“I’ve got her panties in a twist.”

  “Ew! Charles, that’s gross.”

I laughed. “Then don’t talk about my panties.” I shut off the Jeep and hopped out of the car. “Come by around seven. I gotta go. I need a shower before I head over to Aubrey.”

“Just make sure your house is clean. I don’t want to find any evidence of whatever crude things you’ve been doing with that poor woman.”

Liling hung up, and I headed inside for a quick shower.

Takeout and wine in hand, I pulled up to the chalet, feeling a little bittersweet at the idea this would be the last time I would come over to see her here.

Aubrey ran out to meet me, and her infectious smile caused a grin to spread on my face as well.

“I thought you were finishing packing.”

“All I’ve got left are a few things that I need for the night and the morning.” She reached out and took one of the takeout bags from me. “What’d you bring?”

“I thought we’d have Italian. I picked up a bottle of your favorite red too.” Before she could get too far away, I pulled her in close and stole a quick kiss. “You changed.”

“It’s our last night together. I wanted to look good.” She tossed her blonde hair over her shoulder, and I caught sight of the pendant around her neck.

Grinning, I nudged her toward the house. “Well, if you don’t get inside, you’re going to be a popsicle for the night.”

Once we were settled on the couch, Aubrey’s legs draped over mine, I nodded to the necklace. “You found it, huh? I was kind of hoping you’d just throw it in with your stuff, not find it until you got home.”

Her hand went to the rhodochrosite stone and she smiled widely. “I’m glad I found it here. It’s beautiful. But how did you know?”

“Know what? That it would look incredible around your neck?” I winked and took a sip of my wine. “I imagine it’s hard for a necklace not to, gorgeous.”

“No, how did you know this was the stone I decided was my favorite when we were in Glenwood Springs?”

I shrugged. “It just seemed to suit you. I didn’t know it was your favorite. I just hoped you’d like it.” I leaned forward and tucked her hair behind her ear before slanting my mouth over hers. The spicy, warm flavor of the bold wine mingled with the taste that was entirely Aubrey, a taste I could get drunk on much faster than any alcohol. For what was probably the twelfth time that day, I fought the urge to say the three little words that were stuck on the tip of my tongue. Aubrey was leaving, going back to her life in New York. The last thing she needed was the complication of a ski bum, who just happened to be decent with real estate, falling in love with her.

Aubrey sighed softly as she pulled back from me. “If it weren’t for the fact that I have to drive all the way to Denver tomorrow, I’d say we should stay up all night and keep doing that.”

“Let me drive you. I’ll take you to the airport.” I smiled and took another sip of wine, holding the glass tighter than I would normally. I hated the idea of her getting on a plane. I hated the fact that she was leaving me.

“That’s ridiculous, Chuck. I have to return my rental car. And even if I didn’t, there’s no reason for you to go four hours out of your way, just to turn around and come back. It would kill your whole day.” She leaned back against the arm of the sofa, her shoulders curved inward toward her chest, like she was trying to curl into herself.

“I can get one of my siblings to help get the car back. Or I’ll pay for someone to come get it. Please, Aubrey. Let me take you to the airport. I don’t care about how long the drive is. I want to take advantage of every minute with you that I can.” I set my wine glass down and reached for her, pulling her into my chest. “Don’t pull away until you have to, gorgeous. It’s going to be hard enough with you leaving. You don’t need to be distant now too.”

She fingered the pendant around her neck and frowned. “I don’t mean to. But sooner or later, we’re going to have to go our separate ways.”

“Maybe, but not tonight. It’s just for the night, Aubrey. Please, let me hold you for a while longer.” I let my fingers skim under the bottom hem of her shirt, tracing the curve of her lower back.

“Okay.” She closed her eyes and leaned into me more before her lips pressed to mine.

The kiss started off soft, almost just a brushing of her mouth over mine, but as her fingers reached up and raked through the back of my hair, her tongue slid over my lower lip, tempting me into more.

I broke the kiss with a groan. “I think we should move this to the bedroom, gorgeous. I want you naked.” I slid my hand over the curve of her ass and squeezed.

“What about the food? You brought dinner.”

“It’ll keep. We can always heat it up if needed.” I hooked my arm under her legs and stood, cradling her against my chest. Aubrey’s arms wrapped around my neck tightly.

She kissed along my jaw and down my neck as I quickly cleared the space between the living room and the bedroom.

My cock was already starting to strain against the front of my jeans, but as I lowered her down onto the mattress and pressed my body against hers, all I wanted was to taste her over and over. I kissed her again as I slid my hands under her shirt, bringing the soft fabric up so I could touch more of her.

Aubrey tugged my shirt up, pushing the fabric out of her way so that more of our skin could touch. She kissed me as hungrily as my lips moved over hers, our tongues tangling in a fast dance from her mouth to mine.

“You’re wearing too many clothes.” I groaned and stood, pulling her shirt up and over her head.

Aubrey laughed as her hair fell over her face. “Fair’s fair. Start stripping. If I’m getting naked, so are you. I want that huge cock of yours deep inside of me. As many times as we can before tomorrow.” She reached behind her and pulled off her bra.

I obliged and pulled my shirt off too, then reached for the fly of my jeans. “I’m not letting you put clothes back on until the last possible second.”

Aubrey grinned and reached up to wrap her hand around my throbbing dick. “Right back at you, Chuck.” She stroked her hand along my length, and as she licked her lips, she sat up, moving closer. “Of course, I could just suck this too.”

“Gorgeous, you’ve got a hell of a mouth, but I want your tight, wet cunt.” I groaned as she wrapped her lips around my tip. “Aubrey, please, take off your pants.”

She smiled around my girth and pulled back slowly. “I kind of like it when you beg.” She kept one hand on my cock as she undid the front of her pants. Then she grabbed my hand and pushed my fingers into the front of her jeans. She wasn’t wearing any panties. “Feel what it does to me to have your thick cock in my mouth?”

I stroked her wet folds and groaned as she flicked her tongue over my tip again. “You’re fucking soaked, Aubrey.” Roughly, I pulled away and grabbed her pants with both hands, yanking hard until they were off her thighs. They went flying across the room as I lifted her hips and thrust into her hard, filling her deep with one long stroke.

We both moaned out as her pussy clenched around me, taking me as far in as she could.

I kept my dick buried inside her and pulled her legs up until her ankles were on my shoulders, her upper back and head the only parts of her touching the actual bed. “You’re so fucking tight. Like you were made for my dick.”

She groaned as I pulled almost all the way out and drove back in again, her body at my mercy as I fucked her hard and fast. I felt like a crazed man, desperate to feel her lose it on my cock, each thrust rough and deep.

“Chuck, oh, god, you feel incredible. Harder!” She gripped the comforter over her head, arching up to meet me, trying in vain to meet me thrust for thrust. Her pussy clenched and throbbed around me, already close to climax.

Just before she let go, I pulled out with a groan, and let her hips fall back to the mattress. I knelt down and buried my face between her thighs, thrusting my tongue into her wet heat hungrily, d
rinking up her juices as she soaked my face and mouth.

“Chuck!” Aubrey rose up on her elbows and dug her heels into my shoulders, pressing me harder between her thighs. Her orgasm was so close, her cunt flooded my mouth, each lick and thrust of my tongue pushing her higher and higher. She screamed as her climax ripped through her, her thighs clamping down on my face as she writhed and bucked against my tongue.

She slowly flopped back onto the bed, her body pink and sweaty with orgasm, and she moaned as I licked her again.

“I’m not nearly done, gorgeous.” I slowly pressed a couple of fingers into her, stroking her gently as I stood again. Then I pressed her into the mattress, covering her body with my own, and lined my cock up to claim her again. I sank into her with a groan, filling her completely. “I just had to taste your climax. You taste so fucking sweet, with just a hint of spicy. I could drink your orgasms all day.”

Aubrey rocked her hips, matching my slower, gentler pace, as I pushed her toward release again. “Your cock is like heaven. But you do such devilish things with your tongue.” She arched up as I bent and swirled my tongue around her taut nipple.

I sucked on it roughly before I moved to the other one, taking time to taste and tease both equally.

“Chuck, I want to feel you come with me. Make me come so hard on your dick.”

I drove into her, harder and faster, gripping her hips roughly as I filled her again and again. Her pussy clamped down on me, and I groaned, burying my face in her neck as I thrust deep and hard. I moaned out her name as I lost it, filling her with my cum.

Aubrey cried out and thrust her hips up as she came with me.

I held her to my chest and rolled us so that Aubrey was sprawled across me. “You’re so incredible, gorgeous.”

She chuckled huskily and traced shapes over my chest. “I don’t think I’ve ever come as hard as I do with you. Every fucking time, you make me feel like I’m coming apart at the seams.” She kissed me hungrily. “And it’s amazing.”

I held her close, running my fingers over her spine, enjoying the quiet chance to touch and hold her. “We should probably get some food. And then come right back here for more.”

Aubrey grinned and kissed along my neck, shifting until she was straddling me. “We could have another round before then.” She ground down against me and licked her lips. “If you think you could be up for it.”

I gripped her hips and met her movements. “I can definitely be up for that.”

We spent the night together, touching, talking, kissing, fucking, only sleeping when we physically couldn’t keep our eyes open anymore. So often, I wanted to admit to her that I loved her, that I didn’t want her to go, but how could I do that when she had a flight to catch? I couldn’t even be sure she felt the same. All I knew for certain was that until she left, every moment I could, I would have her naked and in my arms.

The morning came too soon, and Aubrey curled closer into me as the alarm on her phone went off. “No. I’m not ready to leave.”

I rubbed her back and kissed her temples. “No one’s asking you to, gorgeous. But I have a feeling you want to get back to designing houses.”

She stretched, the blanket and sheet sliding down her body to expose her perfect breasts and the rhodochrosite pendant around her neck. “I got some sketching done here. I think you and your chalet inspired me.” She grinned and sat up. “I might just have to book another trip out here. Maybe by then, you’ll have the hot tub fixed.”

I grabbed her and pulled her back down against me. “You think you’re so funny in the mornings.”

“I have to do something to compete with your crazy hair in silliness.”

I kissed her hard and rolled on top of her. “If my hair is a mess, it’s your fault. I’m surprised I have any left with as tight as you grabbed it when you came.”

“Well, why don’t we see if you can make me scream while we shower off the smell of sex? I feel like I could eat all the carbs this morning, after the workout you gave me.” She hooked her legs over my hips and pulled me in close.

My cock was already rock hard and having it nestled against her wet pussy just made me want more. “Okay, shower, and then we’ll go out for breakfast. You’re sure you’re okay with me taking care of your rental car? I don’t want you to be worried about it.”

“Chuck, if I didn’t trust you, we wouldn’t be naked in bed together.” She raked her fingernails down my back and grinned. “I’m just glad I get a few more hours with you before…” She trailed off and kissed me, as if she was unwilling to say the rest of the thought out loud. I couldn’t blame her; I didn’t want her to leave either.

We stayed in the shower until the water turned cold, our naked, sudsy bodies pressed together as we kissed and touched and groped each other. I doubted the time in the shower did anything to alleviate the smell of sex, but it did at least help tame the hair she’d pulled up into crazy tufts.

After we got dressed, Aubrey finished the last of her packing and I waited for her in the chalet’s living room, checking texts and emails on my phone. I was so glad I had a large family, because each message helped to distract me for a few seconds from the fact the chalet would soon be completely devoid of any sign of Aubrey, other than my memories that lingered in every corner of the house.

  “You ready?”

I looked up and sighed at her. “I guess so.”

“You haven’t purposely sabotaged your Jeep or anything, have you?” She narrowed her eyes at me for a second, and then grinned and reached for me.

I crossed the living room and wrapped my hands low around her back, my fingers almost dancing over the top curve of her ass. “I’ll have you know, things that break around me are completely by accident. And how do you know it’s not all your fault? The hot tub was working just fine before you showed up. So was the heater.”

“Uh huh. Blame the guest. Did they teach you that in business school?” She wrapped her arms up around my neck and pulled me down for a kiss.

As I pulled back again, I smirked. “You know I didn’t go to business school. All this is self-taught.” I stepped back again and picked up her bags. “Come on, gorgeous. I’ll buy you one last meal. All the carbs you can eat before you have to go back to New York, where everyone’s way too concerned with appearances.”

Aubrey rolled her eyes and nudged me. “Is that really how you see me? A pretentious Upper-East-Sider who cares about nothing but fitting into the latest couture?”

“Oh, yes, that’s you all right.” I kissed her cheek. “More like Mindi. How did the two of you even become friends? I can’t imagine someone as smart as you hanging out with a woman who cares more about Chanel and Gucci than she does about people.”

Aubrey hoisted her purse onto her shoulder and picked up another bag. “Mindi and I have been friends for years. My mother approved.” She sighed. “My mother approved of a lot of things that have turned out not to be very worth it.”

I carried her things to the car, wondering idly what her mother would think of me. I could only imagine what she’d have to say if Aubrey brought me home.

Shaking my head, I loaded her suitcase into the back of the Jeep. “Okay, did you get your skis returned? Do you have anything else we need to get?”

Aubrey leaned against the doorframe of the chalet, looking almost disappointed. “Skis are returned. I guess I’m ready.” She climbed into my Jeep, frowning.

I closed the hatch and got into the driver’s seat, reaching over to take her hand. “You know, I’m going to miss you around here.”

Aubrey leaned her head on my shoulder and squeezed my hand. “I’m really glad I met you, Chuck.” The sadness lingering in her voice made my heart break.

The drive to Denver International Airport passed mostly in silence. Aubrey stared out the windshield, her perfect lips downturned in a frown that made me want to turn around and drive us right back to the chalet, keeping her there until she’d missed her flight and every single one after it.
r />   “Should I park, walk you in?”

Aubrey looked over at me, surprised. “You can just drop me off.”

“Gorgeous, I can’t properly kiss you goodbye in the Jeep.” I pulled into the lane for the parking garage and smiled. “Besides, what sort of a gentleman would I be if I didn’t walk you in and make sure that you got your bags safely checked in? My mother would be horrified.”

She bit her lip, fidgeting with the knee of her jeans. “You don’t have to. I can manage on my own.”

“Aubrey, what’s going on with you today? You’ve been quiet and distant the entire ride.”

“I’m leaving, Chuck. I’m about to get on a plane and go home. You can stop acting like this isn’t over between us.”

I frowned and pulled into a parking spot, then turned in my seat and looked at her. “It doesn’t have to be over, gorgeous. You’re going back to New York, but it’s not like this is the last plane to ever go between here and there. We can still talk. We can still see each other.”

She pushed her car door open and got out, pulling her purse over her shoulder again. “Chuck, you don’t have to pretend. I know how these things go.” She glanced at the back of the Jeep. “Can you help me get my bags out?”

I got out and helped get her luggage out of the hatch, but rather than let her take it away, wheeling the suitcase right out of my life, I pulled her into my arms and kissed her hard. Aubrey’s body molded against mine, like it had so many times, but her lips didn’t give as easily as they had before. Still, her hands gripped my coat, pulling me into her.

“Chuck…” She moaned and pushed away from me. “Goodbye, Chuck.”

She grabbed her suitcase and strode away, her steps moving quickly from me.

  25

  Aubrey

My first-class seat felt way too roomy, most of the section empty, like the space growing in my chest. Not even the complementary drinks could drive out the feeling of dread the closer I got to New York. Chuck looked almost hurt when I pulled away. But what else could I have done? He lived in Aspen, spent his days on the slopes, working with his hands, doing god only knew what with tourists.
