“Lay back down. I like you right there.”

Honey was smiling as she shook her head from side to side. This boy needed some help.

“So where does Neeka fit in?”

  Congo’s mood soured that quick.

“She and I had been kicking it for a little while when I was up. I was taking her shopping and shit. Blowing money like it was water, when I got knocked and shit started changing her ass changed too. She aint the same person she used to be which leads me to believe it was only about the money. I can’t stand her fucking ass now. You know she bleached my clothes, cut em’ up, soaked my shoes and watches in blue fucking water? Now I aint got shit.”

Honey’s mouth dropped open upon his submission. “You lying.”

“Wish I was. I been at a hotel all week. I don’t even wanna go home to her ass.”

“Dang, me and you both hitting bad.”

Congo looked like he didn’t care one way or the other. Honey on the other hand, hated the way she was living. She was even slightly embarrassed.

“I’ve been thinking about getting my own place.”

“You should. Anything to get away from the psycho perverted ass people you live with.”

“Yeah I used to think the same thing, but it’s a lot harder than it seems.”

Congo pulled at the loose strands of hair falling around her ears. Her face was frowned a touch and she looked stressed. Her eyes drooped some and her lips were poked out.

  “What’s so hard about it?”

“I don’t have a way around for one. Whenever I take the bus to handle business I always end up missing it, or something. I try to handle business without them knowing but it’s hard. Not to mention my appointments,” Honey paused and bit the inside of her cheek. “I have to get my money Congo. I can’t depend on nobody for anything so missing out on cutting hair is something I try not to do. It’s easier to just stack my bread and stay with Samuel and his people.”

Congo rub the hair on his chin. “Nah. Hell nah lil mama. It aint easier to just stay with them. I got you. I’ll help you get your shit in order.”

  “How you gon’ do that?”

“I work twelve hour days, you can take my car tomorrow and handle your business.”

Honey appeared to be thinking about it. Before long her face lit up with a smile.

“Well how you gon’ get to work?”

Congo frowned. “Fuck you mean how I’m getting to work? Yo ass taking me and picking me right the fuck back up.”

Honey had to laugh at him. This nigga really was a character. He would say anything. She hadn’t even thought about that when he said it even though it should have been obvious. Him being willing to help her had her feeling some type of way. Samuel and his family had offered to help too and all they wanted to do was use her. Congo must have wanted something too.

“What do I have to do? I mean you gotta want something in return.”

“Yeah I want your ass to pick me up from work on time. I hate waiting that shit makes me madder than a son of a bitch.”

Honey burst out laughing. He was frowning and sucking his teeth. He must really hated waiting if just the thought had him looking like that.

  “I’ll be on time.”

  “One more thing,”

  “What?” Honey was skeptical.

“You have to stay with me tonight in order to get it. I have to be at work in…” Congo looked at his phone to check the time. “Four hours. Aint no point in splitting up now.”

“I don’t know Congo. They’re going to wonder where I went. Then I’ ma have to hear they mouth about me not being there and stuff. That just sounds like a bad idea.”

“Aye yo Honey, fuck them aight? You aint gotta worry about them. I said I got you.”

“How when you still got Neeka? What I’ ma do when you go home every night and they dun kicked me out?”

Congo felt bad as soon as the words left her mouth. She was right. If she got kicked out and had nowhere to go, what could he do for her? He aint have shit to give her either. He barely had shit to give himself. Working this regular paying job was still new to him. He made good money but it still wasn’t cutting it. He was used to having to make shit happen but he didn’t want to run the risk of putting Honey in that type of position. He’d starved, and shit before but that wasn’t nothing he wanted her to go through. After he and Jabar had gotten into so much shit his parents had disowned them for a little while when they were teenagers. They was sleeping in abandon houses, which they referred to as bando’s in the hood, stealing cars and food and shit. But they were niggas and they had basically asked for that shit. They did whatever they could to get money and survive which eventually led them to the drug game. Shit took off after that. They was seeing major cash and the shit got addicting. Between the two of them they had the streets locked. Once Bar died all that shit died with him. Congo hadn’t touched a piece of dope since. He hadn’t even really connected with the niggas he used to run with too scared to tap into that life again. Now that he was living with Neeka and supporting him and her off his check alone, shit was rough. He made enough money to keep the bills paid, and get them extra shit occasionally but it was nothing like they were used to. Letting Honey drive his whip was in fact the most he could offer her right now, but fuck it, if that’s all he had then that’s what he would give. She’d helped him when shit was hot so he fucked with her the long way now.

“That’s what I thought.” Honey’s voice reminded him that they were still together, in his car, at close to four in the morning, chilling. Getting to know each other. He wasn’t about to let shit get sour yet.

“Let’s just focus on right now. Come sit on my lap and let me feel on you.”

  “You are too much Congo.”

“And you aint enough,” Congo patted his lap before grabbing a handful of his dick. “Sit right here and let’s talk.”

  “Why I can’t stay where I’m at?”

As much as Honey was resisting, sitting on Congo’s lap was exactly where she wanted to be, but she wouldn’t tell him that yet.

“Stop fighting me all the time. Just do what I say.” Congo grabbed her beneath her arms and pulled her up to him. Her chest was against his and their faces were close enough to touch.

Honey pulled the bottom half of her body the rest of the way and straddled his lap. Because he was still holding her under her arms she rested her hands on his shoulders. Their eyes were trained on each other. When Congo bit his bottom lip Honey shied away and looked out the front window. Congo leaned over so that he was looking into her face again.

“Why you help me that day?”

“Because you needed it. You needed somebody to have your back and nobody did, I couldn’t watch them treat you like that and stand by and watch.”

  “So you got my back?”

Honey didn’t look at him, but she nodded. Her eyes were still looking out the front window but her features were soft as she spoke. He could hear the feeling in her words. Her words had feelings stirring up inside of him. His own girl didn’t even have his back.

  “You know you pretty right?”

  “I’ve been told.”

“A lot of niggas be on you at that barbershop?”

With a shrug of her shoulders, she answered. “The ones that don’t know me. Everybody I’m cool with know I don’t even rock like that. I don’t do the casual nigga or causal friend thing.”

“Why you kicking it with me then?”

“You ask too many questions. You asked me to sit on your lap, I’m sitting here and you talking about other stuff.”

Honey didn’t want to answer that question so she changed the subject. Truth was, she didn’t know what it was about him that had her wanted to be his girl, but it was definitely something.

  “I can kiss you?”

“You aint been asking.” Honey’s snide remark made him smile.

Congo being the aggressor grabbed her face and pulled her head to him. He was kissing all o
ver her face and lips when she wrapped her arms around his neck. Honey drug her hips across his dick trying to scoot closer to him. The moment she did that Congo groaned inwardly. He squeezed her tighter in his arms and tried to pry her lips open with his.

“Kiss me ma,” He spoke against her mouth.

“I’m not that good at it.”

“I’ll teach you. Just follow my lead. Open your mouth.”

Honey opened her mouth a little and Congo sucked on her bottom lip. He sucked on the top one too before sticking his tongue inside. When he did this she sucked on his tongue lightly before releasing it and biting on his bottom lip.

  “Ahh shit,”

Honey jumped back instantly. “I’m sorry. Did I bite you too hard?”

Congo shook his head and pulled her head back to him. His lips were close to hers. “Hell nah you almost made me fuck you just then.”

Honey’s cheeks turned red and her breathing slowed as a warm sensation overtook her body. She shifted in his lap only for him to grab onto her waist and hold her still. She could feel the hardness of his dick pressing into her. She wanted to feel more of it so she rubbed her body against him. Congo watched her as she grinded on him gently. He held his bottom lip between his teeth as his hands roamed over her arms and over to her breasts. She shrank back a little but he didn’t stop. He kept massaging and observing her.

“Honey, you fucking with me right now baby. Come stick your tongue in my mouth to take this feeling away.”

She leaned forward and fell into his mouth unevenly. She wanted to kiss him. She had to. Honey needed something to appease the feeling brewing inside her. This unfamiliar desire to devour him. Touch and lick every part of his skin she could see. This animalistic urge to hear him scream because of her. The need to be as close to him as humanly possible. Honey’s hands and mouth was on him touching, rubbing, tasting, feeling, wanting. Oh Congo. She whimpered and he held her tighter. His strong arms entangled around her body made her feel so safe.

  “Your pussy wet aint it?”

His mouth. His filthy unfiltered mouth.

“Yeah, your dick hard aint it?”

Congo chuckled, she’d caught him with that one. He couldn’t even say anything after that. He had to give it to her that was smooth. She smiled when she saw him laughing.

“You feel like letting me get a quick taste?”

“Why you gotta say stuff like that to me?’

“I just speak my mind. You might as well get used to that shit.” Congo’s demeanor was so cool and collected. “I want you, and I’m rubbing on you whenever I get the chance. Shit and if you feeling generous enough to let a nigga taste it, I’m eating that shit up.”

  Honey screamed in delight.

“You want me to lick it too don’t you Honey?”

“I do. But you not about to. You need to go home and get some rest. You have a long day tomorrow.”

“What I tell you about pushing me away?”

  “You gon’ be tired.”

“I’m fine. I don’t know why we can’t just sleep here together.”

Honey looked at him like he was crazy.

“I’m just fucking with you. You right. Get back in your seat and let’s go. My ass is gon’ be tired as shit tomorrow.”

Honey moved off his lap and settled back into the seat next to him. She didn’t scoot all the way over she stayed in the middle so she could still touch him. Her thigh was pressed against his as he crank up and pulled out the parking lot. He held onto the thickest part of her thigh as he drove her back to her street. They didn’t talk much just listened to the music playing from the radio and entertained their own personal thoughts. Congo slowed back down in front of the light he’d picked her up from. He put the car in park and looked over at her. From the look on her face he could tell she didn’t want to go back inside but for the moment she had no other choice. He didn’t want to send her back to a place she hated but his hands were tied. They were both in a very fucked up space and somehow managed to find each other. Why couldn’t he find a bitch that had it all together? He had to find somebody that was just as deep in stupid shit as he was.

“I’ll be back to scoop you in about two hours cool?” He asked her.

“No, I’ll come to you. Where’s your job?”

  “How you gon’ get there?”

“I’ll catch the bus, Just text me the address to your job and I’ll come and get it from you.”

Congo could tell she was scared. Probably of them niggas finding out. He didn’t like the shit but he’d follow her lead.

“How about we just kick it together for the rest of the night? I’ll go home to get my shit for work and you can just drop me off.”

“Congo, you need at least a few hours of rest. I’ll be fine.”

“I know you going through shit Honey, just let me be here for you. Aight? I know that nigga got you fucked up but I’m here now. Just let me handle shit for you.”

She looked up at him with misty eyes and nodded her head slowly. That was all he needed. Congo pulled away from the curb and headed to his spot. His arm was stretched out across the back of the seat and she was snuggled closely to his side with her head resting in the pit of his arm. She watched him drive to some apartments and pulled into a parking space.

“I’ ma run and get my shit then we gon’ get a room for the rest of the night, cool?”

“What if Neeka comes out here?”

Congo thought for a moment he saw fear in her eyes but hoped like hell that wasn’t the case. He’d handle Neeka but if she came at Honey, Honey had better beat her ass. She and Neeka was close to the same size so she could definitely hang with her if she put up enough fight. But then again she probably couldn’t. Neeka stayed beating ass, she would more than likely run through Honey. He sat still for a minute thinking of what to do. He hadn’t thought about that before. He was too focused on getting her to agree to come with him.

“Don’t worry about it, just sit right here. She probably sleep anyway.”

Congo hopped out the car and headed up the stairs to their place. When he entered it was dark like he expected. He padded down the hallway and into their room. Neeka was knocked the fuck out. Her scarf was off her head and wrapped around her neck. I should strangle her ass. He looked at her and walked to the closet. His work clothes were hanging in the back on a hanger. He grabbed the hanger, his boots and walked to the dresser to grab some boxers and socks. Once he was sure he had everything he needed he got his brush and toothbrush from the bathroom. He exited just as quietly as he came in. When he got back into the car Honey was asleep. Her head was lying against the passenger side window and she was curled into a little ball on the seat. Her legs were pulled up to her chest and she was wrapped in his jacket. It had been lying on the backseat since he’d picked his car up from his parent’s house. He tossed his clothes in the back and hopped in next to her. He didn’t even bother to wake her up. He just drove straight to his parent’s house. He’d thought about going to a hotel but he didn’t see the point in wasting money on a hotel he wasn’t about to be in very long. He still had a room at his parent’s house and used it often enough for them not to be alarmed. Plus it was on the lower level, they wouldn’t even hear him come in. The house was dark when he pulled in and parked. He got out, grabbed his things and went around to Honey’s side. When he opened the door he had to catch her. She almost fell right out. He forgot she’d been leaning on the door. She swung her arms trying to break her fall but he already had that covered. She’d fallen right into him. He stood her to her feet and closed the door as she looked around sleepily.

  “Where we at?”

“My folks house. We gon’ stay here.”

Honey looked unsure but she just nodded and followed him up the sidewalk. Congo led her around the side of the house to a white door. He used his keys to unlock it before stepping to the side so she could walk in. The house was clean and cool as soon as she stepped in. She could smell the faint scent of flowers a
nd cinnamon. She walked around slowly waiting for Congo to show her where to go. The room was a decent size decorated with black furniture. There was a burgundy and black comforter set on the bed with gold curtains to the window. The small black sofa in the corner looked so cozy and sat diagonal from the TV. Honey kicked off her flip flops and sat down at the bottom of the bed. She watched Congo lay his stuff out for work before pulling his shirt over his head. He removed his shoes and reached for her hand. She took his, and he pulled her around the bed to him. She watched him pull the covers back before looking at her. She took this as her cue to get in first. Her soul literally left her body when she hit the mattress. This had to be the most comfortable bed she’d ever been in. She wrapped her arms around the pillow at the same time Congo wrapped his around her. He pulled her backwards as close as he could get her to his chest and kissed the back of her neck. Nothing more needed to be said. They were both out like a light. Dreaming of the sweetest things. Each other.

  Chapter Six

You have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life…

Driving around in Congo’s car was going to take some getting used to. Women had been looking at Honey all day not to mention how hard it was to drive it. It’s was so big and old she had to actually put forth some effort just to turn the steering wheel. She’d been everywhere she needed to go for the day. Starting at the housing office applying for section eight, to the health department to apply for food stamps. She needed to get her stuff together so she could move on from the spot she was in. It’s funny how living with Samuel and his people didn’t seem as bad until Honey met Congo. Being with him made her see things a lot clearer. After waking up with him at his parent’s house and how peaceful she felt, she knew for sure it was time then. She took a shower, ate, and got a good morning kiss. Honey felt so bad watching Congo get ready for work this morning knowing he hadn’t had any sleep. She begged him to just call out but he refused. It was clear to see that Congo was a hard worker. That was definitely something Honey could appreciate, because so was she. It was going on three o clock in the afternoon when Honey pulled Congo’s impala into the parking lot of her job. She had a few appointments and she was glad. She loved stacking money. She was about to get out of the car when she heard her phone ringing. The screen showed her it was Samuel. He had been calling all morning and she hadn’t answered because she hadn’t come up with a good enough lie yet. Honey grabbed her things from the car and got out. She made sure to lock the door before walking away.
