CHAPTER 1
AN ALMIGHTY SYSTEM
A chilling breeze, followed by an unsightly pile of dried leaves, blew past an unconscious figure laying coldly on the ground. It was quite dark night due to the tall trees that blocked the shining moons in the sky. The combined light of four crescent moons barely illuminated the slumped boy.
"Awooo!" A loud howl followed by rustling noises of twigs and leaves that were being crushed resounded within the serene forest. A slight twitch, a barely noticeable nudge, suddenly came from the boy as his eyes gradually opened. His bright brown eyes glimmered underneath the little light that shone down on his face.
"Wh— where am I?" He muttered, still confused as to what was happening, or where he was. He then slowly observed his surroundings. “My… my head still hurts so bad…” If his memory serves right, the last few things he could remember were the scalding pain from scorching flames and the suffocating smell of thick smoke coming from a fire. "I… I burned myself, didn’t I? Huh, shouldn’t I be dead by now… Is this heaven?" Scouring through his surroundings, the boy concluded, "I doubt that it is… This all looks too mediocre, at best, this isn't even a paradise."
The place was filled with drab-looking trees that were lethargic in shape due to the trunk and leaves being equally stumpy. The ground was extremely dry as well, the boy could barely feel any moisture from it and the grass was languid in color. The boy once again muttered, "This definitely isn't heaven. Hell? It isn't too hot here either… So I am still alive? But this shouldn't be Earth…"
Jin Feng, the brown-eyed boy, could only guess that this place wasn't Earth. Considering the fact that he should have a charcoaled body by now instead of having a fair skin, he should have been transmigrated somewhere before his soul would have perished together with his body.
Rebirth or reincarnation wasn't the right term, and transmigration shouldn't be either. Jin Feng pondered for a little while, scouring through what little knowledge he has from reading fantasy books back on Earth about having a second chance in life or something. The scenario that he was in right now was pretty much similar to those stories.
"I should look pretty similar like before…" Checking out his entire figure by touching his face, trying to make out the shape of it, Jin Feng could feel that he hasn't changed that much. His face should be more or less the same. Even the clothes he wore back then before he died were similar. Including the watch on his wrist and the pitch-black ring in his index finger, everything was pretty much the same.
Jin Feng stood up in hopes that he could try and check the environment around him further, as he could not clearly tell whether or not he transmigrated or just lost in an odd forest on Earth; the probability of either of the two were both laughable,
"Ding! New user detected: Hello, Jin Feng, and congratulations on acquiring the formidable and heavenly, Gacha System!"
Before he could even take a step further, a cheerful voice suddenly resounded. Jin Feng could not pick up where it was coming from… it felt that the source was way too close, but he could not see anyone anywhere he turns. "It's in my head?" Jin Feng suddenly realized as he immediately sat down and listened to the voice.
"As a new user, you will have the option to do a short run through regarding the basics on how to use the almighty and heavenly Gacha System. Would you want to do the tutorial?"
True enough, it was really something that echoed within the head of Jin Feng. It was a peculiar phenomenon for someone that was anticipating something special after considering the fact that he was transmigrated into a new world. However, 'Why does this system sound so... narcissistic?' Jin Feng thought. Although he wasn't used to people that are more often than not... self-praising, he tried his best not to bother any further and answered with a "Yes."
"Really? You could actually skip this step if you want? Would you like to continue?"
For some odd reason, even though the voice that calls itself the "Gacha System" felt mechanical, Jin Feng could feel some sort of sentience from it. Just from the fact that it questioned Jin Feng's choice of doing the tutorial, he could feel that it wasn't... normal. Not wanting to squeeze anything more that is confusing, Jin Feng did not bother thinking much about everything and just proceeded with a "Yes, I want to continue."
Within an instant, a bright flash suddenly appeared in front of Jin Feng, temporarily blinding him as he could barely see anything from his surrounding. "First, please enter your desired in-game name, this will be used as your identity within this new world, leading you to the path of godhood, assisted by the almighty and heavenly Gacha System! Choose carefully."
"In-game name? Is this some sort of a game for this system now?" Jin Feng thought. He was pretty sure that the surroundings, the world in itself, was totally real and did not feel like a simulation of a VR game or something.
That aside, Jin Feng didn't bother in making up an in-game name, back then on Earth, he would always use his full name no matter what, "My in-game name would be "Jin Feng", that would be all." with a smile, Jin Feng thought, "Guess I shouldn't bother questioning anything, for now, I don't understand a strand of a thing at all, might as well just go with it for now."
After receiving the name "Jin Feng", A screen appeared within the void from where the bright light from a while ago came from. Jin Feng could barely see anything from it but he was pretty sure that his name was slowly imprinted on it. Under his name were scribbles that he could not make up what they were right now as he was still blinded by the sudden flash of light.
"Welcome, new user, Jin Feng! The Gacha System is granted to special characters within this world, and with the great me... I mean, with the almighty Gacha System at your disposal, you'll aim to be the strongest within this world! Let's begin the tutorial."
Within the next moment, three brown scrolls of unknown origins suddenly spawned in front of Jin Feng as the loud howling from the distance grew louder and louder by the second.
CHAPTER 2
SUMMONING
The wind grew colder as the night fell deeper. Within the woodlands, only the loud howling of what seemed to be giant wolves echoed throughout the entirety of the forest. Jin Feng could barely hear the system now that the howling grew louder and louder by the minute,
"What is wrong with those wolves?" Jin Feng thought as he tried his best to shake off the eerie feeling. He directed his attention towards the three brown scrolls that suddenly appeared in front of him. It would seem like these odd-looking parchments were provided by the system for the sake of the tutorial. As for their purpose? He could only wait for the system's instruction.
&
nbsp; "Please receive the scrolls provided by the system, user Jin Feng", The voice of the system resounded within his head. Jin Feng then reached for the scrolls while remaining situated in a cross-legged position. The moment Jin Feng held one of the parchments, a notification appeared within his head,
[Basic Summoning Scroll]- "Summons system creatures, extremely low chance for Tier-5 summons."
"Eh? Summons?" Jin Feng's brow creased in an odd manner as he questioned the purpose of the scrolls, "But I thought that this is a Gacha System?" He asked. For someone that is a fan of incremental and hyper-casual games, Jin Feng was sort of knowledgeable on what Gacha, or Gachapon, means in the gaming industry.
It was a big, fat scam that has existed since the olden days of vending and dispensing machines that attract greedy suckers that wants everything the easy way. Of course, Jin Feng was one of these suckers, and as soon as the Gacha system was introduced on different modern games, he was one of the people that fell into its deep and inescapable pit of money wastage.
Jin Feng initially thought that the "Gacha System" would be some sort of power or spell that he could use wherein the chances of pulling out a world-destroying spell would be extremely low and the chances of causing a pathetic fireball would be pretty high. But... Summons.
"Yes, this is an almighty and heavenly Gacha System, and as such, strenuous and repetitive work shouldn't be done by the user and should be left to those that are disposable... I mean, efficient, like Summons." The mechanical male voice of the system answered.
Jin Feng was stumped by the answer of the Gacha System, although it tried to cough away the term "disposable", he could not neglect the fact that this is something that was familiar to him back then, "I am sure that I read it somewhere... Isn't this like the novel 'Slavemancer' back on Earth?" Although it wasn't necessarily the same, as he doesn't have the power to *cough* urge others to serve for him, having Summons would seem like a similar situation.
Jin Feng sighed as he looked at the scrolls of unknown origins in his hands, "System, how do I use these then?" He earnestly asked. At this point, he could not be bothered if something similar to 'Slavemancer' would actually come his way, although, within his young and fragile heart, he wishes for this world to be a little less... erotic, if it all goes to that odd path.
"To do a summoning, rip the tie off the scroll and tear it into two halves."
Jin Feng once again creased his brows as he inwardly muttered, "It's that simple?". His actions were quick and precise, although he doesn't entirely know if it will work, Jin Feng doesn't have any other choice but to listen to the system's instructions. The rope immediately broke off after a slight pinch by Jin Feng's fingers as the crunching sound of torn paper immediately resounded soon after.
The two torn pieces of parchment that fell off Jin Feng's hand immediately lit up as soon as it touched the ground. The next moment, the parchment suddenly disappeared after being devoured by the blinding light. What appeared on its place was an impish figure, approximately 2-feet in height, with a lumpy and greenish skin.
"Successfully Summoned: Forest Goblin (Tier 1)"
The little green goblin turned its back and glared at Jin Feng with its languid green eyes. For a moment, it startled Jin Feng, but after seeing the goblin wasn't doing anything and was just blankly staring at him, he slowly regained his composure. "What an ugly little thing..." He thought.
It was an odd feeling, but Jin Feng was kind of relieved that the summoning didn't lead into what he was thinking back then. It did not go the erotic way, but into the classic Dragons and Dungeons path. His geeky self inwardly giggled in happiness as he hurriedly tore apart the remaining scrolls.
Scratch!
"Successfully Summoned: Gnome Warrior (Tier 1)
Scratch!
"Successfully Summoned: Hell Imp (Tier 2)
A creature that wasn't any taller than the goblin appeared. It was wearing blue overalls and was equipped with a shield made out of what seemed to be a bin cover and a pitchfork with only the middle pin left. The third and last creature that appeared was tiny as well. It wasn't wearing anything but its sensitive parts were covered in everlasting flames, tiny yellow horns protrude on top of its head as it kept gnashing its yellowish sharp teeth.
"Yes! This is nothing like Slavemancer... thank the heavens." Jin Feng thought as he once again glanced over the three creatures that were barely any taller than his waist. The eyes of the three glared at Jin Feng as if they were waiting for some sort of instructions. "Eh... now what?"
"Congratulations, user Jin Feng, for successfully completing the first part out of the five-part tutorial. Please receive your beginners' reward!"
[Rewards: 10x Basic Summoning Scroll, 2x Advance Summoning Scroll (Currently locked, Unlocks after completing tutorial)] "Would you like to proceed to the second part of the tutorial?"
Jin Feng smiled as he heard the ringing notification, he thought, "This is why you don't skip tutorials even though you know the basics! Rewards are always hidden in these things!". Seeing, or rather, hearing that the system wasn't talking anything further and have asked whether or not he wants to proceed, Jin Feng naturally nodded and said "Yes" in reply.
Da! Da! Da!
The sound of what seemed to be giant hooves rushing towards the direction of Jin Feng echoed within the forest, "...Is this part of the tutorial... or am I screwed right now?" Jin Feng thought as a gigantic figure of a pitch-black horse with two horns overshadowed the heavens and stared down at him.
CHAPTER 3
IDLE FARMING
It might have been the strong wind, or it could be the chilling sensation that ran down his spine, but Jin Feng could clearly feel that the temperature of the surroundings dropped the moment the gigantic black horse appeared in front of him. The three summoned creatures in front of Jin Feng immediately became cautious as well.
"Successfully Encountered: Moon Bicorn (Tier 3)"... "Data of creature is already recorded within the system's database. Could be summoned with Basic and Advanced Summoning Scrolls."
"Second part of the tutorial could begin; Idle Farming. As the user of the heavenly Gacha System, user Jin Feng could use the Summons to fight for him and slay any creature that gets in his way."
The cheerful mechanical voice of the narcissistic system resounded within Jin Feng's head as he subconsciously took a few steps back, away from the Moon Bicorn that was eerily staring back at him. For some odd reasons, the loud howling of the wolves from a while ago dissipated, "This should be the creature that those wolves tried to fend off." Jin Feng thought.
Although he could clearly see that the Moon Bicorn was a bit stronger, considering that it was Tier-3 in strength, not that Jin Feng knows what the tiers entirely mean, he could only hope for the three tiny creatures he successfully summoned to be able to at least fight back and injure the Moon Bicorn.
Two creatures that are of Tier-1, and one creature that is of Tier-2, against one giant creature that is of Tier 3. As someone that played quite a lot of casual games, Jin Feng was able to tell and deduce that the current situation was somehow 50/50, which means that the fight could go either way. If the Moon Bicorn was a tier higher than it currently is, the three tiny creature wouldn't stand a chance.
Although he could not clearly see the math behind these things, yet. Jin Feng was pretty confident that the chance of him, or rather, the three winning, is not entirely zero. "Go, kill that Moon Bicorn!" Jin Feng pathetically instructed. It was an awkward yell, but it was enough to cause a reaction from the Summons as they immediately attacked in unison.
The tiny Gnome Warrior bravely charged forth against the galloping strides of the Moon Bicorn. As if he was an expert at the arts of fighting against bigger opponents, the gnome nimbly evaded the charge as he went sideways and poked the bicorn's sides with his pitchfork. "Neighhh!" The Moon Bicorn anguished! The first attack successfully landed!
The Hell Imp, being a Tier-2 creature, was smart enough to deduce that the Moon Bicorn was
in pain and could not easily evade now that it is agitated and its aggro is directed at the Gnome Warrior. Seeing this, a ball of flame started charging within his mouth as he started spewing fist-sized fireballs towards the Moon Bicorn. "Neighhh!" The ranged attack was a success!
The Moon Bicorn started huffing and puffing in pain as the attacks of both the Gnome Warrior and the Hell Imp were landing nonstop. It could be said that its bulky stature was hindering it from actually hitting any of the tiny attackers. Chiming in, the Forest Goblin hopped on the back of the Gnome Warrior as it ambitiously leaped towards the Moon Bicorn.
As a melee attacker with no weapons whatsoever, the Forest Goblin has to rely on his brute strength when fighting. More often than not, they would attack and prey on against smaller creatures such as rodents and fawns, but seeing that the Moon Bicorn suddenly became weak against the attacks of his fellow tiny Summons, the Forest Goblin greedily aimed for the kill.
