Hearing the door slam he looked around the girl on his face and simple held up his left hand holding another dildo, silently telling me to come join them, then went back to licking the girl as if I wasn’t there. After she screamed through an orgasm in front of me she simply looked at me and said “I bet you taste like honey. I’d love to lick you as he shoves that dildo in you.”
A week later and a hotel bill I barely had enough money to pay, I had my Durango and a U-haul packed and I was headed back to Long Island. Here I was Maggie Hemsworth, twenty-eight years old and slinking back to my parent’s house with my tail between my legs.
Mom was waiting at the door with a bottle of vodka in her hand stretched out for me. After drowning myself in half the bottle my mother did the most motherly thing possible, she held me as I cried. She had never done that before and I made sure I cried a few extra tears just so she could hold onto me for a little longer.
A week after that I had to bury my mother. I woke up one morning to find her dead on the bathroom floor. Cirrhosis of the liver had taken her life. She never saw a doctor for it. She was never diagnosed. Just drank herself till she finally died. Finally being with my father again like she always wanted all these years.
It’s now a month later, I have finally decided to pull myself together and decided it was time to get a job. Looking online I found an ad looking for part time home health care aide. Finally deciding to put my degree to work I called the number in the ad and made an appointment for an interview for tomorrow.
I dug out my best outfit and pressed out the creases it had from being folded in a box for over a month. I walked down the street and got a haircut. After eating half a pizza by myself I showered and was in bed before the eleven o’clock news.
How sad is my life.
Laying in bed by myself tears slid down my cheeks. I was alone again, just like I was ten years ago when I left this house. All my friends were on the other side of the country. My boyfriend –well ex-boyfriend now- laughed at me and told me that if maybe I had been a little sluttier he wouldn’t have had to cheat on me.
I honestly didn’t see anything wrong with our sex life. We had pretty hot sex almost every night and not once did he ever complain or ask for more. Hell I probably would have given him more if he asked.
When the alarm went off the next morning I drug my ass out of bed. Lacing my running shoes up I headed out for a run around the block, before leaving I set the century old coffee pot to brew. Twenty minutes later I was toeing off my running shoes as I headed toward the kitchen. Filling my coffee mug I took a sip and leaned my hips against the counter.
I looked down at my mug and scowled. Landon gave me this mug. It used to be my favorite mug, but now, now I want to throw up just looking at it. It’s a hideous shade of pink with the inscription ‘You’re everything a girlfriend should be…cute…thoughtful…beautiful…great to be with…and best of all…MINE’. I chucked it against the wall shattering it into pieces, the coffee staining the wall and floor.
“Enough of this sulking. He was an asshole. Time to move on. First step nail this job interview,” I said to myself as I made my way down the hall and into the shower.

“Hi, Maggie Hemsworth to see Ms. Sarah Starr in apartment 8801,” I said to the man sitting behind the reception desk in the lobby of a building overlooking Central Park. He picked up the house phone and pressed a few buttons. I took a moment to look around. The building is huge. Three elevators sit to the left of the lobby against a marble wall. The other three walls are floor to ceiling glass with not a fingerprint smudge in sight. In the center of the room is a huge mahogany table with an equally huge bouquet of flowers in it. The sweet smell they are producing can be smelt throughout the lobby.
“Go on up ma’am. Ms. Starr is expecting you. Use elevator three,” he said to me as he pointed toward the third elevator.
This short spitfire of a woman answered the door only seconds after I rang it. She introduced herself as Sarah Starr and quickly led me to the dining room. We walked so fast I wasn’t able to take in my surroundings. But hot damn the dining room table was huge.
And wow the guy sitting at the table was smoking hot. “Zane Summers,” Ms. Starr said waving an arm at the young man while taking a seat at the head of the table. Zane looked like he could easily be 6’5” and was well built. He had a chiseled jaw with a five o’clock shadow even though it was only ten in the morning. He had eyes that can only be described as emerald green. He was in a well tailored three piece suit and was dressed like a lawyer of some sort but his muscles and broad shoulders made it seem like he could be a body guard.
I shook his hand as I took the seat across from him, “Maggie Hemsworth,” I said.
“So let’s begin,” Ms. Starr started. “I see you education has taken you all the way to a doctorate degree which is wonderful but it won’t entirely be necessary in this case. Let me go over the job a little bit and then you can still decide if you would like to take it.”
“I thought this was a job for home health aide?” I asked a little confused.
“It is, but it’s not so much a medical need that you would be needed for. Mr. Jensen has broken his leg and is in a cast that makes him immobile. Besides that his health is wonderful. You will be the night aide and would need to be here Sunday night thru Friday morning. Your hours will be six pm till seven-thirty am. The latest you would need to stay is eight if I were to be caught in bad traffic. You will have a bedroom and are allowed to sleep, however you will need to be able to hear your phone in case Mr. Jensen will need your assistance with help in the middle of the night. Is this all clear so far?”
Nodding my head, I agreed. “Will I have any other duties?”
“You will need to clean up from dinner. I will prepare it before I leave each night. You will need to help Mr. Jensen get into bed every night. You will not need to help with bathing or changing of his clothes.” She emphasized not as in if I did it I would be in trouble.
“What about making breakfast and getting Mr. Jensen out of bed in the morning?”
“As long as I am on time you will not need to do either,” she said with a stern voice.
This was beginning to sound like a job I could really deal with. However I did love to cook. But the little ball of spitfire in front of me seemed very protective over this Mr. Jensen and therefore not to be messed with. Whatever her rules were, I had to follow them. Somehow I also figured whatever the salary was it wouldn’t matter what the rules were it would be worth it. However, I also wondered what Mr. Summers job was; he had not said a word this whole time.
Sliding a piece of paper across the table to me Ms. Starr said, “This will be your salary. There are three different ways you could be paid. You can take it month by month or half up front and half at end of the four months you will be employed or take it all up front at once. However if you do choose to take one of the last two options and do not make it to the end of the term you will need to pay that money back.”
Holy Fuck! Am I reading this correctly? No way could this be the correct amount. For four months the pay was $30,000. My eyes bugged out of my head and my mouth suddenly went dry. This was almost as much as I could have made working for a hospital or doctor’s office.
“Is this the correct amount?” I whispered almost afraid to ask incase it wasn’t and it would quickly be changed.
Ms. Starr laughed, “I had the same reaction when I was hired. But yes, it is the correct amount. Mr. Jensen is very generous. This should be one of the easiest jobs you’ll ever have. I mean you’ll actually be paid to sleep. Who wouldn’t love that job?” She giggled at herself.
I stared at the paper for a minute longer, “Is there anything else I need to know?”
Ms. Starr slid another piece of paper across the table at me. In big black bold letter it said ‘Non Disclosure Agreement.’ I was starting to wonder who this Mr. Jensen was. I was obviously sitting in a multi-million dollar apartment, a salary to die f
or and now I needed to sign a piece of paper.
“Mr. Summers will go over all the details in a moment but you will be required to sign this in order to be given the job. Because of Mr. Jensen’s status it is the utmost importance that his privacy be kept just that, private. You will have his personal cell phone number and that must be kept a secret, along with other aspects of his life that you will have access to. If this is all something that you could live with, I would like to offer you the job.” Her phone buzzed and she checked the message, “If you’ll excuse me for a few minutes please, look over the NDA and Mr. Summers can answer any questions you have about it. I will be happy to answer any questions when I come back.”
As she got up and scurried out of the room I looked down at the NDA. I had signed one of these back in Vegas when during clinical rotation for school, a famous person had come into the hospital and everyone had to sign a NDA to keep what was going on a secret.
Looking at this one it looked the same. The wording seemed all the same and I had no doubt in my mind that I would sign this. “I have signed one of these before. It looks to be the same. It’s all standard legal stuff right? There’s nothing fancy thrown in there?” I asked Mr. Summers.
“No, nothing fancy,” he smiled a megawatt smile at me. His white teeth were all in a straight row, like sailors in uniform standing on the deck of a ship as they came into the city for fleet week each May. “It’s all basic. If you’ve signed one before then this one would probably be no different. Mr. Jensen values his privacy and expects all his employees to value it to, we all have had to sign one.”
Just as I was about to sign the NDA I heard Ms. Starr burst out laughing and the unmistakable squeak of a wheelchair being wheeled toward us. Mr. Summers stood up and walked around the table to meet Ms. Starr and who I presumed was Mr. Jensen in the wheelchair. I stood up to turn around to meet him.
As I spun around I finally saw who Mr. Jensen was. And holy shit it was Decker Jensen of the New York Yankees. Now I understood why the spitfire is so protective and why the NDA was needed. He was even more beautiful in real life.
I shook his hand as Ms. Starr wheeled him over to the table. She positioned him in between her and Mr. Summers, another protective move. This was not a man to mess with or this woman would be all over you like flies on shit.
“So I hear you’re going to be taking over the night shift,” Decker said his voice smooth like butter.
He had the most gorgeous hazel-green eyes. He was tall and muscular, even sitting in the wheelchair you could tell he was powerful. His brown hair was shaven close to his scalp. And his smile, wow his smile was wonderful.
“Yes if that’s ok with you and Ms. Starr,” I smiled back at him.
“It sounds perfect, my mother’s been staying with me and I’m about to lock her out one day. She is driving me insane,” he smiled with a small chuckle. “There’s just one rule I’ll ask you to follow besides the NDA of course. You will not address me as Mr. Jensen or her as Ms. Starr. We are Decker and Sarah. Everyone here is on a first name basis.” He smiled at me and it melted a layer of that icy buildup around my heart that has been present since Landon broke my heart a few months ago. Then his smile became bigger as he looked at Ms. Starr.
Oh that’s one heart stopping smile he just gave her.
“We would like you to start tonight if that is good with you,” Ms. Starr…wait…Sarah said smiling back at Decker. The look that passed between the two of them made me wonder if there was something more between them.
“That is perfect,” I said not wanting to pass up this job for anything.
“Good. Come I’ll show you to the room you’ll be staying in and around the apartment,” Sarah said as she stood up to show me around. She kissed Decker on the forehead and told him she would make him lunch after she shows me around. There was a twinkle in his eyes and his arm twitched as if he was holding himself back from wrapping his arms around her, as her lips touched his forehead and I knew this man was crazy about the spitfire next to him.
Walking down the hallway on the right side of the apartment she pointed to the first door and said it was the office and then to the last door and said it was Decker’s room. She opened the middle door and stepped aside to let me through.
Holy crap, the room was as big as my apartment was back in Vegas. The bed was king sized and I bet the sheets are Egyptian cotton and top of the line softness. There was an open door on the right side of the bed that led to a huge walk in closet. Another door on the left side led to a bathroom. The tub could probably fit five people and the shower a whole lot more.
“You can keep whatever you would like in the closet and bathroom. We are also in the process of hiring a weekend aide. You would share this room with her,” Sarah said as I walked in a circle in the bathroom.
“How long have you been with Decker?” I asked. Wording it so it could be taken either as an employment or to see if there’s more to their relationship.
“I started working for him three weeks ago yesterday,” she said with a shy smile.
Anyone could see that she was madly in love with Decker. The way her face lit up whenever his name was mentioned or she talked about him. However, I wondered if she knew she was in love with him. The way she answered it was obvious they weren’t a couple. But I wondered how much she wanted to be one.
She showed me around the rest of the place. It included two more bedrooms, one down the other hall and a staff room off the kitchen. The pantry in the kitchen was bigger than the bathroom at my parents. There was a half bath near the front door. The living room had an L shaped couch looking toward a seventy-one inch TV hung on the wall. The view out the windows was spectacular, even with the trees having no leaves the view of Central Park was breath taking. Off of the living room was a game room with a pool table and a poker table near the window. Beyond that was the dining room we were just in.
Zane had helped Decker onto the couch and they were debating over some sports thing on ESPN. I had said my goodbyes and told Decker I would see him later that night. Sarah escorted me down to the security office in the lobby. There I received a key for the garage, an elevator key, a key to the apartment and my name was added to the list of permanent visitors.
“I’ll see you by six,” Sarah said. “If you want to come earlier to get to know the apartment and Decker you can. I always make plenty of dinner.”

I drove back out to Long Island upon unlocking my mother’s door was met by sadness. I never thought of this as a home. I was miserable growing up here and every time I returned home for a visit it was even worse. But now this is where I lived.
I had no friends out here. I didn’t even know most of the neighbors. I had no one. I had nothing. I was beginning to think I should sell my mother’s house and find an apartment in the city. I did know my first step, as of right now I needed to start to clean this house of my mother’s belongings.
I found some empty boxes in the garage, grabbed the box of garbage bags from under the sink in the kitchen and went to mom’s room. Opening her closet door I froze. I think I just stood there mouth agape for probably a good half an hour.
Finally I drew in a shaky breath and a tear slid down my cheek. All my father’s clothes still hung on their hangers. His shoes still lined up on the floor. Sweaters still folded and stacked on the shelf. It was like she was waiting for him to walk in the door. I didn’t even need to look in the dresser to know his underwear and socks still sat in his draws. Or that his ties would be rolled up and separated in that divider thing in the drawer.
Grabbing a box I walked into the closet and started tossing his shoes into the box. When I was done with his shoes I made my way to the other side and started tossing my mothers in there to. As I came across pairs I liked I put them off to the side to keep. Filling two boxes just full of shoes, I piled them in the hallway as I went along.
Belts, ties, scarves and clothes started piling up in other boxes. Leaving things I thought I w
ould like. My mother had some awesome vintage clothes from the seventies and eighties. Some items were too tattered and filled the garbage bags.
Checking the time I saw it was quarter to four. I quickly went to my room and shoved some things into a suitcase to take and keep at Decker’s apartment for the nights I spent there, then headed out to the Durango to go to my new job.
Just as I closed the back of my car I heard my name. I thought I was hearing things since I didn’t know anyone, but turned to see who was calling me. On the sidewalk was a vision that could make any girl melt, but, made me cringe.
Jacob Williams stood there all man and jackass in one. He was my only friend for years and my first kiss when we were thirteen. Then he became one of my many bullies and our friendship was officially over.
The day before I was suppose to leave for Vegas he caught me loading suitcases into my car. He apologized for being an ass and said it was all because of peer pressure. Like an idiot I forgave him and we spent the day together. Then I gave him my virginity. He left my house with the promise of coming to see me off in the morning.
Two hours later I walked into the local Italian restaurant for some takeout and there he was with sitting with his football buddies laughing at something on his cell phone. When I sneezed he noticed me, the look on his face was hard to decipher, it was a cross between pitty and triumph, than his buddies looked up and started laughing.
One of his buddies stood up and strolled over as I grabbed my food off the counter. Leaning in his lips almost touching my ear he said, “I lost out on a hundred dollars because you let Jacob fuck you but when I tried talking to you yesterday you held pepper spray to my face. How does it feel to be used like a slut?”
I didn’t even wait for the morning. I threw my takeout on the front seat and left for Vegas right then, with tears sliding down my face. No goodbyes for my mother or Grandmother.
