Their Naughty Student (Office Intrigue, 6) Page 12

Maybe not. But you can’t deny you’ve always been attracted to the guy.

Yeah, there was that. From the first time I met Chris Cavanaugh, there’d been something I was attracted to. His demeanor, his good looks, that devil-may-care grin. All of it together made up the man I’d fantasized about a few times about over the years.

You should try telling him that. Maybe break the ice.

I didn’t get a chance to say anything before Cav was on his feet, moving around to pour himself another drink. He seemed antsy. Whether that was in direct correlation to me or the date he’d had, I wasn’t sure, but I intended to find out.

“What is this, Cav?” I asked, not waiting for him to return to the room.

I expected him to play coy, so I was surprised when he answered with a simple, “I have no fucking idea.”

That about summed it up, I figured. We’d been doing this dance for a long time.

My gaze trailed him as he moved toward the sofa. He’d dressed up for his date and I got the feeling Jamie had been impressed. It was rare to see Cav wearing a suit. It was a good look for him.

“It’s been building for a long time,” I admitted, knowing we had to hash this out at some point.

He sat, stared at me. “I know. For me, too.” He took a swallow of his drink. “So where does it go from here?”

I relaxed back into the chair, pretending I didn’t have a care in the world. “I want to hear about your evening.” I allowed my gaze to slide over him momentarily before slowly creeping back up to his face. “But I need you to do something for me first.”

He sipped his drink and I could see the battle brewing in his head. He wasn’t sure he was ready to give in to this, although he’d been fighting it for as long as I had. I could see the hesitance, the uncertainty. He wanted more, but like me, he didn’t quite know how this could play out.

Finally, he said, “What do you want me to do?”

  “Strip.”

When he didn’t move, I took a sip of my scotch, continued to watch him closely.

  “And if I don’t?”

“Then we can talk about sports or work or whatever the hell else is on your mind.”

“But not my date?” Cav challenged.

“I didn’t say that. If you want to share, I’ll listen. But I can always get the details from Jamie.” We both knew I was giving him an out.

Or you could just tell him what you really want. Stop beating around the bush.

I could. But where was the fun in that?

When he set his empty glass down on the end table, I couldn’t look away. And when he stood, I stopped breathing momentarily.

“I’m tired of playin’ this game, Edge.” He began unbuttoning his shirt, first the cuffs, then the rest.

When the fabric slid open, I nodded approvingly. “I am, too.”

“Then why do we keep playin’ it?”

I met his gaze, my insides burning from the lack of air. “You tell me.”

It wasn’t until he flipped the button open on his slacks and lowered the zipper that my lungs filled, and my body flooded with heat.

Chris Cavanaugh was a very attractive man. Ruggedly good-looking with his blond hair, blue eyes, and purposely stubbled jaw. His body was chiseled nicely, and I admired every single inch as he slowly discarded his shirt. My attention shifted to the scars from the bullets he’d taken years back. I remembered it like it was yesterday. I’d gotten the call and dropped everything to be at his bedside. The man had been my best friend since college and that news had damn near leveled me.

“Keep watchin’, Edge,” Cav growled softly as his hands moved to his hips.

Seconds later, they slid down his muscular legs, pooled on the floor. His black boxer briefs were the last to come off, but finally, he was standing in my living room naked while I watched him from what was now my favorite spot in this house.

“Is this what you wanted?” he taunted.

“It is.” I took a long swallow of my drink, eyed his cock as the liquor warmed my insides. “Looks like it’s what you wanted, too.”

“Not denyin’ it,” he drawled, a little breathier than before.

I admired his cock briefly before returning my eyes to his face. “Now, sit.”

He lowered himself back to the sofa, his attention riveted on me.

“I want you to stroke yourself while you give me the details of your date,” I explained.

  “And then?”

“And then I’ll watch,” I said with a grin. Cav was eager, I could see it in his face.

“I won’t be able to hold back,” he said softly. “With you watchin’ me, I will come.”

My eyebrows lifted and dropped. “Feel free. But not until you’ve finished with the story.”

Those light blue eyes flashed with heat. “I sent Jamie flowers this afternoon, attached a card tellin’ her I had some instructions should she choose to go that route.”

  Interesting. “Did she?”

Cav nodded. “I told her what I wanted her to wear, ensurin’ she knew she was to forego panties for the evenin’.”

My dick twitched, hardening more by the second as Cav explained the rest of their evening, including their dinner conversation. I allowed my gaze to rake over him, pausing every so often to watch as he leisurely stroked his thick, hard cock.

“I forgot to mention that Jamie and I discussed you tonight.” He looked almost smug as he relayed the news.

“Is that so?” I tipped my glass to my lips, waiting for him to continue.

“She asked if you and I had been together before. I told her no.” His hand fisted tightly around his dick. “She seemed somewhat disappointed, so I pushed the issue. I informed her that I’d thought about it a time or two.”

My cock throbbed, the idea making it impossible to feign indifference to this conversation. “Have you?”

His eyes locked with mine. “Many times.”

“Tell me,” I said firmly. “In your fantasies, is it my cock that’s usually in your ass? Or the other way around?”

He smirked. “Depends on my mood.”

I inhaled, exhaled, fought back the overwhelming desire that flooded my veins. “And what did Jamie say?”

He smiled, obviously noticing my immediate topic change. “She thanked me for my honesty.” Cav stroked himself firmly, his eyes partially closing as he rasped.

  “That’s all she said?”

He gave a curt nod. “When I walked her to her door, I asked her if it bothered her that I wanted you.”

“Why’d you tell her?” I ignored my own dick, pressing insistently against my pants.

“Because she deserves to know.” A soft moan followed.

“You want me to dominate you?”

  “No.”

I understood what he was saying. He wanted me, but not the Dom.

His big hand began stroking his cock faster, his eyes locked on mine like a lifeline. I held his stare, unable to look away.

“She said it didn’t bother her.” A frustrated groan escaped him. “So I asked her how it made her feel.”

My cock was throbbing incessantly, confined behind my slacks, where it would stay until he left. Although I would refrain while he was here, I knew I was going to have some great material to get myself off to before I fell asleep.

“What did she say?” I asked, my gaze slipping to where his hand wrapped around his cock.

“She said it made her hot. Fuck,” he groaned, his fist tightening on his dick.

“How does it make you feel?” I asked. “To know she likes the idea?”

  He inhaled sharply. “Fuckin’ hot.”

“Do you like that I’m watching you jack off?”

  Cav nodded.

“Do you wonder what it would feel like to have your dick in my mouth?”

He growled low in his throat and I knew he was close. “I think about it endlessly.”

“Do you wonder what it would feel like to have your dick in my mouth while Ja
mie watches?”

He inhaled sharply, exhaled just as fast. Over and over as his fist raced over his dick.

“Come for me, Cav. I want to see you come.”

“Son of a bitch.” Cav came hard and fast, his breaths sawing in and out of his lungs as he did.

I was frozen in place, my cock so fucking hard it hurt. But I didn’t move. Hell, I couldn’t.

It was in that moment that I knew something had shifted between us and it was only going to get better from here.

  The question was: when?

CAV: I’D LIKE TO TAKE YOU OUT TONIGHT.

That was the text message I was staring at as I sat in class, listening to my professor drone on and on about … well, to be fair, I had no idea. I’d been zoned out for most of the class, my mind preoccupied with thoughts of two sinfully delicious Doms who had somehow taken up residence in my brain.

Since my MacBook was tied to the same account as my phone, the text had flashed across the screen, mesmerizing me. Unable to resist, I hit reply.

  Me: I’d like that, too.

Cav: When and where? You get to pick tonight.

A stupid grin split my face.

“What are you smiling about?” Jonah whispered, leaning toward me.

I toggled back to the screen with my notes as I shook my head, my eyes shooting back to the teacher down in front of the class. Last thing I needed was to be called out for disrupting. Professor Sylvia Mills did not take kindly to interruptions and I couldn’t say I blamed her.

Thankfully, there was only a few minutes left in class, so Jonah wouldn’t have to wait long. I knew him. He would want details.

While I stared blankly at my computer screen, I couldn’t help but think about Edge. We hadn’t talked since the night at the club. I still didn’t know what to think about what had happened when I said good night to him. He had looked at me so deeply, I thought for minute he could see into my soul. Then he had walked away so callously, as though I meant nothing to him. I couldn’t help but think he’d written me off after that. Otherwise, wouldn’t he have called or texted?

Then again, I hadn’t reached out to him, either. I had his contact information, so it would be easy to do. Sadly, I didn’t know what I would even say. Since I was having breakfast with my brother tomorrow, I was hoping Zeke would fill me in, give me something to go on.

When class finally dismissed a short time later, I placed my laptop in my messenger bag and pulled out my phone. Jonah was on me instantly.

“Okay, give it up, Lautner. Was it him?”

Since I’d already given him a rundown of my date with Cav—although I hadn’t actually used Cav’s name—he knew I was smiling because of a man. However, he had automatically assumed it was Edge since he had been the topic of our previous discussion. Tiffany had followed through with her plans, ganging up on me with Jonah to get as many details as she could about the club.

“Are you going out again?” he asked as we walked down the hall.

  “It looks that way.”

  He squealed, making me laugh.

“What?” he asked when I shot him a look. “I’m single, remember? Which means I get to live vicariously through you. And if you’re going out with a hot Dom, so am I. Where’s he taking you?”

I shrugged. “He said it was my choice.”

Jonah clapped his hands giddily. “Oooh. So many choices.” His hazel gaze locked on my face. “Where’re you going?”

“I’m not sure yet.” But I did have an idea. For whatever reason, I wanted Cav to be the first to know about it, so I played it off with Jonah.

“Damn. I’ve got to get to class,” he said on a huff before pulling me in for a hug. “You better not hold out on me tomorrow. I expect all the deets.”

“Of course.” I chuckled as we pulled apart.

With that, Jonah hurried off and I headed for the parking lot, texting Cav as I went.

Me: You up for something adventurous?

Cav: Mmm. I like where your mind’s headed.

  Me: Rock climbing?

Cav: You’re on. Pick you up at seven?

  Me: I’ll be ready.

I was ready by seven o’clock when Cav appeared at my door wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

“You know it’s cold outside, right?” I teased as I pulled on my jacket over my yoga outfit. I’d opted for a sports bra and leggings, figuring I might as well take this opportunity to tease the man a little. After all, just seeing him was a tease for me.

His heated gaze raked over my bare midriff, remaining there until I hid it beneath my jacket.

Those devastating baby blues shot up to my face and he grinned. “I’ve got a jacket in the truck if I need it.”

“Since I have every intention of getting you all sweaty, you might be all right,” I joked as I grabbed my keys and my phone, tucking them into my pocket.

  “Sweaty, huh?”

  “Yes, sir.”

His head jerked over to my face, his eyes imploring me. “What?”

He shook his head, then opened the door.

It wasn’t until we were walking to his truck that I realized what I’d said. I had called him sir, and since that was an honorific often used in BDSM, he’d taken it in a different way than I’d meant it. A trickle of heat skittered into my bloodstream. If I could make him look at me like that again, perhaps I would be calling him Sir in the future.

A few minutes later, we were in his truck and I was giving him directions to the indoor rock-climbing facility I’d gone to on a few occasions.

“You good at this?” he asked as he steered into the parking lot.

“I wouldn’t say I’m good.” I laughed, completely relaxed in his company. “But I can hold my own.”

  “What’s your time?”

  I frowned. “My what?”

“Your time. You know, how long it takes you to scale the wall.”

“Which wall?” I asked, trying to stall.

He cut his gaze to me briefly. “Intermediate.”

I waved him off. “Oh, you know, I don’t really pay attention to that.”

Cav’s laugh had my insides warming significantly.

“Right.” He grinned widely. “But you can hold your own.”

  “Yes,” I insisted.

Another raspy chuckled sounded. “We’ll see about that.”

  Yeah. We would.

I had called ahead to ensure we would be able to get in. Turned out Thursdays were a relatively busy night, so it was a good thing I had. After a quick rundown of safety tips from the assistant, we were harnessed and ready to go.

For the next half hour, we scaled the rock wall, talking as we did. Although it appeared he wasn’t exerting any energy, I felt every muscle in my body tightening. Since I did go to yoga routinely, it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been, but it certainly wasn’t easy. I’d only been here twice. Once for Tiffany’s twenty-second birthday and then again when Jonah had needed something to take his mind off the breakup with his last boyfriend. That had been eight months ago. It was safe to say, I was out of practice.

“It’s always good to get a warm-up in,” he said casually.

I glanced over, noticed the way his eyes glittered with mischief. He was on to me. Since it hadn’t been a race, I knew Cav was allowing me to make it to the top at my own pace.

Because he was sweet like that.

It wasn’t until we were back on firm ground that he turned to me. “One more time?”

I glanced around, noticed there was no one waiting. “Sure.” Hopefully my muscles would hold out.

“Want to make it interesting?” Cav asked as he got a good hold on an extension.

My attention stuttered on the bulge of his bicep, the way his shoulder muscles bunched. I remembered how he’d looked at the club. I had memorized all the sleek muscles in his upper body and I suddenly had the urge to run my tongue over them. Slowly. And more than once.

“Cupcake?”

“Uh…” I jerked my gaze back to his. “Yeah. Sure. What’d you have in mind?”

He peered up toward the ceiling. “If I get up there first”—his eyes locked on mine—“you get to treat me to dessert. My choice.”

  “Your choice?”

  “Yep.”

  “And when I win?”

He grinned, a sexy smirk that made my insides quiver. “I get to treat you to dessert.” His voice lowered seductively. “My choice.”

I laughed, more to cover up the tremor of awareness that raced down my spine. This man was dangerous.

“You’re on,” I said when I could speak.

  He winked.

  Then we were off.

For the record, I didn’t stand a chance. The man scaled that wall as though he’d been born to do it. I hadn’t even made it halfway up when he was ringing the bell. So much for chivalry.

Not that I minded. As far as I was concerned, it was a win-win for me. I was out on a date with him and the night wasn’t over yet.

In fact, I got the feeling it was just beginning.

  CAV

“I’M STARTIN’ TO WONDER IF YOU LET me win,” I teased as I linked my fingers with Jamie’s and stepped out into the relatively cool evening.

Her laugh was so sexy. “Seriously? I didn’t make it halfway up.”

“I know.” I opened the passenger-side door. “I thought for sure you’d be a challenge.”

Jamie leaned in close, her breath fanning my lips in a daring move I honestly didn’t expect from her. “Believe me. I am.”

When she pulled back, I chuckled. “I’ve figured that out already, cupcake.”

The night had been incredible already. Unlike our first date, there was no awkward silence or uncertain glances. We’d gotten that out of the way and tonight was all about enjoying our time together. When she’d mentioned rock climbing, I’d been pumped. Although she’d tried to play herself up as experienced, I’d known the instant we stepped inside that it was all an act.

I waited while she got settled in the truck, then closed the door and joined her on the other side.
