Fagin's Folly
Page 9
“I didn’t take you out with that intention,” Fagin felt like shit all over again. “It didn’t even cross my mind to leave you behind. You’re a part of me now. I’ve been racking my brains since I woke up, trying to work out what issue I had with people knowing we were together. I could’ve saved us a both a lot of grief, if you’d spent the night tucked under my arm the way I first intended.”
“I’m guessing you’ve never been out as a gay man before?” Cooper asked.
Fagin shook his head. “Before I met you, I’d never dream of actually dating a guy. A quick fuck in a dark corner is one thing; holding someone’s hand and introducing a man as my partner is on a whole other level.”
“Okay, so having regular date nights are off.” Fagin wanted to deny that, but Cooper hadn’t finished. “Don’t you think the woman you fondled was taking things a step too far? I understand your dick won’t work for her, but why the hell did you even try? How did your wolf even allow it? I know he’d be loyal to me even if you couldn’t remember who you belonged to.”
The fire in Cooper’s eyes was so damn arousing, but Fagin wasn’t entirely stupid. If he and Cooper didn’t hash things out now, there was no telling how much damage it would do to their long term relationship. “I was drugged by that time. I could barely feel my wolf. I don’t even remember Missy coming into the bar.”
“The woman you had your arm around was Missy?” Cooper’s voice rose. “I want to bond with you and carry your babies, Missy? You’ve already fucked her more times than I care to think about, Missy?”
Fagin nodded. “I don’t know if you noticed the two lugs with the flannelette shirts and jeans falling around their ass?”
“You’re speaking about half the patrons of the bar.”
Cooper had a point. Fagin tried again. “Two of the men me and Buster were swapping stories with were from the pack. You probably couldn’t smell they were wolf because of the smoke in the bar. Buster and I think one of them spiked our drinks. By the time Missy turned up, I couldn’t tell you what I was thinking.”
“I’ll agree on the not thinking part, but you and Missy got a lot closer than you fondling her boob at the bar. Your shoulder wasn’t the only place her scent lingered.”
Fagin’s cheeks were scorching. “The last thing I remember is drinking at the bar and telling stories. I woke up in my apartment on pack grounds, with Missy trying to get my cock to work. As soon as I knew what was going on, I pushed her away, freed Buster who’d been chained up and beaten in his apartment and got the hell out of there.”
“She must really want to carry your pups to go so far as to use drugs.” Cooper was being remarkably understanding about everything. More than Fagin imagined he’d be, but then being another wolf Cooper would smell a lie. “Can you speak to your alpha and get sanctions against her?”
“Two of my dad’s enforcers were guarding the door to make sure I didn’t get away.” Fagin hung his head as the full impact of the night before hit him. He’d never felt so low. He raised it just as quickly when Cooper chuckled softly.
“I thought my dad was bad, but yours takes the cake. At least mine didn’t treat me like a stud horse. Not that it would’ve done him any good. He let me know on more than one occasion the spunk that created me should’ve been swallowed. So, what happens now? You and Buster escaped. You saved me, but if your dad’s prepared to go that far, what happens next? He’ll have to know we are all missing by now. Is he going to come after us?”
“I don’t know.” Fagin shook his head. “It’d be nice to think if we stayed out of his territory, he’d just leave us alone. We have council approval for the pack and he has no reason to interfere. But I’m not sure of anything anymore with regards to him. You think you know a guy your whole life and then bam, you find yourself drugged and locked in a room with a naked woman bruising your balls.”
“Welcome to the Fucked Up Fathers Club.” Cooper reached out his hand and Fagin took it. “For what it’s worth, I’m sorry your father is acting this way. I know it’s not easy to handle. At least my dad was an asshole from the moment I proved I was an omega. I’ve had years to get used to the idea.”
“My dad’s got a lot to answer for,” Fagin said bitterly. “If it hadn’t been for his insistence I breed, I’d have been able to walk into that bar last night and not give a shit about what anyone thought of you being with me.”
“Er, mate, that mistake was on you, not your dad.” Fagin looked at Cooper in shock. “Fagin, you’re an alpha in your own right. You are one of the strongest wolves I know. You strut around like you own the planet. Why do you give a shit what anyone thinks of us being together? If anyone got too hateful, someone your size should be able to punch them out and tread on their prone body as you walk away.”
Huh? When Cooper put it like that, it all seemed ridiculously simple. Fagin was alpha born – a damn strong alpha and now the leader of his own pack. Admittedly it was a small pack, but an alpha was never judged on the size of his territory – it had all to do with the strength of his wolf and Fagin’s wolf was stronger than most. He knew that.
“You’re right,” he said, moved beyond words that Cooper was even sitting across from him. Any lesser man would’ve disappeared with no forwarding address and then Fagin would be well and truly fucked. “I give you my word it will never happen again.”
“Look, I know having a male partner is an adjustment for you….”
“No.” Fagin said realizing in that instant it was true. “I always knew my mate would be male. I’ve known since I was a teenager I would have to leave my pack one day because of their archaic ideas and so I could be with my mate. I let you down and you have no idea how gutted I am about that. I mean it. It won’t happen again. You belong to me; I belong to you and if anyone has a problem with that they can kiss my furry ass.”
“Now, you’re singing my tune,” Cooper smiled, and Fagin felt the world shift as the jumbled mess in his brain all fell into place again. “Although,” Cooper added, “the only person who’d better get near your ass is me.”
“Come here.” Fagin knew what he had to do. He only hoped his wolf would be on board with it. Pushing his chair back from the table, Fagin held onto Cooper’s hips as his mate straddled his lap. Flicking out a claw, Fagin ripped his shirt open from the neck seam. “I want you to bite me,” his voice turning husky at the thought of what he was offering. “I want you to bite me and leave a scar so every paranormal in existence from this moment on knows I’m taken.”
“You’re serious. You really want to wear my mark?”
“Bite me, mate.”
Chapter Fifteen
Cooper gulped. This was something he’d never expected. Oh sure, he’d heard tales growing up about how an alpha would fall so totally under an omega’s charms, that they wore matching mating scars. But that was his mother talking and Cooper learned the hard way, his mother’s fairy stories weren’t usually true.
Although…this one might be. Cooper wasn’t getting any signs of aggression from Fagin’s wolf and just seeing the man with his ripped shirt and earnest expression was making Cooper weak at the knees. “It’s a big step,” he muttered when he finally got enough saliva in his mouth to speak. “A very big step. There are some wolves who’ll think you’re weak if they see my mark on you.”
“We both know that ain’t true. There’s nothing weak about me or you.”
“You know other wolves are going to think that you…that I…” Cooper hung his head. His face was so red, he was sure he could fry eggs on his cheeks and a strip of bacon on his forehead. A thick finger tilted his chin back up again.
“Weren’t you just telling me, I really shouldn’t give a damn what people think?” Fagin’s eyes showed his resolve. “I fully plan on letting you take me one day. Not today, I don’t think either one of us are there yet, but there is going to come a time when I’m not behaving like an idiot and you trust me with all you are. I know I’ve set that back some with my actions over the weeken
d, but we’ve not known each other long. It will come. I promise.”
Cooper’s mouth was dry, his mind assailed with wicked images a good little omega should never be thinking of. He imagined the taste of Fagin’s skin under his tongue; tracing over every ink stroke engraved there while his cock brushed against the swell of Fagin’s naked ass. He heard a groan and was shocked to hear it came from him. Fagin’s smirk didn’t help matters.
“You’re thinking about it, aren’t you, my delicious little Omega.” Fagin’s fingers burned through Cooper’s shirt and Cooper arched into the touch. “You’re imagining what it’d be like to delve between my ass cheeks, maybe tease my virgin hole with your tongue as you work to make me ready for you.”
Cooper’s eyes fluttered closed and he groaned deliberately this time. His pants were sticking to the end of his dick and his ass begged to be filled. Fagin’s hand behind his neck pulled him closer, and a shiver ran down Cooper’s spine as Fagin licked up and then nibbled down the tendons in his neck. “You can feel it now, can’t you.” The sound of a zipper had never sounded so loud. A slight breeze and a firm clasp around his dick, let Cooper know it was his.
“Your cock sinking into my tight heat,” Fagin’s voice lowered in a growl. “Feeling my whole body clench around you as you thrust deep.”
“Fagin.” Cooper pleaded. He didn’t know what he needed, but fuck, he needed it now. One rip later and his ass was exposed. Cooper pushed his butt out as Fagin’s finger ran down his crack.
“Imagine surrounded by the heat of my body.” Fagin slid a finger deep inside and Cooper cried out.
There was a fumble and a second finger joined the first. Cooper could feel his slick running down his butt and there was a tiny part screaming at him that his suit was ruined. But all he wanted in that moment was for Fagin’s length to fill him, thrust into him, pound into him – anything to take away the ache he felt in the pit of his stomach.
“I’ve got you,” Fagin promised as Cooper was lifted. The angle was wrong and instinctively Cooper hitched his legs over the back of Fagin’s chair. That must have been the right thing to do and as he felt a nudge against his ass, Cooper bore down, throwing his head back as the delicious sense of being taken consumed him.
This was what Cooper was born to do. Yes, he’d studied and was proud of his profession. Yes, he’d proven his father wrong and actually made something of himself. But at the end of the day, when his work was done, this was what the omega wolf inside of him craved – pleasing his alpha and bringing his alpha pleasure.
“Fuck, you feel so incredible around my cock, babe,” Fagin grunted, his shoulders rising up and down as Cooper was slid up and down on Fagin’s shaft. Almost bent double, Cooper couldn’t reach his cock, but he was beyond caring. The sensations his mate pulled from him, the way he grunted every time Cooper was slammed down hard enough to feel Fagin’s balls. Cooper reveled in the connection with his alpha, a part of him wishing it could never end. He loved the rhythm, the way his butt slapped down on the top of Fagin’s thighs. The smell of their arousal saturated the air and every one of Fagin’s grunts hit a chord in Cooper’s balls.
“Get ready, babe.” Fagin’s eyes were almost black with lust, his nostrils flared and his lips curled to show his fangs.
Ready? What ready? And then Cooper remembered and he looked at the delicious muscle Fagin’s ripped shirt revealed. For the first time in his life, his fangs dropped voluntarily and he was sure he was drooling.
“Now,” Fagin yelled as Cooper’s body was slammed down one last time. A hand on the nape of his neck gave him the leverage he needed to reach and without thinking Cooper bit down hard. Fagin’s essence coated his tongue as Fagin stiffened and roared. Cooper was barely aware his cock was merrily coating the space between them, he was too busy trying to control his wolf. In a blinding flash, Cooper glimpsed his wolf spirit tussling with the much bigger alpha whose love was visible even in spirit. As he licked along the wound he’d created, Cooper could totally empathize with his wolf’s feelings.
Unwilling to move away, Cooper dropped his legs with a groan and nuzzled into Fagin’s shoulder. It was all he could do to bring his breathing under control but when Fagin stroked down his back, Cooper looked up. “Are you okay?”
“Oh babe, I’ve never felt better.” Fagin grinned. “You’d better give me the number of your suit shop though. I don’t think any amount of needlework will save this one.”
Meh. Real life problems. Who cares? Cooper didn’t. He was perfectly happy where he was.
Chapter Sixteen
It was two fifteen in the morning when the sound of a window smashing jerked Fagin from his sleep. He immediately rolled, taking Cooper with him to the floor. “Get under the bed,” he whispered as he grabbed his jeans. “There’s someone in the house.”
Cooper showed his teeth, but he did as he was told. His eyes were barely open, and his blond hair was sticking up in all directions, but he scooted under until he was completely hidden unless someone got on the floor and looked for him. “Just stay, please,” Fagin whispered as he ran for the door.
Peering out into the hallway, he couldn’t see anyone, but someone was definitely moving around downstairs. Buster came out, same condition as him; shirtless, jeans, and a grimace on his face. “One car just outside the gates. They must have jumped over.”
“There could be more.” Keeping to the wall, Fagin crept downstairs, Buster hot on his heels. When he was far enough down to peer into the living room, he kneeled down, watching through the stair rails. “Those fuckers are in the booze cabinet.”
“Kids?” Buster whispered.
“Wolves.” Fagin held up two fingers.
“Let’s go advise them of the consequences of trespassing.” Buster pulled his knife from his pocket. “I was having a damn good dream.”
Straightening up, Fagin leaped over the stair rail, Buster landing silently beside him. Now he could see more clearly, Fagin wanted to groan out loud. Jim Bob and Bobby Joe – the dimwit brothers. Drinking his expensive whiskey from the bottle like it was beer; a fucking rifle laying on the bar between them. Pointing down the hall, Fagin waited until Buster nodded and moved away. Hitching up his jeans, he sauntered into the living room.
“Jim, Bobby,” he said, internally smirking as the two men jumped. “Is there any reason you’re in here draining my liquor cabinet?”
“Hey Fagin, or perhaps we should call you faggot,” Jim Bob laughed and waved the whiskey bottle while Bobby Joe grabbed the rifle. “The alpha sent us,” Jim hiccupped. “Bobby Joe’s all sad because Missy won’t mate him till you get her in pup, so we’s here to make sure that happens.”
“The alpha told me Bobby and Missy would be mated the night of the full moon run.” Fagin crossed his arms. “Makes no never mind to me if it didn’t happen. I ain’t going near her willingly again, but then I wasn’t willing last night, was I Bobby?”
“I just do what the alpha tells me.” Bobby wasn’t pointing the rifle anywhere in particular but it still made Fagin uneasy. “You insulted Missy last night and I’m here to take you back, so she can get what she wants.”
“Does that include stealing my true mate and locking him in the food bunker?” Fagin let his fangs drop, but Bobby didn’t seem to notice as a look of confusion spread over his face.
“The alpha said nothing about you finding your true mate. We was told to take the boy you were with and keep him out of the way until you’d finished with Missy. Why would he tell me to do that, if you’re mated already?”
“Who do you think is my true mate, Bobby?”
“I don’t know?” Bobby shared a look with his brother. “But if you’re true mated, then why does the alpha want you to have pups with Missy? He has to know it won’t happen now.”
“My true mate is the boy you locked in the food bunker.” Fagin waited for the words to sink in. “You stole my true mate from me, hurt him, locked him up and left him to die.”
Brains was not one of Bo
bby’s strong points. He would make a good enforcer one day, but not until he developed a spine and stopped letting Missy boss him around.
“You’re true mate’s a man? How’s that possible?”
Fagin sighed. Bobby still didn’t understand the danger he was in. “Did you happen to notice anything about the scent of the man you locked up, Bobby? Anything different to regular wolf shifters?”
“I thought he smelled like an omega, but my daddy says only lady wolves can be omegas, so I don’t know how that happened.”
“Male wolves can be omegas,” Fagin said with more patience than he was feeling. “They are rare and very special. Only a really strong alpha can mate with a male omega. And do you know what happens when an alpha like me, true mates with a male omega?”
Bobby silently shook his head while Jim took another swig from the bottle.
“They become a lot stronger.” Fagin nodded. Buster rose up behind the two men, grabbed their hair and promptly smashed their heads together with a resounding thwack. Letting them go, the brothers slid to the floor unconscious. “And smarter.”
“These two are as dumb as a pile of rocks,” Buster said as he hopped over the bar counter and grabbed the rifle from the floor. “This damn thing isn’t even loaded.”
“Nice to know, he didn’t actually intend on killing me,” Fagin shook his head. “What the hell are we going to do with them now?”
“We could….” Buster broke off as a yell came from upstairs.
“Tie them up. Cooper!” Sprinting back up the stairs three at a time, Fagin slid to a stop as he entered the master bedroom and saw Missy holding Cooper by his hair; a wicked looking knife at his throat.
“I was listening at the door and didn’t hear her come in the window,” Cooper explained. “We should get….”
“Shut up,” Missy hissed, shaking Cooper’s head. Fagin leapt forward, but Missy waved him back.
