His Two Alphas

Page 42

by Anna Wineheart

Lenna tottered forward in her pale yellow suit. The three rings had been pinned to her tie, glittering in the sunlight.

Toward the middle of the aisle, Lenna tripped.

The crowd gasped. But Lenna picked herself up, and when Kai crouched with his arms outstretched, Lenna beamed, crossing the remaining distance so she could toddle into his embrace. Kai grinned and lifted her up. Spike kissed Lenna’s cheek, ruffling her hair.

  The guests sighed.

Kai handed Lenna over to their mom; Natalie brought Lenna to a front-row seat, and the audience quietened.

Spike and Kai were looking at Micah, their eyes dark, anticipating. Butterflies filled Micah’s stomach.

“Ready?” York asked, holding his elbow out.

“I’ve been ready a long time,” Micah said, his heart thumping. He was nervous. Everyone was watching him, and he wasn’t used to being at the center of attention, not like this. But he was surrounded by friends and family, and he was no longer so self-conscious about his hobble anymore.

They set off down the aisle, Micah and his son. It felt like a chapter of Micah’s life was closing.

“Look at you,” Micah murmured. “All grown up, walking me down the aisle. You were just a tiny bundle when I first met you.”

York slanted a look at him. “You’re one to talk, getting married and everything.”

“I’d walk you down the aisle, you know,” Micah said. “Whenever you’re ready.”

“Not like I’ll ever get married,” York muttered, looking away. But he was still smiling, and he patted Micah’s hand.

“Maybe one day,” Micah answered. “You’ll find the person that’s just right for you.”

York shrugged, but Micah could tell that his son didn’t believe him.

That was okay, though. Micah hadn’t believed that this would happen to him, either. He glanced up, meeting his alphas’ eyes. Felt almost too naked in his lace shirt and flowing pants, when they raked their gazes down his body, and back up to his eyes.

A long time ago, Micah had dreamed of finding an alpha who would look at him like that. He hadn’t expected to end up with two. But it worked, it felt right. When he paused at the end of the carpet, Kai and Spike took his hands in their warm, callused ones. Micah completely forgot about the audience.

“Hold hands, all three of you,” the minister said.

They formed a circle, Kai and Spike holding hands, too.

“You’re beautiful,” Spike murmured, his gaze filled with warmth. “I’ve been dreaming of this forever. Marrying you and Kai.”

Micah’s heart swelled. “And you’ll get your wish today.”

“I’m the luckiest bastard in the world,” Spike said. “Thanks for taking a chance on me.”

Micah laughed, and Kai squeezed his hand. “Thank you both for taking a chance on me,” Micah said. “Although I think Kai wasn’t prepared at all.”

Kai cleared his throat discreetly. “Yeah, no. I wasn’t. Don’t regret it at all, though.” Then he smiled at Micah, a toe-curling smile, and both Kai and Spike stepped closer to him, their presence a blanket of safety.

“Do you, Micah Davis, take Kai Ventura and Spike Ventura to be your alphas?” the minister asked.

  Micah’s heart thumped. “I do.”

Spike’s smile grew; Kai squeezed Micah’s hand, his lips curving.

“Do you, Spike Ventura, take Micah Davis to be your omega, and Kai Ventura to be your alpha?”

Spike’s breath hitched; his eyes darkened. “Yeah, I do.”

“And will you, Kai Ventura, take Spike Ventura to be your alpha, and Micah Davis to be your omega?”

“I do,” Kai growled, looking from Micah to Spike, his gaze filled with possessiveness and desire. Micah’s chest grew tight. Spike blinked hard.

  “You may exchange your rings.”

Natalie stepped up with the three rings—the engagement rings had doubled up as their wedding bands. Micah gave Kai his hand; Kai slipped the ring onto Micah’s finger, and its weight felt like a promise on his skin.

“Mine,” Kai whispered, stroking Micah’s knuckles. Micah bowed his head for his alpha.

Then Micah took Spike’s hand, pressing the wedding band onto Spike’s finger, the one with sapphire and moonstone on either side of smoky quartz.

  “Alpha,” Micah whispered.

Spike’s entire face lit up. Then he turned to Kai, tracing his thumb over the edge of Kai’s ring. Spike took Kai’s hand, and slipped the ring on.

“Finally mine,” Spike told Kai. “Took you long enough.”

  Kai grinned.

“You may kiss,” the minister said.

Kai and Spike stepped toward Micah, their gazes heavy on his lips. “You first,” Kai growled, squeezing Spike’s hand. “If it weren’t for you...”

Spike closed the distance between himself and Micah, curving his arm around Micah’s back. If it hadn’t been for that fire, Spike wouldn’t have noticed Micah, and fallen in love with him.

So when Spike sealed his lips with Micah’s, soft and sweet, Micah leaned closer. This had been ten years in the making.

“I love you,” Spike whispered, his voice breaking. “Can’t believe you’re mine.”

“Love you, too,” Micah whispered back, finding his feelings reflected in the depths of Spike’s eyes.

Then Kai was there, too, right up against Micah, nuzzling his jaw. So Micah kissed him, slanting his lips to give himself to Kai. Kai devoured his mouth with no care for the audience, and Micah groaned.

  “Mine forever,” Kai growled.

“Yours,” Micah answered, his heart blooming for his alphas.

Then Kai pulled back, and met Spike’s eyes. And in front of Micah, Kai and Spike kissed, rough and biting. Micah’s chest was far too tight to store all their love—Kai’s, Spike’s, and his own.

“I declare the three of you married,” the minister said. The crowd cheered.

Spike and Kai pulled Micah into a hug. Micah hugged them both just as tightly, trusting his future in their hands.

It had been an uphill journey for them to get here. It had been difficult, and they had harbored doubts. But they had overcome their demons. They had found a love that was worth everything in the world.

As Kai and Spike turned him to face their friends and family, and the future ahead, Micah knew that their hearts, combined, would see them through to the happiest times. He couldn’t wait.

Thank you so much for reading His Two Alphas! I’d wanted to write Micah’s story even before I’d written Cole and Levi’s (The Pretense)… The relationship between Kai and Spike took me by surprise - I wasn’t expecting to love them so much! :D

And all the character cameos! I’m so tickled that almost all the previous Meadowfall Men managed to show up in His Two Alphas :D

  Up next:

  Subordi-Mate, which is a 15k/70pg Meadowfall short story (end-May/early-Jun)

Hopefully a Meadowfall bundle (books 1-4) with extra epilogues sometime late-Jun/early-Jul (I will be at EuroPrideCon in Jun 2019, so the bundle might or might not happen on time!)

Perry’s story (that robotics professor!!) in mid-Aug
