“God, I’m sorry for talking this way in your house.”
He approached her and said,
“This is exactly what I am talking about. My intention was not to really come on to you, I just wanted to show you that….” Joselyn grabs and kisses him as they fall to the floor with her on top.
“I want to feel those inches you have!” Joselyn yells while removing her blouse and bra.
“You told me that you are happily married.”
“I am mentally. But I haven’t had pleasure beyond belief in over thirteen years. We’ve done enough talking.”
Sage could see that Perry did not want to have sex with her, but he also knew that Perry was weak when it came to sex, and the fact that this woman was tremendously beautiful and partially naked did not make matters any better.
“Umm, I sure do like your rod.”
Joselyn helped Perry up and took him to another part of the church that looked like an apartment that contained everything from a fully furnished bedroom to a full bathroom with an attached Jacuzzi. Joselyn led him to the bedroom and instructed him to lie down. Perry says, “I don’t want to do this anymore. I’ve done so much wrong to so many people.”
Joselyn removed her skirt and panties, takes off his pants and says, “Do you have the strength to handle this?” As Joselyn placed his tool into her mouth, Perry’s eyes filled with tears that began to roll down his face and around his ears. “Please stop.” Perry whispers as his nature rises. Joselyn grabbed a condom and was about to place it on him, but after a few seconds of fumbling around with it, Joselyn gave up and jumped on top of him with her back facing him. Joselyn yelled frantically, scriptures from the bible while hammering onto him. Sage sorrowfully looked away as he sensed Perry’s orgasm inside of her. Joselyn laughed as her back arched and trembled during her orgasm. After completely satisfying herself, she fell off of the bed and tried to lift herself off of Perry. She then stood up and glanced over at him. He was laying there in a state of shock. Joselyn stepped into the bathroom, put her clothes back on, and returned with a washcloth. She wiped him down until she felt as though he was clean. When she began to pull up his pants, is when he asked softly, “Didn’t I tell you to stop?”
Joselyn smiles and says, “Yes, but your body was telling me to go, and to be honest I did not know which one to believe.” Perry smiles and stood up. “You’ve pleased yourself, now you feel so good don’t you?”
“Consider this a good deed in pleasing one of God’s chosen children to deliver the word.”
“I consider this as pleasing a Ho!”
Joselyn slaps him. He staggers into the bathroom and grabs the lotion off of the counter. He walks back into the bedroom and backslaps her with so much force that she fell onto the bed. Joselyn was dazed as he pulled down his pants and massages lotion onto his penis.
“What are you about to do Perry?” Sage hollered.
He rolls her over onto her stomach, flips up her skirt and yanks her panties off. He wipes the blood off the corner of his mouth and says,
“You’ve pleased yourself, now it’s my turn to be pleased! One good rape deserves another!” He pins her arms on her back and proceeds to rape her anally. Joselyn screams in horror as he forces himself inside of her.
“Is my length pleasing you now? How about the strength bitch?”
He stares at her while Joselyn screams, “Ahhh, I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” While laughing and calling her foul names, he climaxed inside of her. Perry releases her arms and looks down to notice that blood was not just coming from her, but also from his penis that began to ache in excruciating pain. He pulled up his pants and ran from the bedroom and out of the church. Sage woke up at 5:30 p.m. yelling, “When does the madness stop?”
ϕ
Sage showered, dressed and asked the hotel receptionist about the carnival that took place in the small town. Once he received directions to the location, he knew the church was not far from it. Perry only had her name, state, and occupation written down inside his book. He knew that was all of the information that he needed since his dream provided the rest. Sage drove up to the church when the sun was just about to set.
There were lots of cars parked inside of the church parking lot. Before he stepped out of the car, he closed his eyes and said, “God…Please guide my tongue and my actions. This is the most troubling moment for me based on these particular circumstances and I am aware that I cannot do this without your guidance. Amen.” An image of Deva flashed through his mind. He dimly smiled as he got out of the car and walked towards the church. He became calm.
When he walked inside, he glanced over to his left and noticed the closed door that led to the apartment. He felt disgusted as he walked down the center aisle and did not know why he started to feel this way. There were no children in sight. Only adults. Sage walked further and sat down in the area where Perry once had.
A voice from the front of the church says, “Excuse me sir? May I help you with something?”
Sage stands up and responds, “Yes. I need to speak to Joselyn Bergens.”
A woman approaches him and says, “I’m Joselyn Bergens. And you are?”
He stared at her for a moment because her hairstyle was different. Her hair was longer than what he had remembered in his dream. He clears his throat and says, “I’m Sage Mecan…I have a message for you but I respectfully prefer to speak to you in private.”
“My dear brother, we are family here. Whatever message you have to relay, please relay it.”
“I thought pastors were sensible people,” he mumbled.
He looked around the church and noticed that everyone was looking at him. He wanted to just say what he came to say and leave. But instead his facial expression became blank as he asked, “Am I really seen to you as a brother?”
“Why of course.”
“And are you my brother’s keeper?”
“Yes, I am.”
“But it’s only selective and to your benefit…Isn’t it pastor?”
Joselyn paused and eyed Sage from his dark shades down to his black shoes. His attire was completely black. She takes a deep breath.
“Mr. Mecan I’m sorry, but we have a program going on and either you could tell me your message now or return later after everyone is gone.”
“Well your second option is completely out of the question.”
“For some reason Mr. Mecan it seems as though you are playing games with me.”
“Yes, you are right--- I am. But it’s nothing compared to the type of games that you like to play. For example: My brother, an out of town wanderer, came here with a severely wounded soul and a broken down spirit seeking repentance and forgiveness for his heinous and atrocious acts.” He stepped past her and heads down toward the front of the church. “The acts? Having unprotected sex with married women and infecting them with H.I.V.!”
Gasps and “oh lords” were heard echoing throughout the church. He turns around and faces Joselyn and pointing at her. “You! You were the only known living human being that actually had the opportunity to stop and save him! And in doing so, saving the women he would have never met after you. I felt so disgusted when I first entered this church because of the domino of death that was structured and continues to spread well after his demise.”
“Sir, obviously you may be dealing with some personal demons or psychiatric issues and I’m going to have to ask you to please leave.”
“Oh, now I’m sir…No longer a brother. Humph. Well I surely wished you had treated Brother Perry with the same hospitality that you are providing me with this evening.”
Her eyes had widened. “Clearly, brother, under the eyes of God we are not to pass false accusations.”
“Believe me, sister, this is not a false accusation. While spreading the word in his ear, you also decided to spread your legs for his poison. Now hundreds, maybe thousands, have fallen by the wayside. Because of your selfishness and ministry of hypocrisy, you proudly display with so much pride around your
neck and across your chest, souls are lost!” Joselyn turned around to face the back of the church in an attempt to hide the tears that were filling her eyes, then turned back around and began walking towards Sage and says, “You have no idea what you are talking about.”
“How have you been feeling lately?”
“How dare you walk into my church with this mess?”
“I pray that God have mercy on your soul.”
Joselyn agitatedly yells, “He raped me!”
“Not until right after you raped him!”
Joselyn raised her hand to slap Sage and he grabbed her hand just before it reached his face. A man that was standing on the side of the benches yells, “I’ve heard enough! Joselyn Bay Bergens, what in God’s name gives you the right to strike at this gentleman? You were chosen to deliver the word. But it appears that it is time that changes within this church have to be made that should have been made some time ago.”
He walks towards her as she looks at him with a crazed look and says, “James, you talk as if you believe him!” Joselyn snatches her hand from Sage’s grip.
“You are my husband and you are choosing a stranger’s tongue over mine?”
“I don’t have to choose. I’ve had my doubts for a very long time about you. Your church meetings without me, may I add. The late counseling sessions during that time I was in denial. But when you decided to have the small apartment added on…because you felt as though traveling ten miles was too far sometimes when you needed rest for your in-between meetings, I was no longer in denial, I became suspicious. So I placed a hidden surveillance camera inside of your apartment.” Joselyn collapsed to her knees. “James, I don’t know what to say.”
“Well, there is a lot I wanted to say as I watched man after man come into this church just about every night of the week! When I watched what had happened to you that day you took a piece of that man without regret!”
Joselyn looks up at him. “Yes, you did strip a piece of his soul. It almost appeared as if he was dead. But that did not stop you!” James eyes began to water. “When you slapped him and he did what he did to you….”
“I don’t want to hear anymore James!”
“Well you are going to hear it woman! You are going to hear everything I have to say right now! When he did what he did to you, I felt, avenged. Justice had its way of making sure you paid for what you sow. I was filled with so much hatred for you I had wished he only continued until you bled to death.” He sobs. Sage placed his hand on James’ shoulder for a brief moment as he walked past him and out of the church. As he sat in his car, the congregation filed out, as well, leaving the pastor and her husband alone. He searched for his notes and located the directions to the town’s radio station. Though it was a ten minute drive from the church to that station, it seemed like hours as he could not stop thinking about the anguish and deep wounds inflicted on that husband’s soul.
Sage arrived at the station and parked his car in the visitor’s area. He noticed the white Porsche with a license plate ANGEL II. He called Deva while she was in the kitchen with Mya and Scripts.
“Hi baby! I miss you so much! Please tell me you are heading home?”
“I wish I could, but I would be lying to you.”
“Well are you okay? Are you eating?”
“Yes I’m eating and I’m alright, you know that was some moment we shared the other night. I can’t wait to experience many moments like that one.”
Deva whispers into the phone, “Umm, you are beginning to make me tingle and that’s not good considering you are not here to satisfy my desire for you. If I wanted to have phone sex….”
“Phone sex?”
“Yes, phone sex. Unfortunately, that is something that could not take place because Mya is here.”
“There will be other times for that. What are you and Red up to for the evening?”
“Mya is helping Scripts get his life in order.”
“Helping Scripts or feeding him because he totes his life around in that cart. What is Red doing? Reorganizing it?”
“No Sage, Mya is helping him to get on welfare and housing. Did you know that he was in Vietnam? He’s receiving V.A. benefits from an injury he sustained for the rest of his life.”
“Yes I know. Tell them I said hello.”
“I will.”
Mya walks into the living room near Deva and says,
“Oops, I’m sorry!”
“It’s not a problem Mya, what do you need?”
“I need another note pad.”
“I have Sage on the phone. Talk to him while I locate another notebook.”
“Okay.”
Mya takes the phone and asks, “Sage, when are you coming home?”
“I should be there by Friday. Saturday at the latest, but let me ask you something. Why an interest, in helping Scripts?”
“Because I see the potential in him not wanting to remain homeless for the rest of his life. Now let me ask you something. What are you doing that is so important that has you in and out of town?”
He laughs and asked, “Why are you curious about what I’m doing?”
“I’m not curious. I’m more concerned than anything.”
“More concerned?”
“Yes, more concerned.”
“Okay…Okay. If you must know, I’m on a mission.”
“On a mission?”
“That’s right, on a mission…A mission from God.”
“Okay Sage.”
“That’s right, it’s okay because since it is a mission from God, that means I’m protected by God, so there is no reason you should have any more concerns, alright?”
“Umhmm.”
“Okay, and Red?”
“Yes.”
“I love you.”
“Yeah, I love you too.”
Sage laughs as Mya hands Deva the phone and takes the note pad. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome Mya.”
ϕ
Scripts yelled from the kitchen, “Hey what’s taking so long? I have engagements to make.”
“There is no engagement more important than this when I’m helping you to get back on your feet.” replied Mya.
“That is what I wanted to ask you Red. Why are you helping me?”
Mya sat down at the table. “I feel as though you were dealt a bad hand after the Vietnam War. In my opinion, my parent’s and grandparent’s generation did not give the support or provide the resources that would take care of you once you have returned home.”
“But that’s just it Red. Your parents weren’t treated any differently during that era than I was. Though I was old enough to carry a rifle with permission to kill, I couldn’t be served a damn beer. Everyone was treated worse than shit from a vulture. You know, I received more respect from the Vietnamese that I did from here. Did I ever tell you that I was captured?”
“No! I did not know that you were a P.O.W.!”
“I wasn’t a prisoner.” Mya looks at him strangely.
“You see, me and three of my ranger buddies, for whatever reason, wandered off of a path and right smack into a northern Viacom campsite.”
“Oh my goodness!”
“That was not my choice of words because if I was one of those cortooshonist people, you know, the ones that can twist and turn and bend all over the place.”
“You mean contortionist.”
“Yeah, one of them. Well I would have bent over to kiss my ass goodbye.”
“So what happened?”
“Well, while we were surrounded with their rifles pointed at our heads, the leader walked up to us and said in his language to his crew to take our ammo. Just leaving us with our rifles. Then he said to us in English, “Why are you here with white man fighting us when you should be fighting white man in America? You not belong here. Leave and no come back.” “I thought to myself, you don’t have to tell me twice. So I led the men back but while leaving, I had turned around to get a final look at the man who opened my eyes th
at had been closed for so long. I dropped my weapon at that moment and vowed to never pick up another weapon to fight any war ever again. So, once we finally found our entire unit, I washed up and changed my underwear.”
Mya laughed as Scripts says, “Well I figured when they killed me, whoever had to drag me off was literally going to have a shitty task at hand.”
Mya stops laughing. “But Mya, those men wanted what every human being deserves, and that’s freedom from bondage.”
“What did they say about your weapon when you returned?”
“Mya that was something they talked about for a brief moment because I started acting crazy. At times, I would run around naked, repeating that comment from that Vietnamese. The military sent me home so fast and gave me a full medical discharge.”
“So you have full access to the base?”
“Yup! I have to see the doctor at the VA clinic in the hospital once a month. There, I put on my performance just to ensure that nothing happens to my benefits. You know, it’s a shame that individuals have to act out of character in order to get what they want and deserve. My ex-wife Nancy was cheating on me, so when I returned home, we argued about nothing that grew into fights and furniture breaking just so that woman could leave the house to be with him. Nancy could have just left and didn’t have to bust up the tube or break the dishes! If he means that much to her, Nancy could have just told me. Thank goodness we did not have any kids. My family disowned me. I didn’t have that many friends, so I grabbed my stick and bundle and left that shabby town and wound up here. As a matter of fact, the first person I met was Sage.”
