  Author’s Note

Thank you to my agent, Stacy Testa, of Writers House for her guidance, support, encouragement, and positive attitude. I couldn’t do it without her!

Thank you to my editor, John Scognamiglio, and all the wonderful people at Kensington for their faith in my writing, and hard work in publishing and promoting the book.

Many thanks to Susan Breen, author of the Maggie Dove mystery series, for her insight and excellent suggestions on improving the manuscript.

Thanks to my family and friends for cheering me on as I keep writing stories. I appreciate it.

I am thankful for my fellow authors who are always generous in sharing ideas, inspiration, and critiques—and thanks for sending photos of your cats and books for my blog!

Last, but never least, a huge thank-you to my readers. I am one of you. I’m always looking for a great story that makes me feel and think and dream. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to read my stories. Thanks for your notes, reviews, and positive thoughts.

Some of us suffer with pain every day, and blame ourselves for being a burden. Some of us grieve over someone we have loved and lost. Some of us live in fear, afraid of being punished if we express who we really are. But even when life is not perfect, life is worth living. Better days are around the corner. Sometimes the most courageous thing you can do is ask for help when you need it.
