Shattered Illusions (Terra Chronicles Book 2)

“It’s a Human tradition - you’re supposed to make a wish and blow it out,” Savanas said gently. “You don’t have to say the wish out loud.”
“I’m not sure if I have any room left for this,” I admitted, delaying what I was supposed to do. The little round cake sat before me with its white frosting and purple flower along the edge. The thin white candle getting noticeably lower.
Both women waited patiently. I did not know what to wish for. This was as bad as trying to think of something to write for the burning of the scrolls during the Winter Solstice.
Something struck me. While Retanei may not be aware of what happened, Savanas knew and she remained. So did the others. Vince nor Lockonis said anything about my part, though certainly would be an ongoing conversation for a while, but more on my capabilities rather than on the monster I believed myself to be. Even with the illusion gone, people were still here.
Taking a deep breath, I blew out the candle.
