“All y’all asses get in the dining room now so that we can eat.” She demanded. Adonis took my hand and guided me to the dining room where everyone sat. I chose to sit next to Kenneth, who I loved so much. He had become a major part of the family, considering that we didn’t have any kids as of right now. He sat in his high chair and ate the small pieces of ham and macaroni that Clara had fixed for him.
I looked around the table and saw that Clara and Stacks were talking up a storm. He seemed to be extremely interested in her, which was a little odd, because Clara was normal, never flashy and very conservative. She was gorgeous nonetheless and black definitely didn’t crack in her case. She still looked better than half of the ladies my age. Stacks just seemed like the type to go for the model type. Either way, it was Thanksgiving so I guess it was just friendly conversation. I looked at Miracle, who sat across from Turk. They avoided eye contact with each other by being on their phones. Then there was Ramses and Persia who sat next to each other, but didn’t say a word to each other.
“The tension is so thick, baby,” I whispered to Adonis.
“Remember what I said, don’t get in anybody’s business,” he warned as he looked at me seriously. I sighed and sat quietly until Grams appeared out of the kitchen with the cranberry sauce.
“Now we can eat.” She announced before everyone started digging into the food like savages.
TURK
We all sat in the living room and watched TV as the women put the large Christmas tree up. I casually stole glances at Miracle and Kenneth. She gave him an ornament and picked him up, so that he could place it on the tree. Seconds later his little face would light up with excitement. Once she put him down her phone began ringing. I watched her as she walked over to her purse and pulled out her cell phone. Her face lit up and she bit her bottom lip. She then disappeared upstairs somewhere to talk to whoever had called her. I knew deep down that it was another nigga, and to be honest that shit was mad disrespectful. Not only to Grams, but to me as well.
“You see that shit, fam?” I said aloud so that the boys could hear me.
“Nigga, see what,” Adonis answered with his eyes glued to the TV.
“You see how Miracle answered her phone and disappeared like that. That shit was mad disrespectful to Grams, fam.” I said getting pissed off even more.
“Nigga, how is that disrespectful to Grams? You mad because she on the phone with another nigga.”
“Wait, I’m confused, nephew. You mean to tell me that she is on the phone with another man, and you know about it? Did I raise a punk ass nigga? You better be a man and put your foot down. Snatch that fuckin’ phone out of her hand and let her know who the fuck is running the show. I wanted you all to be alpha males. If you would have established dominance when y’all first started dating this wouldn’t be happening,” Stacks said as he looked at me seriously.
“I did some fucked up shit, but best believe I ain’t letting her go anywhere. I’ll be right back, fam.” I said as I stood to my feet. I looked over at Kenneth, who was now playing with his blocks that I laid out for him earlier. Little nigga distracted, perfect, I thought. I walked towards the stairs. I began walking up the steps, and when I finally made it to the top, I heard slight moans coming from one of the guest rooms. Adonis and Briana were downstairs, and they were known for sneaking off to fuck in Grams’ house. Ramses and Persia were pissed at each other. Stacks was downstairs along with Clara, so it couldn’t be them, and I was right the fuck here, so it bet not be Miracle.
I turned the knob slightly and realized that it was unlocked. The moans behind the door became a little louder and my blood began to boil. I turned the knob one more time before I busted in yelling.
“WHO THE FUCK YOU THINK YOU TAL—” I stopped as my hand covered my chest. I started hyperventilating as a nigga began to get light-headed. I stumbled out of the room and down the hallway until I got to the top of the staircase.
“Help,” I yelled. When no one answered me, I made my way down the stairs as quickly as I could. “Help, I can’t breathe,” I yelled.
I stumbled into the living room and saw no one. The girls must have been in the kitchen, because I heard nothing but laughter and the sounds of dishes clinging to together. The niggas must have been in the den sharing a cigar, and that’s where I needed to be. I gasped for air, and had my hand covering my heart, as I made it down the steps. “Help,” I yelled.
“What the fuck? Who calling for help,” Adonis shouted. I made it to the bottom and stumbled to the floor as I continued to gasp for air. Adonis, Stacks, and Ramses rushed to my side. They began checking my body for any signs of bullet holes. Stacks pulled out his gun from his waste and so did Adonis. They were both about to head upstairs until I yelled stop.
Ramses held me in his arms as my eyes fluttered. “Speak, fam, what happened to you, bruh,” Adonis barked. This big nigga was already pissed off.
“Grams…balls…deep,” I stuttered.
“Nigga what?” Ramses yelled.
“James was going balls deep in Grams,” I said. I placed my hand over my heart and closed my eyes again. Ramses got up and dropped my head on the ground.
“Mothafucka, you came down here like you had been shot. I got my fucking girl up there and my seeds and you acting like you seen something horrible,” Adonis boomed as he placed his gun back in his waist. Stacks walked over to the bar and downed a shot of Hennessey as he shot me a glare. Ramses stood over my ass laughing ‘til tears escaped his eyes.
I got up and dusted my fit off while I mean mugged all their asses. “Did y’all not here what the fuck I just said. James is literally going balls deep in Grams, fam, fucking the shit out of my poor granny, and we sitting down here like some bitches, not doing shit about it. He could be up there fucking killing her, fam. Granny is old as fuck so you know her heart bad,” I said.
“Nigga, they been fucking for years,” Adonis said as he waved me off.
“What the fuck you just say?” I asked astonished.
“They been fucking for years, bruh, ever since we was little. They think we don’t know, but we been hip since we was small,” Ramses said as he sat in front of the TV.
“Unc, you let my fucking granny cheat on Grandpa?” I asked.
“Mula did Grams dirty in many ways, I saw her cry more times than I saw her smile. I trusted James, and I knew he made her happy so why not? It ain’t like she fucking an outside nigga. His money may not be longer than ours, but he’s putting a smile on my mother’s face,” Stacks said as he looked out of the window at Clara.
“I can’t believe y’all mothafuckas knew this all along and didn’t tell me. She been getting raped all her fucking life, and y’all let this shit go on like she’s happy about it.” I yelled. A nigga was low-key hurt.
“Nigga, she not getting raped and she is happy. You said she was moaning, right?” Ramses smirked.
“Fam….I’m about to fucking throw up. All I saw was some prunes going deep in my granny… fuck… Granny why you, fam?” I said as I banged my fist up against the wall. All of a sudden Briana and Persia came downstairs followed by Miracle and Kenneth. As soon as he saw me he ran over to me and hugged my legs. He extended his arms so that I could pick him up, and right when I was about to, Miracle rushed over and took him from me.
“That’s fucking foul, you can’t keep him from me,” I boomed putting all of the attention on us.
“You aren’t his dad. I don’t need him getting used to another man that won’t be in his life,” she said. Those words cut me deep, but I would never give this girl the satisfaction of knowing that. Clara suddenly came down with her brows furrowed in anger as she walked towards us.
“Y’all will not do this shit in front of my grandbaby. Y’all need to work out whatever differences y’all have now, instead of arguing all the damn time. I’m sick of it, and I’m sure everyone else is too. Y’all either gon’ move on and be friends, or completely erase each other out of your lives.” She said as she grabb
ed Kenneth and headed back upstairs. Stacks soon followed along with Ramses and Persia. Adonis and Briana’s ass stayed seated as they watched us.
“Y’all nosey as fuck, fam. Take y’all ass upstairs too,” I told them.
“Come on. Baby. I’m ready for some quality time anyway,” Adonis mentioned as he grabbed Bri’s hand and guided her up the steps. Once the door was shut, I stared at Miracle coldly and waited for her to speak up.
“Turk, I’m tired of having this conversation. It’s nothing for us to talk about so I’m leaving,” she said. She turned around and began walking back up the steps. I chased after her and grabbed her by the hair. I forced her to walk back down every step she went up. I pulled my gun from my waist and wrapped my hand around her neck, backing her up against the wall.
“Who was the nigga you was talking to on the phone? And don’t fucking lie to me, Miracle.” I boomed. She avoided eye contact, which was proof that she was talking to someone else. “Don’t make me fucking ask again, Miracle,” I said through gritted teeth.
“You don’t fucking know him so don’t worry about it. He treats me better than you ever did and wants to marry me. You missed out on your chance fucking with other women, so you can’t blame me for moving on,” she spat.
I let go of her neck and kicked the glass table. It shattered instantly and glass flew everywhere. “I’m gon’ find that nigga and when I do I’m gon’ kill him,” I threatened.
“What the hell is going on down here,” I heard Grams say from the top of the steps.
“Grams, this ain’t got shit to do with you, gon’ ‘head and go back upstairs, fam,” I said.
“Hold the fuck up. I know damn well that better not be my own grandchild talking to me like I’m somebody off the street.” Grams said as she came down the steps with her sleeves rolled up. I pinched the bridge of my nose, because I needed to speak to Miracle and not argue with her ass.
“Miracle, go upstairs, baby,” she said as she walked closer to me. Miracle wasted no time running up the steps and closing the door.
“Turk, did you pull a gun out on that girl? Are you serious right now?”
“Listen, Grams, this me and Miracle’s business. I’m not trying to argue with a woman who was just getting dicked down by an old ass man with prunes as balls, fam,” I said with base in my voice. She covered her mouth and looked at me like I was crazy.
“Yeah, Grams, I said it…you kept that from me for so long. How everyone else know except for me? And to think I was your favorite. I feel… I feel… fucking pissed.” I threw the cuss word in there because I know I had her surprised, and I was quite sure she wouldn’t hit me. Now the shoe was on the other foot.
“I don’t think I’ll be talking to you for a couple days, Granny, I’m pissed at you. I think it’s time for me to go. Before I do, I think you should go upstairs and make me a to-go plate.”
Without saying a word she shook her head and headed back upstairs, and I followed her feeling like the mothafucking man. This was the first time in a long time I hadn’t been slapped for cussing in front of Grams, and I felt pretty good about it.
PERSIA
I saw Ramses in the kitchen messing with his phone and decided to ask him if he could at least take me home. I caught a ride with Briana and Adonis here, but now they were gone. I definitely didn’t want to ride with Miracle or Turk, because I knew they would only talk about each other, and I wasn’t in the mood for it. I knocked on the wall so that I would catch his attention before I said anything. “Something wrong with the baby?” he asked as he got up from his chair.
“No, I just wanted to know if you would take me home since it’s on the way to your house anyway,” I asked hoping he would say yes.
“Yeah, I’ll drop you off. I’m ready to go now.” He said as he walked past me. I gave Grams and Clara a hug before I went over to Miracle. I wanted to ask her what was on her mind, because she had been quiet since her and Turk’s little altercation downstairs. I guess he had my girl spooked.
“You ok, boo? What’s wrong with you,” I asked.
“Girl, Turk told my ass he gon’ kill Donald. I don’t want to be responsible for any body’s death. He looked serious too, Persia.” She said as she shook her head. Deep down I knew for a fact that Turk was more than serious with his threat, and I knew that once he matched a face with the name Donald, it was a wrap for that poor man. I didn’t know how to comfort Miracle, because it was no use. Donald would most likely end up dead if Miracle continued to talk to him.
“Girl, the only advice I have for you is if you don’t want Donald to end up dead stop talking to him and work things out with Turk.” I said.
“I don’t know about that right now, P. I’m chilling for right now. What I do know is you better get your ass to that front door, because Ramses looks like he’s getting pissed.” She said as she pointed to him. Sure enough he had that cold, angry glare in his eyes. I ended the conversation with Miracle and made sure I gave everyone else their hug. Ramses decided not to wait for me. Instead he waited in the car. He already had the car started while he awaited for my arrival. Once I made it outside, I closed my jacket because it was freezing. I wobbled to the car and opened the door as I tried my best to get in.
“You done saying goodbye to everybody? Can I pull off?” he asked with a slight attitude. I simply nodded my head and put on my seatbelt. I watched him back out of the driveway and drive on the road.
“The food was really good, babe, I’m stuffed. The baby has been moving all day.” I said trying to at least make conversation, because it was so quiet in the car. He said nothing. I extended my arm so that I could turn on the radio, but he swatted my hand away.
“Don’t touch my fucking radio,” he spat.
“It’s so quiet in here. If you aren’t going to talk to me then I at least want to listen to the Christmas station.” I said.
“I’m thinking about some important shit, and I don’t need the fuckin’ radio on, make me repeat myself if you want to, ma. Sit the fuck back and enjoy the ride,” he boomed as he looked back and forth at me and the road. I exhaled and began staring out of the window. I guess being quiet was the best thing I could do right now.
30 Minutes Later
“Are you going to come in, Ramses?” I asked as we sat parked outside of my loft building.
“Nah, I got some business to handle. Gon’ ‘head and get you some sleep. We got a doctor’s appointment tomorrow,” he said as he looked through his phone. I was honestly surprised, because I didn’t remember scheduling any appointment for tomorrow with my doctor. The appointment that I originally scheduled wasn’t ‘til next month, when I hit my eight month mark. I pulled out my cell phone and went directly to the calendar app, which confirmed what I already knew.
“Ramses, we don’t have an appointment tomorrow,” I said holding the phone up so that he could see.
“I scheduled one because I want to know the gender of my baby. I’m sick of waiting.”
“We only have two more months after these last couple of days,”
“I want to know the gender of my baby, Persia, and that’s final. The doctor can tell me, you ain’t got to know, but I do,” he said as he glared at me.
“Well if you’re going to find out then I want to know too, then I can go shopping for the baby and stuff,” I said. He only nodded his head and continued to scroll through his cell phone. I didn’t want the conversation to end here. I wanted him to come inside with me. I wanted him to hold me like he used to and tell me he loved me.
“My light bulb is out in my bathroom, and I can’t reach it. I need it fixed, because I don’t want to fall on my stomach. It will only take a second, Ramses,” I lied hoping he would take the bait. He studied me for a minute before turning the car off and hopping out of the driver’s side. I hurried up and wobbled my ass out of the passenger’s side, so that I could hurry up and catch up with him. He stood by the entrance of the loft building and waited for me, which was the nicest thing he
had done for me since he had been mad at me.
As soon as we walked in the security guard gave me some of my mail, and we got onto the elevator. Of course the ride up was silent. The only thing I could think about was how I was going to get him to stay when he found out my lightbulb worked perfectly fine. Suddenly, the elevator beeped indicating that we were on the designated floor. I stepped off and walked ahead of him. My palms were sweating and I was more than nervous. Let him walk in first so that you can guard the door if he tries to leave, I thought as we made it to my door. I slowly stuck the key in and turned the knob. Once we were in I took my jacket off and placed it on the hook.
“Make yourself comfortable, there are drinks and food in the kitchen,” I said trying to ease the tension.
“I’m here to change the lightbulb then I’m leaving, Persia,” he said as he began walking towards the bathroom. I stood by the door and pressed my body against it, because I knew his ass was about to spazz out. I heard him flick the light on followed by a hard sigh.
“So you lied to me, P?” he boomed as he shook his head. I couldn’t say anything, so I looked away from him to avoid eye contact as he approached me.
“Move out of the fucking way, so I can leave this mothafucka,” he boomed as he towered over me.
“Ramses, I’m scared to sleep here by myself...I don’t want you to leave, baby.” I pleaded.
“You should have never went out and got a fucking loft in the city. You should have stayed your ass at Briana and Adonis’ house, but you wanted to be a fucking rebel and do you. You never fucking listen.” He boomed as he eyed me angrily. I blinked several times to hold back the tears that were starting to form in my eyelids. Even though he was yelling at me, I still didn’t want him to leave. I knew daddy missed me just as much as I missed him. I craved his touch so badly it hurt. I needed him tonight, and I was determined to get my way. When we lived together Ramses couldn’t keep his hands off of me and needed sex constantly. My baby had a high sex drive, so I knew he had to be hornier than I was.
