Make it Rain (Afterlife Book 10)
Page 12
Afterlife was intact. Alec didn't know whether to loathe Akain or appreciate him healing everyone.
A few feet away, the three detectives and Peter shared stories, bragging about each demon they'd vanquished. The fey checked on each other and made sure each was okay. It was amazing no lives had been lost at the end of the day. Everyone returned into the forest and shared news of their victory with James and the fey who stayed behind.
After all the pleasantries were exchanged, Alec and the rest of Afterlife, the detectives and Peter stood at the entrance of the forest. They took one last look around to where some of the fey were waving, and then stepped through to the outside world.
The skies had cleared considerably as the full moon shone bright upon the three trees hiding the forest of the fey. In the distance, they could see the lights of the city, the city that had survived a storm for the ages.
