. And I didn’t want to say anything with your father in the room, but I think you look amazing. Did you buy more than just
this one?” She points at my jeans.
“Yes, mom,” I fake grumble and stalk over to the closet.
Pulling out the other two pairs of jeans I bought, I show them to her and she holds them in front of her. “Where did you get them? I love this black one.”
“Why don’t we go to the mall together tomorrow afternoon when I pick Queenie up? There was a sweater I wasn’t sure I wanted but now I’m thinking I should have bought it.”
“We could get some coffee as well.” She throws the jeans on the bed and takes me into her arms. “I’m so proud of you. You have a beautiful little girl, you’re a sweet momma, and a good wife. It isn’t easy balancing it all, believe me, I know.”
My eyes start to sting with tears due to her words. “Thanks,” I croak.
She pulls back. “Come, let’s go downstairs before we both start to sob.”
A chuckle slips over my lips at the same time my mother gives me one of her proud and kind smiles. We head downstairs and shortly after the house is quiet and I have a large mug of coffee beside me. It’s currently getting cold because I’m engrossed with the laptop in front of me.
I’ve ran several checks about the cases in the file Archer gave me, and none of them make sense. There’s no connection. Nothing. Except for the fact these men were all previously convicted criminals who had new crimes linked to them and were all killed. Shot. Executed. As if someone took out the trash one by one.
The killings might have stopped for a few months but I’ve found three recent cases similar to these. And yet no other link other than adding them to the execution list. Maybe that’s it; someone out there made an execution list and is executing criminals.
I reach for the file to double check what line of shady business these men were active in and yet again it’s all different. Drugs. Money laundering with extortion involved. Head of a gang. All of them have a rap sheet a mile long. And yet…they were out there walking the streets freely to keep doing what they’re doing…until someone swooped in and ended their lives.
I slam my laptop closed and release a deep sigh. Taking the mug with the cold coffee into the kitchen, I empty it in the sink. Pouring some new hot black gold into my mug, I plant my ass against the counter and lean back, slowly blowing over the rim.
