“J’vion, please leave,” she said pointing to the door as she turned her back on him.

“Aaliyah, I came here empty handed but I won’t be leaving the same way,” J’vion said as he kissed the back of her neck. Aaliyah flinched from the unexpected kiss. She didn’t like the way his lips felt against her skin.

“Listen, I don’t owe you shit and I need for you to understand that. So you have no other choice but to leave empty handed.” She said turning to look him in the eyes. J’vion laughed as he paced around her.

“Aaliyah, you are going to pay me what you owe one way or another,” he assured.

“Whatever just get the fuck out of my office,” she said as she walked over to the door and held it open. “The next time I see you in my office I expect to be talking to you about a case I could assist you in.” She finished looking him dead in his eyes.

“Aaliyah, you are not about that life,” J’vion said now standing in front of her.

“When my back is against the wall I have no other choice but to be “About that life” as you say,” she said with her hands on her hips.

“Are you sure you wanna go toe to toe with me?”

“Test me and find out,” she replied. “You are dismissed,” she said pointing out the door.

J’vion smiled as he walked out of her office. When he stepped on the other side of the door he turned around to say something but Aaliyah slammed and locked the door before he could get another word out. Aaliyah threw her back against the door taking a deep breath.

  Chapter 4

It had been two months since Ace had received the note. He knew it wasn’t going to be the last, but that didn’t stop him from sending his daughters to be with their grandmother. He respected her, even after she had tried to get his rights revoked. She had blamed him for the death of her oldest child. Hell he blamed himself, but that had nothing to do with him being a parent. He loved his girls more than life itself and would lie down and die before he let anything happen to them. The same was with, Sunshine.

In those two months he’d found himself becoming extremely close to Aaliyah. They talked almost every day. He enjoyed her conversations and he found himself smiling a lot as of lately, something he rarely did if it wasn’t his daughters he was smiling for.

Ace finally invited Aaliyah over for dinner. He was still trying to figure out if it was lust or love that he felt for her. Ace was preparing baked salmon, white rice, salad, with rolls. Ace slid the rolls into the oven and went to get cleaned up. Being that he was chilling in the crib tonight he decided to throw on a pair of shorts, wife beater and his timberland boots. He’d gone to the barber earlier that day and got shaped up.

His Calvin Klein cologne followed him throughout the house. Ace removed the rolls from the oven just as the doorbell rung. He felt a little nervous for some reason as he looked around to make sure everything was straight. He hadn’t been this close to a woman in three years and wanted everything to run smoothly. The doorbell rang again causing him to rush out the kitchen to answer the door.

He opened the door to find a smiling, Aaliyah standing there looking good in a strapless dress and open-toe sandals, the dress hugged her perfect body revealing the dips and curves of her body. “I hope I’m not over dressed,” she teased.

“No, you’re dressed perfectly,” Ace replied as he pulled her in for a hug. “You smell good,” he said inhaling her scent.

“Lord this man smells damn good.” Aaliyah thought as she stayed wrapped in his strong embrace. “Thanks!” She replied as they broke away from the hug. Aaliyah took Ace in. It didn’t matter what he wore, he looked good. They admired each other for what felt like forever, but it was only for a few seconds.

“How rude, come in,” Ace said grabbing a hold of her hand guiding her inside and closing the door behind them.

Aaliyah took in his place. It was neat, clean, decorated nicely, and everything seemed to be in order. “It smells great in here. What are we having for dinner?” Aaliyah asked as they walked into the kitchen.

“Salmon, white rice, salad, and rolls,” Ace replied. “Can I get you anything to drink, a glass of wine, soda, liquor, or juice?”

“A glass of wine will do just fine,” she answered. “Can I ask you a question?”

“Ask me anything you want,” Ace said over his shoulder as he was opening the bottle of wine.

“What made you decide to leave the game alone?”

“When my wife was killed, I knew that was the sign that I needed to get out while I still had a chance. I was out there running wild not giving a fuck about nothing. At times I thought I was invisible and knew I couldn’t be touched. But when I got the call that someone had murdered my wife, shit broke me in half. Everyone and anyone who knew me knew how I felt about, Sunshine. She was my world, my ace, and when she died I knew I had to step up and do the right thing by my girls,” Ace answered handing her the glass of wine.

“Thanks.” Aaliyah said taking the glass from his hands. She looked into his hazel brown eyes and saw the love he still had for his wife along with the hurt. “If you could go back and change anything would you?”

“The only thing I’ll change is losing Sunshine other than that I wouldn’t change anything,” Ace assured. “But I feel it was a blessing in disguise because if she was still here I’m sure I’ll still be deep in the game.”

Aaliyah sat there wondering where Ace and she would be right now if Sunshine was still alive. Would he have pulled over that night on the highway? Would he have called to make sure she had made it home safely? Would they have spent most of the night talking on the phone like that had done? Would she be sitting here admiring how handsome he was if Sunshine was still alive?

Aaliyah and Ace finished their conversation while they sat at the candle lit table Ace had set up. They talked, laughed while enjoying each other company. Once again the conversation between the two flowed.

“Amir, I must say you did the damn thing,” Aaliyah said pushing her empty plate away as she grabbed her almost empty wine glass. “What do you have planned next?”

“I really didn’t plan much of anything. Are you up for watching a few flicks?”

“Sure, what movie did you have in mind?”

“It’s an old movie called Hot Boys. I don’t think too many know about it, but I enjoy it because of the love the two shared. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it as well,” Ace said as he got up walking over to Aaliyah. He helped her from her seat leading the way to the living room. Aaliyah grabbed the half empty bottle of wine and her glass before they left the kitchen.

The movie was already in the DVD player so when they got into the living room and took their seats, Ace grabbed the remote and hit play. He lit a blunt sat back and pulled Aaliyah close to him with his arm wrapped around her shoulders. Aaliyah slipped her shoes off and made herself more comfortable. She hadn’t felt this secure wrapped in any man arms.

As Aaliyah waited for the movie to play she looked around the room to find many photos sitting in picture frames. One picture caught her eyes the most causing her to get up to get a better look at it. “Amir, why didn’t you tell me you had a twin brother?” She asked holding the picture up admiring it closely. Aaliyah could tell they were younger in the picture. From the smiles on their faces they were happy.

Ace ran his hands over his face. “I lost my brother a long time ago.” He answered tapping the empty space next to him. Aaliyah sat the picture back in its place and took a seat next to, Ace.

“Did he die?” Aaliyah pressed some more. She could tell talking about his brother was a touchy subject causing her to want to know why that much more.

“You can say that,” he answered looking into her eyes.

“I’m so sorry to hear that,” Aaliyah replied grabbing his hand.

“Don’t be. It happens all the time.” Ace said shrugging his shoulders.

&nb
sp; Aaliyah didn’t know what was intoxicating her the most. The glasses of wine she had consumed or Ace’s cologne. Both had her tingling inside and out. She found herself loving the movie and on a few different occasions shedding a few tears. She could tell the love Kool had for his lady was real and like no other. It had Aaliyah wondering if she would ever experience anything like it.

Aaliyah didn’t know what came over her, but she leaned up to kiss Ace’s lips. They locked eyes and for the first time she couldn’t read his eyes. She didn’t know if she should pull away or kiss him again. But the feeling she got when she kissed his lips caused her to continue to kiss his soft lips. It took a minute but Ace finally kissed her back. Aaliyah felt a little embarrassed and pulled away.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I don’t know what has gotten into me.” Ace grabbed her face so that he could look into her eyes.

“Don’t ever feel sorry about anything you do,” with that being said he leaned down and kissed her lips. The passion that shot through both their bodies was undeniable.

Aaliyah climbed on Ace’s lap and grabbed both sides of his head and pulled him deeper into her lips. She could feel his member growing under her. She couldn’t help herself as she reached for the button on his shorts. She struggled to get the button loose and it was pissing her off. Ace cracked a smile seeing that she was struggling to get his throbbing dick released. He decided to help her release his tool.

Aaliyah gasped as she wrapped her small hands around his long, thick tool. Her mouth watered. Ace lifted her dress and snatched her thong clean off her ass. He played in her wetness. Ace massaged her clit with his thumb. A moan escaped from between Aaliyah’s lips as she stroked him. She was tired of the teasing they were doing to each other and lifted herself up, guiding the head of his dick to her soaking wet pussy. “Aaaahhh,” Aaliyah moaned as she eased all the way down on his thick tool.

She winced in pain from the size as she slowly slid up and down his dick. Ace was enjoying the ride. He pulled her dress down revealing her double D breast, he knew he would love sucking on. He sat up grabbing a hold of both her breast, he sunk his teeth into her left breast teasing her nipple. When he was done with the first one he moved on to the second doing the same thing. Ace could sense Aaliyah getting excited as she bounced on his dick faster and faster.

“Slow up, baby,” he said as he grabbed her waist to slow her rhythm down.

Aaliyah placed the palm of her hands on his chest and slowed down. “Amir!” Aaliyah called out as she pulled him in deeper by squeezing his dick with her pussy muscles.

“Aww shit, damn girl!” Ace grunted as he toyed with her clit.

“Daddy I need this. Fuck me, please,” she moaned as she continued to bounce up and down on his dick. “Aww shit, Amir that’s my spot,” she moaned as she rotated her hips slowly in circular motions.

“Don’t hold back! Let loose ma,” Ace said beating it up.

“I’m gonna cum. Oh shit, I’m cumin’!” Aaliyah moaned as her body shook and her love juices came from within. Ace wasn’t done as he got up from the couch with Aaliyah still on his dick. He sat her on the couch and flipped her over onto her stomach; he positioned himself behind her before sliding deep inside her.

“FUCK!” Aaliyah screamed as she slowly threw it back while looking over her shoulder. She twerked her hips as if she was on the dance floor dancing.

“Shit,” Ace grunted smacking Aaliyah on the ass. Aaliyah’s pussy was soaking wet and had Ace feeling as if he was in Heaven.

Aaliyah was enjoying Ace deep inside her slippery slit as she clawed at the couch and buried her face deep into the seats. He was working her over damn good and she didn’t want it to ever end. “Got damn, yes, yes fuck me just like that,” she moaned as she continued throwing it back. The dick was big and long and Ace knew just how to work his shit. Ace grabbed a fist full of her hair jerking her head back while grabbing her waist with his free hand. Sweat was pouring from his forehead, but that didn’t stop him from fucking the shit out of her.

“Shit, Ace I’m cumin. Oh shit, I’m cumin’!” Aaliyah moaned as her body shook and her love juices came from within. Ace came with Aaliyah releasing his load inside her.

Ace lit his blunt while he stared at Aaliyah who was breathing heavily. “Baby girl you a’ight over there?” He asked.

  “I’m good,” she answered.

  “You smoke?”

“No, I’m already high,” Aaliyah giggled. Ace laughed.

“Come on,” he said getting up and helping her from the couch.

  “Where are we going?”

“To take a shower and enjoy the rest of our night,” he answered picking her up and carrying her to the bathroom. Ace ran a bubble bath before he and Aaliyah slipped into the steaming hot water. He finished off his blunt as they sat there staring into each other eyes before Aaliyah broke the silence.

“Where are the girls? I would love to meet them.” She said.

“I sent them to be with their grandmother for a while. Or until I can figure some things out.” He said. “You’ll meet them soon, I promise.”

Ace and Aaliyah talked, joked, and laughed as if they knew each other for a lifetime. Once again their conversation flowed smoothly, while keeping each other entertained.

  Chapter 5

Ace felt torn; here he was falling for another woman while still holding on to his wife. She had died three years ago and he felt that he could never love another the way he loved her. But he was slowly beginning to be proven wrong. He didn’t know if it was wrong to regret pulling over and assisting Aaliyah with her car that night on the highway.

The feelings he had bottled up when Sunshine died was now coming back, only difference was they wasn’t for Sunshine. They were for, Aaliyah. Ace stood over, Sunshine’s gravesite holding a dozen of roses. This was his first time visiting her in over a year and he was starting to feel guilty. He didn’t know why, because he knew she would want him to be happy and move on. Ace stood there and took a trip down memory lane. A memory he tried hard to forget.

Ace pulled up to the funeral home dressed in a tailor-made suit. He was looking sharper than a number two pencil. The love of his life was being laid to rest. While slipping out the backseat of the limo he removed his hat while looking up and down the street. The amount of people who had come out to say their finally goodbyes to Sunshine warmed his heart. The moment was short lived as reality set in his mind once again that his woman was taken from him just like that and for no reason at all.

As Ace slowly approached the front door, Sunshine’s mother rushed him.

“Where do you think you’re going?” She asked while tears ran down her face at a rapid pace.

“What do you mean, where do I think I’m going?” Ace asked with a confused look on his face. “I’m going to say goodbye to, Sunshine just as everyone one else is.” He finished.

“Haven’t you already done enough?” She asked poking Ace in his chest. “You and your life style is the reason I have to bury my child. You and your life style is the reason my grandbabies will grow-up without their mother and last but definitely not least you and your life style is the reason my baby girl has to have a closed casket funeral,” she let him know.

Ace went to say something but she cut him off. “There isn’t anything you can say to change my mind about how I feel about you, so just leave.” She said.

Ace wanted to argue and fight because he knew he had every right to be there just as everyone else. But he wasn’t about to put on a sense. “Can you at least give her these roses and tell her that I love her?” He asked holding to roses out. She smacked them out of his hand while staring him in his eyes.

“Go to hell, Amir!” She screamed. Jay had heard and saw enough so he stepped in between the two.

“I got you bruh. But I’m gonna need for you to leave before you end up and jail,
” he said looking at Ace. He couldn’t relate and didn’t feel how Ace felt at the moment making him unsure of what to say. Ace took a deep breath trying to hold the tears back but the tears hit the surface at full force. He was being denied to say his finally goodbye to his beloved, Sunshine.

Later on that day at the burier grounds, Ace sat in his car and watched as everyone. He didn’t realize he was crying again until tears started rolling down his face. His eyes landed on his daughters causing him to break down anymore. He wandered just how and when was he going to be able to explain to them that their mother was dead and gone and never coming back. Better yet, how was he going to tell them that he and the lifestyle he lived was the reason she was gone?

Ace waited for everyone to leave before he was able to say farewell to Sunshine. He had rehearsed what he wanted to say over and over again in his head all day long but now that he was standing over her casket his mind had gone complete blank. His heart was heavy. “Baby, I promise I’m going to find out who did this to you and make them pay. Just be our angel,” he whispered wiping the tears way. “You know I will always love you.” He said blowing a kiss as he turned to walk away. He has work to put in and the streets of Hampton was about to feel his pain and warth.

The feeling of another presence approaching brought him from his thoughts.

“Serenity and Savanna are getting so big. They definitely got their looks from you,” Ace said as he bent down to sit the roses down. Ace could feel someone approaching, but he never turned around. He was having a moment with his dead wife, whoever it was had to fucking wait. “You already know I love you and can’t anyone ever take your place. Keep looking over the girls and me,” Ace said blowing a kiss. He stood to his feet and slowly turned around to find a tall dark skinned man standing behind him with his hands behind his back.

“Is there a reason as to why you’re standing here?” Ace asked.
