Mystro drifted off in her head. She was already on trial for both murders and did not feel like being chastised. Although she only took Church’s life and not Grover’s (the nigga), when she heard the sirens coming the night of the murders, she made Native take Baby Dom out of the apartment. She had to argue them both down before they finally left, because they were not trying to leave her behind.

Mystro’s theory was simple. She killed Church in cold blood, and it made more sense for her to take the wrap of shooting the nigga too. After all, she did walk into her own apartment and found her girlfriend fucking another nigga. She figured instead of getting Baby Dom and Native involved any further in her own mess, she stood a better chance at taking the full brunt of the killings.

She felt Baby Dom already had a tough enough life and did not want her to waste the rest of it by being thrown into jail. Native finally understood Mystro’s point and right before the law burst into Mystro’s apartment, she snatched Baby Dom out of there. Now, it was her day in court to answer for that decision.

She felt even if she was found guilty, she might not get that much time. Her lawyer made great points during the trial of how Mystro went temporarily insane by walking into that scene. Then he argued that after the initial stabbing, she had to defend herself against Grover’s attack. He even brought up how Grover degraded Mystro by ejaculating all over her face while he held her down. She thought surely those points would play highly in her favor somehow.

As the judge continued on his pulpit grandstand, Mystro looked around the courtroom. She saw the people she loved the most in the world sitting on her side, showing their love and support. Her cheerleading squad included Native and her mother, Margaret, Baby Dom, Brisa and Breezy. The saddest part about the outcome of this was that she might not have a chance to pursue a relationship with Breezy. There was no way she could ask her to wait for her if she was sentenced to jail, it wouldn’t be fair. Besides, what if she never got out? She could not bring herself to put Breezy through that.

‘Maybe jail won’t be so bad. I mean, I am gay, and I could prolly have any bitch in there I want. Shit, I can just go in, get on my prison throne and have ‘em eating out my hands,’ Mystro thought. She looked at her supporters one last time before turning back around fully to face Reverend Deacon Judge Tredall and her verdict. But when she glanced over all of their faces, she noticed an awkward look in Baby Dom’s eyes. She appeared to be staring off into another world, although she was looking directly at her.

The look concerned Mystro, but she needed to give the judge her full attention again. She shot Native an all knowing look and motioned her head towards Baby Dom.

Native picked up on her signal and looked at her.

“Baby Dom, you ‘aight,” Native whispered around her mother.

Baby Dom did not answer Native. She sat in silence and continued to rock back and forth while a single tear escaped each of her eyes.

“I’m sorry I had to preach to you, but no matter what the outcome of this trial is, I don’t want it to be too late for you to change. Now, I will have the foreman read the verdict,” Judge Tredall said as he turned to face the jury. “Madam Forman, can you please stand and read the verdict,” he instructed. The middle aged black woman stood and opened the paper to announce Mystro’s fate.

When out of the back of the courtroom, Baby Dom stood up and shouted, “You can’t send her to jail for my crime. I killed the nigga, she didn’t!”
