“I can’t see what, but let’s go over everything again.”

THE ITINERANT HUNG in the ocean darkness, its internal instruments humming, clicking, and beeping as they worked. She and the Mystic Sea had remained in the Pacific, working in tandem to study the unusual amount of seismic activity along the Aleutian Chain and trench.
“Reading another earthquake, sir,” Taka reported.
“Bill, is the equipment still working correctly?” Marcus asked.
“So far, it’s collected and stored all the information we want on every activity without a hitch.”
“That’s great! No one has ever had the opportunity to observe and collect this much information at one time. This is going to put our geologists years ahead in research!” Taka exclaimed.
“This much information is going to take them years to sort through!”
“They’ll be in seventh heaven. Trust me, I know those Rockhounds.”
For a time, the bridge was silent, each of them lost in private thought. A sudden spurt of activity at Taka’s station alerted Marcus, but the report he received was more than he expected – much more.
“Sir!” Taka exclaimed. “According to these readings, I believe Mount Kanga just erupted!”
