Without Fear

Macy had run out of the café, slipping and sliding on the slick sidewalk. Before Logan could blink, Echo had charged across the icy streets.
To his horrified gaze, his attack dog had headed straight for Macy.
“Echo!” Logan remembered screaming, but the dog had ignored the command and kept on going.
To his utter amazement, Echo reached Macy just as the slender man slipped on the ice. Echo steadied Macy with his big body and the man’s slim fingers had caressed Echo’s fur.
“You’re such a good boy,” Macy’s sexy, smoky voice had crooned to Echo.
Logan was so gobsmacked that he couldn’t speak at the time, but that vision of Macy crooning to Echo had stayed with him to this very day.
It wasn’t long after that Logan found himself using any excuse to return to Crumpet.
“I missed you,” Macy murmured to the dog.
Echo wasn’t a licker by nature, but he always managed to get in a few kisses to Macy. The young man giggled and pulled away. Standing, Macy wiped a hand at his cheek and smoothed his fingers over the dog’s large head.
“Macy, this is Ryder, Felix, and Hayden.” He pointed to each one of the men and continued, “Guys, this is Macy Finch, and he’s got a problem that we might be able to help him with.” He left off the details. If Macy wanted to share with his team about being FBI, then he could.
“So, here’s the deal,” Macy said. Walking over, he took a seat on the table. Not in a chair, but on top of the table. The rest of his team plopped down on the bed and various chairs and gave the slender man their full attention.
“I’m FBI. I’ve sent a text to the Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge, who should be calling me back. It’s his call if you get involved or not.”
Logan swallowed back his automatic protest.
“Until I hear from him, I’m sort of on my own. That’s where I could use your help. You can be my eyes and ears in this town.” Macy reached behind him and plucked the Glock from his pants and laid it on the table.
Logan almost laughed at the comical expressions on the faces of his men, some with shock and disbelief, and a few with amusement.
“I love him!” Hayden laughed and sauntered forward to hold out his hand.
Macy’s eyes widened and he took Hayden’s outstretched hand and shook it. “You do?”
Hayden grinned. “Yup. The boss has met his match!”
“All right, you nub. Knock it off,” Logan growled, heat racing up the back of his neck.
Macy gave him an impish smile a mile wide. “I like him!” Macy pointed at Hayden.
The rest of the men chuckled.
“Leave it to you to pick an FBI agent to date,” Felix chortled.
A statement like that should have brought some degree of protest from Macy, but it didn’t. Perhaps, he was making progress after all when Macy didn’t correct Jaxon about them dating.
“Well, to his credit, he didn’t know I was an agent until yesterday,” Macy returned with an impish smile.
“Really? Well, that’s new. Most people don’t pull one over on the boss,” Felix added.
Macy preened and laughed at him and Logan took it in stride.
“Hey! I knew you were something, I just thought… I don’t know. A secret agent or something.” He groaned and wanted to swallow back the words the minute they were spoken, but it was too late. His men howled with laughter.
“Just call me double-o-seven, baby,” Macy said, his voice full of promise and innuendoes.
Logan groaned out loud, much to the further amusement of his men.
When the laughter died down, he flipped them off.
Which started the laughter all over again.
Macy
“All right, quiet down.”
He so wanted to join in the laughter, but didn’t want to drag the teasing of Logan on too long. He wanted Logan interested, not embarrassed.
“I need someone to look in on Bailey’s Café. I need another person to check on my apartment, and I’ll check in on Justin’s house.”
Logan opened his mouth and Macy narrowed his eyes at the man, just daring him to argue. The split up was a good idea. They could cover more ground that way.
The “boss”, as the team called him, thought better of arguing and closed his mouth. If it took more than a nudge to get Logan to stop hovering over him, then he’d use a hammer. There was overprotective, and then there was being ridiculous. He didn’t want Logan on the ridiculous side, and in order to stop that, he’d remind the man. He couldn’t say that it didn’t bother him, though, because it undermined his position when Logan did it in front of others. However, Logan’s response relieved some of his irritation.
“Sounds good,” Logan said with a nod. “Ryder and Felix, take the café. Jaxon and Hayden, the apartment. And Macy and I will check out Elijah and Justin’s place.”
Felix slid from the bed and unzipped a duffle bag on the floor and took out several two-way radios.
“Channel three,” Felix said, handing each person one. Macy took his and double checked the radio was on the correct channel.
Every man in the room pulled out a variety of guns and ammo. It didn’t miss his notice that Logan had acquired some very dangerous men. They moved in sync, much like the FBI teams he’d worked with. It had been a few years since he’d worked with a team like Logan’s and he might be rusty, but that was only because he’d been undercover.
He kept his eyes on Logan, but tried not to let the man know that the stiffness in Logan’s movements had him worried. Logan moved his left arm like it was in constant pain. While his fever had broken that morning, he’d yet to check the man’s temperature this afternoon.
When Logan lifted a gun and winced, he’d had enough.
“Can I see you for a minute?” He aimed a look that meant business at Logan before he stood and marched to the bathroom with his hand on the door.
Logan stood frozen for a moment before he followed.
Macy shut the door and turned the lock and put down the toilet seat lid.
“Sit.” He pointed at the lid.
Logan slowly sat, gazing at him with a puzzled expression. He touched Logan’s forehead with the back of his fingers. The man’s cheeks were flushed and he felt feverish.
Macy reached out and unbuttoned the front of Logan’s shirt.
“Um… I don’t think now is the time?” Logan weakly joked.
He pressed his lips together.
“Give me a break.” Rolling his eyes, he eased the shirt off of Logan’s shoulder and down his arm before placing his palm over the gauze. The heat was rising beneath the gauzy white dressing.
Catching Logan’s gaze, he shook his head and slowly peeled back the bandage.
Logan hissed, but didn’t pull away.
Fear gripped him at seeing the angry, red, oozing wound.
“Who’s the medic out there?”
“That would be Felix, he’s a parttime EMT,” Logan admitted.
Macy flipped the lock and yanked open the door.
“Felix? Grab your kit,” he called without even putting his head out the door.
A few seconds later, Felix was there with the medic bag Macy had noticed sitting near the table.
“Oh yeah, that’s not good.” Felix stepped into the large bathroom, taking a look at the wound.
Macy stepped back, but Logan caught his hand. “Don’t leave.”
He sucked in a breath ready to blast Logan for ordering him around, when he caught the expression of worry in those soft green eyes.
“I’m not going anywhere at the moment.” He gave the only promise he could right then and after a few more seconds, Logan released his hand.
Hurrying into the other room, he found Jaxon.
“He okay?”
“It got infected.” He threw up his hands.
“That’s nothing new,” Hayden said from his spot at the table.
“He doesn’t take care of himself very well,” Jaxon added when he gave t
hem a puzzled look.
“What now?” Hayden asked.
“I’m starving. We might as well eat,” he replied after a moment. He’d try and tempt Logan into eating something.
“I’ll order,” Ryder offered. It was the first time the bodyguard had said anything.
“Pepperoni!” Felix called from inside the bathroom.
“Sausage!” Hayden yelled. “Oh, and mushrooms and olives.”
“Can you get half veggie?” he asked and laughed when the room turned on him with gasps of outrage.
“What?” He threw up his hands. “At least I didn’t order anchovies.”
“Or pineapple,” Hayden agreed.
“Hey,” Jaxon frowned, “I like pineapple.”
Macy wasn’t sure how Ryder did it, but he ignored them all and ordered five large pizzas. The men in the room were large and ate up the space. He wasn’t sure if five large pizzas were enough, but Ryder seemed to think so.
“No, not delivery. I’ll pick it up.” Ryder told the pizza place and left with Hayden to get the food.
Felix came back into the main room with Logan. Striding to the mini bar, Felix lifted a water bottle and held it out. “Take two of the antibiotics now, and then one every eight hours or three times a day.”
“Thanks,” Logan said and tossed back the pills.
Macy sat on the edge of the bed and patted the spot next to him.
Logan stepped closer to sit down, but Echo beat him to it. The massive dog leaped up on the bed and curled next to Macy.
“Oh, no way,” Logan huffed on a laugh and snapped his fingers.
Echo eyed his master as if deciding whether or not to push his luck. After a second, the dog jumped off the bed.
“Come here, boy. I’ll take you out for a quick run.” Jaxon laughed and snapped a leash on Echo.
Macy smiled up at Logan when the bed dipped. “Feeling better?”
“Not yet, it’s going to take a while, and I’m hungry.”
“We have time, and Ryder’s getting pizza,” he assured Logan and drew him farther onto the comforter. If he could get the man to relax for only a moment, it would do him a world of good.
After a moment’s hesitation, Logan stretched out beside him and closed his eyes.
He glanced across the room and found Felix.
“Can you have them check on things?”
“Will do.” Felix giving him a thumbs up before he left the room, leaving them alone.
Knowing that Logan’s team would handle checking his place, Justin’s house, and Bailey’s Café made him feel better and he gave a small sigh.
Shifting closer to Logan, he closed his eyes.
Logan
When he opened his eyes, it was dark.
A body moved next to him and he glanced down to find Macy curled up against him, his dark head pillowed on his good shoulder.
The room was empty save for Echo, who lifted his big head from where he was sprawled in front of the hotel room’s door.
Macy felt him move and came instantly awake and alert, which made him think the man hadn’t been sleeping at all.
“What time is it?”
“About ten o’clock,” Macy whispered. “Are you hungry? We saved you some pizza.” Not waiting for his answer, Macy slipped from the bed and returned with half of a meat lover’s pizza in tow.
Logan lifted a piece and took a huge bite. He barely swallowed it down before he took another. Eating several pieces, he washed it down with water and eyed the pills Macy handed him.
“No pain pills.” He set aside the white, chalky-colored pill.
“Okay, just the antibiotic.”
He took the pill and then capped the water. “Where’s the team?”
“Out checking on the town.”
That was when he noticed the younger man was dressed in all black. And every stitch of makeup had been removed. Macy looked different, still smoking hot, but different. Logan liked it. Oh, he loved when Macy wore makeup, but he loved this look just as much.
He could see the FBI agent in the man before him.
“I held you up.”
“No, I told you I’d wait for you. If I didn’t want to wait, then I would have left.”
He had no doubt of that. He wiped his hands on the wet paper towel Macy handed him.
With a start of surprise, he plopped onto his back when Macy climbed over him and straddled his hips.
“Um…”
Macy shoved the empty box onto the floor and lowered his mouth to touch his. Logan parted his lips and stroked the invading tongue to keep it inside of him longer. The kiss grew hungry until he gasped and pulled his mouth away.
“What about the men?” he asked huskily.
“I’ll catch up,” Macy croaked. “Are you up for this?”
“Are you kidding me?” Logan scowled, nothing was keeping him from Macy, not even the heat running through his body. “Condoms?”
“Taken care of.”
Macy slapped a hand on the nightstand before tossing lube and condoms on the bedspread.
He wasn’t even going to ask how Macy had gotten those. If they came from his team, there’d be no living it down. But hell, a guy had needs, and he was grateful no matter where or how Macy had gotten the goods.
“We’ll go slow.”
“Slow?” He scowled and Macy chuckled softly.
He wanted to argue, but gentle hands stroked away his clothing with quick, efficient movements and he found himself naked with Macy slipping out of his own clothes.
Reclining on the bed, Logan forgot any protest he had and stroked his hardening cock as Macy’s body was bared to him. Sweet Jesus, Macy wore tiny, baby-blue briefs beneath the badass black attire. And if it was the last thing he did on earth, he was taking Macy underwear shopping when this was all over.
Macy smiled and fingered the lace at the top of the briefs before slipping them down his trim hips and off his long, lean legs. Macy’s cut cock bounced out.
Logan held out a condom and then grabbed the lube.
With narrowed eyes, Macy crawled up and onto the bed. Logan dropped his hands to his sides and stared up into blue eyes.
“Me first,” Macy announced.
Logan was fine with that. He’d wanted this man inside of him since he’d first laid eyes on him. It wasn’t a hardship at all.
His eyes widened and he groaned when those slender fingers rolled the condom down his own dick.
“I thought…” he hissed when Macy grabbed the lube and grasped him firmly to slick up his covered cock.
“You think too much,” Macy whispered, and then straddled his lap.
Logan had other ideas, though, he powerlifted Macy and turned to place the man’s back on the bed. Macy gasped, hands clutching at him. Logan kissed those parted lips, sucking at the bottom one before delving in to tangle with Macy’s tongue. He laced both hands with Macy’s fingers and drew the man’s hands up next to his head and held them flat to the bed.
Pulling his mouth from those tasty lips, he roamed down over one nipple and sucked, swirling the hard nub before giving attention to the other. The moans and sounds coming from Macy sent his own hips grinding into the man’s side. He moved his mouth downward and swallowed Macy’s leaking cock to the hilt.
Macy’s arms fought him, but Logan held on tightly, taking the cock in until the head nudged the back of his throat.
“Oh my god, Logan!”
Only when Macy was writhing on the bed and begging did he pop his mouth off and work his way back up the sleek body.
Releasing Macy’s hands, Logan wrapped those long, lean legs over his arms and cupped the man’s ass. He reached down and placed his dick at Macy’s entrance and pressed forward, watching his expressive face for any signs of hesitation. When he found none, he pressed farther.
Macy’s hands grasped at the top of his shoulders and tugged him down. Logan went and took that waiting mouth just as he slipped inside Macy to the hilt.
“Nnnnh,” he gr
unted and tore his mouth away from Macy’s to suck in a breath and stave off his release.
Macy didn’t seem to notice; he bucked wildly beneath him. So much so that Logan had to clutch those wiggling hips, grit his teeth, and piston into his tight channel.
“Oh, oh, oh, yes!” Macy shouted, arms flying high above his head.
Macy’s cock bounced between them, slick and wet. The sight sent him over the cliff. His rhythm grew jerky and halting. When his orgasm raced up and over him, he slammed in to the hilt just as Macy flew apart in his arms. Reaching down between them, Macy grabbed his own dick and furiously yanked and pulled until come spilled from the tip and pulsed on his stomach.
“Macy, Macy.” He said the man’s name like a litany and sucked in air as if he could take Macy deep inside of him and keep him safely locked away and protected.
Logan bent forward and shuddered with several more jerking gasps until he was spent. His lungs burned with trying to catch his breath and his arms gave out, sending him sprawling down.
Into Macy’s waiting arms.
Macy
A slight buzz from his cell phone pulled him awake.
Call me.
It was a text from Stanton.
He eased from Logan’s side and dressed quickly in the dark. Tucking his Glock in the back of his pants, he shoved an extra clip into his jacket pocket.
It was a chore getting Echo away from in front of the door, but he did it by sliding the dog on the slick hotel floor.
“Shhhh.” He placed a finger to his lips when Echo started whining. “Some guard dog you turned out to be,” he snickered.
A sound from the bed drew his gaze and he froze. A light snore reached his ears and he gave a quiet sigh of relief.
He’d felt the heat coming from Logan’s body again. While the man liked to think he was invincible, Logan was still fighting an infection.
Quietly shutting the hotel door, he headed down the hallway to the stairwell before he made his call.
“Hey, it’s me.”
“Macy,” Stanton sighed.
“What is it?” His heart pounded.
“Your boss called me. He says sources have confirmed that there’s a good chance Tony has Frank.”
