When she went inside, she was pleased to see Reese and to see that he'd been looked after. His entire body shook as he greeted her with kisses all over her cheeks, nearly swiping everything off her coffee and side tables with his wildly swinging tail. The moment took away her anger for a few minutes, but as she walked around her place, putting things back in order, the frustration returned because she knew no one understood the scope of the problem out there in the Alaskan wilderness like she did. And she was certain the military not only didn't have hers nor anyone else's best interest at heart, but that they had something up their sleeve that ultimately no one would want.
Worst, and perhaps most frustrating of all, no matter if the Army had good intentions or if they likely didn't, the deputy knew that the horror show was far from over. One way or another, Marsh thought, it's going to wind up coming back to me. I'm going to have to be the one to end things.
