Dating A Metro Man

“A nod won’t get the job done, I’m afraid. You need to say I do, miss,” the minister said. “The assembly must hear your agreement.”
Talia straightened and shook off the laughter. She took a deep breath. “I do. I absolutely do.”
Talia smiled at her husband, and Allen smiled at his wife. Then he leaned forward and kissed her, wanting to see how it felt to have a legal right to do it. It was just as good as he imagined.
“Hey,” Mason said, smacking Allen on the leg. “You said the kissing part came after the rings. Look, they are still in my hand.” Mason held the rings up to prove it.
The audience of onlookers dissolved into laughter again.
Allen pulled away from Talia and sighed. “Sorry, Mason. You’re right. I—I got carried away.”
“That’s okay,” Mason said wisely. “It happens to us men all the time.”
More laughter from everyone had Mason sighing again.
Talia had her bouquet in front of her face now and one hand on her stomach. Mine, Allen thought, watching her fight for control. Playmate. Great mother. Friend.
He was the luckiest man in the world.
“Hurry,” Allen ordered, turning to the minister. “Otherwise, we’re going to be here all day trying to get this mission accomplished.”
The minister laughed through the rest of the ceremony, but finally did manage to pronounce them man and wife.
When Allen and Talia kissed at the end, the whole church broke out in applause.

About the Author
Donna McDonald has been a writer all her life and managed to complete her first novel in August of 2010. Her idea of success is to be on an airplane and see a fellow passenger reading one of her stories. If the person is laughing or smiling, she will consider it a bonus.
She lives in Lexington, Kentucky with her fiancée, Bruce.
Her work history covers everything from housekeeper to business owner to college English instructor. It also includes an eighteen year stint as a technical writer, publications planner, and information architect in the corporate world. Her current career goal is to be a prolific, multi-published author for the rest of her life and write stories readers will love to read. She thinks a little travel and adventure would be nice, too.
