Andrew B.R. Elliott is a senior lecturer in media and cultural studies at the University of Lincoln in the United Kingdom, where he teaches courses in film and television studies. His research focuses on the representation of history on film, popular cinema, and the notions of authenticity and truth. Kevin M. Flanagan is a Ph.D. student in the Critical & Cultural Studies Program in the Department of English at the University of Pittsburgh, where he researches postwar British cinema, ideology, “Birmingham School” cultural studies, and screen comedy. He is the editor of Ken Russell: Re-Viewing England’s Last Mannerist (Scarecrow Press, 2009). An active critic, his film reviews have been published in Film & History, Irish Journal of Gothic and Horror Studies, and Studies in Australasian Cinema; his book reviews can be found in Journal of British Cinema and Television, Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts, and Scope.
Daniel O’Brien is a freelance writer and occasional teacher specializing in film and television. Since the late 1980s he has contributed to encyclopedias, dictionaries and other reference works, and written books on such subjects as Clint Eastwood, Frank Sinatra, British science fiction, Hong Kong horror movies, the Hannibal Lecter books and films, Paul Newman, and Daniel Craig. He is completing work toward a Ph.D.
Chris Pallant is a lecturer in the School of Creative Studies and Media at Bangor University in the United Kingdom. His research interests include animation, filmmaking technology, screenwriting, and urban studies. His book Demystifying Disney: A History of Disney Feature Animation (Continuum, 2011) was written to uproot common misconceptions and bring fresh scholarly definition to a busy field. As a Fulbright Commission winner, he spent the summer of 2010 at New York University and is preparing to co-edit a collection that will develop many of the topics discussed there.
Jerry B. Pierce is an assistant professor of ancient and medieval history at Penn State Hazleton. His current work focuses on representations of masculinity and sexuality in films set in the classical period. His forthcoming book Poverty, Heresy and the Apocalypse: The Order of Apostles and Social Change in Medieval Italy 1260 –1307 examines the heretical movement of Fra Dolcino as part of a broader social and political rebellion in northern Italy.
Robert C. Pirro’s research has focused on politics and tragedy, Hannah Arendt, and the burden of the German past in the works of émigré German directors in Hollywood. He published The Politics of Tragedy and Democratic Citizenship (Continuum) in 2011. He teaches feminist political thought, aesthetic politics, and film and politics in the Department of Political Science at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro and is writing a book on Primo Levi, Lina Wertmüller, and Niccolò Machiavelli.
Larry T. Shillock is an associate professor of English and an assistant academic dean at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. His research interests include critical theory, the history of affect, the modern novel, and classical Hollywood cinema. He writes frequently for The Bloomsbury Review. His schol-

David Simmons has published on a range of issues related to twentieth century popular culture, including a monograph, The Anti-Hero in the American Novel (Palgrave Macmillan, 2008), and an edited collection on the television series Heroes (McFarland, 2011). In the field of television studies he has written chapters on a number of cult television shows, including South Park, Supernatural, and Xena: Warrior Princess. David is currently editing an upcoming collection on British and American contemporary fiction.
Kristi M. Wilson is an assistant professor at Soka University of America in Aliso Viejo, California, where she directs the Writing Program and teaches rhetoric and humanities. She founded the Stanford Film Lab and taught at Stanford University for nine years before coming to Soka. Co-editor of Italian Neorealism and Global Cinema (Wayne State University Press, 2007), she is the author of numerous articles in such journals as Screen, Yearbook of Comparative and General Literature, Signs, and Literature/Film Quarterly. Her anthology Film and Genocide is forthcoming.
