What if I let them stay on the surface?
We would be invincible…
But they would soon want to level, which meant that they would want 1,000 girlfriends. Within weeks they would reach level 100, and from there, they would have the ability to level 60 times in a month. Then they would break from me and ravish the world. The programmers would most likely be forced to delete them, and I didn’t want that to happen.
No, it was better that they return.
Until I could find a way, however, I did feel a deep sense of security having them around. No one would fuck with us while they were here, so I decided that I might as well enjoy it.
I waved at some of the villagers who had spotted me on the balcony, then joined my guild mates in the study.
“Do I smell popcorn?” I asked happily.
“Shhh!” Kit hissed and pointed to the looking glass.
Everyone was on the edge of their seats, and I looked at the screen as Cecilia turned up the volume. It was the wizard Donavan who had been an announcer during the Guild Wars Tournament.
…the demon horde cannot be tolerated. If left unchecked, they and their masters will conquer every realm in Rebirth Online. But alas, the programmers, the gods who have created this world, cannot intervene. So, we turn to you, citizens of Rebirth. If you are to save this world that you have come to love, then it falls upon you to defend it.
“Is he talking about what I think he’s talking about?” I asked the group.
Kit turned to me and nodded with tears spilling out of her eyes.
“This is fucking bullshit!” said Trinity.
“Shhh!” said Cecilia, “He’s not done.”
The programmers cannot intervene, but that doesn’t mean that we cannot put a bounty on every golden demon’s head.
“Oh shit…” I said under my breath.
Therefore, any player or guild who kills one of the golden demons will receive one-million gold!
“Double shit,” I said.
As for their master, the Demon Lord Samson and his guild, well, if they want to rule the creatures of the Underworld, then kill them until they are level zero, and send them back where they belong! The guild who does that shall inherit not only their kingdom, but also their powers. And if you have reservations about Sam Sullivan’s motives, I give you this.
The image changed to one of me from earlier, when I was speaking to my sons.
Yes, my sons, when the time is right, we shall extend our rule across the entire world. We shall enslave every race, and we shall rule as god kings for all time.
“Triple shit,” I said with a sigh.
“This isn’t good,” Tweak said as he paced in front of the looking glass.
“Get out of the way!” I yelled and moved closer. On the screen was an image of me looking pretty damn evil as I summoned my demon children.
“We’re screwed!” Tweak pressed.
“No, we’re screwed with a double-headed dildo!” said Stormy.
“Everybody chill the fuck out!” said Cecilia.
“How?” Tweak asked. “This is serious shit. Jesus, the programmers just put a goddamned bounty on our heads.”
“Calm down,” said Ember.
“Shut up!” I screamed, and everyone stopped talking and looked to me with concern.
I paced back and forth, trying to figure out how to get out of this one. What the hell was the problem with the programmers? I had saved the fucking game more than once, and this was the thanks that I got? Besides that, it was their stupid fucking update that allowed Megulla to get pregnant in the first place.
“You know what? If they want a dark lord, I’ll fucking give it to them,” I growled.
“You can’t be serious,” said Kit.
“Why not? After everything we’ve done for their sorry asses, they treat us like this? Send us back to where we belong, really? I tell you what, I don’t care if it’s a guild, or the god damned programmers themselves. If they come after us, we’re going to kill them all.”
“Damn you’re sexy,” said Nanaya as her pointed tail slowly wagged behind her.
“No, I’m dead serious,” I told them all. “This means war.”
