The ride home will take the better part of eight hours, so I should make it to Beth’s new home as daylight breaks.

Trying to be quiet when you own a Harley is like attempting to open a bag of chips without making a sound. The sun is peeking up over the mountain, bathing the land in streaks of gold. I turn off the bike and coast as far as it will go down the drive.

The front door to her small, modest home flies open, and Beth, in her nightgown, comes running toward me. I have enough time to open my arms as she slams into me. Tears streak her face as she clutches me, molding her body to mine.

Wrapping my arms tightly around her, I whisper into her hair, “What’s all this?”

  “He’s dead.”

  “Who’s dead, babe?”

Beth tilts her head back, and she looks up at me. “Thank you.”

  “What for?”

  “For killing the bastard.”

I shake my head slightly. “I didn’t kill him, Beth.”

She screws up her face, nods once, and then kisses me lightly on the lips. “Thank you, anyway.”

“Woman, I’m not lying. I didn’t kill him.”

Beth frowns and cocks her head to the side. “You didn’t?”

  “Nope.”

  “But you were there?”

  I nod once.

Beth takes my hand in hers and pulls me toward her new home, our new home.

“I don’t need to know the details, but we did promise each other no secrets.”

As we enter our house, calmness descends over me and a feeling of finally being home. My whole life, I’ve been looking for something. It started with my family, then the Marines, and then the MC, but none of it was right, not until Beth Trent walked into my life. With her, I’ve found my home, my calm in the storm.

Beth drags me through the house to the kitchen, where she pours me a cup of coffee and ushers me to sit. I watch as she moves about the kitchen, her nightgown not hiding anything, and her hair is wild and loose.

“All I need you to be right now is barefoot and pregnant.”

Beth stops what she’s doing and twirls on me. “What?”

“Shit, sorry, babe, I’m tired and didn’t mean to talk out loud.”

Beth puts the eggs in her hands on the kitchen counter and moves to sit on my lap. “I like the sound of that, but there is a problem.”

“You like the sound of that? We haven’t talked much about the future, honey.”

“I moved across the country. You helped bring the man who murdered my dad to justice. Where did you think this was going?”

I shrug, lost for words. My hand moves to twist in her hair and feel the softness of it. “I don’t know. I know, I love you. I know you are what I want, Beth Trent.”

Beth twists, so she’s straddling me, her face softens as she puts her forehead to mine. “You love me?”

  I chuckle. “Yeah.”

  “Okay, then.”

With a frown, I lean back so I can see her face fully. “Okay then, what?”

  “Pregnant doesn’t sound so bad.”

My lips crash into hers as she entwines her hands in my hair, kissing me back. Placing my hands under her ass, I stand and walk her into our bedroom. Beth’s hands explore my body as I sit on the edge of her bed. Suddenly, she breaks away from me and looks out the front window. A sigh of frustration passes her beautiful lips.

  “What?”

  “Your brothers are here.”

“I can’t—” The words die on my lips as the sound of more than one Harley pierces the air. “You have good hearing.”

“I’ve been waiting for you to get home all night.” Beth climbs off me. “You best get out there and welcome them in. I’m going to get dressed.”

  “Sorry, babe.”

“Don’t be. Besides, before you and I think about having kids, we’re missing something.”

  “We are?” I ask, confused.

Beth points at her ring finger. “Yep. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but it does need to come from you, and you better mean it ‘cause I’m only doing it once.”

Beth grabs some clothes and disappears into the bathroom. I’m still sitting on the bed stunned when there’s a pounding on the front door. Shaking myself back to reality, I stride out and open the door.

Kyle’s there, and he takes one look at my face and grabs me by the shoulders. “What happened? Are you okay?”

  “Beth wants to get m-married.”

A grin splits his face, and he barks out a laugh. “She’s a smart one. Too good for you. You should do what she wants before she realizes what a fuck-up you really are.”

Kyle moves past me, followed by Cutter, who lightly punches my arm as he steps with him into the kitchen. From the smirk on Cutter’s face, he heard what I said.

Beth strolls out of the bathroom, hair in a high ponytail, wearing jeans and black tank top. Cutter kisses her on the cheek, and then the fucker smiles at me.

Beth turns and looks at me, quizzically. “Why are you still standing at the door? Are there more people out there?”

I glance out the door and shake my head. “Nope.”

“Well, shut the door and get your ass in the kitchen.”

Laughter from my brother and Cutter filter in from the other room. Beth winks at me and rounds the corner. With a sigh and a shake of my head, I shut the door. When I enter the kitchen, Beth is pouring three cups of coffee.

  “You want one?”

  “Nah, babe, I’m good.”

Kyle accepts the cup from Beth as does Cutter, both smile at her, then Kyle’s face turns serious. “Tell me.” I glance at Beth then back at him. “We both know you’ve either told Beth what happened, or you’re going to tell her. So, spit it out.”

“How’d you know I was back?”

Cutter grins. “I’ve been waiting out by the highway, saw you ride past. Kyle figured you’d go soon, so I’ve been keeping tabs on you. When I saw you come back in before dawn, I rang Kyle, and here we are.” He spreads his hands wide, clearly impressed with himself.

“Riiight,” I say in a bored, drawn-out tone.

“Can you just tell us what happened?” asks Beth as she sits at the table.

I pull out a chair and sit. “The guy shot himself.”

  “Say what,” exclaims Beth.

“Yeah, you’re going to have to elaborate,” says Kyle.

“I turned off the power, broke into his house, roughed him up a little. He offered to pay me off—”

“Can we get to the good part?” asks Beth.

Cutter barks out a laugh. “What she said.”

I lean back in my chair and scrub a hand over my face. “We ended up back in his office. The Senator went for a gun hidden in his desk drawer, he fired, missed me, then he tripped over a chair, fell over, and the gun went off.”

I glance at Kyle, who at first looks stunned, then laughter bubbles up out of his chest. His hand slams into the table, his eyes wide as he laughs. I turn to look at Beth, who’s nodding and clutching her sides as she too laughs. Cutter, in his usual form, is smirking with his eyes twinkling in mischief.

“H-He killed himself? For r-real?” stammers Beth in between chuckles.

  “I told you he did.”

This sets Beth off even worse. “I-I thought you were kidding!”

Kyle stands, slaps me on the arm, and heads for the door, but he’s still laughing. Once he gets to the door, he turns. “This can’t blowback on you, can it?”

  “Nope.”

Kyle chuckles some more then he and Cutter leave.

I turn to stare at Beth, who’s gasping for breath as tears streak down her face. “You okay?”

She nods her head, slowly the laughter subsides, and when she’s almost under control, Beth says, “I’m glad he’s dead, and I’m glad you’re okay.” Her hand comes up and cups the side of my face. “But most of all, it’s behind us now. It’s you and me. I love you, Sean.”

Leaning into her hand, I twist and plant a
kiss on it. “There’s one more thing I need to do.”

Beth’s hand falls away. “What’s that?”

“I need to talk to Sabrina, Buck’s wife. She deserves to know what happened.”

The smile which graced her beautiful face fades as she nods. “Yeah, she does,” whispers Beth. “When do we go?”

  “We?”

  “Team, remember?”

I nod and grin at her. “Right.”

“My horses won’t arrive for three more days…” Beth stands, “… so we’d best get going.” As she goes to move past me, I grab her hand. “Did you mean what you said about getting married?”

“City boy, not sure how they do it here, but my daddy would have tanned my ass if I came home pregnant and not married. He may have warmed to the idea once he saw his grandchild, but I would have disappointed him. So yeah, I meant what I said.”

  “Okay.”

“Okay? Sean, I’m not saying I’m going to marry you.” Beth giggles. “I’m saying I’m not having babies until I’m wed.” Beth heads for the bedroom, leaving me sitting at the table, dumbfounded.

“Wait a minute,” I yell as I go in search of her. “Are you saying you won’t marry me?”

  “Are you asking?”

With my mouth hanging open, I close it only to open it again. “I… I—”

“That’s my answer.” Beth wraps her hands around my neck and goes up on tiptoes and kisses me. “One day. Let’s get to know each other a little more.” Beth moves out of our room and into the guest bedroom. I follow her as she pulls her backpack out of the closet.

“You’re okay with that?” I ask, with my hand rubbing the back of my neck.

“Yes, honey. Now, do I need to pack something nice? Or only jeans and T-shirts?”

Grinning at her, I nod. “Pack something nice. We’ll do dinner somewhere.”

Beth goes back into our bedroom and begins pulling out clothes. I watch her work as I sit on the bed, grateful she recognizes I’m not ready, but she knows I love her.

  Not all women get it.

One thing is for sure—one day I am going to marry this woman.

  Sean

The motel is quiet as I pump in and out of Beth. Her face is a mixture of sleep and lust. It’s my favorite way to wake her. Beth’s body always responds to me even in sleep. Quickening my pace, her pussy convulses around my cock, and I let go, filling her with my seed. The idea of getting her pregnant crosses my mind again, to have her tied to me forever, but I know she wants to do this right, to pay respect to the man who raised her.

The actual piece of paper isn’t important to me.

  Beth belongs to me.

  With me.

But knowing it’s important to her means I’ll give her my last name and hopefully many children.

With my forehead pressed to hers, I whisper, “Good morning.”

Beth giggles. “Best way to wake up.”

“Um, we need to get up and see Sabrina. I told her we’d be there at nine.”

Beth’s eyes fly open. “What time is it?”

  “Eight.”

With a shove at my shoulders, Beth orders, “Get off me! I need to wash my hair, and it takes forever to dry.”

Kissing her once on the lips, I roll off as she makes a run for the bathroom.

“Don’t use all the hot water,” I say and then chuckle.

Beth turns and points at me. “I’m making no promises.”

Glancing at the clock, I decide to give her five minutes before I join her.

Grabbing the remote control, I turn on the television, and it comes to life. Senator Lewis Towell is staring back at me. It’s the only thing the news stations seem to be running—details of his death and all his sordid family details.

They’ve tried to interview me, seeing as I’m the only member of my unit still alive. Leaving town was the smartest thing I could have done. If the press can’t find me, I don’t have to talk to them.

Throwing off the sheet, I stand and stretch out my muscles, then head into the bathroom. The cubicle is small, and I smile thinking about being pressed up against Beth when she’s wet and slippery with soap. My cock comes to attention, and I slide open the door. Beth is rinsing the conditioner out of her hair, her arms raised and entangled in her locks, breasts up and perky. Stepping in, my hands go to her ass, and I pull her into me so she can feel what she does to me.

“City boy, we simply don’t have time.”

  “We can be late.”

Her smile betrays her hidden thoughts, so I turn her, pushing her up against the wall and letting the shower spray wash down my back. Lifting one leg, I tease her with my cock at her entrance. Beth responds by rubbing herself along my length. With a grin, I lift and impale her on my length. A long, loud moan escapes her mouth.

  “You okay?”

“Yeah, city boy, I’m better than okay.”

Beth locks her ankles behind me, and I pound into her, but with the soap and water, it’s an awkward position. I open the door and walk her to the vanity.

Beth smiles up at me. “You having trouble, city boy?”

Thrusting in as far as I can, I smile down at her. Beth arches her neck back, and I suck hard on the pale skin.

  “Not at all, country.”

  “More,” moans Beth.

  “I aim to please.”

Her nails dig into my back, causing me to growl in pleasure as I pound into my country girl. I press on her clit, and that’s enough for Beth to orgasm. Her pussy clenches around my cock as my orgasm sweeps over me.

“Fuck! I love it when we come at the same time.”

“Oh, yeah.” Beth kisses me lightly. “One small problem…” I quirk an eyebrow at her, “… you left the shower going. There’s no more hot water.”

With a loud laugh, I pull out and place her on the floor. “Guess we both need to be quick now.”

“Yeah. Just give me a second to clean up, and then it’s all yours.”

On tiptoes, Beth reaches up and kisses me, her tongue teasing mine.

“You keep that up, and we won’t leave this room,” I warn her.

“We both know you have to see Sabrina.”

Beth pushes me away and heads into the shower cubicle.

  “How is it?”

  “Cold!”

We’re standing on the sidewalk outside Sabrina and Buck’s home. It looks the same as the last time I was here. I’m nervous, not sure what I’m going to say.

Beth grabs my hand and runs her thumb across her knuckles, and it soothes my soul.

“You ready?” I ask, knowing full well she doesn’t have a problem going in.

“I’m looking forward to meeting Sabrina and Buck Junior. I have a couple of stories for her that my dad told me about Buck.”

“Yeah? You never mentioned stories before.”

“A girl has got to have some secrets.”

With a tug on my hand, she leads me toward the front door. I press the doorbell and glance at Beth anxiously. How do I tell Sabrina what she needs to know without divulging too many secrets?

The door opens, and Sabrina has Buck Junior on her hip, a big smile on both their faces. Sabrina falters when she locks eyes with me, but Buck, he reaches out with both hands and instinctively, I reach out to take him from her.

  “Hey, buddy, how’s it going?”

Buck rewards me with a slap to the face and a giggle.

  “Buck!” admonishes Sabrina.

“It’s okay. It’s a friendly slap. And it’s been a while since I came to visit.”

“Ah, Sabrina… this is Beth Trent.”

Sabrina extends her hand. “Hello, Beth, it’s so nice to meet you.”

“And you. My dad was Thomas Trent. He used to talk about Buck a little.”

  “Thank you,” says Sabrina.

I look her in the eyes. “What for?”

  “Towell.”

  “You knew?” asks Beth.

Sabrina nods. “Buck would be proud.”
>
I lean forward to hand Buck Junior back, but Sabrina shakes her head.

  “Come in. I’ll make coffee.”

  “I can’t tell you much.”

  “Semper fi, Marine.” Sabrina smiles.

  “Hoo-rah!”

  Kyle

I’m awake with my eyes closed, lying in bed, thinking about the way things turned out. Sean got lucky in more ways than one. Sure, he fucked up when he killed Lamond, but that sent him to Beth Trent, and that’s where he got lucky. If he’d stayed here, chances are it would have been easier for the Senator to have taken him out. A truck, a car, a fucking oil spill while he was on his bike, and I wouldn’t have thought it was foul play. Things happen when you ride, and sometimes your number is just up.

The alarm on my phones goes off, and I groan. It’s Sunday morning, and it’s my turn to take Annie Farrow to church. My granddad was sweet on her, and it’s something I’ve done since he died.

  “I’ll go,” says Lola.

I crack open an eye and see she’s dressed in black pants and a light pink shirt and is standing next to our bed.

  “What are you doing up?”

“Couldn’t sleep.” Lola leans down and kisses me lightly. “Stay, sleep in. I’ll be back soon.”

  “How’d I get so lucky?”

“Nah, I’m the lucky one. Love you.” Lola kisses my lips and heads for the door.

Smiling, I close my eyes and fall back asleep quickly, and then hours later, I finally crawl out of bed.

There are the usual suspects in the compound this morning. The club whores all smile at me, but they know Lola will beat them senseless if they so much as speak to me, so I try not to lead any of them on. She’s one hell of a woman. It’s been four years of good times, and not a moment of hardship, save for her family.

That mother of hers? Yeah, she’s a piece of work.

Lola recently went home to care for her while she recovered from a mystery illness. Lola didn’t want me to know her mother’s a recovering drug addict, and she was helping her get clean. Again.
