Breaking Free tackles controversial issues, but there is also this connection to my beautiful grandfather.
Before my Grandfather succumbed to Alzheimer’s, I sent him a copy of Breaking Free to read. He was so proud and excited to read the story and to see my name on the cover.

Alicia McCalla is a native of Detroit, Michigan who currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. She works as a school librarian and enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
