Gacha System

...
The forest shade was getting thinner and thinner the longer the group was traveling. The four moons overhead could now be seen by Jin Feng from almost any angle as soon as he looks up.
The travel was quite serene and peaceful. Jin Feng did not grow tired because the Moon Bicorn offered him a lift. The Gnome Warrior wasn't bothered by the walk either, it was as if he was very familiar with the path that they were taking. The Hell Imp, on the other hand, seems to be moving sluggishly with all its limbs used to crawl.
Jin Feng became tempted to offer the Hell Imp a lift as well. But as soon as he did, he was immediately rejected, only replying with a shaking head while pointing at his flaming back spine and tail. "I guess that the Hell Imp is wary about riding the Moon Bicorn and hurting it unintentionally." Jin Feng concluded.
After a few more minutes, a crude village wall appeared on the horizon.
Even though Jin Feng wasn't strong and does not have superhuman senses, the wall was still clear as it was illuminated by the moon's brightness, "What a convenient heavenly body... bodies! But I wonder what it is like within the coastal areas."
Besides being curious about the tidal effect of having four satellites around a single planet, Jin Feng was also curious if the An Forest is the only place that is barely getting any illumination or is there other areas, not necessarily forest, that are deprived with either the sun or the moonlight.
His random thoughts were then disrupted by the Moon Bicorn's sudden halt. Without him noticing, they have arrived at the entrance to the village.
Jin Feng's hunch was immediately proven correct as a bunch of Gnomes stepped out of their houses to the moment they've arrived. Some had a wary look on their faces, but as soon as they saw that the one leading the group was one of their own, they immediately relaxed.
The tensed atmosphere that they were giving off a while ago immediately dissipated as few tiny... tinier Gnomes ran towards the Gnome Warrior Summon.
"Eh?... Offsprings?!?" Jin Feng inwardly exclaimed. Right now, he basically has zero ideas as to where the "Summons" originated, and the fact that the Gnome Warrior seemingly has a life prior to the whole "summoning" made it even more confusing.
Jin Feng was about to ask the system when he thought, "This is probably another question that would go by unanswered...". For him, it was kind of frustrating. It was as if your own brain isn't cooperating with you even if you like to know and/or do things.
As for how he would learn it, Jin Feng had no idea. He couldn't possibly talk to any of the Summons. He could barely communicate with them through body language, how much more when he wants to ask something that is way too detailed? He could only hope for a miracle...
...
Barely able to communicate with any of the residents within the village, Jin Feng could not help but just follow with some weird body language instructions. He was then led by the Gnome Warrior summon into a small cavern.
The distance between said cavern and the village was only about a hundred meters. It was basically a residential area within the village, although it was outside the "walls". If Jin Feng understood the few body languages and signs, they were basically saying that "No house is big enough to shelter him or the Moon Bicorn."
"If that is the case... then I couldn't do anything anymore... Besides, there is no other place to stay in this forest." Jin Feng muttered. After seeing that the Hell Imp and the Moon Bicorn were resting, and the Gnome Warrior was resting somewhere within the village as well. Jin Feng went on his own to finish the final part of the tutorial.
"So I just have to plant this somewhere I'd like to call my home, right?" As far as he could remember, that was basically the entirety of the Gacha System's instruction. Besides the screen that indicates the seed's information. an odd tab also appeared at the upper right corner of Jin Feng's vision.
Within the tab, the names of his current Summons were listed in an organized manner. Beside each name, a current "Status" could be seen. Oddly enough, the Forest Goblin was still within the list,
[Dead- Not Resummoned], it was the status that Jin Feng could see besides the Forest Goblin.
[Active] status was beside both the Hell Imp and the Moon Bicorn's names. The Gnome Warrior, however, "[Away]? What does that mean?" Jin Feng could clearly see that it was a different status, and it was yellow in color, signifying that it wasn't really alarming, unlike the red within the [Dead] status and the ensuring green color of the [Active], "So it's in the middle?"
Jin Feng curiously tapped on the [Away] status. Surprising him, a different notification screen appeared. "Would you like to recall the summon, [Gnome Warrior]?"
CHAPTER 12
NEW SUMMONS
"A built-in recall feature... This is amazingly convenient!" For the first time, Jin Feng praised the systems feature. Besides his gratitude towards the Summons helping him to not die the moment he transmigrated, the Gacha System has been acting like a silent prick towards Jin Feng. Although the term prick is a bit of an exaggeration. It was just that the system is being way too secretive for Jin Feng's taste.
After seeing that the [Away] status is just something for Jin Feng to know whether or not the Summon is just far away, and he could be able to recall them to his location by a press of a single button. Jin Feng did not pay any more attention to it and left the cavern towards the open field.
"The Gnome Warriors might be peacefully sleeping with its children right now. I should disturb." Jin Feng smiled as he headed his way outside. To do the last part of the tutorial, Jin Feng is trying to look for a suitable piece of soil for the seed to grow properly.
At first, he was quite tempted about planting it inside the cavern. But after realizing that it might not grow due to the rigged conditions, he decided to just look for a better place. "Although, I should not venture that far... It is still deep in the night." As someone who is actually helpless without his Summons, Jin Feng was obviously a bit cautious.
Even though he could just recall them if he really needs to, a surprise attack or an ambush would definitely get the best of him and would not give him an opportunity to recall any of the Summons
It barely took a minute before Jin Feng could feel that the ground below his feet was quite smooth and mushy. "... Amazing, this is a preferable spot... but how is this possible?" After squinting his eyes to adjust to the dimness of the surroundings, Jin Feng found the answer. "This should be the village's agricultural lands..."
"Hmmm... If I plant this here? Would they mind? Well... I am technically just planting a single seed. It is not like I am planting a whole bunch of them, right? And this location is quite near to the cave. This could definitely work..." After "convincing" himself that it was fine, Jin Feng didn't hesitate and started digging with his bare hands. He saw quite a few tools around him, but they were all gnome-sized, and thus, it was better to just dig by himself.
After the hole was about a meter deep, Jin Feng picked up the fist-sized seed and carefully placed it inside the hole, then covering it with the dug-out soil.
"Hmmm... that should do it." Jin Feng muttered as he dusted off the dirt in his hands.
"Congratulations, user Jin Feng, for successfully completing the final part of the tutorial. Please receive your final beginner's reward!"
[Rewards: 100x Soul Fruit(s), 1x Breakthrough Talisman, 8x Gachapon Coins (Locked: Unlock when user Jin Feng reaches Gold Ranker), 1x Divine Spear]
"Congratulations on finishing the five-part tutorial! Summoning Feature is now unlocked for user Jin Feng! More features could be unlocked by growing the physical representation of the almighty Gacha System. Furthermore, items and consumables are unlockable increasing user Jin Feng's Gacha rank."
The mechanical voice of the Gacha System and the pinging sound of the appearing notifications resounded within Jin Feng's head as soon as he "finished" planting the seed. Finally, the tutorial phase was done.
Seeing that there are so many things that were rewarded and unlocked, Jin Feng
excitedly returned towards the cavern to check them out. He could only leave the system's seed for now for it to grow.
...
The entrance of the cavern was quite small. Barely enough for the Moon Bicorn to be able to fit in. But aside from the mouth of the cave being tiny, the cavern in itself was quite spacious. The Moon Bicorn could cozily sleep as if it was laying down at a giant stable of his own. "This place is too big to just be some ordinary cavern."
Even though it was technically a cave, Jin Feng could not feel any eeriness within it. It was as if it was cleaned prior to their arrival. "Did someone actually lived here? I don't feel any presence though..." In any case, he was quite sure that the place was empty.
"Eh...Nevermind that. What's important is, I have finally unlocked the Summoning feature!"
It was technically still a few hours since he did his first summoning. But it felt like days before he was able to finally finish the tutorial. It was quite tiring, and Jin Feng could really feel the sleepiness within his eyes.
But the fact that he unlocked the feature for him to freely do whatever he wants... It was a premise that immediately rendered him sleepless and active once more.
Reopening his status page and arriving at the "Inventory" tab, Jin Feng tapped the scrolls icon as rolled parchments appeared from within the void. He "took out" every single scroll he has out of excitement. "Wait... Isn't this a bit too much?"
10 Basic Summoning Scrolls and 4 Advance Summoning Scrolls... If he summons all of them in one go... wouldn't the cave suddenly be cramped up? "14 creatures shouldn't be much if they are just as tiny as the gnomes and imps, but..."
What if he summons a giant or an ogre or something else that was big? Jin Feng was quite cautious as to how he would do the summoning now that he was conscious of the living space.
"Hmmm. If I just summon them one by one and stop if the place would be full... Yeah! That would be plausible." Jin Feng finalized his "plan". He would only summon as much as the cave could handle. If he would summon a giant on his first scroll, then he would immediately stop.
"If that is the case, then it's better to use the Advance Summoning Scrolls. I'll have a higher chance of getting better Summons with it."
*Scratch* Without hesitation, Jin Feng started summoning.
A white runic circle glowed on the ground as to where the scroll fell.
"Successfully resummoned: Gnome Warrior (Tier 1)"
"Eh? A repeat?" He could clearly see the term "resummoned" within the notification instead of a "summon", which would signify that the Summon that appeared was indeed something he already acquired. "Well, having two brave Gnome Warriors within the party isn't too bad."
Even though Jin Feng wasn't particularly disappointed with what appeared, he felt as if something was wasted. Inside him, he could clearly feel that he could've gotten the same result with a basic scroll rather than using the much more expensive version.
*Sigh*... "Well, it wouldn't be called a Gachapon System for nothing... I have a feeling that I won't be getting anything good from these three remaining scrolls..."
*Scratch*
Another runic circle appeared, this time, it was in the shade of the color, green.
"Successfully resummoned: Hell Imp (Tier 2)"
Another repeat. This time, Jin Feng was quite sure that it was pretty hopeless to see a better Summon after two consecutive "failures".
*Scratch* Scratch*
"Successfully resummoned: Forest Goblin (Tier 1)"
"Successfully resummoned: Forest Goblin (Tier 1)"
"..." It was too painful to watch... As the notification screens appeared next to each other, expending all four of the "Advance" scrolls but not getting anything good... Not even a single Tier 3! Jin Feng's expression went blank as he slowly picked up the Basic Scrolls. "Oh well..."
*Scratch* *Scratch* Scratch* *Scratch* Scratch*
"Successfully resummoned: Hell Imp (Tier 2)"
"Successfully Summoned: Skeleton Jouster (Tier 2)"
"Successfully Summoned: Dwarven Archer (Tier 1)"
"Successfully resummoned: Forest Goblin (Tier 1)"
"Successfully Summoned: Blood Samurai (Tier 5)"
Jin Feng was about to tear the sixth Basic Scroll out of frustration when he saw a different colored glow on the floor, a golden colored one, and the final notification screen that appeared... "A Tier 5!"
CHAPTER 13
YUE LING
Jin Feng was quite frustrated after not being able to acquire anything that was noteworthy from the four Advance Summoning Scrolls. With a sour expression, he immediately proceeded into using the Basic Summoning Scrolls.
"I don't think I'll be getting anything better from this, might as well do it right now to save me the hassle of crushing my hopes in the future."
The Summons from the Advance Summoning Scrolls were actually… bad. Considering the fact that the scrolls are supposed to be better than the standard ones, the result was obviously disappointing.
A Hell Imp, A Gnome Warrior, and two Forest Goblins. With this, Jin Feng acquired a pair of each Summons. "Well, I guess there is strength in numbers…" Jin Feng muttered, convincing himself that it wasn't all too bad. Besides, these "lower" tiered summons proved their strength in front of the other creatures outside the An Forest.
*Scratch* With zero expectations, Jin Feng started summoning using the basic scrolls. He wasn't paying much attention as he continually tore scrolls one after another.
A Hell Imp… Another resummoning, totaling Jin Feng with three Hell Imps.
At this point, Jin Feng was now casually removing the rope that held the scroll together and tearing them with indifference. As far as he could tell, even if there are 20 Hell Imps, the cave wouldn't be crowded, as they were really small.
The second spawn was not a re-summon and wasn't a Tier 1 creature either. Jin Feng's heart skipped a bit. His excitement was slight… very slightly, refueled.
A skeleton warrior donned in heavy armor appeared. It was riding a horse-like creature with chicken-like legs. The mount was also wearing an armor, although it was plated thinly, it was on purpose as to not hinder its speed. On the right hand of the skeleton, a blunt lance could be seen.
"Hmmm… Skeleton Jouster, a Tier 2 Summon. Well, I guess it's something." Jin Feng thought. His excitement then escalated when another brand new Summon spawned from the magic circle.
This time, it was a humanoid creature and not some bizarre being. Similar to the Gnome Warrior, the height of the new Summon— Dwarven Archer, was quite small as well, bare a meter in height.
Branding a simple wooden bow and a few crude-looking arrows, one would easily underestimate the capability of this stout bow-wielder. Even if it was a Tier 1 Summon, Jin Feng wouldn't dare look down on the archer. More or less, they would have the same strength as the Tier 1 Gnome Warrior.
The next summon, however, once again disappointed Jin Feng— Another Forest Goblin, totaling him a three of them within his group. Without thinking much, he gathered the remaining six basic scrolls to hurriedly do the summoning and get on with it.
He was already tired and sleepy, he couldn't be bothered to drag the process anymore. *Scratch*
"Eh?..."
Surprising Jin Feng, the color that reflected on the ground from the magic circle was quite different. It was a hue that he never saw before. Usually, they were either white when summoning a Tier 1, green when it's a Tier 2, and blue when it is a Tier 3.
He only saw the blue colored ones during the Shard Summoning part of the tutorial when the Moon Bicorn spawned. Oddly, the color of the magic circle this time was… "Gold?"
A mystical shade of yellow emitted from the ground. The dazzling lights from the magic circle enveloped the dark cavern, illuminating every nook and cranny…
"Successfully Summoned: Blood Samurai (Tier 5)"
A tall figure that mightily stood within the golden magic circle. The light that dazzled with great brilliance slowly dissipated as the i
mage of the tall figure became cleared to Jin Feng.
It was a figure of a man. Jin Feng couldn't properly see the man's facial features as his overly-large bamboo hat covered half of his upper face. He was wearing tattered robes which were crimson red in color. A few odd imprints could also be seen from his clothes. In his waist shone an elegant scabbard embroidered within a serpent and dragon markings.
"Congratulations on completing an Achievement Quest: Successfully spawn your first Tier 5 Summon!" [Reward: Silver Ranker]
System User: Jin Feng— Silver Ranker. (Acquire powerful Summons to increase rank)
It did not take long before the system's voice resounded. "Achievement Quest?"
