“If you shut the hell up and relax you would soon find that out.” She flipped through the pictures that was taken and there was Amare and the girl I knew was Pitt’s side piece.

“Seems to me they’re a thing now. You sure you can trust her upstairs? She can only be with you because she knows her man got another woman.”

“I can trust Yvette. If I couldn’t she wouldn't be here right now. If she proves otherwise I have no issue getting rid of her,” I added.

“Why not get rid of Pitt and Amare? One bullet to the head and you take over and leave me the hell alone.”

I smiled at her. Just like I once enjoyed the money Pitt paid me, I knew she enjoyed the money I paid her. “You’re not going nowhere. Once I take over I need someone on the inside to make sure shit doesn’t go wrong. As far as Pitt it’s a done deal. I can easily get rid of him; I’m just waiting on Yvette to set this meeting in motion. As far as Amare, I owe them niggas,” Rubbing the place where I had a lump because his friend punching me I thought about the slow revenge I planned on getting.

“Nah… I can’t just kill them and take over. I need time to get close to everyone and learn their moves. It’s a method to his madness and if I’m going to succeed I need to know the blueprint.”

“In order to do that you need to get close to someone that’s close to him.”

A smile spread across my face. “Such as his sister.”

“Of course it gotta be a woman.” She rolled her eyes.

  “Jealous?”

“Not at all. I think it would be beneficial to connect to someone that’s a part of the operation. What can his sister do for you besides give you pussy?”

“Watch and learn. Just make sure you’re available when I need you. Pitt is the first on my list to go.” I stood to my feet. “Now unless you want to join, I got some pussy upstairs waiting for me.”

Officer Cloak got up from her seat smacking her lips heading towards the door. Despite the fact that she was shaped like a board, I knew she had some good shit between her legs. If I was going to work this hard to snatch two drug organizations, I might as well have fun doing it too.

  Amena

“Jesus, thank you, thank you, thank you for showing up. You know how big this deal is for my parents. My mother would’ve caught an entire panic attack if you didn’t show.”

“I’m here,” I said unenthusiastically. “But don’t let this shit get to ya head. I’m only here because I committed to this a long time ago.”

Unlike Jake, Mrs. Harold was a sweetheart. She had a mild case of OCD and wanted everything she planned from top to bottom to go exactly the way she planned.

They had some big business deal with dinner that they were closing up with another firm to merge. The corporate world was big on dinner and affairs so they went all out for this. From food and decorations down to the clothes we had on. I currently was wearing a custom made champagne v cut dress from Mrs. Harold seamstress. It fit my body like a glove with a slit that prevented me from wearing any underwater. Had I been in a good mood I would’ve been feeling myself, but for his mother's sake I just wanted dinner to fly by so I can get back in my bed and watch TV.

“We can discuss our relationship later. For now, let's enjoy dinner,” he said snaking his arm around my waist and pulling me close to him where he pressed a kiss on my temples. “You know how my mother gets and she has been refilling her glass all night.”

“There’s no relationship,” I mumbled smacking his hands off me.

The driver shut the door as we walked off and I stepped inside of the fourteen-thousand-square-foot mansion being greeted by the butler as he held back the massive door for me to enter.

Jake’s family had old money which is why they went big for everything. They had a section on their compound for cars that resembled a dealership. A team of maids kept the imported Italian marble squeaky clean and the landscapers cared for the eight acres of land the property sat on.

They didn’t have to work if they wanted to but Mr. Harold was still active in their firm in hopes that Jake takes over, but that was looking like it was going to take time.

Jake placed his arm back around my waist and walked me to the grand dining room that had a table to fit twenty people. The table had food set to probably feed a couple families for a week.

My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach when I locked eyes with Wesley who was cleaned up real nice in a tailor made suit and tie. This was a side of him I never saw and it still had my kitty purring. I shouldn't have been surprised to see him since he was messing with prim and proper Kesha.

While Wesley ogled me like I was a full course meal, Kesha glared at me before driving her elbow into his rib. He cut his eyes at her and she dramatically rolled hers before lifting her glass and taking it back.

Mrs. Harold getting out of her seat to introduce me to everyone broke me out of our stare down.

“Mr. and Mrs. White, this is Amena Davis, Jake’s girlfriend.”

Jake walked me to them and her father happily welcomed me while her mom gave me a weak handshake barely touching my hand. “It’s nice to meet you,” she responded dryly.

“I wish I could say the same,” I heard Kesha mumble.

I allowed her words to go through one ear and out the other as I took my seat. I couldn’t blame her for being a hating ass bitch. If my nigga was checking for another woman in front of me I would be ready to rumble.

Telling myself that I only had to deal with this for a few hours, I kept my mouth shut ignoring both Kesha and her mother who had their eyes on me the entire time. More than likely it was because Wesley couldn’t keep his eyes off of me.

“So when is the wedding?” Kesha’s mother asked out loud in the midst of us eating dinner. it was very random and no one knew what she was talking about or who she was speaking to until she said Wesley’s name.

He barely touched his food as he looked up from his plate with his eyebrows bunched together. My mouth fell ajar in confusion.

  “I’m not marrying her.”

“And why not? You love my daughter and she will be the mother of your first child. It’s only right she take your last name.”

His mother smirked and looked my way. I took my eyes off of her and waited for a response from Wesley who asked to be excused from the table. As soon as he got up Kesha did as well.

Closing my eyes I sucked in a deep breath of air and then released it. We both had to have been doing a terrible job at hiding our attraction which prompted her snake ass mother to make her comment.

Inwardly I prayed she wasn’t pregnant.

“I knew he looked familiar,” Jake whispered in my ear. “Is that the man you had on the phone threatening me?”

“Leave me alone,” I snapped stabbing my Filet Mignon with my fork. I was so ready to go, but if I left I knew it would only confirm whatever Kesha and her mother suspected, so I stayed put talking to myself in my head this time.

Dinner went without further interruptions since the men took over by discussing their business. As women I guess we were only there to look cute and eat. Mrs. Harold was happy and tipsy and whatever deal the Whites and Harolds had seemed like it panned out.

The best part about the entire night was the abundance of liquor I drank to have to deal with not only being next to Jake but being in the same room as Wesley and the girl was difficult. She chose the perfect dress to show off her baby bump. It was barely visible, but I could tell it was there along with the ring on her finger.

Just like Jake and I, Wesley and Kesha barely communicated. The only time she paid Wesley any mind was when he was sneaking glances at me and she was sucking her teeth loudly.

“Are we going to talk about our relationship?” Jake questioned me snatching my attention from my phone.

  My phone chimed.

Get that nigga out ya face.

I tried to fight back the smirk on my face while I shot Jake’s worrisome ass a look.

  “There’s nothing to talk
about Jake. Not here at least, I told you I’m only here for your mother. That’s it.”

His thick eyebrows bunched together and he shot up from the couch we sat on. “Fine, when you’re ready to go home, the driver will be outside.”

Jake stood to his feet and stomped off like a kid grabbing everyone’s attention from his antics. Sighing, I stood up as well and smooth my dress down.

“It’s getting late and I should be heading home,” I said walking up towards the four parents that we’re having too much of a good time.

“Jakey isn’t riding with you?” his mother asked after I gave her a hug calling her one and only son by his nickname.

  “No, he isn’t.”

“You’re more than welcome to stay.”

“It’s okay, Mrs. Harold. Once I get home, I will let you know.”

I rushed out of there as fast as I could before she tried to convince me to stay. That woman loved me and was ready to plan a wedding that wasn’t going to happen.

“Aye, why you ain’t tell me you were out?”

Stopping at the door of the Rolls Royce, I looked back and saw Wesley walking down the stairs out of the door of the mansion.

“Well, I didn’t know you cared being as though you were with your baby mother.”

Wesley walked up to us and slid a hundred dollar bill in the driver’s jacket pocket.

“I got her. Buy yourself something nice.”

The poor driver looked like he was ready to piss on himself having Wesley’s tall strong ass hovering over him.

“I’m not going anywhere with you,” I sneered.

“Well how the hell you getting home? He ain’t driving you and if any Uber or Lyft driver pull up I’m taking them out their car and beating their ass. So the choice is yours.”

Gritting my teeth I stormed past him, and to his Range that was parked in the circular driveway.

Once I was seated inside of his truck, he closed the door behind me, rounded it and got in on the driver’s side.

As he drove I took in his side profile admiring every inch of his handsome face. His suit jacket was off and the cuffs of his crisp white shirt was rolled up exposing the gold watch on his wrist. As much as I disliked him, it was refreshing to see this side of him. I was used to the Wesley with the white tee and sneakers on his feet.

“You know all the staring got me in trouble,” he teased making me suck my teeth.

“As long as Kesha knows her man can’t keep his eyes off me, I don’t care.”

Wesley chuckled and pulled on his perfectly lined full beard.

“So you knew you were going to come here and see me,” I asked fully facing him in my seat.

“Actually I didn’t. Kesha told me about a dinner I had to attend. I ain’t know they were ya boys peoples though until I got there and recognized his face, but he ain’t look my way at all.”

“He must not remember you,” I shrugged.

“Oh trust me, he did,” Wesley laughed.

“Shouldn’t you be driving her home with you?”

“Kesha has her own place. We ain’t seeing eye to eye, so I’m cool on her right now.”

“Right now,” I repeated and he ain’t say a word which pissed me off. “Well if anything her mother said was true, you better get along with her. Y’all are about to bring another life into this world.”

I held my breath waiting for a response, but he didn’t say nothing. All I wanted to do was hear it from his mouth that he was expecting a child with a woman he claimed he didn’t want. He clearly didn’t have the heart to do so.

My phone began to go off in my clutch. He looked at me and then at my bag before chortling.

“You know it ain’t nobody but ya man calling.”

  “Jake and I aren’t together,” I snipped.

  “Yeah whatever.”

“Why do you care though? You’re about to have a baby right? Shouldn’t you be concerned about her and your child?”

Again, he didn’t say a thing. Instead he leaned up and turned up the music.

We rode in silence until we arrived at my house. He keyed in the code to enter the gated community and rode up the path to my front door.

Wesley parked the car, got out and rounded it opening the door for me. He took my hand and helped me out before closing it shut and pushing me against the exterior.

My breath got caught in my throat as he stared into my eyes. Our lips were so close the ones between my legs quivered. My body was begging to feel his on every inch of my skin.

With his hands pressed on the truck on either side of my head he pecked my forehead and the fire inside of me ignited. Placing my hand on his chest, I pushed him away. I wasn’t going to allow lust to blind me from the truth I wanted to hear from his mouth.

“Answer my question, Wesley. Is. She. Pregnant?”

My heart was beating so hard, I’m sure he felt it thumping against his chest.

“Yes, she is. But I’m not marrying her.”

It felt like the wind was knocked out of me. I know I opened my mouth but no words came out. The more I tried to say something, tears started to cloud my vision. I didn’t want him to see them fall, so I tried to step around him.

  “Amena, wait…”

He tried to grab my arm, but I got the strength of the hulk and snatched it out of his grip. As I walked to my front door I heard him calling me, but I kept going until I was inside my house with the door locked and shut behind me.

It was then I cried hard, wondering when my happily ever after was going to happen.

  Wes

I couldn’t lie and say I didn’t feel like shit about breaking the news to Amena that I was going to be a father. Was I wrong for feeling like I was ashamed of my child?

Nah, it wasn’t that. I was ashamed that I was actually creating a child with a woman I didn’t see a future with, now I was fucking stuck with her for at least another damn near nineteen years.

Climbing out of my car, I made my way to my crib that was a twenty minute drive from Amena’s place. When I got inside and noticed Kesha sitting in my living room. I don’t know how I forgot to take back the keys from her.

Walking further inside I noticed black trails of tears running down her cheeks.

She slowly turned her head towards me with a scowl on her face.

“What are you doing here, Kesha? I thought you were going with your parents.”

I tossed my keys on the console near the door and then stepped out of my shoes.

“We need to talk but forget all that. I thought you were going home, but I see I was wrong. There was a gut wrenching feeling in my stomach about you and that girl and I am right! Imagine coming outside and learning that your man took another woman home. It’s been almost an hour! What were you doing? Did you fuck her?!”

She popped up from her place in the sofa and stormed up to me and tried her best to push me, but I barely moved an inch. Her putting her hands on me only further irritated me.

“I told you about that shit,” I said gripping her hands.

“You smell just like her,” she seethed. “Did you fuck her?!”

  “No.”

“You’re lying!” Her voice started off aggressive but then cracked into a whisper just as her a lone tear ran down her face. Her lip trembled and she covered her face as she broke out into a loud wail over something that didn’t happen.

At one point of time I would’ve been swayed by her tears, but I stood there with my hands in my pockets staring down at her as she cried.

I felt no empathy because she bought this on herself. She trapped me with a baby thinking things were going to go her way and was hurt because it wasn’t. If I was to settle for anyone it would be with a woman that stood for everything I stood for. Kesha was fun, but not wifey material. Not even mother material, and she knew it as well.

“I have no reason to lie to you. If I fucked her I would’ve told you because you’re not my girl. Amena and I didn’t have sex. I took her home and then wen
t for a ride,” I explained not going into details. “But since we’re finally having a discussion let's talk about the shit your mother pulled. She was dead wrong for that. Just because we’re having a kid doesn’t mean I’m thinking about wifing you.” Kesha’s mouth opened then closed before she got angry again.

“What is it going to take for you to want to be with me?! I have my own money, my own car, my own place, goals and a career and you’re settling for a little ass girl that can’t give you anything but pussy. I am going to be the mother of your child god dammit! I deserve a ring!” she shouted.

“Amena has everything you named,” I simply responded walking further into my house. I went to my kitchen and grabbed a beer twisting the top off and turning it up.

“So you’re telling me you do want her?” Kesha brought her nagging ass to the kitchen standing with her hands on her hips.

I turned the beer up and took a good amount down before facing her again. “I’m telling you to stop comparing and contrasting yourself to other women. You got your shit together but just know you ain’t the only woman in the world that have what you have.”

  “Of course you would know…”

Kesha continued on her rant. I tuned her out making my way to my bedroom. She begged me to come to this dinner with her and I knew it was a bad idea, but I did just to make her feel good and it landed me in another position where I had to hurt her feelings. I don’t know why she kept making me out to be the bad person when it wasn’t me. This time around I was all for keeping it upfront. Nothing was a surprise.

After unbuttoning my shirt, I unbuckled my slacks, stepped out of them and carried them to my dirty clothes bin ready to get in the shower and sleep. Kesha’s loud ass mouth wasn’t going to allow that to happen. She made it up stairs to my bedroom still rambling.

“I’m not doing this anymore either you want me or you don’t. I’m done playing this wifey role to you when I’m nothing but another woman on your list. What is it going to be. There’s plenty of men that’s ready to make an honest woman out of me and play step father to our child.”

“Good, especially when you want to be buying rings and pressuring me to do shit I never thought about doing.” Her eyes got wide from my comeback but it was true. No future came to mind when we were close to being serious. It was for the moment thing and the way I was feeling that ship done sailed. “Let’s make this shit easier. Give me back my keys and go on home. There’s no need to waste our time or energy beating a dead horse. You want something I’m not giving you. We’ll only contact each other when it comes to the baby.”
