Kingdom of Dragons

  I sat on the back of my most trusted companion with my love holding me tight. I looked out at the multitude of dragons and realized that this was my kingdom. This was my life. I was living in it, creating in it, and loving in it. At that moment, I realized that my original wish, the one I had made over a year ago on a magical well with a penny, came true.

  Who would have ever thought?

  Kehn must have felt me tense because he leaned forward a little and check on me. “You alright, Eva?”

  I looked over my shoulder to answer him. When I did, though, something on his cheek caught my eye. I chuckled lightly to myself.

  “What is it?” Kehn wondered, slightly worried.

  “Nothing,” I replied lightly, “just hold still, okay?”

  Kehn did as he was told as I reached out and plucked the stray eyelash from off his cheek. I held it between us, close enough to blow it away with an exhale. It fluttered in the wind but didn’t leave my grip. I smiled wide and bright, knowing that he wasn’t going to understand what I was doing, but I did it anyway.

  “Make a wish.”
