Colt: Demons of Destruction

“Colt.”
Maci pulled from his kiss, her breathy call of his name fanning over his face. Colt pushed her up, capturing a nipple between his teeth, as he groaned a throaty, “Hm?”
“Stop making me wait.”
Spurred by her need, Colt lifted her hips and drove into her with a deep thrust. He paused a breath and then launched into a pace that had Maci’s sharp gasps echoing in the night air around them.
A thin sheen of sweat coated him, as much from the mental effort of holding back as the physical labor of making love to her. Jesus. Maci was perfection, and being inside her, feeling her wet pussy sliding up and down his cock, was enough to drive him crazy.
With a last thrust, Colt moved his hands from her hips to her shoulders, folding her into him. “This won’t be an all-nighter, babe,” he warned, his words cracking with desire.
“I’m ready now,” Maci whined, flexing her hips over him. She pushed away, finding the perfect position. Colt cupped her tits in his hands, letting her have his way with him. Her nails scratched down his chest seconds before her release coated his cock. He couldn’t hold back anymore. Seconds later he was pounding into her again. Colt sucked in a breath, the last few strokes taking him over the edge.
His body went rigid, a growl of regret vibrating deep in his chest. He didn’t want this to be over, but there was no going back. One last thrust and he buried himself as deep as he could, his body going rigid, his cock pulsating inside Maci’s pussy. “Fuck.” He ground out the words through clenched teeth.
Maci hummed contentedly, blanketing his body with hers. “I hope you’re comfy,” she purred. “I’m not moving anytime soon.”
Colt adjusted his position in the lounge chair, ignoring the trickles of sweat making trails down his body, and pooling in the seat. “Fine by me.”
“Why not?”
Colt wasn’t giving in, and the more he denied her, the further she wanted to push it.
“I’ve already told you.”
She looked to Anna, who looked away with an amused smile. “I’m not getting in it.” She stood, gathering her things. She and Tex were leaving for Chicago tomorrow for the wedding, so she’d only stopped by for a quick visit.
“I need a way back and forth to school.” She’d found and enrolled in a cosmetology program and it would start in a few weeks. Julie had been thrilled about the idea of having Maci come to work with her, and it’s all the two had talked about since she and Colt had come home from the cabin.
And all she and Colt had done was argue about her getting her own bike. Maci watched as Colt hugged his mom bye. Anna then wrapped her arms around Maci and pulled her close. “Keep at him,” she whispered, giving Maci a wink as she let her go. “I’ll see you kids when I get back.”
Waiting until she was gone, Maci attacked again. “You can teach me to ride.”
“No.”
“Why not?” Maci stood, hands on her hips, between Colt and the refrigerator. Colt tugged off the dirty uniform shirt he was wearing and tossed it into a nearby kitchen chair. Hank had moved him to driving the wrecker during the day, so he was home at night with her now, and Tucker had taken over the repos and ran on-call at night.
“Don’t do that.”
“Do what?” she asked, refusing to clear a path to the beer he was heading for.
“Pout.”
“I’m not.” Her resistance was handled by Colt grasping her waist and lifting her to the counter. He stood between her knees, his arms sliding to pin her hips to where she sat, trapping her.
“You are. And it’s cute as hell, and if you don’t stop, I’ll give in. Now don’t do it.” He kissed her forehead, patted her thigh, and went to get a cold beer.
“What’s it going to hurt?”
Colt took a long swig and swallowed. “You.”
Maci rolled her eyes. “I have to drive something,” she argued.
“A car,” he spat. “I’ll see what we have in storage.”
“Fine. I still want a bike of my own. Tex is going to need his truck back, sooner or later.”
Colt made his way back to her, landing a soft kiss on her lips. “Thank you for seeing this my way.”
“Oh don’t think I’m giving up,” she smirked.
Laughing, he sat his beer down and hugged her face in his hands. “You wouldn’t be you if you did.”
Colt was leaning in for another kiss when his cell phone rang. “What the hell does he want?”
Maci glanced to the screen to see Tucker’s face flashing. “My man.”
“Shut your mouth.” He squeezed her chin, giving her one more kiss. “Don’t move.”
Colt answered the phone with a harsh, “Yeah?”
For a brief instant, Colt’s eyes met Maci’s, then he stepped away, grabbed his shirt, and pulled the phone away from his ear long enough to pull it on. “I’ll meet you at the storage yard.”
Maci watched, a growing knot of concern forming in her belly. “What’s going on?”
Colt shook his head, grabbed his beer, and chugged it down. “I’m not sure,” he said, slamming the empty bottle on the table. “I’ve got to go, though.”
He gave her a quick kiss, and just like that, he was gone. Maci went to the door in time enough to see him disappear around the bend of the driveway, the sound of his bike fading as he rode away.
Maci stepped away, pushing the door shut. She didn’t know if she’d ever get used to the secret nature of Colt’s life, but it was less terrifying than walking away from him, living without him.
Back in the kitchen she threw his empty bottle away and turned down the baked chicken in the oven. She grabbed a beer of her own and took it out to the pier, watching the setting sun send streaks of blue and orange across the sky. She thought of the night she and Colt had made love out there. That was the night she’d known she would adjust to this life, just like she always had. She didn’t need declarations of love or promises of forever. In her heart, she already belonged to Colt Johnson.
Colt pulled his bike beside the wrecker and climbed off. The fucker had been freaking out on the phone, but he didn’t see Tucker anywhere. Shaking his head, he strode to the front door and pulled it open. His brother was in the lobby, pacing the length of the secretary’s counter.
“What the hell?” Colt said, throwing his hands up. Tucker better have a damn good reason for interrupting his evening with Maci.
Tucker came to a stop and planted his hands on his hips. Colt couldn’t decide if Tucker was angry or nervous, but something was wrong. His toned softened. “What’s going on, brother?”
His mouth opened, but Tucker stumbled over his answer. He swallowed hard and leaned against the counter, but he just as quickly started pacing again. “I’ve fucked up, man.”
Colt went on alert. He scanned the office for some indication of what was wrong, but nothing seemed out of place. “What did you do?”
“There’s not been a goddamn minute I haven’t regretted it, Colt. I don’t know what to do.”
“You can start by telling me what the fuck is going on,” Colt growled. It wasn’t like Tucker to be serious, let alone act like he was about to come unglued. Colt was growing more concerned by the second.
“I cheated on a girl,” Tucker started, but Colt’s groan stopped him midsentence.
“Are you fucking serious right now?”
Tucker’s face fell in defeat and Colt backed off. The man was genuinely upset. “I didn’t know you had an ol’ lady,” Colt said, changing his approach.
Tucker shook his head. “I don’t. This was a long time ago. I fucked up.” His voice went low and he kicked at the shoe molding with the toe of his boot. “You ever meet someone and feel like they take your soul and never give it back?”
Images of Maci flashed in Colt’s mind. He moved to a row of chairs that lined the wall behind him and sat. He wasn’t sure what to say, what Tucker needed to hear. He settled in and waited for him to go on.
“I loved her. I still do
. I never even fucking told her.”
“How long ago was this, man?” Colt asked.
Tucker huffed, shaking his head. “I was seventeen. Stupid as hell. The look on her face when she walked in and caught us is still like a goddamn bad dream.”
It took effort for Colt not to roll his eyes. Tucker had to be twenty-one, twenty-two years old. “Why is this shit coming up now?”
Jumping up to sit on the counter, Tucker looked everywhere but at Colt. “She broke down right after I took over. I went to tow her car.”
“And?” Colt’s patience was running out.
Tucker’s jaw ticked he was clenching so hard. Finally, he blew out a breath and told Colt the story. “After we broke up she started dating some football player. Imagine that,” Tucker said wryly. “She married him right out of high school. Had a baby by the time she turned nineteen.”
Colt didn’t bother asking Tucker how he knew all this. The man had obviously been keeping tabs on her. Colt let his gaze roam, taking in Tucker’s stiff body language, his fingers gripped so tight on the ledge of the counter his knuckles were white. He wasn’t jealous. He was irate.
Resting his ankle on his knee, Colt gripped his legs with both hands, not liking where this was going.
“He’s beating her, man. I can’t handle this shit.”
An explosion of rage shot through Colt. It was a sorry motherfucker to put his hands on a woman, he didn’t care who she was. “She told you this?” Colt barked.
Tucker grimaced. “She didn’t fucking have to. Her face was beat to hell. I asked her about it, but I was pissed. I scared her and she ended up running into a strip mall. I lost her.”
Colt leaned his head back and blew out a long breath. This was fucked up. What did Tucker want him to do? He was probably going to regret it, but Colt asked anyway. “What’s your plan?”
Tucker shrugged, locked his hands behind his head and arched his back, stretching.
“Why don’t she just go to the cops?”
Dropping his hands to his knees, Tucker laughed. The dry sound sent a wave of dread through Colt. “Her husband is a fucking cop.”
Watch for Tucker’s story Spring 2017.
