Roomies with Benefits

“So, how’s living with my best friend?” Zach asked finally, staring at Abigail.

Abigail shrugged. “He’s very…clean,” she said finally, pausing in the middle like she wasn’t sure what to say. She glanced at me and then away, her fingers tapping on the stem of her glass.

It got a laugh out of Zach, though. “He must be on his best behavior since you just moved in,” he told her. “I remember living with the guy during college, and it looked like a tornado had gone off in his room!”

“Hey!” I said, even though I couldn’t really be offended. Instead, I laughed. “I’ve changed a bit since college.”

“You have,” Zach acknowledged, nodding his head at me. There was a wicked look in his eyes. “Actually, I’m shocked at the difference. There are three hot girls on the dance floor right now, totally your type, and you’re not chasing them!”

“Are you scoping out girls right next to me?” Mikayla said, but she didn’t seem to really mind.

Zach kissed her soundly on the lips, making up for it.

Abigail looked questioningly over at me, like she thought I might make a beeline for the supposedly hot girls. I was content to stay where I was, my thigh pressed up against hers. Actually, I wanted to touch her more, but I was holding myself back. Her brother was right here, and anyway, with as dirty as my thoughts had become, I didn’t think I should touch her more in public or else things down there might become problematic.

I was already half hard, thinking about how much I’d like to excuse the two of us, take her into a bathroom stall, and just have my way with her. It would be all I could do to tug my pants and her panties out of the way before fucking her, one hand over her mouth to keep her from crying out and giving us away.

Mikayla stood up, and Zach was quick to follow. “I think it’s time we headed home for the night,” she said, and from the look she was giving Zach, I could tell that she was about as turned on as I was, except she got to go home and actually have the person she wanted. I couldn’t do anything about my lust for Abigail.

We said our good-byes, and then we sat there for a minute in the booth, the three of us. Brittany was looking knowingly at Abigail and me. “Don’t the two of you make such a cute couple,” she said, smirking.

Abigail choked on her drink, glancing over at me, her face beet red and guilty. “We’re not a couple,” she said, sounding upset.

Brittany raised an eyebrow. “Jeez, I’m just teasing,” she said, handing Abigail a napkin. But there was something in her eyes that told me she wasn’t really.

I took another sip of my drink, wondering what exactly Brittany thought she knew about Abigail and me. Had Abigail said something to her? Something about liking me maybe? Or could she tell how much I wanted Abigail? Had she noticed how I could barely keep my eyes off the woman the whole night?

“Anyway, I should head out, too,” Brittany said. “I’ll leave you lovebirds in peace.”

“We’re not lovebirds,” Abigail said, scowling at her friend. But then she glanced over at me and started cracking up. “I did ask him to be my fake fiancé, though.”

Brittany snorted. “Figures,” she said. Then she frowned. “Does that mean Jason still isn’t leaving you alone, though? What an asshole.”

“He told me he’s changed,” Abigail said, rolling her eyes to show what she thought about that. “I swear, he’s even more of a dick now than he was when I was dating him.”

“I don’t know,” Brittany said, giggling. “He was kind of a dick while you were dating him, too. You just didn’t realize it.”

“Really?” Abigail asked in surprise. “I mean, he was cheating on me, but I thought you guys liked him.”

“No,” Brittany said, shaking her head.

“Never liked the guy,” I told her, putting my arm on the back of the booth and trying not to drop it onto Abigail’s shoulders like I really wanted to.

“Oh,” Abigail said, frowning. Then she grinned and shrugged. “Well, it’s a good thing I’m with someone better now then! Even if it’s just a fake engagement.” She put her hand on my chest, and I could feel the warmth of it through my shirt.

“I think someone might have had a few too many,” Brittany said, looking amused. “It’s a good thing your brother isn’t here; I don’t know what Zach would have to say about the two of you.”

I ducked my head in chagrin, but Brittany didn’t seem to mind. Instead, she stood up. “All right, I’m heading home. You two have a good night.”

Abigail turned anxiously toward me as her friend left the bar. “Sorry. Was that too obvious?” she asked, and somehow, despite the dim lighting of the bar, all I could notice was how shockingly green her worried eyes looked.

It took me a moment to respond. “I think it was fine,” I told her, clearing my throat. “I don’t think Zach noticed anything.”

“Good,” Abigail said, sighing and slumping back. “He already thinks I’m being so irresponsible.”

“And dating me would be even more irresponsible?” I asked, not sure whether I was amused or annoyed. I’d definitely had one too many drinks. Maybe more than one.

Abigail looked at me with round eyes. “No!” she said quickly. “But we’re not dating, and we’re living together, so wouldn’t sleeping with you be…irresponsible?” She was uncertain, and we were probably both too drunk to be having this conversation.

A moment later, she giggled. “Not that I’m thinking of sleeping with you or anything.”

“You’re not?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at her. “Are you sure?”

“Only because you’re thinking about sleeping with me,” she said. “You’re the one who keeps kissing me.”

I leaned in close so that I could whisper in her ear, my hand resting high on her thigh. “Do you want me to stop?”

I could tell from her full-body shiver that she didn’t.

I stood up. “Come on. We should get home,” I told her, holding out a hand to help her up. She nodded seriously at me, following mutely alongside me.

Back at the apartment, we were barely inside the front door before I was on her, kissing her. It was like there were magnets in our lips, dragging us together. I pushed her back against the wall, needing to press close to her, needing to feel her heat, her desire.

The kiss was sloppy but unhurried. We’d been waiting all night for this, but now it was just the two of us. She clung to the lapels of my jacket while I dropped my hands down to her waist. I was already hard, and I knew she could feel me pressed up against her hip. She gave in to me like it was all she knew how to do, and all the rest of it, all the indecision, melted away. Her brother, our living arrangement—none of that mattered right now. We needed this.

I pulled back for a second, staring down into those bewitchingly green eyes. I remembered what she had said before, about how I was the one who was always kissing her. I wanted to make sure we were on the same page, but based on the look in her eyes, she wanted this just as badly as I did. A slow smile spread across my face, and I bent down to kiss her again. She didn’t stop me.

  Chapter 9

  Abigail

I had never felt like this with anyone before, like if I didn’t continue trading kisses with Ian, I might, like, combust or something. It felt like we must have been building toward this for years now without realizing it. I had been crushing on him, but I hadn’t realized how badly I wanted him. Somehow, I'd managed to push those feelings back for a long time. I couldn’t hold them back anymore.

I hadn’t thought Ian was this into me, either, but from the way his dark eyes fixed on mine from the way he’d been staring at me all night, I could tell he wanted me as much as I wanted him.

As we continued to kiss in the front hall, Ian slid his hands up under my shirt, his fingers hot against my skin. I whimpered at his touch, needing more. My own fingers pushed his jacket off his shoulders and then started fumbling with the buttons of his shirt. I wanted it out of the way now.

  Ian pulled my shirt up
, giving only a cursory look at my bra before peeling that off as well. Immediately, he put his mouth to my breast, nipping at the tender skin there and then lavishing it with his tongue. I arched back against the wall, moaning, glad that his apartment walls were thicker than the ones at my old apartment.

Already, I could feel how wet I was, and I only hoped he wouldn’t stop. He seemed to have no intention of doing so, though. His mouth moved lower, toward my navel, and his fingers quickly divested me of my skirt and panties until I was naked in front of him and blinking with the realization that I had some serious catching up to do.

I tugged on his arm, urging him without words to stand up. Before I could finish with his buttons, though, he had his fingers twisted in mine and was leading me down the hall. I laughed as I stumbled along with him. “Come on, let me get your shirt off at least,” I said.

Ian flashed a grin at me, turning to face me even as he continued walking backward toward his bedroom. Slowly, teasingly, he undid the remaining buttons on his shirt, letting it drop to the floor. I swallowed hard as I looked at him, but he wasn’t finished yet. His fingers worked at his belt, undoing it and letting his pants fall to the floor.

I stumbled into him, so distracted by looking at him that I hadn’t realized how close we were. He caught me easily and drew me into another kiss, this one more tender, less full of flash and fire. He sucked at my lower lip and then dipped his tongue into my mouth, almost like he was exploring me, trying to figure out what would turn me on the most.

At this point, it was moot. I was already so desperately needy that he could slide inside me without any other preparation.

He pushed me toward the bed, stripping off the rest of his clothes before he joined me. “God, you’re incredible,” he said, his voice hushed and full of awe.

I snorted. “You say that to all your girls?” I asked, trying to keep my tone teasing, but there was something serious in it as well. I wasn’t used to seeing this level of passion in a person’s eyes, not when they were staring at me. Ian wanted me, and I wasn’t entirely sure what to do with that.

Ian turned my hand over, kissing my palm. Then he returned to my navel, kissing the soft skin there before moving even farther south until his head was nestled between my legs. He licked my nub, and I couldn’t stop my hips from shifting. I needed more, needed him inside me. Couldn’t he sense that?

He gave me a look, and I could tell in that instant that he was planning on drawing this out and teasing me. His hands caught my hips, his grip almost bruising, and I gasped. Then he proceeded to drive me wild. His tongue played across all my most sensitive spots before plunging into my core. I was trembling by this point, begging to feel him inside me, but all he did was change his grip so that it he had one forearm resting across my hips while the fingers of his other hand pressed insistently inside me.

I clenched around the sweet intrusion, practically sobbing with the need to come. “Please, Ian,” I begged. “Please.”

He withdrew his fingers, and my walls clenched around nothing. I shifted desperately, unable to help it. Meanwhile, he fumbled with a condom, quickly sliding it down his ample length.

Finally, he thrust into me. It was so unexpected that for a moment, I couldn’t breathe. My whole body seized as ecstasy shot through me. He started to move his hips, and I tried my best to meet his thrusts, but it was hard to match his rhythm. I was too distracted by the fire burning inside me.

I was right there on the cusp of coming, but I seemed to hover there for an endless amount of time, clinging to Ian, feeling him all around me and inside me. Then he changed the angle, and with two sharp thrusts, I was spilling through a glorious orgasm.

I couldn’t focus on any one thing—his fingers holding my hips or his teeth nipping at my collarbone or his member throbbing deep inside me. I cried out hoarsely, my voice wrecked as though I’d been screaming for him all night long already. Maybe I had been.

But he wasn’t done with me yet. In one expert move, he flipped us around so that I was on top. For a moment, it was all I could do to hang there over him, leaning into his hands. I flipped my long hair back out of my face, lifting myself just an inch off him before sliding back down. Even that was almost too much, but I wanted it. I wanted it so badly. I bit my lower lip and tried again, whimpering at how deeply I could feel him. He was pushed all the way up into my core.

“That’s it,” Ian said raggedly, his breathing harsh. “Ride me. Come on.” He grabbed my hips, helping me slide up and then back down. When he could tell I had gotten a handle on myself, he slid his hands out to meet mine, holding them tightly, giving me something to leverage myself against.

I rocked against him wildly, barely able to find a rhythm, but he didn’t seem to mind. He was groaning now, spurring me on with quiet words of praise. “That’s it. Just like that. Right there. Right there.”

I put my hands back on my ankles, changing the angle just enough to make me cry out again. I rubbed one hand over my face, feeling totally caught up in the moment, in the sensations of our lust. I knew I was getting close again and felt vaguely embarrassed by how easy I was, even though I knew Ian probably appreciated it. I could tell he wasn’t going to last much longer either.

I took one final look at his incredible body, taking in the lines of his muscles. Then I squeezed my eyes shut and my head fell back. I moaned, long and low, as I climaxed again. This one felt even more drawn out than the first. I felt my walls fluttering around his hot length even as he twitched inside me. I collapsed against him, and his hand tangled in my hair, keeping me close as he thrust into me a couple more times, each thrust deeper than the last.

We both fell lax against the sheets, totally spent. I didn’t think I had ever felt so fucked before. I could barely get my eyes back open, could barely roll off Ian’s chest. He seemed to be in about the same state if his fumbling movements when removing the used condom were any indication.

I knew I should get up and go to my own bed, but I could hardly move. When I did, it was just to rest a hand on Ian’s chest. He hummed contentedly and pulled me a little closer so that I was resting my head against his chest. Slowly, our heartbeats slowed, and we both drifted off to sleep.

  Chapter 10

  Ian

I blinked muzzily as I woke up, feeling better rested and more sated than I had in a while. My arm was still curled around a woman—whoever last night’s fling had been. I started mentally thinking through what I had in the house for breakfast food. I never wanted my one-night stands to get the wrong idea and think this was going to be a dating sort of thing, but I was good about giving them something for the road at least.

I blinked at the blond head beside me, startled out of my breakfast thoughts. Abigail.

The previous night came rushing back. This wasn’t just any one-night stand. I had slept with my roommate, my best friend’s sister, Abigail. I wasn’t sure which of those things was worse.

Not that I didn’t like her. It just made things complicated.

Still, whatever thoughts my mind was thinking, my body couldn’t help but remember the previous night. I hadn’t intended to sleep with her, but I hadn’t been able to stop myself from kissing her, and then I hadn’t been able to stop myself from stripping her down, and then I hadn’t been able to stop myself from leading her into my bedroom and pushing her toward the bed.

I didn’t regret anything we’d done. Fuck, it had been good. Hands down some of the best sex I’d ever had. Something about the way she moved, something about those little noises she made, the expressions of desperation and lust on her face. I just couldn’t get enough of that.

Even now, my dick twitched with interest. I wanted to grind against her, maybe thrust into that warm cavity between the cheeks of her beautiful, rounded ass. But she was sleeping peacefully, and I didn’t want to wake her up.

I slipped out of bed, dragging on some boxers before heading into the kitchen to make coffee. I was perched on the edge of the table, watching coffee dr
ip into the pot, when Abigail wandered out of my room, one of my shirts pulled around her. It was big on her, but she looked adorable like that, and for a second I was tempted to drag her right back to bed.

But I knew better than to do that. As good as last night had been, I didn’t know where Abigail and I stood, and I wasn’t sure I should make this a thing.

“Hey,” she said, running a hand through her hair.

“Morning,” I said. “Coffee’s almost ready, and I was thinking of making some pancakes.”

“That’d be nice,” Abigail said. She paused. “Sorry about falling asleep in your bed. I meant to move to my own, but I guess I just didn’t have the energy.” She gave a self-conscious laugh and then plucked at the shirt. “Also, sorry for stealing a shirt, but all my clothes seem to have made it off before we got to your bedroom. Not that it’s anything you haven’t seen already, but it’s a little chilly to be walking around naked. I’ll go get changed though.”

“Either way,” I said, not wanting to admit that I liked the look of her in my clothes.

Abigail paused, eyeing me for a moment, and then shrugged, walking farther into the kitchen. She sat down at one of the seats, and I poured her a mug of coffee, adding just a little creamer like I’d noticed she normally did.

  “Thanks,” she said.

“No worries.” I cleared my throat. “About last night, though—” I broke off, not sure how to say it.

“No one can find out about that,” Abigail said before I could finish. “Zach would kill me if he found out I had slept with you, his best friend.”

“He’d kill me first, though, for sleeping with his little sister,” I joked, glad we were on the same page about it. Already, there seemed to be a lack of awkward tension between us, not like when I’d seen her after the shower. I was relieved. Maybe last night hadn’t been such a bad idea.
