“Max!” Renee said, running up to him. “I thought you didn’t like goodbyes.” “I don’t, Renee, I’m here to stop you. I know that you’re making a mistake going back to Paris. Stay here with Lexy and me!” “Max, we…”

“I want you, Renee. I love you!”

  “What about Blanche?”

“We agreed to be friends, that’s all! For the first time, I’m

  following my heart.”

  “Are you sure?” Renee asked

“Yes, I want to be with you, always have, and always will. Will

  you stay with me?”

“You know Lexy will be ecstatic if I stay with you? Oh, what am

I’m saying, of course, I will stay and never leave you!”

“Great, I will never, ever let you go.”

Renee jumped in his arms and gave him a big kiss

“Shall we go home?” Max asked her

“Yes,” Renee answered him and they kissed once more Back at the mansion, Renee excused herself from seeing her

luggage moved upstairs. She met him on the threshold of his

bedroom wrapped in a full-length, silk raincoat

“I hope you’re not going somewhere,” Max commented wryly,

“You are mine, and this is where you belong.” As they entered the

bedroom, Renee let the cloak drops to the floor. She was dressed

in a gorgeous, lacy piece of fluff that held the promise of a

romantic, Parisian style evening wear. Do you like it? I designed it

with you in mind!” Renee exclaimed as he walked up to her and

  took her in his arms

“I absolutely adore it, Renee, and you. This time, things will be

  very different between us.”

“I know, and as long as I am yours, it will be a new and exciting

adventure!” All afternoon they made love to each other with the

joy of being together at last.

Kimberly and Blanche were making dinner when Blanche told her that her affair with Max was over. Kimberly was taken aback and decided that matters of the heart were just too complicated for her. She wanted her aunt to be happy with her choice after all that she had been through lately

“Are you sure about this?” “Yes, besides, I’m not ready to make any kind of a romantic commitment. I just want to enjoy life with you.”

“That sounds wonderful to me! Will you regret deciding not to be with him?”

“No. I need to find myself. Max helped find the path, and I love him for that. I want to redefine what I want out of life. After what Dean put me through, I am just not ready to make any commitments. Besides, Kimberly, I am not cut out to be a billionaire’s girlfriend. Renee is ‘born to the manor’ so to speak. She fits right in. Max and Lexy will be very happy with Renee back in their lives.”

“Yeah, Renee is not bad,” Kimberly admitted to her. “Lexy loves her like I love you.”

“That is a great way to look at it. Oh, Kimberly, you’ll have so much fun in Italy!”

“I’m looking forward to it. Sightseeing and everything. And the best part is no Kasey and the twin’s dramas!”

“By the way, did Lexy ever tell you about her past with those twins?”

“No, but I’ll bet she will tell me all about her past with Amelia and Vanessa in time.”

“Yes, I’m sure that she will. Now turn up the radio and let’s dance!” Blanche joyfully demanded

“All right!” Kimberly exclaimed, turning up the kitchen radio and beginning to dance to the music that was playing with abandon.

A few days later, Lexy was telling Kimberly about her father and Renee being reunited. Kimberly smiled at her, knowing that Aunt Blanche told her all about it and that Lexy’s happiness had a lot to do with her aunt’s sacrifice for their pleasure. Kimberly felt a bit sad that her aunt didn’t wind up with Max, but she had to respect her aunt’s wishes

“We will have a great time in Italy,” Lexy told her, as she looked around the busy café. They minded the cash register for her aunt.

“I bet we will. I’m all packed and ready to fly out.”

“Do you think your aunt will be okay without us?” Lexy asked as they looked at Aunt Blanche talking to Dan, Jack, Marge, Jennet, and Bill who were drinking coffee

“Oh, yeah. She told me that between Annette and this shop, she will be busy.”

Lexy just smiled at her. Kimberly would never tell her about her aunt and her dad because it was now in the past, and she would be forever grateful that Lexy hadn’t found out. It would have made their friendship awkward

“I think Dan has a thing for Marge,” Lexy whispered to Kimberly.

  “Get out!” Kimberly told her.

“On that note, I’m leaving. I have to help Renee pack for Italy. See you at the airport tomorrow!” Lexy said, grabbing her bag

  “Sounds good.”

“I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am now that my Dad and Aunt Renee are back together! I can hear wedding bells very soon… Oh, which reminds me, you might want to wear waterproof clothes tomorrow.”

“Why, Lexy?” Kimberly asked her rolling her eyes

“You’ll see,” Lexy told her as she walked away

“Goodbye,” Kimberly said, watching Lexy stroll out the door, saying goodbye to her other friends.

A few minutes later, Kimberly saw a man open the door and walk into the shop. The man came right up to her. He was tall with baby blue eyes and dark hair. He wore an NFL tee shirt that had the Bears team logo on it

“Good afternoon, welcome to The Sedona’s Heart Cafe. What can I get you today?” Kimberly asked the fortysomething gentleman

“How about an Italian sub? Is it any good?”

“Well, yes, one of my friend’s grandmas in Italy taught us to make the best one ever.”

“Really, I will have to be the judge of that! Where in Italy?” he asked handing her his money

“The town by the Army base,” she replied

“Oh, I’ve been there before. An army brat, are you?” he guessed

“No, I’m too much like my mother. She was a Sedona girl,” Kimberly told him handing him the change, but he didn’t take it

“No, you keep it. What’s your name?” he asked

  “Kimberly, sir,” she replied

“Hello, Kimberly, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Zane.”
