Jessica looked down at their sleeping pups. She still can’t believe that Madison shifted. It’s wild how Madison is white. She had thought if anything she would be brown like Alexander, and Michael.

“They’re beautiful, aren’t they?” Jessica commented. “How is she white?”

“She looks like an arctic wolf.” Alexander said. “Aren’t your parents from Alaska?”

“My dad is. My mom is from the states.” Jessica stated.

“Maybe that’s where then.” Alexander suggested.

It makes sense, she thought. Either way, they are beautiful no matter their color. They laid there for a few more minutes, petting the little ones. Their fingers touch gently in passing. She would catch him looking at her and smiling. Time was spent in silence, but not a bit awkward. With each passing caress, his hand would linger longer over hers. She doesn’t mind, his touch had her longing for more. After another pass, he intertwined his fingers with hers. Her heart sped up.

“So, what are you doing tomorrow?” He asked.

She had planned on returning to work on Saturday, but right now she isn’t even sure she wants to go back. Things have changed in the last twenty-four hours; knowing that there are people out there that are stealing shifters doesn’t sit well with her. If it wasn’t for Alexander, and the pack then she wouldn’t have gotten Michael back. She had thought that he would be safer away from the pack, and away from the mountains. Now she believes it might be the safest place for them.

“I have a few things to do.”

“What time are you leaving to go back home?” He asked sadly.

“I don’t know. I have to find one first.” She gave him a hint. She knew the moment he caught on because his eyes widened in surprise.

“You’re staying?” He asked looking excited. “They’re staying?”

“Well, I wouldn’t go anywhere without them.” She said jokingly. “I have some things that I will need to work out back home. Once I find a place here, and a job, then we will move out here.”

The biggest smile spread across his face. She could tell he’s happy but she didn’t expect for him to lean over and kiss her lips quickly. She smiled knowing that he was just caught up in the moment. She liked seeing him happy.

“You know there is a wildlife reserve that’s looking for a veterinarian.” He informed her. “They would be lucky to have you.”

  “That sounds interesting.” She commented.

“I would be lucky to have you.” He raised her hands to his lips, and pressed a kiss to the back of her hand.

  “You would?” She asked smiling.

“You’re what has been missing these last few years.” He held her hand in his. “You’re my missing mate.” He leaned forward, and kissed her again. This time she kissed him back.

  Epilogue

The next morning Jessica woke up in an empty bed. Where the hell are her children? She wondered. She wanted to make sure her children are safe before she does anything else. Walking out of the bedroom she heard the backdoor open and close a few seconds later. When she came into the living room that’s when she saw her children are still wolves.

“They didn’t want to shift back.” Alexander explained walking into the kitchen. “I just let them outside to use the bathroom.”

Is this how it’s going to be now? Jessica doesn’t want them to be running around as wolves all the time. Besides she hasn’t been able to properly hug her children since yesterday. She will have to come up with her own tricks to make them shift back. Bribery works she has already tested that theory.

“Will you two shift for me?” She asked them nicely. “I really want a big hug from both of you.”

She had thought that would work, instead they ran over to her and started jumping up and licking on her. Not exactly what she had in mind.

“Well, it’s breakfast time. I guess I will have to open up a can of dog food.” She looked at the twins.

They backed up and growled out. They weren’t happy but they started towards their room. Jessica and Alexander followed them. She wanted to make sure they didn’t disturb their guests.

“That was mean.” Alexander commented nudging her shoulder.

“They are going to shift aren’t they?” Jessica looked at him with a smile. “I have a rule. No one is allowed to eat at the table while they are a wolf.”

She had never imagined saying that before. It’s strange but after last night she doesn’t feel so panicked about the children being shifters.

The twins are sitting outside their bedroom door by the time she and Alexander get there. Alexander opened the door for her. She had expected two patients to be laying on the beds but one was empty. Makenna was sitting on the bed next to Liam. Max was gone. Now that she thinks about it, Nadine wasn’t in the living room either.

“Where’s Nadine and Max?” She asks Makenna.

“Max wanted to get back to his family. He doesn’t know if they are in danger or not so he’s going to take them into hiding for a little while.” Makenna starts explaining. “Sebastian took Max and Nadine to rent a car. He will be back later.”

“Oh, I was hoping to get a chance to thank them properly.” Jessica mentioned.

“I think getting her out of there was thanks enough.” Alexander told her placing a hand on her shoulder. “Let’s get these little ones some clothes.”

“Let me check on Liam real quick. The clothes are in the dresser if you want to grab them each a set.” Jessica said while moving closer to the bed to see Liam.

“How is he?” She asked moving to stand in front of Makenna.

“He’s doing well.” She answered. “You did a great job on him. If he would have lost any more blood I imagine he would have never made it home.”

“I wasn’t sure if he was going to be alright. Logan just told me to fix the bleeding.”

Jessica doesn’t know how in the world he made it without going to the hospital for more blood. He had lost a lot of blood in that empty lot. He shouldn’t even be here.

“Thank you.” Liam said in a low dry voice.

“You’re welcome but you shouldn’t be talking right now.” Jessica says as Makenna gave him some water. “Thank you for saving me. There’s no way I would have lived if it had been me.”

Liam looked passed her to Alexander and gave a slight nod. Jessica wasn’t sure why but Alexander seemed to as he walked over and shook Liam’s hand. Jessica is glad he will be okay. She grabbed the clothes Alexander had put on the dresser, and headed to her room with the twins following behind her.

“What was that about?” Jessica asked when Alexander came into the bedroom.

“Nothing,” he replied and picked up a set of clothes. Walking to the other side of the bed, he sat down and waited for Michael.

“It seemed like more than nothing.” Jessica waited for Madison to shift so she can get her dressed. Michael shifted on the other side of the bed where Alexander was.

“Liam knows you are my mate. He saved you for me.” Alexander explained.

  “How does he know that?”

“Everyone knows, shifters can tell these things.” He replied.

Madison sat on the floor putting on her clothes. Jessica walked over to Alexander and wrapped her arms around his neck.

“We will have to see how this mate thing goes.” She said

“Baby, it goes forever. I will love you until the end of time.” Alexander wrapped her up in his arms and pulled her into his lap.

She placed her hand on his cheek, and gazed into his eyes. Oh yeah, she can handle forever with this man. She leaned forward to kiss him. He pulled her down on the bed and the twins laughed and giggled their approval.
