My stomach was in knots, churning and whirling and fluttering like mad as I ran on fumes just to get down the hall. I didn’t know what to do. I was about to see Devon, and I wasn’t sure I was ready for that yet, especially considering I hadn’t spoken to him in a few days. And, we fucking lived in the same dorm.

I hadn’t even seen him – not even a glimpse.

And call me old fashioned, but I thought after having sex with a guy, I’d at least expect to see him around, especially if you lived in the same building.

  That wasn’t the case.

But, as soon as I crossed over the threshold, he smiled at me and gave a single head nod.

  It was too late.

  He’d already seen me.

So, ready or not, there I was…

“Hey. What’s up?” he asked, as if nothing had happened at all the night before.

“Not a lot. Moving home.” I was lying. I was, quite unfortunately, not moving back home, but that didn’t stop me from talking like I was speaking matter-of-factly.

Truthfully, I wanted to make him feel like shit for leaving me there three nights ago; and not even just leaving me by myself, but leaving without saying anything at all.

“You’re doing what?” His brows were contorting, looking at me like I had three heads.

“There was a whole shit ton of drama that I’d rather not deal with. Commuting is best.” I thought it was. My parents probably would have thought so, too, had I told them the whole story. But I couldn’t do that.

They would have not only been disappointed that I was straying from academics but that I had somehow allowed myself to slip this far into the dramatics of High School 2.0.

“Will we still get to hang out?” he asked. It might have made me feel better if it sounded like genuine concern instead of just small talk, as he glanced at our fruit fly vials. I was actually surprised, in all honesty, that we’d even managed to finish project and get our flies separated after having sex – in the exact spot I was leaning over at that moment.

I groaned, and immediately felt like I was going to be sick. So sick that I needed to get some air.

“Dr. Wilson, I’ll be right back,” I gasped, just before running out of the room.

“If you’re feeling sick, just come in tomorrow and do your experiments after hours!” Dr. Wilson responded behind me, but I was already gone.

“What’s wrong?!” I heard Devon yell from behind me, hot on my tail as I busted out of the nearest double-doors, leading outside.

“I hate how you’re acting like this is nothing! That it meant nothing!” I yelled as soon as I got outside and turned to face him. I mean, did it mean nothing?

He smiled. “It was amazing!” he yelled, reaching out to grab my forearm and pulling me toward him. “Why would you think that I felt nothing about it?”

“Because you haven’t even contacted me!”

“I didn’t have your number!” I felt like it was an excuse, but there was something about the way that he was smiling, like I was off my rocker, that made me not want to completely jump down his throat. I didn’t want to seem like one of those girls – the type that slapped the label of boyfriend on him after one night. I might have been a virgin before him, but I wasn’t stupid.

I knew we weren’t in love.

I knew that it didn’t mean anything more than getting his dick wet.

  He didn’t know me.

  I didn’t know him.

  Not really.

But damn it all. I liked him. I wasn’t sure if it was because I’d slept with him or what it was exactly, but I liked him. I really, really did.

“This all isn’t what you think it is,” he said, pulling me out of my own thoughts.

“Then, what is this?” I asked, pointing from me to him, and back again. I didn’t want to label it, but I felt for the sake of my own sanity we had to. I didn’t care if he wanted to be “just friends,” but I wanted to know what he wanted.

“Look. Can we go grab some dinner or something so we can talk?” he asked, and God help me, there was something about his eyes and the way they shimmered in the fucking sunlight that made me nod like a love-struck imbecile.

  ***

The dinner was going well. Conversation was easing forward, but then it came to a streaking halt.

All because he decided to ask how I’d been over the last few days.

“It’s not like you even care. You knew Kara saw the two of us together, and you didn’t even come by and check on me. If you had, you would have realized that her little posse decided to make my life a living hell, and basically forced me out of my very expensive shoe-box of a dorm room.” I let all of the frustration from the past few days unleash onto him – some of it his fault, some of it not, but I didn’t care. I wanted it all gone and out of me.

I took a large, hefty bite out of my burger. Fuck looking appealing. I didn’t even care when I felt a large, gunky wad of sauce drip down my chin. “I mean, you live in the same building and couldn’t even check on me? That’s fucked up, Devon.”

“I don’t live in the dorm anymore.”

“That’s beside the point!” I growled as I slammed my burger down and leaned forward.

“Fucking shit, Cal,” he sighed. “What do you want from me?” He leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest.

My jaw dropped, and I couldn’t think of what to say. What did I want from him? I shook my head and said, “I guess nothing.”

He sighed again and leaned forward, his hand grabbing hold of mine before his other hand reached up and dabbed the gunk of burger sauce from my face. “I like you, Callie. I really, really do.” His words were trailing, burdened almost.

I cocked my head to the side and watched for a moment as his eyes betrayed him. They were looking at me deeply, passionately, and with care. In a way that I was sure he wasn’t used to expressing.

“I like you back, you idiot,” I sighed.

He nodded. “I want to figure out what we are; what we could be. I just don’t know how, so be patient with me, okay?”

  ***

I looked across at Devon as he drove me back to my dorm just before turning away to stare out the window. I couldn’t believe what was happening, so quickly. I was basically head over heels for the guy and just earlier, I questioned if I even meant anything to him at all.

Truth was, it was a nice dinner and a nice conversation after that whole blow-up about what the hell we were doing with each other.

I sighed for a moment. It was strange really. I had no issues liking Devon when Devon was being Devon, and not Devon Halloway, son of NFL Halloway. When he was himself, I actually really enjoyed his company.

  I enjoyed the real Devon.

He’d told me about his fraternity, how he’d just rushed and moved in, and how it was the only legacy of his dad’s that he actually felt good about. Football was great, but he felt he’d gotten this far not just by his talent, but because of who his dad was. Everyone wanted a Halloway Jr. The frat wanted him for him.

Hell, half of the brothers didn’t even like football. Or, give a shit that his dad was a legacy.

I bit my lip, realizing that I’d probably drank a few too many beers with my burger. How he was able to convince them I was 21, I had no idea. All I knew was that I had too many when I started contemplating reaching over there and taking full advantage of him.

I smirked, watching him, not really able to help the fact that I’d noticed the way he had pulled me over to him, so that I was touching his side as he drove his large, decked-out SUV.

I wriggled slightly when a tingling sensation grew between my legs, and realized my body was flushing with the heat of desire. I was ready for more.

  A lot more.

"What?" Devon asked when he noticed me staring at him.

I smiled and ran a hand down his stomach. “Concentrate on driving,” I whispered, before I even really knew what I was doing. I never believed the phrase ‘it just sort of happened in the moment
 until that moment.

I leaned over him, undoing his belt and unzipping his pants until I held his already hardening member firmly. His breath hitched as my hands completely enclosed around him, and he gripped the steering wheel tightly, his head nearly falling back.

“Shit, I’m going to wreck!” He laughed as he pulled over to the side of the road just before pulling me completely across the seat. He gripped my hips before pulling me onto his lap, his swollen appendage sinking into me. “Fuck,” he gasped, as he impaled me and set a pace. “You feel so good.”

I gripped his shoulders and leaned down to kiss him, our tongues dueling as our hips rolled at a quickened pace. I felt all air leaving me. All that was there was pleasure – breathless pleasure. I pulled away from the kiss and leaned over his shoulder just before clamping down with my teeth.

He hissed at the pain and slammed upward into me even harder.

When I leaned in for another kiss, it all seemed to get even more heated. His fingernails were digging into my thighs, pulling me into him even harder.

“Back seat,” I growled, almost breathlessly, not really believing what was coming over me all of a sudden. I needed to be able to move on top of him better. I needed more room. I wanted to fuck.

  I wanted to fuck hard.

Without any hesitance, both of us fell into the back seat, our naked bodies glistening with sweat. I was panting, already tired, but I didn’t mind. In fact, I liked it. I relished in it, in the feeling of him. So much so that I hoisted myself on top of his lap, ready for more.

He gripped my ass firmly. “I don’t think I’ve ever had sex in the back of my car,” he mused, huffing.

I laughed. “Neither have I!” I tackled him back against the seat, my mouth crashing into his forcefully.

“Damn,” he muttered, his hot hands sliding over the flesh of my torso.

I kissed him hungrily, devouring his tongue with everything that I had. “Damn is right,” I moaned into him.

The air was getting hotter, almost smothering, but I didn’t care. I was more turned on than I’d ever been in my entire life.

  All I wanted was him.

  All I wanted was this.

I felt so heated, so incredibly turned on that it was impossible to focus on anything except him. I slid my naked center down against his length and laughed devilishly at the moan that escaped from the depths of his throats. “Jesus, you sure know how to turn a guy on,” he groaned, as he ran his fingers across the back of my head.

I rolled my eyes and pushed against his shoulder as I slid down onto his hardened rod, gasping. My breathing was a mess, hitched in my throat. I was so damned turned on I hadn’t even cared about breathing… all I wanted was him.

“God, I want you! It feels so good with you inside of me.” My words were fluttering in gasping pants, but I didn’t care. I wanted him to know how much I wanted him – how much I felt like I needed him in that moment.

He said he wanted to find out what we were, and by God, so did I.

I never imagined having so much sexual chemistry with anyone before – maybe that was the virginity talking – but damn, it was so electric between us.

His breaths were just as heavy as mine. “You feel so good,” he said, gripping hold of my hips. "You're so tight.”

"That's what happens when you don't have sex." I mused in jest, right into his mouth.

“Well, damn. I don’t know if we should have sex very often,” he teased.

I blushed. “Nope, you’re getting it all the time.” I bit his lip and tugged gently. “You’re too hot to not fuck.” The way the ‘F word’ rolled off my tongue made me feel sexy. It made me feel dirty a little bit too, but not a trashy dirty. More of an empowered sort of dirty.

And, when he shuddered in enjoyment, I felt even more fueled than before.

I bounced on him faster and faster until eventually his girthy arms grabbed hold of me and tackled me to the other side of the car, pressing me firmly against the glass window. He fucked me for everything that he was worth in those last few thrusts. His pounding was deliberate – fueled. It was passionate and animalistic.

  It was fucking hard.

So hard that it took no time for me to lose control and fall off the edge completely.

“Yes! Yes!” I wailed in a squealing scream. But the pleasure didn’t stop there. His hand reached between us, his index and middle finger going straight for my engorged clit, rubbing fast, deliberate circles on it. “Oh fuck!!!” I growled, just before biting his shoulder so hard he winced and growled himself.

But the sound only made me feel even hotter as my orgasm sent me into absolute oblivion.

“Wow,” he panted, as he fell away from me, and I collapsed in the seat just beside him. For a moment, I just sort of stared – at him, outside, at him again – relishing in the fact that he was staring back. His gorgeous, hazel-green eyes glistening and peering into me.

That was until his phone started ringing.

I laughed and so did he, but his wasn’t quite as joyous as mine. His seemed like something different – a nervous laughter of sorts.

He reached over to the front, center console and answered it.

"Hey," he said. "Yeah. Yeah. I, um, stopped to get some tacos earlier.” He sat up and bit his lip. His brows furrowed with intensity as he wiped sweat away from it, and smoothed his hair nervously. "I had an upset stomach.” He started to bite his nails, clearly fidgeting, and crumbling under pressure. “Yeah, I’m on my way, Dad."

  I sat up, blushing.

“So, uh, are you okay now?” he asked, grabbing his clothes, and starting to put them on in the small confines of the backseat.

  “Yeah.”

He sighed, “Great, because my dad is going to kill me. I missed practice to take you to dinner.” He was joking, but only partially, and it was somewhere in that light-hearted statement that made me realize something that made me almost want to vomit.

I was definitely into the idiot.

“So wait, shouldn’t I have your number?” He laughed and smoothed his hair almost nervously.

I blushed. I’d been thinking the same thing. “Yeah, how do we not have each other’s numbers?” I asked, nervously.

“That’s a good question, but probably because we’ve only seen each other a handful of times.”

I laughed nervously. “You’re probably right.” I handed my phone to him. “Put your number in.”

“Text me,” he said, winking, “any time you want.”

I felt a jolt of electricity when he handed my phone back to me, and I smirked, my eyes falling back into the depths of his gorgeous, hazel orbs.

“So, you’ll come to my game tomorrow then?” His eyes were wide, almost excited-looking, and they held a glimmer that made me want to melt as soon as he gazed into my own.

I shuddered and nodded my head. “When did I say that?” I asked, my brow raised.

“You didn’t. I just think you should.”

“How can I argue with that reasoning?” I laughed. “But, sure.”

I didn’t really care about sports – at all, not even a little bit – but I supposed if I wanted brownie points, football was a good place to get them.

“Let’s get you back to your dorm…”

  Chapter Thirteen – Callie

As I walked through the doors of his fraternity, I couldn’t help but feel like I was on display. A couple of guys looked at me and made weird cooing sounds as I trekked across the living room floor toward the staircase leading to his room.

“Who are you here to see?” one of the guys asked.

  “Devon.”

“And you are?” the guy asked.

“Callie – his girlfriend.” I cringed as soon as the words came out of my mouth. Was I Kara 2.0? Had we not just had the conversation earlier that day that he wasn’t sure what we were, but wanted to find out? Had we not just established that there wasn’t a label on us? Hell, we’d just exchanged phone numbers hours before! Who the hel
l was I to say that I was his girlfriend?!

And, what if they knew I wasn’t his girlfriend?

What if they thought I was a psycho?

“Hey, Devon!” the guy’s voice yelled out, his head tilted back, pointing to the ceiling as if screaming at it. “Your girlfriend is here!” I felt something swell in the pit of my stomach. Was I really going to pretend to be his girlfriend? Was it that crazy of me to say? It seemed a lot easier than “maybe-future-girlfriend-but-current-fuck-buddy”.

I hadn’t meant for the dude to scream it out like that. I’d only said it because it was easy, not for the whole world to think he was mine. I wanted to roll into a ball and die out of fear that they’d know Devon didn’t have a girlfriend, but no one said anything, so I figured it was the fact that no one really knew him – not completely.

He was a new brother, after all. They didn’t know every aspect of his life.

When Devon didn’t answer, the guy nudged me softly with his hand. “Let’s go up. I’ll show you where his room is.”

I nodded and followed the man up the stairs. He was tall and slender, with broad shoulders and a slim waist. He looked like a swimmer if I’d ever seen one.

“Hey, Bro, your girlfriend is here!” the guy yelled out as soon as he knocked on Devon’s door.

“Your what?!” a deep, male voice growled on the other side of the door and, before I knew it, the door flung open and revealed an older, dark-haired man seething through gritted teeth. My eyes widened in fear as I watched the scene unfold like it was a movie playing out in front of me. The older man looked away from me and the guy I was standing next to, and directly to Devon.

  “Your girlfriend?!”

“No!” Devon shouted, looking from me, to his frat brother, to what I could only presume to be his dad, pointing at his brother in warning. “We’re just going out and having fun. Nothing serious!” He looked at me, almost apologetically for a split second, and then his jaw clenched and he looked at his dad, his Adam’s apple bobbing.

I didn’t bother waiting around to hear anymore. I turned on my heel and powered through the guy that had showed me up the stairs, knocking him backward before stomping down the stairs and straight through the open front door.
