Bidding For His Heart

Page 3

by McKenna Rogue

“I’m going to make a mess of your leather,” I breathed.

He grinned like a Cheshire cat. “Oh, I’m counting on it.” He leaned in and kissed my knee and then started another series of kisses all heading up my inner thigh toward my pussy.

By the time he reached my core I was panting and gripping the seat headrests to the passenger side and backseat trying to remain anchored to the earth as his hot breath hit my pussy. His tongue dipped between my folds and I hissed as a jolt of pleasure ripped through me, followed by his tongue diving in for even more.

This had to be a dream, a hallucination, a head injury. There was no way Sam’s head was between my thighs as he ate me out. The whole world felt askew. I’d only thought of him like this a million times, and now here we were, and I had no idea how we got here.

At the moment I really didn’t care.

I rocked my hips into his face wanting to feel more. I hadn’t meant for things to escalate so quickly, but Sam was just standing there being all hot and acting like I was arousing him to the point of distraction. Was that really true?

His fingers dug into the flesh of my thighs and his licks grew faster. My pussy clenched and I swore he groaned. Could he tell how wet he was making me? How close I was to coming all over his face?

I gripped the leather seats, my breath coming in heavy pants. “Oh god, Sam!”

He pushed a couple of fingers roughly into me, thrusting in and out of me, pushing me higher and higher. I propped myself up on my elbow to stare at him. His eyes looked up at me as he slowed his attack on my center, his fingers plunged deep and stayed deep.

“Sam, I don’t know if this is a good idea.”

“You don’t want to come on my face?” he growled.

I swallowed the orange-sized lump in my throat. I wanted it more than anything, but I really didn’t know how the hell we got here. After all the time we’d been in each other’s lives, how did he end up between my legs with his eyes looking at me like he wanted to strip me down and taste me everywhere?

  “I-I…”

He kissed my inner thigh and then nipped at it playfully causing me to jerk, and my pussy clenched around his annoyingly still, thick fingers.

“Tell me what you want, Kate. Because I really want you to come on my face. And maybe later tonight, you’ll ride me and come all over my cock.”

“Oh my god, I want that,” I breathed.

He grinned like he’d just won something. His fingers started slow thrusts and then his tongue flicked against my clit. Sam’s free hand slid under me, groping my ass, holding my rocking hips in place.

  “Then come for me, Kate.”

“Don’t stop.” I dropped my hand on his head and pushed him back toward my center.

He chuckled before he went back to work. I held him against me as the pleasure spiraled inside of me. I enjoyed the real-life fantasy unfurling before me, as my climax twisted inside me, getting ready to release. Sam latched his mouth around my clit as he thrust his fingers in me so fast it was almost painful, but I loved it. I hooked my leg over his shoulder and held him against me, and then my entire body seized. My hips rocked up, my leg flexed, locking his head against my other thigh. His fingers slipped away, and he dipped lower to lap up my release. I panted as I jerked and twitched with my orgasm.

  “Holy hell, Sam.”

He stayed pinned against me until I relaxed. He helped me up and I slid to my feet out of the SUV. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, licking his lips one more time. “Damn, you taste good. I can’t wait to do that again.”

My cheeks burned with embarrassment and arousal at the thought of doing that again. And again, and again, and again.

Sam kissed me. It was slow, like he had all the time in the world.

“You’re, um, still sporting quite the erection,” I murmured.

“The bowling alley is empty. Tara let me rent it out for a couple of hours. She showed me where to get the shoes and how to run everything. Charlie is running the grill and will get us our drinks.”

“And you can walk with that thing between your legs?”

He smirked. “I’ve been semi hard all evening, so…”

  “Not because of me?”

  “Who else, Kate?”

I licked my lips. “I could help with that.”

He growled and kissed me again. “You will. But right now, I want to go out on our date. Now that the edge has been taken off…”

“Really? Has it? For whom exactly?”

“Fair enough, but I think we still bowl anyway.”

“All right. I’ll lead the way.”

“Great, I’ll be sure to press my cock against your ass to keep anyone else from seeing the state you have me in.”

“I still don’t understand how all of that is for me.”

  “Let’s talk.”

  Sam

  I could still taste Kate.

I wanted nothing more than to bend her over the ball return and finish what we started in the parking lot.

But Kate was clearly freaked out.

I couldn’t blame her. She’d been through so much the last few months, so much I didn’t even know about, and I didn’t want to be just another asshole adding to her stress.

I wanted to be something good in her life.

Only one lane was lit up, and I sent Kate to find a ball while I dealt with food and drinks. Luckily, I was now only mostly hard. At least it didn’t look like my cock was going to burst through my jeans any second.

Charlie handed me a couple of beers and then told me he’d bring the food out when it was ready.

“Why did you bet on this date?” I asked, setting the pitcher and glasses down in front of her.

“It’s the perfect date,” she said nonchalantly. “Ask Maisie. It’s exactly what I told her I wanted. I had no idea you’d be on the other side of it. Plus, your ex was pretty set on getting a date with you.”

I rolled my eyes. “I wish Lana would get a clue.”

“What happened between the two of you?”

“She wanted to marry a doctor. She wasn’t really particular after that. She liked that I was attractive, but it wasn’t exactly a requirement. She wanted me to take a job offer in Minnesota at the Mayo Clinic. It would’ve meant more money and prestige, but that’s not what I wanted. I wanted to stay here. I like being close to Maisie and Liam. I wanted to start a family in Jubilee Falls. Lana wants out. And that was only the beginning of our problems.”

  “I’m sorry. That sucks.”

“It wasn’t meant to be,” I replied.

“What is meant to be? Was it meant to be that I struggled through achieving my dreams to only have them shut down by a fraction of a man who doesn’t understand consent or respect? Fate can suck it if that’s the case.” She chugged a few big gulps of her beer and then stood up. “I’m going first.”

I twisted in my seat so I could watch her. I couldn’t believe everything she’d been through. She was pissed and rightfully so. Fate was a cruel bitch if this was all part of the plan. And what about us? Kate and I had been in each other’s lives for a long time. What if we’d gotten together sooner? Would that asshole have kept his hands off her if she’d been married?

But then I wouldn’t be in Jubilee. Or she never would’ve gone to New York, because of my dreams.

She picked up the ball and lined herself up, took four steps, swung the ball back and released while her right leg dipped behind her. The magenta ball clunked loudly to the shiny wooden lane and rolled down the center. It held true, knocking the middle pin and causing a perfect split.

“That was a nice shot. I didn’t know you were good at bowling.”

“Bowling and badminton. Those are my games. Don’t know why, but they are.”

“I remember that,” I said. “In high school we played, and Tom Kent always talked about the…”

She lifted her ball out of the return and cocked an eyebrow at me. “Didn’t think that one th
rough, did you? The fat girl in gym who was surprisingly good at badminton, right?”

“That is what he said,” I replied. “I didn’t mean…”

“I know, Sam. It’s okay. I know what I look like. And I know how people talked about me then. And now, frankly.”

She turned around and started lining herself up again. I got up and moved in behind her and wrapped my hands around her curvy hips. I loved the way she felt in my hands. I pulled her back against my pelvis knowing she’d be able to feel my still semi-hard cock against her ass.

“You’re fucking gorgeous, Kate. And I’ve thought so for a long time. I’ve stroked myself to you and came so hard I saw stars thinking about your ass bent over or your tits on display in a swimming suit. Not to mention your perfect mouth wrapped around my dick. And on top of all that, you’re this brave, insanely intelligent, and wise woman who doesn’t take shit from anyone. You could’ve slept with your boss and kept your job, but you didn’t. You stood up for yourself. And if you think he’s going to get away with it, he’s got another think coming.”

She shook her head back and forth. “Don’t, Sam. It’s over. There’s nothing to be done about it. I don’t want to think about him anymore.”

I kissed the nape of her neck. “I just want you to be happy and I don’t want you to doubt yourself or how incredible you are. You’re gorgeous too. And as soon as we figure out what’s going on between us, I plan to fully show you in every way I can imagine.”

Her body trembled against mine. I wanted to wrap her up in my arms and carry her out of there and spend the rest of the night worshipping her body.

“You trying to keep me from taking my shot?” she breathed.

I chuckled and stepped back. “Of course not. It’s all yours.”

Kate relaxed as we settled into our evening. She enjoyed the food I ordered for us and let me kiss and touch her throughout the evening. I kept checking in with her, but every time I tried to talk about us, she’d change the subject. I didn’t know how to get her to stop trying to squirm out of the idea of being with me. I could tell she liked me. I couldn’t understand how I didn’t see it before. We’d clearly both been fooling ourselves.

It was close to time to get back to the ball. I wasn’t sure what the point of going back was, not when I had the woman of my dreams panty-less and in my arms. But it was in the contract to be a bachelor.

Kate was quiet on the ride back. I had no idea what she was thinking.

I could still smell her arousal in the car, and I wondered if we’d ever get back to the same hot and heavy. She’d been more reserved and harder to read the closer we got to leaving the bowling alley.

The ball was still in full swing. The music was loud, and the dance floor was full. I took Kate’s hand in my and laced our fingers together.

Maisie approached us, with Sean in tow. “Hey, you two.” Her eyes dropped to where we were holding hands.

Kate pulled her hand out of mine. “Hey, Maze,” she said. “Hi, Sean. Glad you showed up to keep this one out of trouble.”

“Sam, I heard your dream date was to take a girl bowling?” Sean asked.

“It was a good date,” Kate said. “Great, in fact. I’m glad I bid on it.”

I glanced down at her, but her eyes immediately darted away from me.

She dropped my hand. “I’ll be right back.” She disappeared into the crowd before I could say anything.

  “Is she okay?” Maisie asked.

“I have no idea. We were having a good time and then she got quiet and shut down on me.”

Maisie raised an eyebrow. “How good of a time?”

I could feel the heat in my face.

Sean sighed. “Fucking hell, I was wondering how long it was going to take the two of you to get the fuck on with it.”

Maisie grinned and clapped her hands. “You hooked up?”

“Why are you happy about this? Shouldn’t you be appalled?” I asked.

She rolled her eyes. “Are you kidding me? The two of you have been dancing around each other forever. I was considering trying to find a way to lock you away for a long weekend with rations and water so you’d figure it out.”

I blinked at her. “What?” I shook my head. “I need to figure out why she’s upset with me.”

“Sometimes Kate forgets that she deserves good things especially after what happened in New York,” Maisie said. “Her parents were shit and didn’t treat her well. She’s overcome a lot, but I think she really doesn’t trust anything good anymore.”

“Well, fuck that.” I immediately started working my way through the crowd in the direction Kate headed hoping I would find her sooner than later. I didn’t want her questioning things because she didn’t think she deserved them.

I spotted her coming out of the bathroom and then I was intercepted and assaulted all at once. Someone was kissing me, and their hand was on my dick and fake boobs were jabbing me in the chest. I grabbed shoulders and pushed back hard. Once she was off me, I stepped back and made sure we weren’t within arm’s reach of each other.

I wiped my mouth off. “What the fuck, Lana?”

“I thought we could end our night together better than it started. I’m sure your date was horrible. How could it not be with that cow? And me? Oh my god, I’ve suffered enough tonight. My date was such a bore. The roses weren’t even red. They were white. Who buys white roses for a date? Honestly, what an amateur. I thought for sure it was your date I was bidding on. How could you do something as mundane as bowling?”

How the fuck could I have managed one fucking night with this woman let alone months? Man, I was stupid. I had no business trying to be with anyone but Kate. She was who I wanted to be with. She was the one I’d always pictured myself with.

I glanced behind Lana and saw no sign of Kate. Fuck. She’d probably seen Lana attack me. This wasn’t good. It didn’t matter how much I told her it didn’t mean anything to me…would she even hear me out?

  Kate

I couldn’t get out of my head. Sam took my hand and it felt so right I wanted to cry right then and there with Maisie and Sean watching us. I got out of there as quickly as I could, needing to remember how to breathe. I didn’t like being out of control. It was what I liked about cooking; I had all the control. But even then, I’d been fooling myself. Control was a joke.

I made my way to the restroom, not looking back at Sam but feeling his eyes on me until I disappeared into the crowd.

The restroom was surprisingly empty. I headed into the stall and sat down on the toilet and covered my face trying to get a grip. The events of the evening blurred through my mind. The way that Sam looked at me, even before the ball. When I showed up on the doorstep and he was just in a towel. And even before today, we’d always had the chemistry and I’d always noticed him. And he said he’d always noticed me.

But did I really want to be with him? What crazy kind of plans did Cupid have for us? Why tonight? Why now when I was at the lowest point of my life and he was at one of his highest?

“Ugh!” I was even frustrating the fuck out of myself now. Why was I making this so hard? Sam wasn’t the asshole in New York. He didn’t deserve my insecurities because I didn’t know what to do with myself professionally, vocationally, and locational-ly. I’d never made a decision in my life for love, it had all been for my career. And where had that gotten me?

I left the stall and washed my hands and checked myself in the mirror. I blinked at my reflection. I looked like a rumpled sex kitten. I smiled. I let myself feel sexy around Sam. I let our chemistry soak in and take over and it felt amazing. We knew so much about each other already. Dating him, being with him, fucking him held all sorts of promise. And what fun it would be finding all the ways we could connect. He was a great guy. And Maisie was my best friend. It was a dream scenario to really be Maisie’s sister.

Whoa! Marriage might be jumping the gun a little bit, but I still liked the idea.

  I fluffed my hair
and headed back out to lay a big kiss on Sam and beg him to take me home. My home, so we wouldn’t have to worry about being loud.

I sauntered out of the ladies’ room just in time to see Sam headed right for me. And then a blonde bombshell pounced on him. I saw red.

Lana Krank did not deserve Sam. And she didn’t deserve to kiss him. Sam pushed her back. And then I saw Lana droning on about something and Sam was looking for me again. I approached quickly ready to put my foot down.

Lana’s shrill voice filtered through the noise of the ball. “How could it not be with that cow? And me? Oh my god, I’ve suffered enough tonight. My date was such a bore. The roses weren’t even red. They were white. Who buys white roses for a date? Honestly, what an amateur. I thought for sure it was your date I was bidding on. How could you do something as mundane as bowling?”

I stormed toward them and I stepped in between them and shoved her back another step, tempted to break that reconstructed nose of hers.

“I may be a cow, but we had a great time tonight.” I stepped back, happy to feel his hands land on my hips. “So much I came in the back seat of his car. And if you don’t mind, it’s my turn to make sure he gets off.”

  Lana’s mouth dropped open.

“You should do some soul searching, Lana. I’m sure there’s a guy out there for you, but you really need to find a way to be happy without status and money. You’re better than that,” I said.

  Lana blinked at me.

“You deserve happiness, Lana. I hope you find it. Have a good night.” I turned around and Sam’s arms encircled me. “Will you take me home?” I murmured to him.

His mouth claimed mine before I could say anything else. I kissed him back with the same fervor. He grabbed my hand and led me out of the ballroom.

“What the hell was that all about?” he asked once we were back in his car.

  “Which part?”

“From you running away from me to you taking on Lana.”

I shrugged. “I decided I didn’t want to deny myself something because I thought I didn’t deserve it.”
