  “A good excuse for what?”

“Oh, like that time you made reservations at the resort for the wrong date so you could sleep in my bed instead. Remember that?”

Kate laughed, playfully pushing Mo’s shoulder. “You know that wasn’t on purpose.”

“Do I? I mean, I know you thought I was impossibly sexy and you were looking for any way possible to get in my—”

“Alright, Math Whiz,” Kate interrupted, still laughing. “You know what happened with those reservations was an accident. And you may be the sexiest person I’ve ever met and I may be completely in love with you, but that doesn’t mean I won’t make you sleep on the sofa tonight if you keep teasing me.”

“You think we’re actually going to sleep tonight? We’ve got four kids in the house.” Mo kissed her again. “And it wasn’t an accident. It was fate. I also know I love you. So what’d you get me for our anniversary?”

“I signed us up for salsa lessons.”

“That’s perfect,” Mo said. “I can’t wait.” She reached into her pocket and pulled out a little black box. “Don’t worry, I’m not about to propose. I know you want us to take our time on that. But I saw this and I couldn’t help myself.”

Kate opened the box. Inside was a tiny gold lock on a shimmering chain. “Tell me your key fits in this lock.”

Mo touched her own necklace—she hadn’t taken it off since Amsterdam. “It fits. You don’t have to wear it if you don’t want to. I know it’s cheesy, but…”

Kate threw her arms around Mo’s neck and kissed her. “It’s perfect.”
