Sim couldn’t help but arch into his mouth, holding onto the back of his head as she writhes under his touch as his other hand wandered down the flat expanse of her stomach and eased the band to her workout pants down.

Her loud ‘fuck’ echoed around the room as one finger, then two fingers entered her wet sex as his thumb started a steady, but slow motion around her clit. Her hips were moving in tune to his questing fingers and soon had her on edge. With one thrust, he pushed her over. Her cry echoed as the intensity sent Simone to her knees, taking Jesse with her. Her hips continued moving in tune as her orgasm continues to crash through her. But she didn’t have long to catch her breath. Before she was aware, she was on her back. Jesse was yanking her pants the rest of the way down and off, taking her sneakers with them, leaving her bare on the mat and Jesse still half-dressed. He leaned over her, his gaze intense as his eyes laid a fiery path down her body to the wet heat that ached between her thighs.

His gaze held hers as he leaned down, his rasping tongue over the wet, sensitive folds of her sex. Her head fell back on the mat, a soft moan erupting from her lips at the first touch of his tongue to her sex.

Her cry echoed around the room, and he lifted his gaze to her. “You taste so good, Sim,” his voice a rough purr that played over her skin, sending shivers of desire through her. A smirk lit his face as Jesse saw the effect he had on her. He gave a long, slow lick to her folds, “I could live here.” He dived in enthusiastically, tasting and licking her into a new, more intense orgasm. Her sounds, moans of encouragement egged him on, his own hips thrusting against the mat, his hard length throbbing in his jeans. As he brought her to a climax, he discovered she was not only a screamer but also a dirty talker. He fucking loved it.

As the last contractions faded, a panting Simone was frantically pulling him up, as she sat up bringing his mouth to hers in a hard, dominating kiss. She moaned as her tongue swept with his, tasting herself as she felt her desire flare to life again. Her hands roamed as their kiss deepened, before reaching down to undo his jeans and pushed them down the tight, muscular curve of his ass. His hard length sprang fee, hot and heavy in her hand. She broke away to view the hard cock in her hand. It was long and thick, the head turning a vivid purple-red and leaking pre-come with every stroke. Sim looked into his face, the hungry look matching her own. “Please, say you have a condom.”

While she would love to feel the hard length in her hand, stretching her sex in a hard, fast pace. She couldn’t help the image of Jesse lying over her, face buried between her legs as his hard length was buried down her throat as they brought one another off.

He saw the shiver that raced over her skin and smirked, to know what she was thinking if the devious grin was anything to go by. He brought out his wallet and produced the much-wanted foil packet. He tossed it to the side as he kicked his jeans and shoes off the rest of the way, leaving him as bare as her. He brushed a kiss over her mouth, “As much as I want to feel these lips,” his finger brushed over her red kiss-swollen mouth, “wrapped around me. I’d much rather have these lips.”

His finger trailed a path down the center of her body till they reached the wet heat between her thighs, and brushed a light finger across the flushed lips of her sex. He took her gasp of desire into his mouth as he played briefly with her before moving away, picking up the foil packet he tossed aside earlier. His gaze never left her as he tore it open and sheathed himself in one fluid motion, nor when he slowly pushed the head into her opening. Their gaze broke when her eyes fluttered closed, and her head tilted back. He looked to where they were joined and couldn’t help the loud and long moan escaping him. She was taking all of him, a feat not many could do as thick as he was. He shuttled back and forth, seeing how wet the latex around him had him reaching the end of his fraying control. He sat back on his legs, taking the curvy red-head with him, planting her firmly on his lap and pushing his length further up into her.

Simone couldn’t help the loud moan escaping her nor the loud ‘fuck!’ as he started moving into her, her hips slowly, but steadily matching his rhythm. It had been months since her last lover and even longer since one had given her so many releases, have her wanting more and be able to give them to her.

The slow pace soon picked up as their hands and mouths roamed, inflaming them. Soon, Simone was panting with an impending climax, and Jesse was pounding hard into her as they began chasing their climax when Simone tightened around him as she clawed his back, with an orgasm so intense, she felt the edges of her vision going white.

Jesse held to her hips tightly, as he felt his spine tingling with the orgasm rushing through him, his roar echoing around the room. They fell back onto the mats in a panting, sweaty heap. Neither moved, and Jesse made no move to either pull out or off her. As they laid there recovering, Jesse had a realization. He was in big trouble where Simone Brandon was concerned.

Light burst behind his eyes as he came to. A dim light bulb swung as the man that turned it on, came into view. The boy squinted at him; unable to see clearly through his black eyes. “You know, this would all be over; you just tell me what you know.”

Jimmy wanted to scream in frustration and to his shame, cry in terror. A ragged breath escaped him, his ribs on fire, “Look, I’ve already told you, man. I don’t know any Sabine LeVeau, why do you keep asking me?”

He should have seen the fist flying toward his face, but he still said it and felt pain explode in his mouth. Spitting blood, he glared at the other man, as he looked incredulously at him. Then broke into a loud laugh and leaned in to grip the back of his head and forced his head back. “You really don’t know. Oh, you dumb little bastard.”

He shook his head and leaned into him.

“Sabine LeVeau is the daughter of New Orleans’ biggest crime boss and is suspected of killing her father, the head of the family.” An evil smirk came across his face, “You know her as Simone Brandon.”

  Chapter Six

Simone awoke to the feel of soft lips caressing the nape of her neck while the hand resting on her waist, slowly started up a path to her breast. At first, she thought she was still dreaming, the mouth that trailed a fiery path to her ear, and breathed a husky, “Good morning,” before the hardness rubbing against her, slid home. A surprised moan ripped from her as Jesse started the journey, to a pounding climax. She sleepily smirked at her lover before falling asleep again.

It was some time later when she woke again this time with the sun shining on her face and no Jesse in the bed beside her, but the shower going behind the closed bathroom door said he hadn’t left. Now for the awkward part. Does she ignore this and go back to their tentative friendship or does she own it? She flopped back onto the bed with a huff. This would be a lot easier if he hadn’t just given her the best sex she had in years.

Jesse stayed under the shower spray as long as he could before he knew he had to get out. He knew he couldn’t go back to the friends they had been, but also knew Simone would be on the first plane back to North Carolina if she knew he no longer wanted to be just friends. He leaned his head against the shower wall, shaking his head in disgust. How do you tell a woman that just wanted to be friends but also gave him the best sex he ever had, that you wanted more than just friends?

Simone looked around the kitchen and saw no one there before she came in. Then Jane came in with an empty coffee mug in her hand. A messy bun and sweats greeting her, told Sim this was one of Jane’s few days off since returning back to work from leave.

This also told her there would be no rush off to work to save her from the conversation that was bound to come up. She didn’t know how she knew, but she knew Jane was aware of what happened last night.

Simone went about making her coffee while Jane walked to the coffee maker as her toast was in the toaster. The silence was loud in the kitchen with neither speaking. Finally, Jane broke the silence as she placed her toast on the counter. “So, I saw Jesse leaving this morning.” />
She smirked at her around the rim of her mug, “That man had a helluva smile on his face as he was leaving.” Simone couldn’t stop the grin from spreading across her face if she wanted to. She remembered his reaction as she joined him in the shower this morning. She was drawn from her thoughts by Jane speaking, “So, is this one of those friends-with-benefits thing, a one-time thing, or I’m-gonna-run-as-soon-as-I-can thing?”

Sim grimaced at the harsh, but true words. She had a well-established track record of running as soon as things looked serious in relationships.

Simone held up a hand when Jane started to speak, “This is a one-time thing, and I plan to let Jesse know that. I need to finish this case, and I can’t have any distractions.”

She gave a nonchalant shrug, “Maybe after the case is finished we’ll see where it goes.”

Jane snorted into her mug, looking up at her as she set it in the sink. “Why do I have the feeling as soon as this case is finished; you’ll be back in Anderson so fast you leave a trail of flames behind you.”

Simone shot her a scowl and was stopped from speaking. “NO. Let me say this. I know you. You think if you settle down and actually get your heart involved, they’ll screw you over like Gabriel did.”

Simone couldn’t hold back the wince at the mention of not only her first lover but the man that utterly destroyed her during her early years of being in the Army.

“Or if you commit, they’ll turn into that sorry sonofabitch Ray and hurt you like he did Aunt Red and you.” Simone went white at those words. While the family never talked about it, they were aware Simone and her mother were domestic abuse survivors, but not the full extent of it.

Sim looked at her for a long time before she sighed, “Your right, Janie.” She looked away, “Only it wasn’t just abuse.”

Jane felt her blood chill at that; it took her a moment before she could speak.

“What do you mean?” she croaked out. Simone swallowed hard, “Everything but sexual. From the time I was eleven, I was his pet project. He wanted a hit-man loyal only to him.”

She looked at her with unfocused eyes, “He thought that was me. It started out as him taking me hunting.” She inhaled sharply, “Then it progressed to hunting with some of his friends.”

She gave a nonchalant shrug, “I’ve always been a good shot, but they took it to the next level. Many times, failure to make the shot resulted in a black eye or a busted lip.” Sim began walking around the kitchen, listlessly.

“By the time I was fifteen, they had nearly turned me into a cold-blooded killer, and they had put me in the field.” Simone couldn’t bring herself to say that at fifteen, she had been a contract killer.

It was never by choice and many times they resorted to threatening her mother to keep her in line. It didn’t stop that she had killed, and many times, before she was a legal adult. It didn’t prevent her from remembering the face of every person she was sent to kill.

She was broken from her thoughts, by Jane’s voice.

“It was Katrina, wasn’t it? The storms that’s how you got out.” She looked back at her from her turned position at the window, nodding, “Yeah, mom overheard them talking about a contract with me and thought Ray was having me killed. That was when we started planning to leave. Katrina just pushed our plans ahead of schedule and helped our escape at the same time.” Jane nodded in understanding.

“The floods would have kept them guessing for weeks if you made it out.”

And it had, by the time the waters receded, their trail was cold, and they had changed their names to further hide their tracks.

Simone was silent for a long time, “Now, you know. I know I have issues, Janie. You think I’m playing with fire with some of these men, but I’ve got reasons for being screwed up and not letting any man that close to me.”

Till Jesse. She knew if she ever let Jesse in all the way, he would have the power to break her in ways Gabriel would have dreamed of.

Jane shook her head, “You know. I really should have seen the signs of what you and Aunt Red went through, the same as Ali.” Sim turned to her shocked, “Jane, don’t go there. I should have seen it too, but Ali was too damn stubborn to ask for help.”

Jane’s dark brown eyes went hard, “But I did! I told myself I was seeing things, that Alex couldn’t be abused like that. She had to know she could come to us for help.”

She turned glassy eyes to Sim, “She had to know she could have come to me.” A tear ran down her cheek, “She told me before she died. She said she was afraid to come to us cause she knew.” Jane gave a hollow laugh, “She knew if she told me, I would have gutted him like a fish and not think twice about it.”

It was unspoken that Cole would have done the same, if not worse, to protect his twin.

No one knew the night before the divorce was finalized, that Simone sat outside the window of his motel room most of the evening, fighting with herself to go in there and kill him or give him just a taste of what he put Alex through. No one knew that. And no one ever would.

  ***

Jesse couldn’t help the smirk on his face as he unlocked the door and began opening and setting up the bar and grill. While he set up, he kept thinking about last night. He knew Simone didn’t plan to stay after the case finished, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t try to convince her differently. As if she could hear his thoughts, the woman in question, came in the through the back door, apron in hand. He walked over to her and without warning, pulled her into a breath-stealing kiss. Simone moaned and pulled him closer, feeling his firm muscles press against her curves. When he pressed her against the bar top, she didn’t stop him, nor when he lifted her to the stool, stepping between the cradle of her thighs. It felt too good, and she certainly didn’t want to stop, but when his hand went up to her top and started to pull it down, she knew she had to.

Jesse was pulling her shirt and bra down, revealing a full, pink-tipped breast. He pulled back from her mouth, kissing a trail down her skin before capturing that pink tip that had so caught his interest. Her moan and hands in his hair had him smiling, then she stiffened and pulled him away. He left her breast with a pop, frowning at her in confusion as she righted her clothes. She shakily stood, “We can’t do that again. I shouldn’t have let it get this far.”

A sinking feeling in his stomach told him she meant more than his passionate ambush.

She put some much-needed distance between them; she couldn’t remember the last time a man affected her this way, just by kissing her.

“Last night and this morning was fantastic.”

He couldn’t help that little bit of pride at her words. She quickly burst that bubble.

  “But it can’t happen again.”

  ‘What?’

He looked at her like she was crazy. Give him the best sex he had in years and then take it away, was she crazy?

She held up a hand, stopping any protest he would have said, “Not till I finish Jimmy’s case. Then when I am, we can see where this goes.”

Jesse wanted to protest, he really did. But, he knew Sim needed her head in the game to find her brother. Reluctantly, he nodded.

“You’re right. But once this case is finished,” he gave Simone a determined look. “We will be re-visiting this.”

And just to give her a taste of what they could have, he crossed the short distance between them, pulled her flush to him and took her mouth in a hard, passionate kiss. He pulled her tight against him, feeling her hard nipples pressed against his chest, his hardness pushing against the seam of her jeans. His hands cupping the round globes of her ass as he ground into her, enticing a loud moan from her, before his hands traveled up the sides of her breasts, palming each heavy weight. He broke way briefly before leaning down and giving each one a loud-suckling kiss before planting another one on her red swollen mouth. Abruptly, he pulled back, his hands leaving her.

“That’s just a taste and a reminder of what we’re finishing after you finish the case.” He walked out
of the bar and back to his office, leaving a panting and aroused Simone.

All that day and later that night, Simone was thinking about both what Jesse said and didn’t say and found she really wanted to finish this case and continue what Jesse started. Later that night as she tossed in bed that night, she knew she was in trouble where Jesse Fletcher was concerned.

  ***

Jesse made good on his promise; he was taking every opportunity to spend time with her and let her know his interest had not waned. Before, he would come by or send a text on her day off if he heard anything relevant. But now, he came over with food he picked up on the way. Sometimes, he brought something he had cooked, which surprised her since the few men she knew-Cole came to mind-could burn water. To her surprise, it was actually good, and when she asked him where he learned, he flushed.

“When I used to work the beat in Memphis, there was a woman in my apartment building that was a chef instructor at the local college. She lived down the hall from me and taught me some stuff after I set the smoke alarms off for the third time my first week there.” The way he said it, made Sim wonder if there had been more than cooking lessons go on. When she brought that up, a surprisingly shy smile graces his handsome features. “She was twelve years my senior, and yeah, we did see one another until about three months before I left the force.”

They talked in-between bites. While they talked, Simone found out Jesse, and the chef-whose name was Tammy-had seriously dated up till she got an offer to teach at the Culinary Institute up in New York.

He found out when he came over to her apartment and found it packed up.

He hadn’t seriously dated since that. He nudged Sim as they sat back from the meal and watched the movie she had started. “So what about you?” Simone paused in bringing her glass to her mouth. “What about me?”

She knew where this was going. “Any bad break-ups?”
