  CHAPTER 1

  Point of View

It was one o'clock past midnight. Heavy metallic sounds were coming from the industrial area located near the sea. The air was filled with fear and uncertainty. Memories from the past day were still playing themselves on the streets of city Karash, not able to leave the present moment. Random pedestrians might unwittingly become a part of that scene, feeling the tension, experiencing someone else's emotions left behind, touching them, making them a part of that dance, of these memories long gone, but still vibrating at that instant. The buildings were tall, some of them standing above the fog, making it easy to look at the sky and gaze at the stars. Streetlights were illuminating the city with cold smoky lights, reflected from the concrete buildings. Karash was not small and not that big, enough to serve its purpose. Here and there, people would stare at the empty streets from their windows, realizing the coldness and harshness of the life they were living. Little wind was slowly making its way through the fog, touching and informing everything about its presence. It was gently traveling upwards, and then downwards, slowly moving towards the main hospital. One man was sitting on his balcony, gazing at the sky, at the empty seemingly meaningless life in front of him, at the reality, which was pushing everything to the limit to find a way to survive. This man was in that same hospital, located not far from the city center. His name was Alan. For him the time and place did not really matter, only his thoughts seemed to be the only real thing. He was sharing a room with two other men, experiencing the same outcome from different past events, having the chance to learn from a situation most of us would say to be the worst. Alan was a twenty—eight years old young man with incredible intrinsic strength despite his health condition. His family, friends, and girlfriend were coming through the weeks to visit him. He was more alive than most of the people, more hungry for knowledge and for moments full with meaning and excitement. This young man has done and achieved more things in his life than most of the people on Earth. He wakes up with a smile on his face, happy to be able to breathe, to inhale the living fuel, to see the sunrise, to feel the sunrays touching his face, reminding him that life is beautiful and full with secrets awaiting him to discover. He sees opportunity in everything. Always searching for the wonders of the Universe and sometimes just let the information come to him. People were wondering how someone could be so positive every single day and never lose faith in his own skills and his belief in life. The answer for Alan was clear. A gift was given to him, the gift of life and he knew that this was not an accident. If he existed, that meant that he mattered in this world at that time. He makes a difference in one way or another and without him, the world would never be as it was. He was there to explore the purpose of his existence, in which there were no random occurrences. This was far more complicated and important. As everything had a reason for him, there was also a reason to be born.

His family was the key to that behavior. They were amazing, positive and enthusiastic people, the life from which was radiating everywhere around them. They were supporting him in everything he was doing, without judging the choices he was making, looking at the beauty of creativity shown by their son. His parents were teaching him by their example and the freedom of choice was always there. For their son, every single man was a miracle and as he was given the gift of life, so the rest of the people too. From his early age, Alan was trying to understand why most of the people were not appreciating the fact that they were given the chance to evolve. After all, the answer for him was hidden in the “mainframe” as he was calling the so—called “Collective Mind“: a network of interconnected minds, with restricted possibilities and with no clear option for self—realization. This alone and his family were enough reasons for him to continue to look for answers and to do his work.

The second man sharing the room with Alan was Chris. He was trying to fill his life with meaning and rational explanation every minute, every hour, every single day. He was a fifty—eight years old man, having a great family: a wife, a son and a daughter. He was also living together with a sad companion. It just comes into our lives, occupies our bodies and makes us think, question whether we were good or bad person throughout the course of our lifetime. It makes us live in the present moment as some of us say. It is a companion none of us wants to have, but sometimes it comes and asks no one.

This man had a strong self—belief and he loved his family very much as he sometimes says that this was giving him the strength to keep going, helping him to see the world in a different way, with no fear of the inevitable end of his journey.

The third man was Miguel: sixty years old without family, alone in his own world but pretending to be a happy person with others. The three men were living in that hospital. From the terrace of their room, they could see the beautiful view of the river, which was flowing alongside the building. Huge trees were surrounding it, together with the green grass and verdancy, forming an atmosphere where one can sit in front of the river and dive into his dreams. Deep in his own world, a world that might be so different from ours, a world where everything is possible and everyone is there to help. So many people were walking these alleys, so many illusions were created, and so many feelings were still surrounding the place. There were happy moments, sad moments, moments of truth and disappointments. It was a place where everyone could be with himself and no one could intervene in its world. During the seasons, this place was filled with different emotions. It was changing not only its expression, but also its nature itself. People's hopes for health were still there and it would be that way long time after we are gone.

Alan was one of the most vibrant people Chris has ever seen. Despite his sickness, he seemed so alive. He wanted to live every single instant, to feel every feeling, to experience every emotion. Chris and Miguel admired and respected him for being so young, but with a strong soul and not giving up. The young man was an illustration of an individual who was not following the world's normal emotional states according to the present situation of his life. The three of them were living in a simple room with three beds, three closets, sink, and a small place for prayer in the corner adjacent to the window, in front of Alan's bed. It was covered with pictures and icons of the figures they wished to worshi
p. They thanked each day for the miracle to be alive as that day could be the last. Miguel used to say that this experience has opened his eyes for the important things in life. “Sometimes you need to go through a tough period in your life to see that this was the right way to receive a revelation,” he used to say.

Sunday was a visitation day and everybody in the hospital was having friends or family coming over. Our three patients knew everything about each other and the conversations were not difficult to start, and most of the times were ending in laughter.

Chris's family was the only thing he had in his life. His son, daughter, and wife loved him very much and were doing everything for him. He learned from a young age that the family was the most important thing in life and had to protect it at all cost. His son, Mike, a twenty years old young man was studying medicine and even volunteered to join a team, in which they were experimenting to produce a cure for cancer. His daughter Maria, also a student, every time was bringing his father some pictures of the old times, newspapers and of course the new chess magazine. Her father enjoyed playing chess. Every day he was outside, challenging his friends and sometimes organizing small tournaments for the people who could play the game. His wife Elena was the most precious of all in his life. She supported him whenever he needed her help, encouraging, and giving him unconditional love every single day. She still had her charming smile, which makes his heartbeat increase and feel secure. Somehow, he was thinking he would never be able to do the things he did in his life if she was not with him. He was thankful for all he had.

Miguel had no family. He has lived his life with the clear or should we say with the blurred mind, always thinking about women, gambling or having fun. He still had his charm even at that age, but of course now he didn't worry about that. He realized, distinguished the evil and how he had been blinded to follow his animal instincts to think about nothing else, but to prove to himself and to everybody that he is the best. That everybody had to like him. Now years passed and he does not think of this anymore, but still the memories come and go as an old and forgotten messenger from the past. Many of his old friends were visiting him, the old sharks, with which he used to go out and enjoy the evenings. Most of them were alone and some had broken families. Nevertheless, when his fellows were with him, he was feeling good, telling funny stories from the past. They would inform him about his other friends and bring some cigars, which he loved. Although the doctors did not permit him to smoke, he usually replies: “We all die one day.” Our three friends were bound in this place for good or for bad because of one reason: they all had cancer.

The life in the hospital was safe and quiet, giving room and cares for the patients. The days were almost the same except when someone was leaving or coming. The fatal cases were considered normal. A small percentage of the people chose to be there than outside, where they were going to face again the continuous life struggle and its troubles. People need to share their feelings. Shared grief is better, rather than taking the entire burden yourself and in the hospital, this was just like that. Hopelessly suffering people crushed by the life, manifesting horrible diseases in their bodies, ending their lives in this place, was a terrifying thing to experience. Alan was a witness of many emotional scenes there and this was pushing him to seek answers within himself about everything that was important. About everything that can prevent the people to visit these places, about everything that would give us wonderful lives and let us enjoy our lifetimes without regretting anything.

Alan was a tall young man around six feet with slim but elegant body, short hair, big brown eyes, Greek shaped nose, short beard, outlined cheekbones and as everyone noticed he had a tattoo on the right wrist, which was more like a symbol. His life was an amazing story of ups and downs. He was born in 2015, the year when everything went upside down. It was one of the most violent years of the human history. At that time, most of the people's minds were crushed and at the same time, new doors were open for the human understanding and perceiving. Doors well hidden, available only for those who were looking for them, creating their own paths in the realm of the human possibilities. A realm where new souls were traveling the existing and well—known roads. These people were just walking the paths, leading to known places, and the most important of all: these places and the roads were safe. Why taking the unknown and dangerous ways where they could suffer and even die, when they could walk the roads walked by everyone. Unfortunately, there was no chance to evolve on them.

Since young age, Alan has been curious about human behavior. He noticed similar patterns, which certain people were following, and different patterns followed by others. They could be recognized by the energy fields around those individuals, not by the face or the shape of their bodies. He was attempting to observe and sense different types of men, and the more he was watching, the easier was for him to understand the person, to differentiate the appearances from the character. From time to time, he was staring in the emptiness for long periods, like in a trance. Now was one of those moments. He was sitting in front of the window, just gazing at the clear sky, when Miguel interrupted him:

“Alan, can I talk to you for a second?” Miguel often spoke with the young man about life, about the things he believed were important and sometimes he was convinced the whole world had to know about. From time to time, he just liked sharing stories from his life.

“Sure Miguel,” Alan liked talking with everyone, especially when he could help or just encourage the person. He did not need to talk at all if you knew him. Just knowing what he was going through, seeing his mood and the way he was looking at life, was motivating enough for everyone to keep going.

“Today I was watching a man who died, a man who was looking good from the outside, but obviously from the inside something terrible was going on. A virus brought down his body, I didn't know the name of it, but this made me think and wanted to speak with someone. I knew I could talk to you anytime, so I hope I don't disturb you.”

“That's ok Miguel, you know you could talk to me anytime you want,” Alan tapped Miguel on his shoulder.

“Tell me, why people have to die so young, what is the reason to be sick? I know we are all going to leave the planet one day, that is certain, but why some of us get sick. I was thinking, me, you, Chris, we have similar disease in our bodies, and we will follow that guy sooner or later. I just feel sad about it. You know, sometimes I don't regret anything, which happened in my life, but sometimes I feel woeful about the way I lived. What should I think about it? I think life is purposeless, it has no meaning for some of us, and we just live and die for nothing…”

“Miguel, calm down old friend. In our lifetimes, we live as we think it's correct. We do things according to our understanding and our knowledge. We cannot blame ourselves for the choices we have taken or the way we have lived. This is how we were taught by our parents and by the society. This is the way we perceive ourselves, after we leave our families. The most important is to be willing to become better and thus, to inspire others to become better people too. You cannot judge a person by his appearance or in any other way. As this guy who died, perhaps he had a terrible sickness in his body, which was killing him cell by cell every day, but he was brave enough at least not to look as he looked from the inside,” Alan stopped for a second. He sighted and kept talking. “Yes my friend, we will all leave our bodies one day, but we have the opportunity to experience this world and to leave a mark behind us, to make a difference in the life of at least one person, one animal or to help prevent the nature from dying. As you know now no one cares about it, and the people who are destroying the planet are not realizing that they are destroying themselves. The planet and we are one. We are a part of the universal spirit. Every one of us, every creature, and everything in this world contains it inside. The earth is just simply a reflection of our collective state. Sometimes people do something to help prevent the nature from dying by planting trees or cleaning vast areas and after some time the problem comes back again. We n
eed to realize that until we clean ourselves from within, Earth will not project anything else but the same as it is now and will never change until we take action. If we keep eating toxic foods, the earth will keep being toxic because of us. For example if we have a glass and place it in the middle of a table, take a hammer and smash it, it will break in many pieces around the room. You cannot even know where all the pieces are. Nevertheless, all those parts are from the same glass. They will make the glass if we find every single one of them. And each of the glass pieces has the qualities of the other pieces. We as a people all make the glass. We are all made of the same as every piece of the cup is obviously made of glass. We have to live our lives with dignity, modesty, and understanding. My friend, don't regret about anything, but be happy that you had the strength and courage to do all the things you have done in your life. You have to be grateful that you are still alive and you have friends. Perhaps you believe that you have chosen the wrong decisions and that's why you a here, or you are blaming other people for what happened to you. I will tell you that there are no right or wrong decisions in this life. They are just paths you are taking and what happens after this is for you to go all the way, until you reach the next crossroad. The truth is that they are millions of started paths, which are unfinished, and when someone gives up, they become lost. My advice to you is to look straight in front of you. Think about how you will live your life from now on. I know you don't have many choices and that doesn't mean you cannot spend the rest of your life enjoying every single moment. Try to act on the things that excite you, things that give you more joy, and things that fill you with energy. This is what our purpose is: to act on the things that we are most passionate about. If we do act this way, the synchronicity of life will guide us and we will never be lost,” Alan stopped for a couple of seconds and then asked Miguel:

“Do you know how many paintings we have in our room?” Little confused about that question, Miguel looked puzzled trying to guess.
