“Well, when your father was murdered, I ran and hid. I never stopped moving. I didn’t know where you went, but I’ve been searching hospital records in the surrounding states, knowing you’d be giving birth soon, and I hit a mark here in Vegas, and got lucky,” she shrugs. Tears fill my eyes, and I rush to her, throwing my arms around her in an embrace.

She smells of spices and herbs… just like I remember. Clenching my eyes shut, I squeeze her tighter, not realizing how much I really missed her.

“I’m so sorry Simone, I never should have let your father do what he did.” She cries into my shoulder, and it takes me aback. My mother is so strong, to see her break down it truly shows how much regret she harbors.

“Wait, you had something to do with setting her up with that psycho!” Mac pulls us apart, trying to protect me. His face contorts into anger, stepping in between us.

“As soon as I saw the kind of man Veer was, I knew I had to intervene, and I did,” she explains, her strong demeanor back in place.

I tug at Mac’s arm pulling him out from in between us. “She’s right, Mac, if it wasn’t for her, I’d never have even had Catori.” Veer would have hurt me purposely to lose the child, or even killed me. “She helped me escape.” Briefly looking at me, his brows narrow with uncertainty.

“It’s not uncommon for arranged marriages, Mac. Doesn’t make her a bad parent,” Zeek butts in from leaning against the kitchen counter, his eyes hooded. “A lot of cultures do it.”

Mac points at him, his jaw sharp and flexed. “Piss off!” Zeek rolls his eyes, looking the other way. “Right, let’s not take advice from a man with two kids and a girlfriend.”

“Do you have a place, where are you staying?” I change the subject, curious how she’s been getting around.

“Yeah, I just checked into a room here at the casino,” she informs, her hand playing with her diamond earring as she takes in the suite. She may have left my father, but she didn’t leave her money behind I see.

“So you named her Catori?” She looks back at me with an approving grin.

“Yeah, Mac came up with it.”

She gazes toward Mac, sizing him up. Surely, she can’t complain considering we worked with men just like him.

“Spirit, I like it,” she finally says, smiling at Mac.

It occurs to me mother hasn’t even seen her grandchild. A knot forms in my stomach at the sudden thought that she may not want to see her. She’s not full Indian, and that was something that mattered to my father.

“Do you want to see her?”

Mother’s toffee colored face lights up, and she nods with glossy eyes.

“Wait, are you sure Simone?” Mac’s concerned face has my chest bloom with warmth. No matter what, he’s always protecting us. Catori’s going to hate him when she’s a teenager.

“Dude, chill, I patted her down when she came in,” Zeek says in passing, and my eyes widen.

  “You patted down my mom!”

Mac grins, and Zeek shrugs me off like it’s a no brainer.

“He did, and I was impressed,” Mom points out, approving. “You can never be too safe,” she nods with a pointed finger.

Sighing, I grab her hand, and I lead her into Catori’s room. I was finally able to let her sleep in her crib just last week. I know Veer is gone, but the void in my chest I felt when I left her behind is a feeling I’ll never forget.

Entering the room, the walls are decorated with maps and worlds. A destination theme that the ol’ ladies came up with. We told them we were waiting until we moved into an actual house, but they weren’t hearing it. I love those women.

Catori’s little feet kick and twist her Paris blanket, her cooing making me smile.

  She’s awake and blubbering away.

Mother steps up to the wooden crib and looks in. She gasps, covering her mouth as her eyes fill with tears.

“Oh my goodness, she’s so beautiful,” she sobs. “Can I hold her?”

“Of course?” I wave her on.

Reaching into the crib, she holds Catori’s fingers. Their skin color nearly identical, it’s tan and glowing.

“I’m Grandma,” she whispers to Catori. I’ve never seen my mother smile so big. A hiccup of delight catches in my throat, and I press my hand to my chest to calm myself.

Mac stands in the corner like the protective father he is and watches closely.

“I had her early,” I inform. Mother looks at me with curious eyes. “ I—I can’t have any more children,” I mutter. Sympathy wrinkles her face before she gazes back to Catori.

“She’s all you need. She’s everything,” Mother approves. “She was worth every bloodshed, and bullet casing.”

“I know,” I agree, knowing I’m very lucky.

  THE END

  Epilogue

  6 Months Later

  Mac

The sun is out today, its rays blasting into the leather cut on my back. My boots press into the soft ground, causing me to shift as I watch Catori smell the tulips her and her mother picked out today. They’re white with the greenest stalks.

Catori falls on her butt, her green dress that ties behind her neck lifting with the light breeze dancing around her. Tucked under her arm is a stuffed purple dragon Gatz gave Simone when she was pregnant. Sweat trickles down my neck it’s so hot today, why won’t a breeze hit my way. Looking up at the trees, the leaves are not moving in the least, in fact, there’s not a draft of wind anywhere except for where Catori is sitting. Almost as if her daddy is speaking to her from the grave. She babbles, her fingers digging into the etched stone of her daddy’s headstone.

Pushing off the tree, I bend down to pick her up.

“Who’s ready to go home and play on their swing set?” I tickle her, and she giggles, slobber dripping down her chin from teething. Those two teeth have caused many sleepless nights.

“Tell Daddy bye-bye,” Simone encourages, waving at the grave stone. Taking Catori’s hand, I try and move her chubby little fingers into waving goodbye as we head to Simone’s SUV.

I bought it for her to get around in after an investor bought my invention for the labor button I made Simone. It ended up buying us a house outside of the chaos of Vegas too.

The guesthouse out back is where Simone’s mother stays. She comes in very handy when we need a sitter. She even asked to come to a club party next week, which surprised Simone and I both. She’s in for a real treat when my boys get going with drugs and booze.

Her mother is strict but very determined. We don’t see eye to eye on a lot of things when raising Catori, like religion, but we are when it comes to her safety.

I’m not worried though because Simone and Catori are mine, and I can get rid of the bitch of a mom real quick. I’m sure the coyotes are waiting for their next meal.

Sliding into the back seat, the leather is hot from the sun. Simone climbs behind the wheel and I look down at Catori as we drive off. Her cheeks are red from getting too hot outside, and I make a mental note to put sunblock in her diaper bag.

Sticking her foot out, she tries to stick it in her mouth, and I laugh, pulling it away.

  “That’s dirty, don’t eat that.”

She giggles, and then goes stoic.

  “Daddy.”

My face falls, and Simone slams on the brakes, rocking us to a hard stop.

  “Did she just say…?”

“Say it again for Daddy.” I tickle her big toe, and she babbles a toothy grin, kicking her body straight in her car seat with excitement. She’s such a squirmy thing, so full of life.

She looks to the window, a peace brushing over her. Catori’s beautiful brown eyes glistening with the sun as she stares intensely at the tinted glass.

“Daddy,” she babbles softly. Simone and I look at the window, curious if she’s just looking at it, or if she sees her daddy Gatz.

Grabbing her soft hand, I know for a fact her daddy will always be with her, as will I. Taking her gaze from the window, she focuses on my rough
fingers and continues to say daddy to herself.

  “Daddy. Daddy. Daddy.”

She’s done the same thing every time after we visited Gatz’s grave. She’d babble daddy to me, and to something off in the distance.

She knows who her daddies are, and for that she will always be protected by the Outlaws.

  Sneak Peek

  Sin City Book 6

  Bishop

Leaned over the bar, I stare at the textbook in front of me. It’s all fucking garbage if you ask me. I want a drink, a blunt, anything but this crap.

The club is having a party, so the music is loud, and the smoke rolling around me in a fog, but Tinker… she stands clear as daylight bent over the counter handing out beers. Her short shorts rise up her ass, and that black crop top shows the supple bottoms of her breasts.

  Fuck me.

I adjust my cock and shift on the stool.

“Hey!” Zeek stabs his finger into the binder of my textbook, and my eyes dart to his. “Titties don’t pay for school, boy!”

I roll my eyes and pick my pencil back up to work the word problems. I was taken off the streets and from a local gang and placed in the hands of the Outlaws. They treat me better, and the work here is nothing I’m not used to. I came from California to take care of my mom, I miss the waves. Out here it’s nothing but desert and cactus, dry as hell. But, this club treats me well, gives me a bed at night, and helps me take care of my mom. This is the path for me, and I can’t screw it up.

The ol’ ladies want me to get my GED, and Zeek fell into that line of shit telling me if I got it I would get my prospect rocker. I guess because I can handle a gun and deal drugs they are trying my lack of book smarts rather than street smarts for my part of the club.

Glancing at Tinker, beads of sweat form on the nape of her neck. She’s driving me nuts over here.

  “Hey Tinker!”

She looks at me, her cute as hell blonde hair falling in her blue eyes. She looks just like Tinkerbelle.

“What’s this shit supposed to mean?” Wiping her hands off on the dish towel on the counter, she sashays to me and bends over my leg to read the text. She smells like exotic flowers or some crap. All I know is it’s doing my dick in.

Throwing my hair from my eyes, I lean back and eyeball her ass. I want to grab it, caress it, shove my dick up there so goddamn bad.

  “Hey Tinker, wanna quickie?”

My eyes dart upward to some fuck who I’ve never seen before on the other side of the counter. Crusty fat fucker.

“Hey fucker, want your teeth knocked out?” I snap, rising off the stool. He gives me a side-eye before walking away confused.

“Damn it Bishop, you can’t do that shit! This is my home, and I have my duties just like you do,” she huffs and stomps away.

I scoff. Only duty she has is tutoring me so I can get my cut, and into this club.

  Then that bitch is mine.

Laughter forces me to bring my eyes from Tinker to smiling eyes of Machete.

“She’s a club whore, brother. You’re going to have to get a little more creative to lay your mark on that one.”

“I’m up for the challenge.” I jut my chin at him.

He slaps the counter, hackling like a jackal before walking away.

  Note from the author

This book was in the middle of being written during a crazy time in my life. Let me try and explain…

As I was literally writing the words of Mac calling simone Pocahontas, I got an email from a Ancestory website that I had a potential match that I was related to someone. It was something I set up a long time ago, not in the hopes of finding family but to figure out what I had in my blood. Who was I? Where did I come from? I spit in a tube, and weeks later I found out I was a Heinz 57. Just a lot of stuff running through these veins. But this email told me I had a close family member I never knew. I emailed them back, and they shared with me that I am a twelfth great granddaughter of Pocahontas, along with some other cool things. (This whole family tree thing was his hobby.) Anyway, you can image my surprise at this off the wall information, especially that I was a granddaughter of freaking pocahontis!

This story means more to me than any of them, as it shows the bounds of family. Not having common bloodlines, is something I know personally and maybe that’s why biker stories touch me more than anything else. They go to show that we pick our family, not our blood.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. I hope you enjoyed the book, and little about myself!

  Peace!
