In the betasapien world, anyone not following the commands of the leaders would be labeled as one who committed treason, an act punishable by death. For years after their escape became known, they were followed by spies, assassins, and knights. They endured loss of life as well as pain and suffering, but their belief in good and in the human race kept them going.

Their leader was named Connor Davis; in Australia, he was one of the leaders of the betasapiens and knew of their true intentions. He disagreed with most of the betasapien leaders and over time he made alliances with fellow like–minded betasapiens who shared his opinions and beliefs of respect, love, and friendship towards the humans.

Their plan to escape was not one that came fast; it was designed over a seven year period and done with the utmost secrecy and silence, and it was shared with those who he had the greatest trust in. The group of escapees numbered over five hundred, among those in the group was Grace Bailey; an ancestor of Jonah and Ava.

Although she was not among the leaders of the migrant group of betasapiens, her descendants would be the first generation of superhumans who were a combination of both the human and the betasapien species and her eventual choices would alter the course of history.

Among the pillars of her decisions was choosing to fall in love with a human. This decision of the heart was unknowingly a nexus point in the timelines for both the human race, as well as the earth, and it would have a ripple effect that even the life form known as our great universe couldn’t have even anticipated. It was an effect that was so far reaching, that the destinies of life forms unknown to us couldn’t have fathomed the consequences of it.

As Sarah rode in her airmobile trying to remember the past and putting the pieces of the future together she couldn’t believe what she may have uncovered; of the billions of betasapiens and humans, only very few believed in the Prophecy of the End.

As Sarah’s eagerness and anticipation of her findings engulfed her thoughts she wondered if she had made the right decision to leave Denver and head to Freedom City; but she knew what she may have uncovered was greater than her life in Denver and more important than anything she had ever done.

This message was far too important to communicate over open and unsecured lines of communication, and on top of that she had to make sure that her message made it to only a select few people, as she knew that not everyone could be trusted, especially with the many betasapien spies who hid in plain sight. For if the betasapiens knew of her discovery they would surely do everything in their power to stop it. She had no choice; she had to make the long and arduous trek to Alaska in the hope of saving the human race.

As she made her trek north she was passing where the city of Keystone, South Dakota once stood; as she looked in the distance, she saw the faces of what remained of the Presidents of Mount Rushmore. They were battered and falling apart due to the decades of battling the elements of nature.

She pondered what life was like during their era and wondered how the world turned to its current state of chaos and disarray. She contemplated on that thought for a moment, wishing that at the end of her trek, the end of the saga that was about to begin, that things would return to the way they were, and that peace, harmony, and safety would return to the human race.

As she guided her airmobile to the top of the mountain, she gazed upon the faces of the Presidents, and as she touched them, she hoped that she would one day return to a safe and peaceful home.

As she sat in the airmobile, she wondered what could have been if the betasapiens had not wanted to destroy all humans; how great of an alliance would it have been? Would it have saved the earth from what it is now? Would it have elevated the humans and betasapiens together as a team instead of the current reality which was the betasapiens starting a war with the humans and plunging the earth further into despair?

Before the First Great War, the humans and betasapiens enjoyed the greatest era on earth. The betasapiens were the brains of the operation, and the humans were the doers.

The betasapiens had the brain capacity and ideas to solve the problems of the earth such as pollution, overpopulation, and natural disasters. The humans, working hand in hand with the betasapiens had the numbers as far as the population was concerned to make the ideas become a reality. They worked together and for a few decades achieved heights that past generations of humans could have only dreamed of accomplishing; but once the true plans of the betasapiens were unleashed, the partnership ended, and both sides endured great loss of life with the humans enduring the worst of it.

Sarah, being a superhuman herself, which was part betasapien, wondered how her kind could have done that. What could have driven that amount of hate and animosity that the betasapiens felt towards the humans? How could they feel that as the humans posed no threat to them?

Sarah remembered her mother and father; they died many years ago during an attack by betasapien spies and knights on the Great Lakes region of the Americas. For years, the betasapiens had tried to overtake that part of the Americas in order to cut off the fresh water supply to the humans. But time and time again the humans protected the area knowing very well that staying in control of the Great Lakes region was vital to keeping the Americas free from the wrath of the betasapiens.

If this region were to fall it would be the end of one of the last free human strongholds on earth. Then, as she readied herself to get back onto her airmobile, she remembered the words her mother said to her, “Everything is destiny, or nothing is destiny,” and Sarah chose to believe that everything was destined. Her mother always told her she had the power to change lives, the lives of many people.

For many years, she took that advice to mean working at a place of God–worship and helping others and ensuring that people had somewhere to go to, and someone to lean on in their time of need. As she started her airmobile she now knew what her mother meant; she knew that if she made it to the superhuman leaders and passed her message and findings onto them, millions of lives would be saved.

Sarah’s destiny was now clearer to her than it had ever been; the fate of the human race depended on her, and there was no way she would let anything or anyone get in the way of their salvation. As she pressed the accelerator button on her airmobile it began to accelerate slowly; then suddenly the acceleration stopped, and her airmobile was being pulled backward.

She looked back but there was no one, then from her side, someone threw a lasso over her and tightened it; she was then yanked off her airmobile and pulled towards the ground. As she looked up her vision was blurred; she heard a voice of a woman saying, “Look at what we have here boss, a girl just for Amare. He can add her to his harem.”

Sarah tried talking but she was slurring from being hit on the head, and she said, “No, you can’t…do this. I have to go, I have to, please…you don’t understand…” and before she could finish her sentence she was grabbed from behind and as she felt an arm being locked around her neck she fought back and then suddenly as her enemies saw her skills and prowess they ganged up on her and as Sarah fought back, more and more of them began attacking her and as she continued to valiantly fight back, she was knocked unconscious and bound and then thrown into an airmobile.

And for the moment, her mission to save the human race had come to an abrupt end and she was now unknowingly embarking on a new mission to save her life, but more importantly she was also unknowingly embarking on a more important mission of finding her one true love as well as unlocking her destiny and taking the human race far beyond what any human that ever existed could have ever fathomed.

  CHAPTER NINE

Back in Denver; Dean, Jonah, and Ava returned home after leaving the rogue knight at the church. Jonah still felt guilty for not doing anything to help the knight, but Dean and Ava tried making him feel better about it.

“Don’t feel guilty; it’s not your fault. Whoever killed the knight was intent on doing it, and I doubt you would have been able to stop them. Plus you would have put dad and me in dang
er as well,” Ava said to him in hopes of making him feel better about the situation.

“No Ava I could have used my abilities, I’m getting used to them now and getting better at it. Dad and I have been practicing,” Jonah quickly said to her.

“It’s just practice Jonah, you’re not ready as yet. Perhaps in a few more months you’ll be ready, but not now,” Dean said.

Then, as Dean and Ava went to the apartment, Jonah headed to the roof of the building which they called home.

“Where are you going son?” Dean asked.

“Heading to the roof to practice……I need to be ready the next time something like this happens,” Jonah said, and with that he headed up to the rooftop of the building.

Back in the apartment, Dean went to the kitchen to get breakfast ready. Given the morning they had so far he thought it would be best if they had an old–fashioned family breakfast instead of the typical breakfast of nutrition pills. Although the pills provided healthier nutrition and sustenance as well as deceived the body into thinking it is actual food and liquid, there’s still something about the comfort of eating naturally that it can’t quite replace.

The pills, after all, weren’t meant to entirely replace food, it was only intended to use as required when someone was unable to eat or drink. But over time, the exception became the norm, and due to its flexibility and ease of use, it became the replacement of actual food for both the humans and the betasapiens.

As Dean prepared breakfast, he fondly remembered the breakfasts and meals his wife Luanne used to cook for him and Jonah. She never had a chance to prepare meals for Ava as she passed away not too long after Ava’s birth.

As Dean’s trip down memory lane continued he fondly remembered Jonah’s love of his favorite treat – candy apples – and he remembered when Luanne used to make the treat for her beloved son. His memories then switched to more somber memories of Luanne’s pregnancy with Ava and the medical issues she encountered throughout it, which included morning sickness, nausea, abdominal pain, blurry vision as well as seizures and fevers and the symptoms that accompanied them.

Through it all, she endured the pain; the doctors and superhuman leaders had no explanation for her death and helped the family with anything they needed, but as other people found out about what happened many of them questioned what actually caused her death.

“Hey dad that smells great, I’m so hungry. I’ll prepare the table,” Ava said, startling Dean and abruptly ending his trip down memory lane.

After Ava had finished setting the table she went to get Jonah on the rooftop; as she opened the door she saw Jonah standing in mid–air about ten feet off the ground, and he was practicing and perfecting his superhuman skills. As he levitated higher off the ground, he pointed his hand in Ava’s direction and began lifting her off the ground as well.

“Stop it Jonah, you’re still learning. Put me down now,” Ava demanded, but Jonah didn’t listen, he was having too much fun.

He still kept raising her higher and higher until eventually, she was right beside him. She looked at him asking him to please put her down, but Jonah still kept her under his control. He then slowly began to move them both away from the building.

As he moved them further away, Ava pleaded with him to go back. She then told him dad made an old–fashioned breakfast knowing fully well that that would do the trick and just as she had planned, it worked like a charm and Jonah then levitated them both back down to the rooftop.

As their feet hit the ground, Ava told him to never do that again. “It’s dangerous Jonah, you’re still learning these skills,” she said to him.

“I’m just happy sis, I’m learning really fast,” Jonah replied. After all, he only started getting his full arsenal of superhuman abilities a few months ago when he hit adulthood. And the fact he could levitate himself along with another person indicated his training with his dad was paying off, and his abilities were coming along quite well, faster than most superhumans, even those that hit adulthood years ago.

Upon arriving downstairs, they thanked their dad for making such an excellent breakfast and started eating. This was the first time they sat down for a full meal together for at least the past couple months; it was a nice feeling for all of them, and they enjoyed the meal and each other’s company very much. Dean then looked at the clock, and it was almost 10:00 am; he had promised a friend he would help him with clearing out a warehouse to build new living quarters for those less fortunate who were unable to make their own.

This was the new world they lived in; gone were government run countries as well as private corporations and companies looking after the people, everything was done for the people by the people; this was the reality of this new era on earth.

After the First Great War, the stock market, world currencies, and financial institutions all collapsed; almost everyone lost everything they had. All channels of communications including the internet as well as satellites were destroyed, so were railroads for light–speed trains and subways along with airports as well as large portions of major cities worldwide.

The goal of the war was to destroy the humans, and it accomplished just that as humanity was in ruins. Every day hundreds of people worldwide would take their own lives and the lives of people they loved to save them from a life of misery and despair that was now common in this new period of life on earth; this was the new normal.

A normal where the thoughts of happiness could only exist beyond the darkness of death. Did this happiness really exist? Most people didn’t believe in an afterlife, but for the few that did believe in an afterlife, it gave them a glimmer of hope for something better, a better life than what they and their loved ones had on earth. A life where they could be safe, happy and secure; things they would never again have since the betasapiens started their onslaught against the humans. An onslaught which the humans hoped would one day come to an end.

As Dean left to help his friend he gave both Jonah and Ava each a hug and told them that he would be back around 9:00 pm; he also told them that he would leave the airmobile for them in case they needed it as he was getting to the worksite with his friend. Little did they all know that his decision to leave the airmobile for them would be the difference between life and death for them both; they also didn’t know that the hug from their dad would be his last hug to either of them for a very, very long time.

  CHAPTER TEN

As he approached, the white knights bowed to him in a gesture of respect and obedience and opened the doors to the Masters Chamber; he nodded in appreciation as he entered the room and the knights closed the door behind him.

As he made his way into the room the lights automatically turned on, and the shower began to flow. In the kitchen, water began pouring into his tea cup that already had his favorite blends of tea leaves inside. This was his typical day to day routine after a long day of making decisions and choices that affected both the betasapiens and the humans.

He looked out of the window from his lavish apartment perched high above, and all that he could see was the raging ocean from horizon to horizon. From his view miles away the sea looked serene, but that was not the case; in reality, it was extremely rough waters, high waves and water swells reaching almost forty to fifty meters in height.

This was not the natural behavior of the ocean; it was caused by the installation of devices that made the water react in that manner; the purpose of it was to make it impossible for an ocean attack by the humans on the betasapien homeland of Australia. Australia, after all, could be attacked in only two ways, either by sea or by air and the World Government did everything in their power to keep their homeland and the betasapiens who lived there safe and secure. As for the protection from an aerial assault; lasers were installed at key points on the massive force field that kept the country incubated from the rest of the world.

It was a fortress unlike any other in the history of the earth; the technology protecting it was cutting edge and developed by the betasapiens with the
help of the knights.

Together they made a formidable team, the intellect of the betasapiens along with the strength of the knights; together they almost put an end to the human race. As he pondered about what lay ahead of him tonight, a voice said, “You’re home early, you should have told me and that way I would have left before you arrived.”

“I’m tired, and I have to attend an event tonight,” he sternly replied.

“What are you tired of Frank? Is it your lies? Is it your deceit? What is it?” his wife Bridget said to him.

“It’s your attitude Bridget. Trust me, I’d much rather be working, but I have to get ready for a reception for an important announcement regarding the bases and the knights,” Frank replied to her.

The bases he spoke of were the bases in Russia, Africa, and China which housed the knights of each region as well as weapons of war in the unnecessary fight against humanity.

“Is it the announcement of the starting of the Second Great War?” Bridget asked.

“Yes of course it is, you know it’s that, why do you bother asking me if you already know?” he scowled at her.

“Because I want to, I’m part of this marriage whether you like it or not. I’ve put up with enough of your nonsense for the past fifteen years and if I ask a question; no matter how stupid you think it is; I deserve…no…actually, I demand an answer,” she said to him in a condescending tone.

“Very well Bridget, yes it is about the Second Great War. Are you happy now?” Frank replied and then headed out to the balcony.

Bridget then stormed out of the apartment and headed to the elevator, and she called her personal knight to get her airmobile ready. As she entered the airmobile, she told the knight to drive and as she was being driven around Frank called her.
