The Back Nine

“Marshall was your boss? What did you do for him?” Alec’s eyes squinted.
“I was his executive assistant. Handled all of his travel affairs and meetings,” Brooke said with even more confidence because this part was true.
“Oh.”
“What do you mean oh. What did you think I did for him?” Brooke frowned. If he even remotely thought anything of the sexual nature she would be thoroughly disgusted and leave immediately, despite that he was a good kisser and everything else. She sighed.
“I didn’t know, and I wasn’t really a hundred percent sure what type of relationship you had with him,” Alec said and ran his massive hand through his jet-black hair.
“Relationship?”
“Yea. Relationship as in personal or professional. I wasn’t really sure.” Alec stalked into his kitchen and grabbed a glass from a sleek black cupboard and opened up his stainless-steel refrigerator. He took out a white Brita water pitcher and poured himself a glass.
“Well it was definitely not personal.” Brooke shuddered at the idea of being anything more than Marshall’s assistant.
“That’s good to hear. So why is he your former boss?” Alec took a long gulp of his water. His Adam’s apple pulsed up and down as he guzzled the liquid. Brooke’s forehead began to pop up little beads of sweat watching his neck muscles work.
“Um, we just decided to part ways.” Brooke pursed her lips.
“Right, so what really happened?” Alec rolled his eyes and cocked his head to the side.
Brooke tossed her hair over her shoulder. “You’re something else.”
“No truer words have ever been spoken.” Alec raised his eyebrows at her. “Now, tell me. What happened? Is he the reason that you were upset?” The vein in his neck bulged so big it looked like it was going to burst.
Brooke cast her eyes down at the floor. Marshall was the reason for her tears, but there was no way in hell that she wanted Alec to know the reason why.
* * * *
Dammit. If there was one thing that pissed off Alec the most, it was making a woman cry, especially a woman he cared about. Alec rubbed his chin. He still didn’t understand why he held Brooke so close to his heart. He had had plenty of woman in his arms before, but there was something about Brooke that was so different. They had this unreal connection that reached beyond flirty exchanges, beyond the softness of her skin, beyond the sweetness of her mouth. There was something deep that Alec experienced when he was around her. And he wanted to be around her all the time. This time he wouldn’t let her run off. No matter what was at stake.
“Let’s talk about something else.” Brooke’s eyes scanned the room like she was searching for a conversation starter. The discussion might be over for now, but Alec’s curiosity was not. He would find out why she had been upset and then make sure it never happened again.
Brooke brushed a few strands of her caramel-colored hair from her cheek and over her shoulders. The little strands of gold framed her face like a halo. Alec’s member pulsated. Brooke licked her lips as if a cue for Alec to engage again. He didn’t need one. He was ready on his own.
“All right. My lips are sealed,” Alec said as he grabbed her into his arms and pressed his mouth over hers. “Over yours.” He kissed her with the type of intensity that could knock the wind out of you. Brooke wobbled in his arms. He pulled her in closer and furthered his kissing. His bare chest was still wet from the perspiration of his workout. Brooke’s hands glided over his back, and she moved them down to his waist. Her fingers tucked in the band of his shorts. She tugged on the elastic like she was signaling him to take the kissing to another level. Every drop of blood in Alec’s body intended to do more than simply kiss Brooke. Not that kissing her wasn’t enjoyable. It was. Her lips were so full and her tongue was so sweet.
Brooke was like sand in his hands, sliding through the glass of time, she was melding into him. He could add a little bit of wetness from his tongue and mold her into any formation he wanted. Like an artist with his masterpiece, Alec was inspired. Inspired to create the perfect piece. He swiped her up in his arms and kissed her all the way to his bedroom. Her tongue was soft and he wanted to lick her in ways he had imagined over the last two weeks. Alec had been unable to get her out of his head. Fourteen days of an empty bed and only thoughts of her and their two moments together. Finally, she was with him in his house and about to be in his bed. It was so surreal. He opened his eyes and studied her face. She was gorgeous. He kissed her with a deepened intensity. Something inside of him urged to please her, to show her how much he wanted to worship her body and make her scream in utter pleasure. He needed her to feel something stronger than she had felt before. Alec wanted to give her an orgasm that would cascade over her skin like lava flowing out of a volcano, something so hot that she would not be able to forget…or ever want to leave his arms or his bed.
The room was dark, but it was easy to see his style. Grays and blues from the walls to the cotton comforter on his bed. Not a personal effect in sight, it was barren. It probably looked like he was in the process of moving in or out. Would this worry Brooke? He didn’t get the impression that she was ready to jump all in, but the idea of being with Brooke for only one more time of passion and satisfaction was something he didn’t want. He wanted so much more than the best sex he had ever had. His eyes bore into hers and she into his. Their wordless exchanges were stronger than any sonnet could foretell.
Brooke’s caramel-colored hair spread out over his navy sheets, little strands of gold made her seem even more angelic. But he didn’t want angelic not now, not today. No, he wanted the vixen he was so used to experiencing in every other place but his bed. His bed. Brooke was finally in his bed and he didn’t want her to leave. He held himself above her and wrapped his finger around a tendril of her soft, wavy hair. “Damn, you’re gorgeous.”
Brooke stared up at him and flitted her eyelashes and then glanced to the side. She wasn’t good at taking compliments it was obvious. Alec leaned down and kissed her softly, gently, slowly running his tongue over her lips. Her tongue reached for his like she was trying to take command of the tango. Alec liked her prowess but was not willing to give up control. Each time she circled his tongue with tip of hers, he would retract. He could see the frustration in her face.
“Hey, let’s take this slow.” Alec smirked at her.
“Slow? Alec. I’m not going anywhere, we have all night, but I need you right now.” Brooke reached her hands around his neck trying to pull him closer, but he was too strong and didn’t budge an inch.
“All night, what if I want more of you than just a night?” Alec leaned in closer and licked her neck and then nibbled her lobe. “What if I want you for two nights…” he whispered into her ear. He sucked on her ear lobe and trailed his finger along her collarbone. Alec leaned his face back. “Or more.”
“Wow, two nights what a great proposition…I’m so flattered.” Brooke spoke through her teeth. Did he insult her? If he had, her body hadn’t shifted. Her hand was on the bulge in his pants. Alec’s erection grew bigger as she rubbed harder. Brooke’s tenacity was so attractive. Granted, he wanted it as much as she did. But did she want more than a night, or even his suggestion of two? Alec wanted more than two nights. He meant it as a joke and didn’t want to scare Brooke off if she had any commitment issues. She had already run off before. Whatever her issue was…he intended on fixing it.
She squirmed underneath his pinned position, but Alec’s strength was immeasurable compared to her.
“What are you trying to do?” Alec squinted his eyes at her.
“Just thought I would give you some encouragement.” Brooke licked her lips. Dammit, that was too much for Alec to take. He grabbed her breast with his right hand and went for her clit with the other. He circled her sweet spot for a minute and then inserted his finger. Yes, she was wet and ready. Her body flexed backward.
“That’s not what I want Alec.” Brooke gazed into Alec’s eyes.
“What do you want baby?” Alec asked as he stuck his finger in his mouth, tasting all of her wetness. She was savory. He could eat her all day long and never tire of that taste.
“Alec, give me you. All of you. Every inch,” Brooke demanded as she pulled him in closer breathing hard on his neck. A sweet essence filled the air, and Alec inhaled her scent. Damn, she was sexy. He wanted to take his time and slowly trail up and down her body with individual kisses and bites for each of her erogenous zones. Her pleasure points. He wanted this and more. But, her body was calling at him, challenging him to give all of him to her right now, and he was a man of fulfilling promises.
He pushed his shorts down to his ankles and kicked them to the floor exposing his massive size. Brooke glanced down and raised her eyebrows in approval. She had already experienced every inch of his erection, yet her eyes appeared surprised by seeing it in plain sight. Brooke took a deep breath and her breasts rose and fell, but her nipples stayed high and mighty. Alec sucked her right breast into his mouth, turning his tongue every which way and taking nibbles in between swirls. He tugged on her left breast with his other hand and pushed his hard cock in between her legs. The heat coming from their bodies was making their legs sweat. They hadn’t even begun to dance a hard and stride-filled tempo. Beads of arousal spread over their bodies like fireflies lighting up a summer night.
Brooke let out a moan as he entered her. His cock was hard, every inch of him was hard, and he went in fast. He slammed into Brooke’s sex like his foot was on the accelerator. Like he had no intention on stopping, or yielding until she came. Alec thrust deeper and deeper as she cried out.
“Are you all right?” Alec asked as he continued to push in deeper. It didn’t matter what her answer would be. He would continue either way. But he wanted to hear her voice.
“Go…slower.” She breathed into his ear. Her nipples ran along his chest, peaked up to hard mounds.
“No,” he whispered back into her ear as he pounded harder into her. She was quivering underneath him. Drops of sweat fell from Alec and onto Brooke’s skin. Alec growled. Seeing a part of him on her supple skin made him hungry for more of her. He increased his intensity and rubbed her nipple, squeezing it. Harder and harder.
“Why…please…go….slow…aaaaher.” Brooke screamed.
“No.” He slammed into her. He was in so deep. Her throat arched back as if she was choking.
“Alec, I can’t.” Brooke dug her nails into his back.
“Yes, you can and will.” Alec breathed into her neck. He pushed harder. Thrusting at an even faster pace. Brooke’s eyes rolled into the back of her head.
“I want you to unravel for me, Brooke. Let go.” Alec stared into Brooke’s eyes. He licked her lips, and she responded, kissing his mouth, and then she pulled back.
He was thrusting into her so deeply with so much intensity, Brooke wasn’t even sure if she could let go. Her skin was on fire. She was struggling for air. Brooke knew it was only a matter of seconds and she would shatter underneath him. Her breathing was heavy and erratic. Alec thrust in harder than before and she gave in.
“Oh…Alec.” She let go and released. Her body was like a piece of glass that was broken into a million shiny pieces, like diamonds in the sun. Her eyes were open but all she saw was a glow of glitter. The specks of gold and silver danced in the air and it was gorgeous. Little sparkles of joy flickered around her as her blood pulsed a smooth beat of pleasure. She was coming undone, physically and emotionally. The orgasm Alec gave her was more intense than anything she had ever experienced. Her chest tightened and her stomach clenched. Brooke didn’t want to be with Alec for only two nights. The idea of being apart from him made her stomach flop. One final thrust from Alec sent her over again into a glow of shivering light.
“Yes, baby, let go.” Alec breathed into her ear and released himself into her body. His body pulsed hard, and his warmth filled her. He held her for a moment and then lay down next to her on the bed. Their chests rose and fell in unison. The connection they had made was more than skin deep.
Chapter Five
Brooke flipped through the menu unable to decide on an option. She blew the hair off her face and pulled on her jean skirt. To say she was uncomfortable would be an understatement. After several rounds of intense pleasure Alec decided they needed food. And now she was seated across from him in a five-star restaurant. The white table cloth covered more of her legs than her own clothing. Her light purple tank top and jean skirt did not exactly scream sophistication or understanding of fine cuisine. This was not a jean-skirt-casual-attire restaurant. This was the type of place where you put on your heels and maybe even a set of pearls if you owned any. Second, her hair was a wreck. She didn’t just have a case of just-got-fucked-hair, but she had to finger-comb it because she didn’t have her purse on her. Third, her makeup was again a disaster for the same reason as number two, but seriously how was she supposed to get past her insecurities about her appearance in a place like this? In front of her Alec sat suavely with confidence. He had taken a shower and thrown on clean clothes and did not have just-fucked hair.
No, his hair was freshly washed with a bit of shine like the kind in commercials. Now, his face did reflect his happiness, he wasn’t beaming but it was obvious he was at ease. That’s before she cast her gaze on the relaxed laugh lines around his mouth. His eyes were focused on the menu. He raised an eyebrow at each line he read. Was he hungry enough to order more than one dish? Brooke wanted to order more of Alec. And not for a second helping. She wanted a full-course meal. Shit. Brooke wanted to hop up out of her chair and rush toward the nearest exit. Round two or three would satisfy her quench more than food. She ran her hands over her hair. It was no use. It was a wreck.
“See anything good?” Alec asked, his gaze reaching over his menu and directly to Brooke.
The sides of Brooke’s mouth pulled up. “Yes, but that’s a problem,” Brooke said and closed her menu.
Alec’s eyebrows wrinkled. “What’s the problem with finding something good?”
“It’s not a matter of finding something good. It’s more of a contrast between the menu, you, and me. I feel out of place.” Brooke’s chest heaved up and down, and then she cast her gaze to the floor.
“What in the world are you talking about? How do you feel out of place?” Alec grabbed her hand and squeezed it. “Hey, you look great. Is something else bothering you?”
There was something else bothering her besides feeling out of place, she was still put off by Marshall’s insults. One doesn’t get over being called a prostitute with the flick of a wrist unless you are Samantha on Sex and the City, then you can push past it. But Brooke was no Samantha, even if she acted a bit promiscuous to rush into bedding Alec.
“Never mind, it’s nothing. I know what I want.” Brooke blinked her eyes and grinned at Alec as if she had some sort of clarity. “Great, I know what I want, too, and not just for dinner.” Alec wiggled his eyebrows and glanced over to the waiter and gave him a nod.
Brooke ran her fingers over the white tablecloth as Alec gave his order to the waiter. The thread was woven so tightly she got caught up in the strength of the fabric that she didn’t realize the two men were staring at her.
Alec reached across the table and gently brushed his fingers over the top of hers. Brooke jumped and shook her head.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll have a spinach and berry salad, the mahi mahi, and a martini.” Brooke handed the waiter the menu. Alec’s eyes didn’t leave her face. His face was serious.
Alec waited for the server to leave before he spoke. “Do you realize that you ordered the exact same thing as me?” Alec cocked his head to the right and rubbed the end of his chin with his thumb and forefinger. He should have shaved, but he was too hungry and didn’t want to keep Brooke waiting.
“Really? Even the martini?” Brooke’s mouth opened a little.
“Yes, where did you go? What’s on your mind Brooke?” Alec reached under the table and squeezed he
r knee. She jerked it back and bit the inside of her lip.
“What’s on your mind, Alec? All ready for another round?” Brooke parted her lips and licked her teeth. Alec’s eyes widened.
He shook his head. “You know the answer to that question. But I don’t know the answer to my question. Seriously, where is your mind at? Where were you coming from on the beach earlier?” Alec stared at her. He reached for her hand and squeezed it. Prompting her to speak.
“Where is my mind? Are you channeling The Pixies? I guess you could say I had a bit of a Fight Club moment. Especially in that I don’t want to talk about it.” Brooke smiled with what seemed to be appreciation as the waiter placed the martinis down on the table and quickly left.
“Fight Club? I like your reference, but I’m thinking perhaps there is more to it than a reference of you not wanting to talk about it. Did you get in a fight with someone?” Alec cracked his knuckles.
Brooke swiped her martini into her hand and took a long gulp. She shivered. Was she cold? Alec wanted to rip off his shirt and cover her shoulders. There was an urging sense inside of him to protect her. But from what or whom? If it had anything to do with Marshall, he would take pleasure in correcting any ill actions Marshall had imposed on Brooke.
Alec glared at Brooke and tapped his foot under the table. He needed to know what upset her.
She smiled at him and took another sip. Almost as if she was trying to find the courage to speak.
“Yes, in a way. Some customers were giving me a hard time, so I dumped the daiquiri mix on this guy’s head and quit.” Brooke grabbed her glass again. She was gripping the glass like it was a life jacket. Brooke finished the last of the liquid and let the olive fall into her mouth. Damn, she had a nice mouth. But he wasn’t concerned about her lips right now. He was furious. The blood in his veins was hot as it raced underneath his skin.
