Vegenrage: The Magic User
Page 25
Logantrance is in his home and sitting in a comfortable rocking chair, when he notices the surge he has been anticipating. “Robert returns,” he says and chants some words and appears before the bottle in its safe, hidden room. The staff in his hand casts a light, and all the spiders retreat to their holes in the walls. Logantrance watches as the bottle cracks, and each crack leads to another and another, and a bright white light starts to seep out of the cracks. The bottle shatters, and it disintegrates with a blinding light, and he has to look away. The small ball the world of Wherlerria grows and evaporates, and Vegenrage and Farrah fall to the ground on the other side of the mound that Logantrance is on. They stand up unharmed. “Logantrance.”
“Young master of magic Robert, or should I say Vegenrage?”
“Vegenrage it is, and this is Farrah.”
“Farrah, well, it does not surprise me that Vegenrage would come back with the most beautiful girl from Wherlerria.”
“About Wherlerria, I think some more explanation would come in handy about right now.”
“Ah yes, question-and-answer time. You two come with me. I bet you could use some time to relax and hear about the creation of Wherlerria.”
They follow Logantrance to his library, and he transforms it into a relaxing dining room, and they sit and eat as he begins to explain about Wherlerria.
“The big question I have is, how does time elapse for almost eight hundred years on Wherlerria, which is really Kronton, but Kronton only aged the blink of an eye?”
“It’s a lot like you coming here. You have been in the Maglical System now for almost a year, but on your home world, time has not passed, not even a second, since you left there.”
“I have been here not even six months. I just don’t understand this time measurement at all.”
“Well, you will, and for lack of a better term, in time.”
“So how did you get all that mass, all those people and different beings, from Kronton to Wherlerria? Even if you knew the magic to do such a thing, which obviously you did, how did you have the magical strength to get it done?”
“That is where Behaggen came in. The planet Kronton was becoming a stronghold planet for very powerful evil characters. Blethstole was devastating whole kingdoms. Xanorax was in league with very powerful demons. Alluradaloni was stealing the souls of the most powerful beings fighting against the evildoers.”
“I am—was—Alluradaloni, but I was under the charm of Alisluxkana from the time I was a baby and was unaware of what I was doing. She used me as bait and killed all those people, stealing their souls and abilities and whatever magical items and stuff they had with them. Alisluxkana was the evil behind Alluradaloni, and Vegenrage saved me from that horrible witch. Now I am Farrah. Now for the first time in my life, I am free to think and choose, thanks to Vegenrage.”
“I see. I did not know that. I guess Vegenrage has been a savior to you and many more since the two of you have put a stop to the murderous ways of that witch. Did you come in contact with Swallgrace? He was my teacher and one of the most powerful magic users in the Maglical System.”
“Yes, I did see him, and he was using powerful magic on me when Alisluxkana attacked him from behind, and I don’t remember much of what happened after that, but I know she stole his life force. So, Logantrance, how did you get all the regions and live beings from Kronton onto Wherlerria and into the bottle?”
“Well, Behaggen is the first Bag of Holding and is the only Bag of Holding with free will.”
“Nope. Parnapp has free will now as well.”
“Parnapp?”
“Yes, Parnapp was given to me by Vegenrage when he accepted Behaggen, and Behaggen gave free will to Parnapp.”
“This must mean you are a student of magic now.”
“Yes, I am, and Vegenrage is my teacher.” Farrah looks at Vegenrage, knowing how cleverly she slipped that in there, and Vegenrage looks back with a smile that silently says touché.
“Before Swallgrace went to Kronton to face Alluradaloni, Behaggen advised him and me that if he should fail in his quest to find and destroy Alluradaloni, the realms of Kronton should be put in a Bag of Holding until a new master could be found for him. Otherwise, there would be not enough on the side of good to prevent the evil beings of Kronton from quickly advancing on Strabalster and Fargloin. They would’ve slaughtered and enslaved all three worlds, and we had to do something to at least halt the advance of evil, or it would have overtaken us all. Behaggen actually enchanted the bottle and imbued me with the magical knowledge to keep it safe and contained. Swallgrace, I, and Behaggen worked on this magic for six hundred years, gaining the strength needed, and when we had it all in place, Swallgrace set out to find Alluradaloni. If he were to fail on his quest—and he did—the bottle automatically swooped over Kronton and put a time phase in place so no one realized what was happening. The bottle imitated the entire world down to every molecule and made a replica. The bottle then backtracked, leaving the replicated world and kept the real world with all its life trapped within, unable to escape the bottle. The bottle simulated the rotating sun around the world and maintained gravity, but those like Blethstole, Xanorax, and Practu, the demon master of Kronton, were not able to reach any other worlds to expand their destruction. All the magic was really in the bottle, and the bottle did all the work.”
“Well, those evil characters can expand to other worlds now.”
“Well, now we have another magic user to help in the fight against them. Speaking of this, did you kill any of these evil adversaries? You had to kill Practu in order to release Wherlerria with the Rose Unbar Key.”
“Practu and Alisluxkana are the only two who died. All others are still alive. So Wherlerria no longer exists? It is gone and is Kronton now?”
“Yes, the bottle has been broken and Kronton restored.”
“Logantrance, this is much more than I had ever imagined. I mean, there is no limit to what magic can do, and this is too much for me to try to understand. I need to go home and rest.”
“I know this is overwhelming, but keep your wits up. Keep your spirit in good health because there has been a lot going on while you were in Wherlerria. The very powerful magic user Cloakenstrike is making great strides to become the most powerful magic user of all, and he has acquired the Octagemerwell, making him completely fluent in all elven magic. This is a very dangerous magic user and one to beware of. He has killed the king of Erkensharie and many others. I can already tell you have the Cloak of Concealment, and this is very good. No one can detect your presence, and this will be very good because your paths will cross at some point. He has led an army of humanors against the Ugorian Kingdom and tried to steal the Snow Gold Trinket. The humanor army has been wiped out, and Cloakenstrike and three humanors have been imprisoned in the Krasbeil Mountains. No one has ever escaped this prison, but he may. When you released Wherlerria back to Kronton, there has been a time phase reset disrupting magic, and I don’t know how this will affect the magic of Cloakenstrike and the magic of Shenlylith, but it will affect it in some way. I have prepared for this situation so we here can use our magic, and all magic will be normal soon.”
“Good. I need to go rest for a little while and try to understand as much as I can about what has happened. I am going to my study now.”
“I am going with you. It was nice to meet you, Logantrance.”
“You too, Farrah.”
Vegenrage and Farrah walk through a Dimension Door and appear in his home.
“Wow, this is where you live?”
“Yup, this is it.”
“Look at all these books. Are these all books about magic?”
“At least half of them are. A lot of them tell about the worlds of the Maglical System and its history.”
“How many of these have you read?”
“All of them.”
“Wow, so you know all the history of all the worlds of this solar system?”
“I know a lot of it, but it is all
not correct. For example, I did not know about you. I mean, you are Alluradaloni in the history books, but it was not known that Alisluxkana had you under her charm and was the real stealer of souls.”
“Everyone thinks I am Alluradaloni?”
“No! No one knows who you are, and you are Farrah unless you choose another name for yourself.”
“Well, I don’t care what anyone else thinks. I only care that you think well of me.” Farrah watches as Vegenrage uses his magic to disrobe down to his shorts, and he transforms the fireplace to a very large comfortable bed. He jumps in. “Ahhh, this is perfect, now I can sleep.”
“How do I do that?”
“Do what?”
“Use magic like you do. How do I just make my clothes come off and float into the dresser like you did?”
“Well, as I studied all these books and learned about magic, the very interesting thing I learned is that magic is really nothing more than an extension of one’s own mind and thoughts. Not everyone can use magic, and I think it’s because it is all about the mind-set of each individual. I am from the world known as Earth, very far from the Maglical System. I am not even sure, but I think I am from the Milky Way. I don’t even know where that is in relation to the Maglical System. I don’t even know if it is a solar system. I think the Milky Way is a galaxy, and I don’t even know what a galaxy is. It’s just real big, but anyway, the Maglical System has a unique gift about it. All living, thinking beings can have the ability to extend the thoughts and dreams they have, and they can become reality. That doesn’t mean it just happens, and very few can actually make this happen, but those that dare to dream and dream a lot make it happen. Back on my home planet, I was a dreamer. All day and all night, I would just dream about the things I wish were true. It’s just the way I was designed, and maybe that’s what drew Logantrance to me. But here in the Maglical System, I can make magic just by thinking it. I dared to dream all the time, and now it’s reality.”
“Well, why can’t I make it happen? I am trying to make my clothes float to the dresser, but nothing.”
Vegenrage sits up. “Just relax, close your eyes, and visualize what you want to happen.”
She does and after a minute opens her eyes, frustrated, saying, “Nothing is happening.”
“Just relax. Try this. Rub Parnapp very gently and think about what you want to happen.”
She closes her eyes and rubs Parnapp gently in a circular motion.
Parnapp’s eyes pop out and rise above her hand, and a mouth appears with big lips, and they rise to her cheek and give her a big kiss. Farrah looks at him with a big smile, still rubbing the bag gently. Parnapp is so adoring and cute you can’t help but smile.
“Oh, you know how to make me tingle,” he says, and purple, red, and blue dots start to form around her body, and words come to her mind and she speaks them. Her clothes start to remove from her, and a tall rack similar to a coat rack forms next to Vegenrage’s dresser, and her clothes float over and hang on the rack along with Parnapp.
“I did it! I did it, Vegenrage!”
“You did it.”
She jumps under the covers with Vegenrage, wearing just her underwear and a big smile. She slips close to him, lying on her side and resting her hand on his chest, running her fingers through the hair on his chest. “So as long as I dare to dream and concentrate about magic, I can make it happen like you do?”
“I don’t know, maybe.” Vegenrage closes his eyes, falling to sleep.
“So how did the people in the Maglical System learn to use magic?”
“In the very beginning, there were those that meditated most of their life and realized they could make magic, and they used words to symbolize the magical projection, known as spells. They could teach these words to ones of the right mind-set or, as they called it, a magical order. People began to learn how to heal with magic and cast offensive and defensive magic, and there were those more gifted than others, and they began to create and craft magic using their imagination.”
“I have seen a lot of magic users while under the spell of Alisluxkana, but they all had to speak words to make magic. Even Alisluxkana had to speak in order for magic to happen. How come you don’t have to speak to make magic?”
“I’m not sure about that, but maybe there is something special about me.” He smiles, looking at Farrah. “I think we all hope there is something special about us, something unique.”
“Maybe you dreamed about magic all the time and being able to create magic without speaking, and now you can.”
“Well, whatever it is, I am here and you are here. I have no concept of time and feel like I am in a dream right now.”
“I feel like for the first time I am not in a dream, and there is no one I would rather be with than with you.”
He smiles and closes his eyes. Farrah watches Vegenrage fall to sleep then maneuvers to the most comfortable position she can be in close to him and falls asleep.
CHAPTER 20
Kronton Resets
Looking at Kronton from space, it looks like it is fading in and out, like the planet is trying to pull away from itself. An image of itself pulls to the left, and then the planet pulls the image back. Then an image of itself pulls to the right, and the planet pulls it back. This is going on to all directions of the planet. Wherlerria is resetting itself back to its original planet, Kronton. On the planet, no one can see or feel this; however, there are very strong users of magic on Strabalster, Fargloin, and Kronton that know something is odd about the magical force of the Maglical System. The magical force resetting Kronton is usurping all the magic of the Maglical System, and users of magic throughout these planets notice they are weakened magically, and many have no magical ability at all. There are those who felt this before and find it very confusing, not knowing the source of what is happening.
Cloakenstrike sits up, looking around the cave. He looks at his hands, saying, “I have felt this before.” He stands up ready to heat the surrounding rock to give warmth as the cold has come back freezing the cave while they slept. He points his hands, chanting the words to create fire, and nothing happens.
Bastrenboar wakes. “What is it, Cloakenstrike?”
“Something is happening magically. I have no magic, and I have experienced this once before. Wake the others.”
Bastrenboar wakes Rothglon and Fraborn. “Is it something Shenlylith has done to you?”
“No! Actually she may have been more severely affected by this anomaly than I have been. I remember this feeling, this loss of magic. It happened once before. It took a little while, but I regained all my magic. Be ready, humanors. We must act fast to take advantage of this situation.”
The four are shivering even in their fur clothing as the cold has crept back in and froze the cave. The wind is blowing through the openings to the cave since Cloakenstrike’s barriers have gone with all his magic.
“Damn. It’s cold in here,” says Fraborn, shivering as they all are.
“We must be ready. If Shenlylith has lost her magic as I have, maybe I can teleport us out of here. Her magic is much stronger than mine but more widely concentrated. Maybe it will take her longer to regain her magic that encompasses this entire mountain range than it will take me to be able to get us out of here. Bastrenboar, try your magic and see if you have any.”
Bastrenboar tries to create flame giving warmth to them and is able to produce a little flame, heating the rocks in front of them. Being that Bastrenboar is very large and powerful in physical strength, this gives him strength that he can use in the form of magic. Plus he has the strength of Fraborn and Rothglon added to his, making him that much more able.
“Excellent. Let’s all sit.” They sit in a circle. “Bastrenboar, I am going to help you. I need for you to cast a Barrier of Magic Deflection around us.”
“No problem.”
Cloakenstrike holds his hands and concentrates while Bastrenboar chants the words.
“Creesor Dibondom Eefinical Reconball
yeem Charbluse Contaglier.” This works with the help of Cloakenstrike, and a magical barrier dome has been erected around them.
“Good. We must work fast.” Cloakenstrike reaches into his Bag of Holding and pulls out the Oriapow Genie Book, and it erects, releasing Oriapow to Cloakenstrike’s commands. “Oriapow, do you know what is happening magically?”
“Sorry, I do not know what is happening.”
“I have lost the use of my magic. Do you know if this has happened to Shenlylith as well?”
“Yes, it has happened to all.”
“I need you to teleport us out of this prison.”
While Oriapow was in the Bag of Holding, his magic was unaffected, but now out in the open, his magic is limited even though he is in the barrier just created.
“I have the magical strength to get you to the final mountain. From there you will have to walk off by foot.”
“Can you get us near the bottom of the mountain?”
“I will try, but Shenlylith’s magic, though weakened, is very powerful.”
“Do the best you can, Oriapow.”
He starts to chant in the ancient Erkensharie language. “Lie-bow-Ancarpillith-Antonbowbillith-Krammgillian-Achwarwillith-Streemsorlin-vaastbreek Le Clims De Bor!”
The four are transported to the final mountain in the Krasbeil Mountain Range, and they can see the bottom leading into the northernmost part of Hunoria. Oriapow has returned to his home and is back in the Bag of Holding, and they have been put in a very unfortunate spot on the mountain face. They are on a ledge just big enough to support the four of them with the only way off being straight down. A fall would surely kill any who falls off.
“Oh great, now what are we supposed to do?” sighs Fraborn. It is still very cold, and the bitter wind is whipping them head-on, and it is a long way to the bottom. It is very loud, and they have to shout to communicate.
