“What your pappy is trying to tell you, Dillon, is to trust your heart,” Dad said. “Of the three of you boys, you’re the one who always has to weigh things out, mull them over before you make a decision. Craig is the brash one, ready to dive in without giving a single thought to the consequences. Dan sits somewhere between you two on those fronts. Sometimes cautious. Other times adventurous.”

“Dad, if I wasn’t the way I am, these two would’ve been in so much more trouble than they had been.”

“Son, we’re not saying you should change,” Pop said. “You are who you are. We’re proud of all three of you.”

Pappy nodded. “But when it comes to loving a woman, all bets are off. A man must throw caution to the wind and risk everything when it comes to the heart.”

“Which brings me to my question, Dillon,” Dad said. “What is your heart telling you about Miss Kincaid?”

“She is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life.”

“You can say that again,” Dan said. “Gorgeous. And that smile of hers. Wow.”

“Did you notice how much fun she had taking our picture by the entrance to the ranch?” Craig asked.

Dillon nodded. “And she was so sweet trying to pay for her coffee. By God, she is the whole package.” Filled with overwhelming emotions, he slapped Craig on the back. “You’re right. Mary is the one—the woman who we will meet at the altar and share the rest of our lives with.” He walked over to his dads and shook all their hands. “Thank you for helping me see the light.”

Dan raised his beer. “To our fiancée, Mary Kincaid.”

They all clicked their bottles together.

Pappy sat down his beer. “Boys, you have your work cut out for you winning that precious girl’s hand. Dillon is right about one thing. She’s not from Wilde. She doesn’t understand our ways.”

“Neither was Mom,” Craig said. “And she married you.”

“Because we are such handsome, charming men,” Dad said with a laugh. “Not like you three homely brutes.”

“The truth is that your mom thought she was only marrying Jack,” Pop said.

“What?” Dillon said, seeing the shock on his two brothers’ faces. “What do you mean?”

“Long story, boys. For another day,” Pappy said. “It was a wild wedding night.”

“That’s for sure,” Dad and Pop said together.

“You have your own lady to worry about,” Pappy said. “If I were you three, I would show up to your mother’s dinner dressed to the nines.”

Dillon looked at his watch. “Yes, sir.” And then he, Craig, and Dan ran to the truck.

  Chapter Seven

Mary turned on the taps, filling the tub with warm water. She poured in her favorite scent of bubble bath. The sweet aroma began to permeate the air. She lit the candles Carol had left for her, setting them around the edge of the tub. She placed her cassette that she’d retrieved from her suitcase in the portable player, which had also been left by her hostess. She had a wide selection of tapes, but after enjoying King Cakes at the diner, she wanted to go old school and listen to the man who inspired the breakfast dish. The songs on the tape were all soft ballads that helped set the mood for her to relax. As Elvis’s voice crooned one of her favorites, she carefully stuck her toe in to feel the water. The temperature was perfect.

She refilled her glass from the bottle of wine, another gift from Carol. When the tub was full, she turned off the taps, slipped out of her robe, and sunk down into the luxurious water.

Closing her eyes, she laid her head back on the bath pillow. She was so glad she’d met the Wildes—Carol, Tom, Will, and Jack. She had never been treated so well in her entire life. What would it have been like to have such loving parents as them? She couldn’t even imagine. Her parents were so self-absorbed and ambitious. Even though her sister was only a couple years older than her, Maude had been more like a mom to her than her own mother. They had shared a bedroom for many years. Maude made sure she would brush her teeth and get to bed early. Not her parents. Maude always read her a bedtime story to help her fall asleep. Maude’s favorite was always Little Red Riding Hood, but she favored Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Maude is going to make a wonderful mother one day.

Elvis started singing another song, and she began to drift off.

Three husbands? How is that even possible? One at time? All together?

She sighed at the sight of the infinite stars above her head. Craig brought her a rose. Dan handed her another glass of wine. And Dillon gave her strawberries dipped in chocolate. She smiled.

  My three husbands. All mine.

“I love you all so much,” she confessed to them.

“And we love you,” they said together in their rich, deep, manly tones.

Dan smiled. “Do you have your camera ready?”

“Why do I need my camera?” She sat up, looking at the gate to the Wilde Ranch.

“Because it’s your birthday and we prepared something for you,” Craig said, stepping back to the gate with Dan and Dillon. God, they were the best-looking men she’d ever laid eyes on.

She smiled. “My birthday?” That was several months away, wasn’t it? November.

As the three of them began stripping out of their clothes, Elvis came up beside her with a guitar, singing one of her favorites of his.

She couldn’t look away from her three men and their perfect muscled bodies. They began gyrating like the King when he was on stage.

“Your husbands have some good moves, Mary,” Elvis said.

When she turned to agree with him, he was gone, leaving her alone with Craig, Dan, and Dillon. “This is the best birthday ever.”

Completely naked, Craig walked up to her.

She gazed at his entire body. “My, you have such a big dick.”

“Better to fuck your sweet lips with, my dear,” Craig said and then kissed her. She felt a tingle spread through her body.

Then Dan stepped in front of her.

“My, what a big dick you have, too.”

“Better to fuck your gorgeous ass with, my dear,” Dan said and then slapped her bare bottom, creating a powerful need inside her.

  Dillon moved next to her.

“My, your cock is so big, too.”

“Better to fuck your tight pussy with, my dear,” Dillon said and then knelt down in front of her. When she felt his thick fingers slide across her slickened folds, she moaned.

Craig slid the tip of the rose’s petals over her shoulders and breasts, giving her sweet shivers. “God, you are so beautiful, sweetheart. You like when I do this?” He circled her nipples with the flower, causing them to tighten and throb.

“I like it very much,” she panted out.

Dan drizzled a few drops of the wine on her stomach and then began licking them up with his tongue. “I can’t believe you are ours, Mary. We’re the luckiest men in the world to have you.”

Tingles spread through her body. “I’m the lucky one.”

Dillon brought one of the strawberries to her lips. “Have a bite, my love.”

She loved the taste of chocolate with the citrus mixing together to create a wonderful treat. “Delicious.”

“As are you, honey.” Dillon pressed his lips to hers, kissing her into an intoxicating state of desire.

Dan’s kisses traveled down to her pussy. All three were taking their time, being so tender and loving with her. Her need to have them inside her and give her release began to multiply.

Kissing Dillon, she felt Craig remove the flower and replace it with his mouth. He sucked on her nipples. His hand went around her, and he began fingering her anus. Dan’s hot breath skating over her intimate flesh caused her clit to ache.

“I can’t take this anymore.” She writhed in the warm ocean they were floating in. “I need you. Now.”

“As you wish, my princess,” Craig said with a wicked grin. He pinched her nipples.

The three of them swam her to shore.

  “Stand,” Dillon ordered.

A hot tremor rolled through her. She stood under the stars, and Dan knelt down in front of her and Craig behind. Dillon stood next to her, running his hands all over her body. When Dan and Craig began licking her pussy and ass, the pressure shot up inside her. They fingered and tongued her into a state of absolute abandon. Dillon kissed her again, sending his hot tongue past her lips. She melted into all three of her men.

Craig fingered her anus, and Dan pressed her clit with his lips while sending two thick fingers into her pussy.

  “Oh yes,” she moaned.

There was a knocking sound. Was someone banging on one of the trees?

The climax exploded along every nerve ending in her body. “Yes. I’m coming. Oh God.”

“Are you okay, Mary?” Carol asked from the other side of the door.

Her eyes shot open. She was in the tub. The three Wilde brothers were gone. Oh God. What did she hear? “I’m fine. Thank you. I must’ve fallen asleep. Did I miss dinner?”

“You have plenty of time,” the dear woman said. “I was just checking to see if you needed anything else.”

“I’m all set. I’ll be down in twenty minutes.”

“Take your time. Dinner won’t be ready for another hour.”

  * * * *

Mary looked at the three outfits she had laid out on the bed. She wasn’t sure which would be appropriate to wear to Carol’s dinner. How did the Wildes dress for meals? This home was warm but also so regal and grand.

Business casual. Maybe I will fit in no matter what.

Her mother’s disapproving voice rang inside her head. “Better to arrive overdressed than under, Mary.” So many sayings from her parents had been repeated again and again during her childhood. Their philosophy on life was stilted and jaded. “The only measure of real success is how much wealth and influence a person attains. Everything else is just speculative.”

She’d never understood her parents, and they obviously didn’t understand her. Paul had been a catch in their eyes. He was in his first year of residency at the hospital. The only thing they disapproved of was her moving in with him before getting married. She had cared for him. When Paul had handed her a key to his apartment, she had jumped at the chance to escape her parents’ home that was free of emotions.

Another saying, not one of her parents’ but one that was universally known by most, popped in her mind. “Out of the frying pan and into the fire.” Moving in with Paul had been the biggest mistake of her life.

“Sorry, Mother,” she said aloud. “This is my life. I’m choosing slacks and a blouse.”

After dressing, she headed down the stairs to the kitchen and saw Carol working away. The aroma in the air was magnificent. “What can I do to help?”

The dear woman turned her direction. “Oh you look so pretty, Mary.”

“That’s nice of you to say. I really wasn’t sure how to dress.”

“You’re absolutely perfect, although the Wilde men will be wearing jeans and cowboy shirts tonight. That’s their normal attire, though they can dress up quite nicely when the occasion warrants it. You should see my boys in their tuxedos. Quite handsome.”

“I’m sure.” Her mind brought up images of Dan, Craig, and Dillon in formal attire. She could imagine they would turn a lot of women’s heads. “Point me in the direction that I can lend you a hand.”

“Everything is done, but I could use a little help carrying dinner to the table.”

She grinned. “I would love to.”

When they placed the last dishes of food on the large mahogany table, all the Wilde men came into the dining room. Carol’s husbands were dressed exactly as the dear woman had informed they would, jeans and cowboy shirts. But her sons—Dan, Dillon, and Craig—wore slacks and sport coats.

The three men who had invaded her dream looked even better in real life.

“You boys clean up nicely.” Carol smiled.

Jack laughed. “Trying to make your dads look like slackers, are you?”

“Not a chance of that happening,” Mary said. “I think you are all very handsome.”

“Mom, this looks great.” Dan pulled out a chair. “Mary, why don’t you sit here beside me?”

  “Of course.” She sat down.

“Everything smells delicious,” Dillon added, sitting down on the other side of her.

Craig nodded. He sat directly across from her. His gaze remained on her instead of his mother. His stare made her a little nervous.

She glanced down at her outfit. Do I look okay?

Carol sat at one end of the table, the closest chair to the kitchen. Her husband Jack sat at the other end, while her other two husbands sat across from their sons—Tom opposite Dan, and Will opposite Dillon.

Carol sat and motioned to the spread of food. “Enjoy everyone.”

Mary filled her plate with mashed potatoes, salad, fresh green beans, hot rolls, and a piece of fried chicken. Every bite was divine. Conversation was engaging, and she learned so much about this wonderful family. The Wilde Silver Mine was an important part of the community, where the majority of the town’s citizens worked. But what she loved hearing about was their ranch. Each of Carol’s husbands’ faces lit up when they talked about it. The ranch was massive. Thousands of acres. Dan, Dillon, and Craig were just as animated as their fathers talking about building fences, herding cattle, and all things cowboy.

“Do you ride, Mary?” Craig asked.

She grinned. “If riding a pony at five counts, then my answer is yes. If not, no.”

  “Would you like to learn?”

  “Are you serious?”

“I am,” he said. “Like we agreed, you’re going to see each of our houses during our interviews. The road to mine got washed out in the last storm. The only way to my home is on horseback at the moment. Even four-wheelers won’t get up the hill to my house.”

“What kind of teacher are you?” she asked. “I’ve never been in a saddle before.”

He leaned forward. “You’re in good hands.”

Carol nodded. “Have her ride Rosie, Craig. “

“Rosie is Mom’s horse,” Dan said. “She’s very gentle. You’ll do just fine on her.”

“Then it’s settled.” Craig’s gorgeous eyes locked in on hers. “We’ll get started first thing in the morning with my interview and your riding lesson.”

Dan’s eyebrow rose. “I thought I was Mary’s first interview.”

“It really doesn’t matter who goes first or in what order.” She wondered again how these men would deal with jealousy when they were sharing one woman. She looked at Carol and her men. Somehow they had figured out how to make this unique lifestyle work.

Dillon, who seemed to be the most practical of the three brothers, turned to her. “Mary, do you mind switching up the interviews? I think it would be good for you to know how to ride a horse. I would like to take you to the old mine during our interview. And like Craig’s house, you can only get there on horseback.”

“If you take Mary there, you better be careful, son,” Jack said. “Don’t go inside that abandoned mine. It is too dangerous.”

“I just want to show her the entrance, Pappy. She has a camera, and I believe she could get some great pictures for her article.” Dillon turned to her. “I think you’ll need at least a day with each of us to get the whole story.”

  She smiled. “Probably so.”

“Mary, it is beautiful at the old mine,” Carol said. “My three guys took me up there just a few months ago for a picnic. I think you will love seeing it.”

  “I think so, too.”

“I like this idea.” Dan turned to her. “I can take you to the Overlook Ridge for our interview. Mary, you can see for miles up there.”

She smiled. “And you can’t get there except on horseback, right?”

  He nodded and winked. “Right.”

“By the time I finish my article, I should be quite the cowgirl.”

“I’m sure you will.” Carol stood. “Everyone ready for some apple pie?”

She looked over at Dan, who was grinning. Then they both busted out laughing.

Carol looked perplexed. “Really, my apple pie is quite good.”

“That’s not why we are laughing, Mom.” Dan explained about their cheddar cheese conversation in the car earlier. “Would you mind if Mary and I try some with our slices?”

Craig nodded. “I’d like to try that, too.”

“Make that four, Mom,” Dillon added.

“You know I tried that once before I shipped out for Korea,” Jack said. “I thought it was great.”

“How about you two?” Carol looked at her other two husbands. “Would you like cheese, too?”

  They both nodded.

Carol grinned. “I want to try it, too. Cheese all around then.”

  “I’ll help, sweetheart,” Tom said.

  “Me, too.” Will stood.

“Count me in on that.” Jack jumped to his feet. “We all will help. Give these kids a moment to talk about the old folks.”

“I imagine they have better things to talk about than us, honey.” Carol grinned. “But I could use all of you in the kitchen.”

After the older Wildes left her alone with their three sons, Mary’s bathtub dream about them came crashing to the front of her mind. She had to look down at her hands, suddenly unable to look at the handsome trio in their faces.

“Mary, are you okay?” Craig said. “You look flushed.”

Nervously, she responded, “Isn’t it a little warm in here?”

Dillon stood. “I’ll turn down the AC.”

Calm down. No one knows about your dream except you. She took a deep breath. She was very attracted to the Wilde brothers. Who wouldn’t be? But she also had just left a horrible relationship. Now was not the time to start dating. Besides, choosing one of them to move forward with was an impossible task.
