Haven 2: Redemption

Rokai thought about it. “Are you sure, Zha Quin?”

“I am. Earth is much changed, different quadrants are controlled by different inhabiting forces, all under the Consortium’s rule. This way she is sponsored by the Consortium rather than getting caught up in red tape with another government there temporarily to assist the Consortium.”

“I understand. I will trust you.”

“Thank you. If Bart contacts you, answer.”

“I will, and get some relaxation! You are far too stressed!” Rokai called out jovially before disconnecting the communication.

Quin disconnected his com with Rokai and accepted one from Bart. “Hello, Bart,” he said, his head beginning to pound.

“Why is there a Cruestaci battle cruiser on a preprogrammed path to Earth?” Bart asked.

Quin sighed. “It is Kol. He is following his Ehlealah.”

“To Earth?!” Bart’s voice rose an entire octave.

  “Yes, to Earth.”

“What did I explain, Quin?” Bart asked.

“I know well what you explained, Bart. I also know that there is no controlling a fully mature, Elite Force Commander who has found his Ehlealah only to have her run from him. He is going after her. There is nothing I can do short of blasting him out of the sky, and that is not an option!” Quin snapped.

Bart was silent while he thought about the situation. “They’re going to arrest him and impound your ship, Quin.”

“I know that. Unless you can do something to prevent it.”

“Give me a little time. I have an idea. I might be able to help. But if I do, all is forgiven by the Cruestaci regarding the issue with Rokai ahl. Your mother stops voting against me no matter what we are voting on, and she stops staring at me like she wishes to carve my heart out.”

“I will do my best,” Quin promised.

“Fair enough. Let me go, I have many favors to call in. You do realize if it was anyone but Blue Dude, I’d let him deal with the fall out,” Bart admitted.

“I do. And I appreciate anything you can do. Kol has most certainly not been himself lately.”

“I’ll let you know something as soon as I do.”

After disconnecting the com with Bart, Quin stood from his place on the sofa in his and Vivi’s room. He’d had a com placed in their rooms, so he could take calls from home. He was exhausted and needed to rest.

He slipped into bed behind Vivian and snuggled her close to him.

“Is Bart going to help?” Vivian asked.

“He is trying. He says he has an idea.”

“Good. I hope his idea works whatever it is.”

“As do I. It is all we can do. Both Rokai and Kol should be left on their own to work out their own troubles, but I just can’t allow that to happen,” Quin admitted.

  “I know. Me either.”

“Let us sleep, we will check on it tomorrow. It is all we can do.”

  <<<<<<<>>>>>>>

Kol sat in the pilot’s seat of the Cruestaci Battle Cruiser that was assigned to him in each battle they fought. He knew it intimately and was completely at ease in it.

The com pinged, asking for his attention, but it was a frequency he was unfamiliar with, so he ignored it.

It pinged again, and again, and again.

Finally, unable to tolerate the irritating sound any longer, he accepted the call. “What?!” He shouted.

“Ambassador Kol Ra’ Don Tol?” a shaky voice asked.

“Excuse me?” Kol said, in forced, broken English.

“I’m trying to reach Ambassador Kol Ra’ Don Tol. This is Special Liaison Elisher from Earth Base 28. We were advised that you’d been assigned here at the last moment, and we’re contacting you to offer our services once you land here on Earth. It seems you’ll be here for some time, and as neither you nor your species has visited before, we thought to make your transition easier.”

Kol was not stupid and was slowly putting together the pieces. Apparently, Quin had managed to get him listed as an Ambassador so that he’d not be arrested should he be detected on Earth without permission. “Thank you, for your offer,” Kol responded. “But, how long exactly do your records show that I’m to be on Earth? I was not planning to be there any extended period of time,” he explained, still in broken English.

There was the sound of some papers shuffling. “Excuse me, Ambassador Don Tol, while I read through the transmittal. We’ve just received your appointment and have not had time to enter it into our data base. I’m looking through your file… Oh! Here it is… three years. Your commission on Earth is for three years.”

Kol was stunned. Three years? Quin had deserted him! And what about his Elite Team? How would they function without him? All he’d wanted to do was to find Ada Jane, show her her abandoned farmhouse, and bring her home.

  “Ambassador?” the whiny voice said.

“Yes?” he answered in a less than confident tone.

“May we offer you housing and transition assistance while you’re here?”

“Yes, please do,” Kol answered, his mind whirling. How would he ever make it on Earth for three years?

Surely this was some kind of mistake.

  About The Author

My name is Sandra R Neeley. I write Paranormal, Fantasy, and SciFi Romances. Why, you may ask? Because who doesn't love a good romance, and the lack of reality in the story lines — because, well, normal is highly overrated, so Paranormal it is. I’m 55, I have two kids, one 33 and one 13(yes, God does have a sense of humor), one grandchild, one husband and a menagerie of animals. I love to cook and am a voracious reader, though since I started writing I don’t get as much time to read as I once did. I’m a homebody and prefer my writing/reading time to a crowd. I have had stories and fictional characters wandering around in my head for as long as I can remember. I’m a self-published author and I like it that way because I can decide what and when to write. I am by no means a formal, polished, properly structured individual and neither are my stories. But people seem to love the easy emotion and passion that flow from them. A bit of a warning though, there are some “triggers” in them that certain people should avoid. I’m a firm believer that you cannot have light without the dark. You cannot fully embrace the joy and elation that my people eventually find if you do not bear witness to their darkest hours as well. So please read the warnings supplied with each of the synopses about my books before you buy them. I’ve got four series published at this time, Avaleigh’s Boys - PNR, Whispers From the Bayou - Fantasy PNR, Haven - SciFi
Romance, and Riley’s Pride - PNR, a stand alone novel - Wings, several short stories, and much, much more to come. I’m always glad to hear from my readers, so feel free to look me up and say hello.
