Devin and the Playboy

Page 10

Devin folded her hands to hold in the trembling. A smile wouldn’t come to her face for the first time.

“Yes.” Ina thrust the manila folder toward her father. He took it and immediately handed it over to Jack. Devin’s jaw nearly dropped to the floor at Ina’s wide gaze.

“Daddy, what are you doing? Do you know what this woman is?” she sputtered.

“You found her, Jack. I’m so happy for you.” He stood in front of Devin and took her hand. “Ever since my son first laid eyes on you, he was obsessed.” A hearty laugh rumbled out of his chest. “I thought he’d never get married because he insisted you were the one. I’m so glad to formally meet you. Devin, is it?”

“Yes, sir.” Her smile made a comeback, but instead of the plastic grin she’d practiced all her life, this one was genuine.

“He was right, too. You’re natural beauty. Fate had to have brought you two together that no one snatched you up.”

“You’re too kind.” Devin beamed. How had Jack done it? Everything Ina had built up to destroy them melted away.

“As for you, Ina.” His father picked at his gold cufflinks. “If any of the information you tried to share with me in that envelope or if any of the copies you might have made get to any news outlet, I will cut you out of the will and dissolve your ownership in our European division. Your poor business decisions have not gone unnoticed and if it wasn’t for your brother’s dealing here, our company would be faltering.”

“Daddy, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I called a cab for you. I suggest you go back to your hotel and think about cutting down your alcohol consumption. I also booked you a flight home. It leaves in five hours. Gather your things and get going. Oh, and all expenses must be approved by me as well.”

With one last huff, Ina stormed away, nearly staggering into a table on her way out.

“How?” Jack stared at his father.

“Stephan, of course. I don’t know what you’d do without that man. He’s an asset to the company.” His father took the latte that the wait staff brought over. Sipping, he winked at Devin. “Keep an eye on this one, Devin. He’s been a playboy most of his life.”

“I think I’ve got a handle on the situation, sir. He’s a handful, but I figure a few children will calm things down.”

  “Expecting?”

“Working on it. I plan to drag him away from the office for at least a week. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” She grabbed Jack’s hand and squeezed. “Shall we head home, darling?”

“Yes.” Jack helped her from the chair.

She hugged his father tight before the elder Monterey left the restaurant. Stephan, of all people, had figured out Ina’s plot and had beaten her at her own sinister game.

“Children? How are we going to pull that one off, Devin?”

“I have an idea that I think will be beneficial to us both. Shhhh.” She placed a finger on his lips as he tried to speak. “Don’t worry, Jack Monterey, your tastes will stay intact. I promise.”

  Chapter Fifteen

Back in their home, Stephan sat by Jack and Devin on the opposite side in the sitting area of the bedroom. She smirked at their dumbfounded expressions. “It will work.”

“Couldn’t we just use a cup and turkey baster?” Jack squirmed, seemingly uncomfortable in his own skin.

“I’m going to be blunt, gentlemen. I am a woman with needs beyond the material. Needs that haven’t been met. I am more than willing to work this out for the sake of everything you’ve built, Jack. I refuse to allow you to give that up. You need an heir. I need some warm flesh over battery-powered toys. So are you in?”

“It’s not unreasonable, Jack.” Stephan scrubbed his hands in his hair. “And she’s right. She deserves more. We all do.”

Without waiting for an answer, Devin stood and unzipped her pencil skirt. The blazer was hung carefully on a hook. With a grin at Stephan, the blouse slowly cascaded off her shoulders. The straps of the bra fell from her shoulders. She shimmied the skirt down along with her panties. Her hand out to Stephan, he glanced at Jack for a cue. Devin sighed as Jack hesitated.

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why,” she whispered. “This is it, Jack. The best of both worlds. Maybe you can bank on your father understanding. I think he could, but an heir not born from his son’s stock? That might not go over smooth. I love you no matter what.”

“Okay.” Jack nodded. He pulled Stephan close and kissed him. Their union deepened before Jack drew back. “Go to her.”

Stephan stood with Jack. Devin took a few steps back toward the bed and watched as Jack undressed his lover with care. He stroked his skin, the clothes left to wrinkle on the floor. The loving touch she had craved for years from Jack was lavished onto his assistant. She held back her tears. The love between her and Jack was of another kind, one she’d accepted by hatching this plan to save his empire. Like a voyeur in another room, she sat back on the bed and watched the men in her life kiss until breathless.

Jack, naked before her for the first time, laced his fingers in Stephan’s and moved to her position. Stephan dug into his pocket and handed her a condom. “We have to make sure.”

She took it, setting aside on her bed. “Yes, my loving husband.”

“I wish I could give you more.” Jack brushed her cheek and she trembled.

“Isn’t a family more? Isn’t that what we’ll become in the end?” She reached out and took both their hands. “I accept you as you are, always.”

He kissed her on the cheek and Stephan dropped to his knees. Stephan stroked the back of her nape before drawing her close for a kiss. His tongue parted her lips and she hungered for his offering. Her body shook as he withdrew.

Devin groaned as Stephan ran his hand over Jack’s thick shaft. She transported herself into his being, a bird on the ledge peering into a clear-pane window. His lips parted slightly, brushing against the head. Her breath caught as his tongue slithered out before he took the cock into his mouth. Precision to rival her own talents, Stephan sucked on her husband’s full length. The face of her husband was a devious delight of blissful awakening. How long had he rebuked Stephan’s advances for fear of discovery until she’d happened upon their vigorous lovemaking?

None of it mattered at that point. Stephan craved his lover’s flesh and urgently fucked with his willing mouth. Devin squirmed on the bed, fighting the urge to join the two, but she had promised to wait, to allow their coupling in her full view without shame. The heat in her pussy grew as she remembered all that Stephan had plied on her during the honeymoon.

Jack had a fistful of Stephan’s hair and his hips gyrated. Her husband’s rhythmic breathing signaled his impending release though the strain on his face told her he didn’t want it to end soon. He cried out and they both stilled.

“Lay back, Devin.” Jack’s chest heaved from exertion.

She complied and Stephan’s smooth hand glided over her thighs before forcing her legs apart. Her body responded to his intimate touch at her apex. Her back arched as his fingers slid along her opening. One digit penetrated, and another. She gazed into Stephan’s eyes and he opened his mouth slightly. Jack’s release, never swallowed, dribbled out onto her. He massaged her pussy, stroking the nub and guiding Jack’s semen into her. She matched his slow stroking and cried out when his mouth claimed her. As animalistic as he had sucked Jack’s cock, he crashed into her. Her screams pierced the room, but Stephen would not relent even as she tried to wiggle away. He pinned her down and her body jerked as another orgasm wracked her.

She gasped to regain her breath as the distinctive tear of the condom wrapper rang out. Stephan penetrated her again, the familiar girth of his cock slamming her to the core. She latched on to his back, her nails digging in for dear life. Her throat raw, she whimpered. His flesh burned and meddled with hers.

  “Don’t stop,” she whispered.

  He moaned. “Can’t…

Devin, lost in his ecstasy, never heard the rest of his words as his breath came out in huffs before he thrust one more time and collapsed. He rolled off. Near the edge of the bed, Jack stood with a condom on two of his fingers.

“You bastard.” Stephan weakly laughed, putting his arm over his eyes. “Fuck.”

“I had to have your ass, Stephan. It’s been too long for all of us.”

Devin smiled at her husband. “Thank you.”

“Sleep, my dear. I’ll take this troublemaker off your hands for the night.” Jack winked and peeled the condom off. “Stephan?”

“I think we all should go to sleep.” Stephan remained on the bed. “You can fuck me in the morning.”

“Go, you two.” Devin nudged Stephan before crawling up on the bed to get under the covers.

“How do we know this worked?” Jack helped Stephan off the bed and slapped his backside.

Devin shrugged and snuggled against the pillow. “A test in two weeks. If not, round two? Either way, seeing you two going at it is definitely something I could masturbate to.”

“Sure you wouldn’t want me in between those lovely legs again?” Stephan pulled on a t-shirt.

Devin whipped a pillow at him. The hit was vicious but her smile mischievous. “Get out before my husband finds you in here.”

Stephan clapped his hand over his mouth and Jack nudged him toward the door. Devin sighed and buried herself in the sheets. Sleeping was the last thing on her mind. Jack’s father seemed to know about her all along. How long after Jack saw her in the shelter did he obsess over her, even though he preferred men? Maybe she should have thought herself his personal charity case, but there was something about the way he carried himself made her believe otherwise. Either way, she was determined to carry on his legacy. Living from shelter to shelter until her mother died gave her a perspective someone like Jack Monterey should never have understood in her opinion.

Yet he did. Where Ina had embodied the selfish stereotype of someone born of wealth, Jack had seen beyond the veil of egoism. That and his special brand of love for her was the foundation keeping her under his roof. She would have walked if she hadn’t loved him for who he was.

Sex had been her companion for so long that without it, she felt hollow. Their session tonight had been earth-shattering and nothing she’d experienced before. Orgasms came and went, but coupled with a deep understanding, compassion, and devotion? She’d take that every day over her old life. In a way, he redeemed her.

Stretching and rolling over, Devin sighed. Too many thoughts rattled her brain to sleep. She crawled out of the sheets and found a pair of cotton panties and a robe. A nice snack in the kitchen would hit the spot. Light from the outside lamps illuminated her descent. To her surprise, the kitchen light was already on. Jack sat at the breakfast nook with a few sliced apples, cheese, and crackers. A generous amount of red wine in a glass was glued to his hand. Spread on the table were the pictures Ina had of Devin with her husband Victor. She slowed, contemplating a hasty retreat. Jack noticed her before she could slip away.

“Come sit with me.” He tapped on the plate of food and slid another glass over, filling it with wine.

She sat at the edge of the bench setting, taking the wine in her hands. “Jack, let me explain.”

“Explain what?” He set down the photo. “These? I knew about this for a while. What I didn’t know were the names of the corporations your former employer used as fronts. Now I do, thanks to you.”

“You do?” She took a nervous sip of wine.

“After Stephan sent you home that one night—” He cleared his throat. “Where you tried to seduce him. I told him to clean up the apartment to make sure that anything from your former life was stripped away.”

“Please don’t tell me you cleaned out my clothes closet. That took me a fortune to collect.”

“I think you’ll be fine without the neon green taffeta number.” He gave her hand a squeeze. “Trust me.”

“Unless we have an eighties night, then I’m screwed.” A weak smile faded as fast as it came. “Stephan found my diary.”

“Yes, and more, obviously. When he was leaving the apartment, Victor was outside the door. He had been stalking you. Seeing Stephan there, he put two and two together. Of course, Ina believed him when he said he had seduced you.” He swallowed his wine, the glassiness of his eyes born of unshed tears more than drunkenness.

“Jack. I don’t know what to say.”

“I have never loved a woman platonically outside of my mother, Devin. But with you? I feel this deep connection and honestly, I thought my need to have you in my life would kill us both. I was not kind to you.”

“No, you weren’t, but I’m leaving that in my past.” She snuck a piece of cheese and refilled his glass. “I’ve had more sex in my lifetime than I ever imagined because I believed some woman that escorting would show me the world and give me more power than I could ever hope for. I don’t regret what I did, but until you came to me with that offer, I never thought I could be anything beyond that. You gave me a sense of purpose, though I really didn’t see it like that in the beginning.”

“So do you think we can truly try this again?”

“Absolutely. Burn the contract, the pictures, and our rocky start.” She picked up a slice of apple and waved it in front of Jack’s mouth. He bit into the piece and she popped the rest into hers. With a clink of their glasses, they enjoyed the rest of their snack side by side.

As morning came, the fireplace burned to ashes any memory of their sorted beginnings.

  Epilogue

Devin groaned, shifting in the sheets. A warm hand stroked her clit and she sighed, content. The slow build within her burned her skin. A gasp escaped her lips, followed by a moan as a digit slipped between her folds.

“Stephan, we have to get to the office. Let her rest.”

To Devin’s dismay, the play between her legs ceased. “Jack,” she whined. “I’m not that tired.” She pushed down the covers to expose her swelling belly.

Stephan smoothed his hand over her stomach and gave it a gentle kiss before leaving the bed. Jack kissed Devin on the cheek before resting his hand on her baby bump. The little one within came alive at his father’s touch and kicked with vigor. She giggled.

  “He’s got some fight.”

“Like his mother.” Jack kissed her again. “Are you going to be okay by yourself today?”

“Yes. I promise to keep my phone on me at all times.” She pressed her hands to her belly to enjoy the movements of the baby. “I never thought I’d be a mother. This is amazing. I want more.”

Jack laughed. “Let’s see how we all do when he’s born.”

Devin watched Stephan straighten Jack’s tie, still naked himself. The rigorous lovemaking they had enjoyed last night and the playfulness melted away for their morning routine. They were truly devoted to each other and she was happy that they all had found within themselves to be one unit. Six months into her pregnancy, their experiment a success, she finally found joy and completion in her life. Almost four years ago, she would have never dreamed she’d be married and pregnant to the one client she never had—or ever will have—sex with. The strange predicament seemed to be the path she was destined to be walking along.

And she wouldn’t have it any other way.
